Magic, then in its most primordial sense, is the experience of existing in a world made up of multiple intelligences, the intuition that every form that one perceives—from the swallow swooping overhead to the fly on a blade of grass, and indeed the blade of grass itself—is an experiencing form, an entity with its own predilections and sensations, albeit sensations that are different from our very own.

'Lavenham Light', painting by Paul Evans.
In Suffolk, England.
British artist born 1950.
About the light (from comments under the Facebook post):
From Paul Evans (@paulevansartist) Instagram page, re: someone questioning the light source in this painting:
"early morning light low behind the 2 cottages, was very odd but recorded it exactly how it was ! Plus the light was on in one window lit from inside with someone possibly having breakfast. I almost didn’t paint it as it looked virtually unreal !! Good old nature throwing an interesting curve ball as it does !!"

“Abundance and destitution are two facets of the one face of God, and to be spiritually alive in the fullest sense is to recall one when we are standing squarely in the midst of the other.”
