Note the striped, sandy hatchling. This is a method of camouflage and lessens with age. The adult is noticeably albino or amelanistic.

The species is bisex, like most of Earth’s vertebrates. The sex with larger gametes (‘females’) become fertile in the planet’s ‘Fall’ annually. They are typically larger than ‘males’ and their sail extends to the base of their tails rather than ending at the neck. A few weeks after insemination, the fertilized egg(s) (1-2 on average) is deposited and carefully incubated. After about 6 Earth-months, a small but capable youngling hatches. The child can walk quite quickly and is immediately ready to consume the same foods as the adults. A Nexian becomes sexually mature at 9-12 Earth years, and stops developing at around 15. The soft tail ‘spade’ is only present on fully developed, sexually mature adults. The crest is also absent from younglings, and grows over time.

i'm actually a little annoyed at how in the first act everyone defaults to the main character being a crusader. in my own view, the mc is more like a very concerned citizen (or a foreigner in my case) who, along with all the other survivors, is trying to help rectify the situation in kenabres.

for instance, my character originally came to the worldwound as a scholar to conduct her own research for personal purposes, and it would be really funny if every time she was called a crusader, she could vehemently deny it, but, alas.

like, i'm overall a little bit upset that the choice of background has no effect on the gameplay, that there isn't a single line of dialogue regarding it… but i'm going off on a tangent.

NO. OF SPOKEN LANGUAGES >> She speaks four languages fluently. Kelish and Osiriani are her first languages, the ones she speaks at home in Nex. She has since learned Taldan and Chthonian/Abyssal.

TONE OF VOICE >> Zeph is very well-spoken. She sounds serious and dry even though most of the words that come out of her mouth are pure sarcasm.

ACCENT >> The limited voice options in WotR have thrown me off, but in my mind, she has what could be the real life accent of someone who was born and raised in Morocco but moved to Los Angeles in their youth. She leans more into an American accent when speaking Taldan and more Moroccan when speaking either Kelish or Osiriani.

DEMEANOR >> She is both as poised and vain as a noblewoman and is as restless and animated as a small child. Even in tiefling-hostile countries, she walks with the same confidence as a human or elf might. She is utterly unphased with what those around her are doing and it very much shows - she is not only the main character in her world, sometimes she feels she is the only character.

POSTURE >> She has good posture. Straight back, looking forward.

It amuses her greatly. During the Daeran romance, she occasionally sprinkled in some well-time cryptic lines just to keep him on his toes (ie. saying "It was our destiny to end up together" right before spilling wine on his expensive suit.)

finding the right word or using the first word that comes to mind? -> It depends on the situation. She can be rather careless at times.

Not really. I think this covers just how much of a chaotic neutral/chaotic evil spoiled brat my beloved tiefling is. She is absolutely terrible, and so fun to play.

Zombies (Paths Beyond)

The walking dead. Brain eater. Shambling corpses. You all know what the classic reanimated slowpoke (not that one) is all about and Pathfinder supplies them in spades. Today, I'm going to handle the four in 2e's first Bestiary since they all get super short entries.

The brute, hulk, plague, and shambler variations all follow the same basic zombie pattern - slow, plodding motions without anything in the way of thought or tactics. They make up for this with customization, the entry comes with multiple additional abilities to make zombies even grosser and tougher. Notably, while d20 games don't usually roll with the infectious dead idea like pop culture does (at least for zombies), the plague zombie does and the plague-ridden ability allows other walking dead to as well. If you want a swarm of walking dead to attack, Bestiary 3 also has the Shambler Troop, which also covers you military necromancy needs.

While the shambling dead make great canon fodder for a villain, think about using them as metaphors in planar adventures.  Obviously, they can be symbols of illness or disease, but given their decaying state, they can also be signs of societal rot or corruption. If you want to pull on Planescape, they can be signs of callousness and cynicism when treated as things rather than human remains. If you've played Torment, think about the Post having flyers nailed to its skull.

