The first ever Phantom Retrospective documentary is here! This one is on the 1916 lost film Das Phantom der Oper and includes a detailed synopsis.
It is the first of hopefully many to come. Feel free to suggest topics for other videos, though I am avoiding ALW topics for the foreseeable future - the goal is to do things not covered by professional documentaries.
On a different subject, I do not like to do this but we are in the process of getting our things moved to a new house and the taxes my parents owe are no small amount... five figures (USD). Das Phantom der Oper (1916) is the first ever film adaptation of the Phantom of the Opera. It is considered a lost film and the only things we know about it are its length (76 minutes), director, writer, and starring cast.
Nils Olaf Chrisander starred as Erik alongside Aud Egede-Nissen as Christine.
Ernst Matray starred as Raoul as well as directing the film. He also married the screenwriter, Greta Schröder.
