The Boys Who Suffered

The big thing about The Knowing is The Suffering. There is a melancholy that seeps into you and makes you think you aren't enough. These characters are hard to watch. I know you asked about shows, but I'm doing some movies as well because I've been thinking about genre history lately. For this it's about whether or not the quiet sadness in me connected to the quiet sadness I perceived in a character in this show.

Moonlight (2016)

He is the saddest boy in my heart. This is the moment that breaks him forever.

Random Mod Story with Mod Reaper: When we were taking Mod Fisher through SOS for the first time, Mod Machinist was having connection issues and we ended up repeating the Quick Time event like 4 times. Eventually they dc'd before the event so they didn't have to do it and came back after it had been cleared only to have us miss the window for the tank Limit Break so we all die... ...except for Mod Machinist who had come back and gained cutscene immunity so we are all laying there as a pile of corpses in front of the boss and there is Mod Machinist off in the corner of the arena, still with the cutscene icon next to their name just standing there. And in the moment of silence because we thought we'd wiped and didn't realize what had happened yet, the boss incredulously shouts, "You still stand!" And we proceed to lose our collective shit and cheered and laughed ourselves silly because the boss looking at a pile of bodies and saying that voice line in that tone while the only living person isn't even in his sightline and had popped back into existence mere seconds before fucking broke us.