Zombies aren't intelligent enough to sing, but in the Furrows entire choruses sing the same songs in Necril. While many are rightly afraid that this is some new scheme of the Whispering Tyrant, the Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye is not convinced. They hire adventures to investigate key junctures between the mortal world and the Negative Energy Plane in Ustalav, Osirion, Geb, and Mzali in order to find the origin of the mysterious undead language.

The Order of the Eternal is a hellknight order convinced that in order to bring perfect law to the planes, mortals must become immortals. Without immortality, they will be subject to the whims of fiends, celestials, gods, and monitors alike. Erkas is a signifer who seeks immortality through undeath, but has chosen a quicker path than a lich or graveknight. He aims to become a zombie lord, but first must refine his reanimation techniques, resulting in an overflow of zombies near his citadel in the Hanging Marches.

The One-In-Many started off as an ordinary Gebbite plague shambler, but exposure to the Nexian war machine granted it intelligence and flung it into the Great Beyond. Now, whenever the One animates a new corpse, its hive mind spreads to infect the new body. One-In-Many is careful about using this power, preferring to act as a covert information broker across the planes. After all, who watches what they say around zombies?

Some fake transformers lore I'm not sure I'll get around to using:

Back in the days of yore on cybertron there were different words for children depending on what type of frame they had. There were 12 general frame types that you could think of as a societal gender rather than caste. One for each of the 12 primes.

Forgelings are of course for Solus prime expys, curvier frame types who may have extra cooling apertures on their upper chassis, ornate cabling, and parts, though usually the pedes, that can emmit sparks(fire).

There are also charmers, for alchemist, who are often rounder; and who might contain liquid (in their systems but not integrated with it, like a gas tank or cement mixer), convert fuel into another fuel or non-standard energy (electricity), or have mono-scopable eyes.

—This is where the phrasing that someone's apprentice is "a little charmer" originated from, rather than the more modern interpretation of being sociable and cute.

Nexus frametypes often have streamlined frames, notable in having visors, eye shields, intake guards, or anything that might hide the face. They aren't always combiners but are none the less called in similar terms. A nexus frame type would usually be called a center link, regardless of if they were actually a combiner or not.

Combiners were often called pieces, but there were differences in regions, creating a variety of terms. Each combiner could be a link, creating a group known as a chain. In the region that would become Helex/Praxus, a combiner that wasn't a "center piece" was known as a Groupie, which later took on a negative connotation.

A young combiner could also be called "a piece of ___" with the blank being filled in with any discriptive adjective or noun. E.g. a piece of blue, a piece of pie, a piece of steel, a piece of sweetness. This phrase requires more familiarity, but a formal usage may also be used to announce a combined form's name. E.g. A piece of bruticus.

– Out of these three, Groupie, Charmer, and Forgeling, only the latter name remained as a notable term in the dawn of the golden age, likely due to the important role blacksmithing took in a community, as well as various ceremonial requirements. While there isn't always a correlation between frame type and function, the modern cybertronian equivalent for a forgeling would be a young female constructicon specifically, both alchemical and Nexian frames include non-constructicons: data sticks, police vehicles, ambulances, firetrucks, etc.

Minicons/minibots had the most diminutive names: mote, crumb, nubbin, but the most common was bit or Bitlet.

Beast formers had the most variety but a general term was Wilding.

–it is uncertain how many Onyxian features were required to be called a wilding, or what features might have been considered as being "beast-like" when transformation wasn't necessary for daily life and many animals were unknown to cybertronians as a whole. Beast formers had the most variety and specificity in child terminology.

Prima type frames are beefy and often pale in colour. They used to be called Recruits.

Megatronus frames are pointy and sharp, they may be huge and purple, but not always. They were called Buds but later on also fell under the term recruit.

- after the Quintessons the term recruit was then seen as a military term under functionalism.

Leige (maximo) bots are flight frames, even while not possessing visible wings. They are usually green with glass accents. They may also have horns/antennae, a distinctive voice, or abilities to alter the weather/clouds. They are called Nymphs.

Quintus inspired bots may have multiple thin limbs, tendrils, or floating body parts. They may also have multiple eyes. They are called Fledglings, spiderlings, driftlings, etc.

