Not to be that goy, but my web browser skills are non existant, and you have been a vital resource for learning about jewish perspectives for me. (Ie. If this ask is too much to deal with. I get it. Ignore it and/or tell me to fuck off)
It has been nightmarishly difficult to differentiate between non antisemitic palestinian advocacy and antisemitc palestinian advocacy. So for the most part my involvement has been, i do not have the spoons for this so im staying out of it and unfollowing and blocking anyone being a blatant asshole about it.
Is the boycott of eurovision one of the less antisemitic parts of the pro-palestine movement or am i going to be treating this as yet another dog whistle?

1) claim #1: Israel should not be allowed to perform because it’s committing genocide. Aside from the fact that quite a few experts have said IT ISN’T: let’s remove every country that’s committed genocide since 1901–
….oh. Well, that’s embarrassing. (And I missed Sweden and its attempts to get rid of the Sámi, so it’s even worse than that graphic makes it look.) Maybe just the ones doing it right now, which is surely just Israel—
…..or not.
Clearly, it’s not actually about genocide.
2) claim #2: Israel should not be able to participate because it isn’t in Europe. There is a small amount of merit in this—except that nobody is calling for Australia, Azerbaijan, or Armenia to be removed on the same grounds. Incidentally, if we’re going based entirely on geographic location, there are two other countries that ought to get the boot by virtue of being at least partly over the Europe-Asia border.
So it’s not actually about location.
3) claim #3: Israel shouldn’t be able to participate because it’s a colony. I’m going to say something controversial: most of Israel is not, because you can’t colonize a place you’re indigenous to, HOWEVER, because the West Bank was intended to be specifically a Palestinian state, I think the settlements there could count as colonization. Okay, I’ll give you that one. Surely the protestors are calling for the removal of all countries that currently have colonial holdings—
….oh.
Special shoutout to the UK, by the way, which IS a colony. The Welsh, Cornish, (some) Irish, and Scottish people are under English rule, and the English have very cleverly put it into their own laws that none of those countries can declare independence unless England says it’s okay.
(Also, I feel like if you’re going to yell about colonization and Eurovision, maybe we should discuss how all Eurovision entries must be in English.)
So it’s not really about colonization.
Claim #4: Israel is trying to sneak propaganda in with its song, so it shouldn’t be allowed to participate.
This one is so fucking stupid I’m just going to say “judge for yourself.”

Yes, it’s about the grief of 10/7. But if you didn’t know that, you WOULDN’T know it, and grief is not political.
So it’s not really about politics or propaganda.
And finally,
Claim #5: Israel shouldn’t be allowed to participate because it’s an ethnostate and those are bad.
So first, Israel is not an ethnostate. Only 73% of its population are Jews; over a quarter belong to other ethnicities. But sure, I’ll play: every country with a population that’s 74% or more from one ethnicity is now disinvited from Eurovision!
….oh.
Also, wanna know why Poland is crossed off in red? Because it’s 98% one ethnicity. Now THAT is an ethnostate.
But this one is getting warmer, because….
It’s not about genocide, or colonialism, or politics…but it is about how many Jews there are.
It’s antisemitism, plain and simple.

Gladly. I've already apologized for that depiction of Kay, acknowledged the antisemitic aspects (I know for a fact I've acknowledged this publicly, but my blog search isn't cooperating with me), and improved on my drawings of her going forward. And I'm willing and capable of addressing a lot of my old characters that I have discontinued or changed for good reason, like Noriko, and the old versions of Akiko, Verity, and Nina.
I think I know who you are now, since you've come to me about this before, with the intention of writing a callout post for me. I really think you should stop perseverating on the past mistakes I've made that I am attempting to make up for, and find something better to do with your time. Unless you have a complaint about something that I am actively perpetuating, not something I've apologized for and fixed, I'm finished with this conversation.