Vector type bots tend towards slim frames, though their kibble might lead you to suspect otherwise. They often have the most metallic paints, like gold, bronze, etc, and white. They may also have a high powered core, and integrated pead thrusters. They were called a Prospect or To-be.

–Fledglings and Nymphs, had massive overlap, but later the term fledgling excluded insecticons as functionalism rejected insecticons because they were unable to integrate a quintession cockpit. To-bes also had overlap with Nymphs, due to various flight frames, but eventually, the term fledgling won for most flight frames and Nymph for most insecticons.

Alpha trion bots tend to be more enclosed frames. Smoother with less kibble. They may have long facial accents (beard, crowns) or have pink, blue, purple, or white plating. They always have rounded digits. They were called Chimes.

The thirteeth Prime's category was reserved for bots with very visible biolighting and strong fields. They were called sparklings, a term which took over as the base term for a cybertronian child.

Lastly, there was Amalgamus children, who had amazing transformative abilities, able to Don the appearance of anyone. They were called:

Faust shifts to the other Material Plane and appears somewhere in Arcadia. Inconvenient, but he has wings for a reason. It takes a few days of leisurely flight, interrupted by the devouring of a sea serpent when he feels a bit peckish, to reach the Starstone Isles.

They look approximately the same. Faust hasn’t taken more than a brief dip into Absalom since he arose as a Demon Lord, and no other location on Aroden’s isles has happened to host anyone interesting enough for him to bother with, so he’s certain he’s missing the finer points of how things turned out in this alternate history. But there’s no cackling band of Nexian mages ruling the city, no dragon circling the skies above territorially--nothing obvious to show why things turned out so differently here.

Perhaps all that needed to change was Faustus Lohrenz being born into the same era as Aliah Margolus. They are only two years apart, here and now, rather than the hundreds of years that separate them in Faust’s proper timeline. There’s nothing else of note about this version of himself to speak to the difference in his relationship with Aliah (Faust would know; he’s been following himself for two days now).

The demon lord tucks his numerous wings, eyes, claws, and fleshy appendages away, smoothing his appearance until he looks identical to the version of himself in this world. As a divine being on the level of a god, his divination abilities are impossibly powerful; it’s easy enough to learn of other-Faust’s recent history, including his current research work, and craft a story for himself as he enters Aliah’s lair.

He's not interested in tempting Aliah onto the path of sin, at the moment. He just wants to know why. Why is this Faust so beloved by the man the demon lord has gone quite far out of his way to court, who rejects his advances at every turn?

“Aliah,” he calls out, hanging his doctor’s bag up on the hook Aliah seems to have added for precisely this purpose, “I’ve been working with the sun orchid poultice your sister was kind enough to source, and while I still doubt anyone can reverse-engineer the proper formula, I’ve worked a small quantity of the poultice into a vaporizer that can apply it mid-combat to-- ah,” Faust continues, stepping into Aliah’s open study, “apologies; I’ve run away with myself. How are you?”

Blabbering - aku merasa amat disayangi.

1. Nexian Journey (2011-2013)

Pemberian kakak, waktu itu aku kelas 3 SMA, katanya aku memang sudah perlu alat komunikasi buat nyari kampus. Iya ini hape pertamaku secara resmi. Kupakai selama 3 tahun s.d. Awal kuliah.

2. Andromax V (2013-2014)

Pemberian lagi, sampai sini nexian journey trackball nya udah ngaco. Touchscreen pecah sana sini. Tpi secara fungsi masih ok. Aku ndak ada masalah sih. Mungkin memang dia udah bosen aja sama hapenya. Alhamdulillaah. Nexian resmi aku taruh digudang rumah. Dengan andromax hanya bertahan 1 tahun.

3. Zenfone 5 (2014-2014)

Pemberian 😂 lagi. Nah sampai sini si andromax itu sering eror, komunikasi menjadi sulit, diberilah zenfone 5 ini. Alhamdulillaah Aku selalu bersyur setiap diberi. Tapi kali ini ada rasa, “apa ini nda berlebihan?”. Karena baru beliau pakai beberapa bulan.

Dan apesnya baru aku pakai beberapa bulan Zenfone ini hilang kamar temen sekontrakan, waktu itu aku hendak naik merbabu, keluar sebentar beli keperluan hiking. Dikontrakan cuma ada adikku yang sengaja mau aku ajak naik. Ada orang asing tiba-tiba dateng ke kontrakan nanyain seseorang. Adikku masih polos dan juga ga hafal siapa penghuni nya. Dipersilahkan masuklah ia sama adikku, kali aja yang ia cari ada didalam. Qodarullaah. Hapeku, hape temen 2 orang di charge di tempat yang sama. Qodarullaaah. Hanya beberapa bulan saja dengan zenfone.

4. Nexus 5 (2014-2017)

Aku bilang ke ade, jangan bilang kakak sama bapa ibu. Lalu kuijinkan pulang ia ke kampung. Karena waktu itu sudah masuk KP. Aku pura-pura sibuk dan ga pulang kampung. Akhirnya aku dapet tempat KP ngerjain jalan Tol, dan alhamdulillaah ada lah uang buat makan. Akhirnya tabungan aku pakai buat beli hape ini, bekas. Waktu itu 2,5jt apa ya. Mahal 😂 aku juga pertimbangin lama sekali. aku mikir hape ini masih mumpuni lah 5 tahun kedepan. Dan benar, sampai tahun 2017 masih oke lah. Cuma tombol power nya udah “longgar”. Sepulang dari padang Aku bawa ke LG center di Gambir. Hampir 300rb. Ganti tombol power doang biar muda lagi. Nggak kaget karena umumnya tempat begituan emg begitu. Cuma mau bilang makasih ke hape ini aja dan makasih ke diri sendiri bahwa keputusanmu waktu itu lumayan. 3 tahun bersama nexus.

5. Iphone 6 (2017-2019)

Pemberian lagi 😂 beliau pengen beli hape baru, hape lama dikasih lah ke aku. Alhamdulillaah aku terima aja, ga baik ditolak. Lalu nexus 5 nya karena masih oke aku kasih ke ibu. Meskipun bekas. Aku harap cintanya nyampe dan tetap besar seperti sedia kala. Jadi Hape pertama ibu. Sampai 2021 😂😂😂 karena battreynya suka ngedrop buat video call. Akhirnya nexus disimpan dirumah. Sama iphone ini bertahan selama 2 tahun.

6. Samsung Gal. S10 (2019-2019)

Iphone 6 battreynya sering lowbat, waktu di denpasar sering banget kelapangan yang perlu brightness tinggi jadi makin boros. Nah pas balik ke jakarta aku ganti battrey. Aman sentosa. Apesnya, dijatuhin ponakan. Hancur sehancur-hancurnya. Aneh. Bener hancur. Gatau gimana dia ngejatuhinnya. Kata ibu waktu aku tidur dia becanda ngambil hape dan jatuh ga tinggi sebenere. Masih bisa dipakai cuma aku males harus jelasin ke tiap orang yang nanya kenapa hape bisa begitu. Lalu dikasihlah lagi 😂 galaxy s10, tapi jarang kupakai. Karena agak besar, mungkin nda terbiasa saja. Lalu aku ganti LCD touchscreen sekalian. Biar enak lagi digenggam iphone 6 nya. Waktu itu di irepairABA 600rb.