Editor’s note: I’ve been ridiculously busy writing on other sites recently, including a whole week’s worth of media analysis blogging in a new feature called “The Skinny” and my recent essay about “Why I Support Impeachment but Fear Incompetent Democrat Hubris.”
Despite this I wanted to share a few extremely brief thoughts about Greta Thunberg’s climate activism visit to the UN and why coverage of this event in American media is a sick collaborator’s joke.
Look, it’s not like it takes a goddamn genius to see that issue-based coverage of climate catastrophe represents an existential threat to a still-absurdly powerful Pig Empire fossil fuel industry with more than half the American political system already in its pocket.
Furthermore you’d have to be an absolute dolt not to realize that the reactionary right - from the President himself all the way on down to neo-nazi internet hoax artists - have unleashed a relentless wave of toxic unhinged attacks and completely manufactured black helicopter conspiracy bullshit targeting Greta, precisely to alter that bloody narrative.
This isn’t exactly a *new* tactic for the far right either; here’s Jean Paul-Sartre discussing the antisemitic’s (the original ethno-nationalist right) use of bad faith argument to incite, inflame and obscure debate in 1946:
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”
This then only leaves one question - if the revanchist, oil-soaked right is clearly attacking Thunberg to obscure the real truth about climate catastrophe, why the hell does the corporate “liberal” media continue to let them control the discourse surrounding climate activism in open bad faith like this?
Corporate American media could just continue reporting on our collective impending crisis and the data or issues Thunberg is trying to highlight, while noting the right’s toxic dipshittery in a paragraph or two at the bottom of each article - but they don’t. Don’t they realize by now that the far right is happy to be called crazy, bigoted and hypocritical for picking on a teenage climate activist so long as nobody is talking about the horrifying realities Greta is trying to expose?
The sad truth however my friends is that I believe they *do* know, and whether they ignore it because the rich maggots who run “liberal” media corporations are just as tied into the planet-murdering business as those on the right, or because they’re too addicted to outrage clicks to care, is largely irrelevant.
You can’t blame a sixteen year old kid for trying her best, but it’s pretty clear that no amount of talking is going to make the ruling class in America give a flying f*ck about the impending heat death of our planet.
We’re trapped in a coffin ship hurtling towards an angry sun and there’s a myopic pack of deranged sociopaths who mean to kill us all for a spare buck at the controls - no little Swedish girl was ever going to stand a chance against the towering ignorance of Pig Empire capitalism and a society so addicted to oil that it would rather die, than get off the dope.

1) I don’t know how many times I have to explain to people that reading someone’s bio is not fucking doxxing.
2) I did not say the UN is controlled by Hamas. I said they give special treatment to Palestine, and that there is indeed evidence they are working with Hamas. Learn to fucking read.
3) on which note, are you aware they just wildly altered their own numbers a few days ago without warning and made no announcement about it? NO, I don’t fucking trust the UN.
4) ah yes. Peaceful protests WHERE SOMEONE GOT STABBED IN THE EYE FOR WEARING A STAR OF DAVID NECKLACE. Where “protestors” are throwing drinks on Jewish students who are just trying to get to their dorms. Where they’re chanting that they love terrorists. Where colleges have advised Jewish students to stay away for their own safety. Where “protestors” are waving signs with the Israeli flag on them that say FINAL SOLUTION. Where a Jewish student was beaten unconscious for hanging up Bring Them Home posters. THOSE peaceful protests.
5) arresting people who are an active danger to other people is not police brutality. I’m aware police were authorized to use rubber bullets at one of the arrest sites, but I’m not aware of them being used, and I have asked multiple times for someone to show me an article, an arrest report, ANYTHING that indicates they actually were, but when I do I just get incoherent shrieking about how I’m a genocide denier, which tells me no proof exists.
Now if you have seen such an article, from a reliable source, and would like to share it without being an asshole incapable of basic reading comprehension, I would be glad to read it and cross-check it. Even spoiled ignorant jackasses who support terrorism and wave flags that say “a curse upon the Jews” are owed due process. But don’t come into my inbox making multiple false accusations that demonstrate you’ve fandomized a 2000-year-old problem and expect me to take you the least bit seriously.

Not a problem at all! Although a gentle note first, I’m assuming there is only one of you and therefore you are a goy. Goyim is plural. (You can also just say gentile. It’s the same thing, just in English instead of Hebrew.)