7. Iphone 7 (2019-2021)

Iphone 6 mulai terasa lemot. Dibuat kerja udah mulai jadi masalah. Lalu aku mulai nyari iphone 7 diinternet. Kata temen Di renanstore cukup trusted, kenapa iphone 7, karena udah enak aja iphone 6, dicepetin aja. Lalu kakak tiba-tiba minta didisainin rumah. Aku sering kerumah buat ngobrolin disainnya. Diakhir tiba-tiba aku dibeliin iphone 7 meskipun bekas, Tapi red edition 256Gb itung-itung makasih katanya. Padahal ga pernah ngomong sedikitpun aku pengen beli hape. Dan samsung kemarin kan baru aja dikasih? Oh iya, setiap kerumah aku pura-pura handphone utamanya samsung galaxy S10. Dan iphone 6 itu sudah dianggap tidak ada. Jadi dikampung ada acara bikin jersey,dimintainlah sumbangan. Lalu aku minta temen kerumah buat jual iphone 6 nya. Laku berapanya bisa dipakai buat jersey waktu itu tahun 2020. Nah ditahun 2021 hape ade ilang 😂 dugaannya jatuh waktu perjalanan pulang dari kost. Dia make nexus 5 😂😂😂 yaudah pake aja, kalo mau beli hape baru ya nabung. Tapi mungkin memang qodarullaah. Aku dibeliin iphone 12 sama Pak Bos dikantor 😂 entah ini rejekinya ade atau rejekiku. Akhirnya iphone 7 kukirim ke kampung.

Kesimpulan :

- alhamdulillaah betapa sayangnya Allaah kepadaku.

- Ternyata aku beli hape sampai dengan hari ini baru sekali.

Selamat ulang tahun, Bapak.

Hari ini Bapak berulangtahun yang ke-73, meski kupanggil 'bapak', sejatinya beliau adalah kakekku. Hingga usianya yang ke tujuh puluh tiga, kami tak pernah sekalipun merayakannya. Bukan karena tak mau merayakan, namun Ibu dan kedua tanteku hampir tak pernah tahu hari lahir Bapak. Sampai beberapa waktu lalu kami melihat kartu keluarga dan secara kolektif berusaha mengingat hari lahir beliau.

Meski hubungan Bapak dengan anak-anak dan cucunya (yang mana hanya aku) tak terlalu dekat, Bapak tetap memiliki tempat spesial di hati setiap kami. Meski sebenarnya Bapak lebih banyak memberikan luka dan trauma pada kami.

Kukira toxic relationships hanya berlaku dalam hubungan romantis. ketika kupelajari lebih lanjut, hubunganku dengan Bapak dapat dikategorikan sebagai hubungan yang toksik. Bapak memang bukan seorang yang lembut dalam perilaku dan tutur katanya. Ketika aku masih anak-anak, seringkali kudipukulnya dengan sapu, sandal, dan benda tumpul lainnya yang saat itu berada dalam jangkauannya. Selain pukulan, Bapak juga sering mengeluarkan kata-kata kasar seperti 'goblok', dan perkataan merendahkan lainnya kepada kami. Jarang sekali Bapak dapat diajak berbicara tanpa nada tinggi.

Sekali waktu, Bapak pernah memarahiku dan mengataiku seperti orang gila hanya karena aku menari mengikuti lagu kesukaanku. Saat itu aku masih kelas 6 SD. Apa salahnya menjadi seorang anak kecil yang ekspresif? Kuingat bahwa saat itu aku langsung terdiam karena Bapak begitu marah.

Anehnya, jika kalian bertanya padaku saat usiaku masih belasan hingga awal dua puluhan, siapa orang yang paling kusayangi, aku dengan yakin akan menjawab Bapak. Hal ini karena aku mengingat bagaimana sikap lembut Bapak beberapa waktu setelah kemarahannya reda. Ia akan mendongengiku cerita lama, membawakan satu kresek camilan ketika pulang dari warung, dan tak jarang kudibuatkan mainan dari kayu. Bapak adalah orang yang kreatif dan cerdas. Pikirannya tajam, begitu juga dengan mulutnya.

Bapak tak enggan untuk menjual sapinya ketika aku membutuhkan uang untuk membayar kebutuhan sekolah, atau untuk membeli keperluanku yang lain. Ponsel pertamaku dibelikan Bapak saat aku masih SD, Nexian yang memiliki bentuk hampir mirip dengan BlackBerry. Bapak meminta tolong salah satu tetangga kami untuk mengantarnya pergi membeli ponsel yang kuinginkan.

Bapak mempunyai selera makan yang sama denganku. Ketika Bapak tahu aku suka makanan tersebut, maka Bapak tak akan menyentuhnya sama sekali dan membiarkanku menghabiskannya sendiri. Semasa kuliah, saat aku tengah makan, seringkali aku akan menelepon Bapak hanya untuk menemaniku menyantap makanan hingga selesai. Setiap momen Bapak menelepon, hal yang selalu diingatkannya adalah untuk tak pernah lupa mematikan peralatan listrik apapun saat di kos.

Jauh dari rumah dan hanya pulang sesekali membuat hubungan kami sedikit membaik. Namun, ketika pandemi hingga saat ini, kami kembali berkumpul dalam satu atap yang sama, rasanya seperti neraka. Setiap trauma yang berusaha kusembuhkan, kembali terbuka seperti luka baru yang masih basah.

Bapak selalu merokok. Meski sejak kecil kuselalu mengeluhkan asapnya, Bapak tak pernah sepenuhnya berhenti. Saat pandemi (dan sayangnya hingga saat ini) keuangan kami terus memburuk. Aku ingat bahwa aku dan Tante pengin sekali membeli pentol seharga dua ribu, untuk kami gunakan sebagai lauk makan. Namun, Emak melarang keras, katanya kami tak punya uang yang tersisa.

Satu jam berselang, Emak datang dari luar membawa satu bungkus kresek hitam yang berisi rokok. Ternyata, Emak lebih memilih membelikan Bapak rokok agar Bapak berhenti marah dan mengumpat. Adiksi yang dimiliki Bapak membuat kami harus selalu mengalah guna menjaga emosinya. Jika rokoknya telat, Bapak bisa mengamuk terus seperti orang kesetanan.

Bapak adalah orang pertama yang mengajariku secara langsung apa itu patriarki, jauh sebelum aku mengenal terma tersebut. Bapak juga yang membuatku akhirnya tahu alasan dibalik keanehanku yang selalu tertarik, dan sialnya menarik, di mata para laki-laki yang toksik dan abusive. Suatu hal yang akhirnya dengan susah payah harus kusembuhkan sendiri, karena aku tak mau mengulangi apa yang terjadi dalam keluarga ini.

Meski begitu, Bapak sebenarnya orang yang sangat kembut. Maskulinitasnya begitu rapuh, maka dari itu Bapak berusaha menggunakan cara kasar untuk tetap memiliki kuasa atas kami. Bapak akan menangis ketika aku melawannya, bertanya-tanya mengapa cucunya seperti ini. Tanpa mau menyadari bahwa karena didikannya lah aku menjadi diriku yang sekarang. Bapak juga menangis kita kuucapkan selamat ulang tahun. Ia tak terang-terangan menangis, tapi kulihat dari belakang bahwa ia menyeka mata dan suaranya tampak bergetar.

Selamat ulang tahun, Bapak. Semoga Bapak sehat selalu dan panjang umur agar bisa melihatku pulih dari trauma masa lalu yang sudah kau torehkan. Kusadari bahwa ketidakmampuanmu untuk mengontrol amarah, kegagalanmu untuk mengekspresikan cinta, dan maskulinitasmu yang rapuh, semuanya karena memang kau juga dibesarkan di keluarga yang toksik.

Selamat ulang tahun, Bapak. Sayangnya, cucumu hanya aku. Cucu yang saat ini hanya dapat memberimu rujak favoritmu sebagai hadiah ulang tahun. Tak tahu kapan hidupku akan berubah. Tapi semoga saja masih mampu memberimu sesuatu sebelum akhirnya kau beristirahat bersama Tuhan.

Lead 1: find a woman and convince her to become Iomedae's herald and she will give us a weapon that will help

Lead 2: head to Geb to locate Arazni, Florin needs to follow up on the Blood Lord stuff wrt his (now deceased) dad, Lucian also has stuff to do there

Iomedae lets us take stuff from her armory (anything common or uncommon as long as we don't break the game)

Everyone is dumped in a desert, we spend WAY too much time discussing desert survival because I mention I watched a show about it once

We encounter a deserted caravan. There are camels doing camel things. Kaisarion has a vision of a bandit who is stabbed, no sign of anyone

(OOC: This is the missing Nexian caravan which was posted to our job board at the beginning of the game.)

Everyone dithers until Florin decides to jump on the lead cart.

The enchanted camels immediately get into position, one completely turns its head around (very creepy) to ask for a destination.

A pleasant magic caravan ride ensues. There is hummus. Florin thinks hummus is too spicy.

They arrive in Nex and collect their platinum.

No time to sightsee though, they need to catch a train.

There are two trains they can catch. Florin, with the only good rolls I've been making (Perception) sees one of their targets board the train and immediately chases her onto the train bound to Alkenstar (and Geb).

They can't get into her private car, predictably. Pocket wants to exit through a hatch and head across to her car from the roof for a conversation. Florin hates that idea but Pocket explains how they can use their freakish anatomy to keep their balance. Florin and Lyric both offer to distract the (golem) guards. Pocket thinks we shouldn't even bother with a distraction because they can stealth (rogue shit).

So, they have a plan.

Nexian Spellspy (Witch Archetype)

One might assume that a master of the art of espionage would be a rogue or other naturally sneaky class, but intrigue is not limited to such professions. Indeed, in the mageocrasy of Nex, they like to throw magic into everything, and some witches, primarily with patrons of intrigue and the like, have taken advantage of their particularly strong bond with their familiar to become spies in their own right.

Though associated with Nex, these witches can be found anywhere where magic and politics collide. Some might spy on other mages to steal new arcane research for themselves or the highest bidder, or upon other political figures for various reasons.

Either way, these spies are the sort of individuals that warrant the various anti-divination spells and effects that are available in the core rules and beyond, giving them added use beyond warding the BBEG against scry and die tactics as well as other sorts of magic that can bypass plot points.

 As magically-inclined spies, it only makes sense that these witches would ward themselves constantly with anti-divination magic.

Their biggest strength, however, is using those divinations themselves, using their familiar to act as a relay for such spell, enhancing their potential range. However, this grants no additional ability to see what the familiar sees, so unless the divination also provides visual information, they may miss crucial details.

Of course, they also know that other spellcasters will want to spy on them in return, so thankfully, they learn to record the information from their own divinations, reflexively supplying them as a false positive when the caster uses such magic, of course, if the information does not match what the spell was supposed to provide, it can be immediately obvious they are being deceived, so these spies often acquire more than one false or mundane divination results each day to have multiple ready to go.

The hexes associated with this archetype mostly deal with their familiar, divination, and ill omens, particularly those that debilitate foes that witness or hear them.

Looking into a divination-focused witch in an intrigue campaign? This archetype might fit the bill. You’ll want to pack plenty of divination effects, not only for information gathering but also for buffing and debuffing. Definitely pick a stealthy familiar too, possibly with the infiltrator archetype. If you can get a familiar that speaks, they can help fill you in on details that your spells cast through them might miss as well. Don’t forget to round out your spell list and hexes with other useful options too.

 What’s really interesting is how the nature of a witch’s patron factors into this. Spellspies with obviously knowledge and stealth themes might simply be run of the mill patrons of their type. However, if you pick out a patron that lacks such an appropriate theme, what might this imply? A strength patron might also have an aspect of both body and mind, or be associated with professional sports where scoping out the competition is a thing, while a season patron (either the seasons theme or one of the individual seasons) might also be a powerful fey spirit, for whom such intrigues are a delightful distraction.

  Though she seems like a mere musician, albeit an exotic one, Ulira is always watching and listening for new gossip, even while playing, her thrush familiar filling the naiad in on the goings on of the city and key individuals through their link and channeled spells. Those who know her can ask for her expertise, but her prices are high.

 In an attempt to keep the spying familiars of her rivals out, Sky Mage Anzier imported a colony of leaf rays for her private arboretum, trusting that any small creature that does not belong will quickly be envenomed and serve as fertilizer for more of the plant creatures. However, some of the plants have escaped, and if not rounded up, will become a major pest for the city.

 A well-known information broker and mage has gone missing, and the party’s employer witnesses a strange sight when trying to scry her, revealing a vision of tentacles and fungus in what seems to be the bowels of the undercity. The party is tasked with finding out exactly what happened to her and the meaning behind this vision.
