How Much You Loathe (How They Love You)
This feels very Winter x Miranda lol, like "I care about you against my will" kind of vibes. Their relationship was built from clash after clash, yet there's a growing (albeit begrudging) respect on both sides. This fic would specifically cover the aftermath of the ME2 suicide mission when, having survived, Winter and Miranda would want to figure out what the hell they are to each other, where they go from here.
It would culminate after Arrival, when even Winter is brought low by the massive casualties they inflicted. Miranda comes to Winter's cabin to offer ruthless calculus as a way of showing support because she cares, and Winter absolutely is not in the mood for that kind of reassurance. They definitely end up hate-making-out that devolves into not-hate, partly because they know what they have can't last.
A Castle on The Hill
After vanquishing the Mother, peace returns to Amaranthine. Then, one morning, Neri receives a report of a haunted castle. Varel explains it's not really a castle, not by Vigil's Keep standards, but the nickname of a large house overlooking a village. That house was built to look like a castle by a minor noble who abandoned it after the growing cost of the project threatened to liquidate all of his holdings.
Neri ignores the report until they get another. And another. Concerned about darkspawn (or, worse, a tear in the Veil), the Vigil's Keep crew heads to the "castle" to investigate. They find a maze within because the minor noble thought castles should have lots of hallways and small rooms and secret passages. Which happen to be perfect breeding grounds for nugs.
Anders figures it out first but decides that's a boring result and uses magic to make it seem like there are actual ghosts in the house. (Velanna may help once she discovers how much Oghren Does Not Like Ghosts.) Hilarity ensues.
Four Times (X) Says Hello - Five Times They Say Goodbye
I think I need to hand this one to Winter too. It'd feature four of the first Mass Effect's side quests in which they greet someone they plan to/seriously threaten to kill, possibly focusing on the Helena Blake sequence, and then contrast with one time they didn't say hello first (one of the Cerberus missions, or the Garrus personal quest mission with Dr. Saleon).
Liberosis
(Thank you for including the definition!) This fic would dive into Heather Cousland's growth as Ferelden rebuilds during the years of Dragon Age 2. How she learns to live without revenge driving her, how she builds the reputation of the Dark Wolf beyond a single person so that she doesn't always have to carry that role with her, how she builds trust with Neri and rebuilds some sort of relationship with Nathaniel. Her traumas aren't forgotten, but they no longer assault her upon waking nor torment her sleep. It would be after this growth that she and Anora figure out how to be together despite politics and arranged marriages and physical distance.

Heather frowns at the sight of the arlen of Amaranthine picking up not a staff, but a sword and shield. “What are you doing?”
Neri raises both eyebrows. “Preparing to spar. What did you think I was doing?”
“But you’re a mage.”
Nathaniel laughs. “Clearly, you’ve never seen Neri in battle before.”
She glares at him. Blighted Howe knew this would happen, didn’t he. “Of course I haven’t.”
“I’ve studied arcane warrior techniques,” Neri explains, their tone diplomatic. “That means I can apply magic in melee combat.”
“That’s… terrifying.”
The feral hint in Neri’s responding smile sends a chill down Heather’s spine. “I used that to my advantage to stop the Blight. Don’t worry, I won’t rely on magic today.”
This friendly match now feels much less so. Heather quickly re-calibrates her mental image of the Hero of Ferelden. The stories about them must hold more truth than she thought.

I'm Ani, I use they/them pronouns, and my queer labels are fluid but I strongly identify with demi/graysexuality. I can recite most of The Mummy from memory, I was a massive Star Wars fan before they made the books I grew up with no longer canon, I watch too much anime, and I nerd out over science and (some) technology.
My previous job burned me out beyond belief, partly due to pandemic demands with 70-80-hour work weeks becoming normal for a while. (My weeks are now 50-60 hours in a much better job, and I've begun recuperating. Slowly.) But I got back into Dragon Age and Mass Effect during the initial pandemic lockdown, and I found a wonderful community because of those games.
At the moment, my strongest hyperfixation is Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), specifically my comfort characters Levi Ackerman and Hange Zoë alongside an OC -- Shion Miller -- who loves them both.
I'm also on my first (blind!) playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3 and am still floundering through Act 2 as of early December 2023. Vix Ternion is my chaos storm sorcerer and I adore them.

Living in a city like Denerim packed with people and an influx of Blight refugees, catching a cold is inevitable, even in good weather. But Heather doesn’t have time to be sick. Her information regarding what may be driving the increased unrest in the alienage is too critical to delay sharing, too sensitive to entrust to someone else to deliver.
She chews on another slice of elfroot and begs the Maker that this one will finally be sufficient to calm her urge to cough before it’s time to sneak into the royal palace. Nothing can stand between her and her rendezvous with Anora.

Last book I read: Aside from textbooks or science papers, uhhh… a volume in the 86 series. I think. I can't wait for work to calm down in a month so I can read for fun again~
Greatest literary inspiration: Most recently, NK Jemisin's worldbuilding and ability to weave rich tales within those worlds and complex rules. The Broken Earth trilogy really, really appeals to the scientist in me.
Things in my current fandom(s) I want to read but I don't want to write: In Attack on Titan, anything Historia/Ymir but particularly stories where Ymir lives. For Dragon Age, I want happy and cute f/f fluff. (I want to get back to my Anora/f!Cousland pairing, but I just can't seem to keep it fluffy, lol.)
Things in my current fandom(s) I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: ahahaha other than the Levi/Hange/Shion (OC) longfic that's devoured my creative output? Historia/Sasha which still could happen and some of the awkwardness between Neri and Alistair after they reject his advances during Origins.
You can recognize my writing by: Queer characters with self-confidence issues who still strive to handle the responsibilities thrust upon them. Also lots of dialogue.
My most controversial take (current fandom[s]): Hmmmm. AoT-wise, maybe that I headcanon Hange as aceflux? (They're obsessed with Titans and monstrous things in general, but that doesn't have to imply that they're wildly horny for monsters. Or in general.) With respect to Dragon Age, it's not exactly controversial, but I genuinely adore DA2 and all of the companions in it. Yes, all of them.
Top three favourite tropes: These are the three that first came to mind rather than my ultimate favorites, but: 1) kabedon~ (I will include one whenever I possibly can); 2) a character caring for their beloved who's been injured or fallen ill or being the one cared for (bonus points if a love confession hasn't happened yet); 3) grump + sunshine pairings.
What’s your current writing mood? (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): Probably a 3. I had a months-long super productive phase, and then Day Job took over my life. Now I'm lucky to write more than a hundred words a week; this next chapter does not want to cooperate with me.

Three ships: Running with the OC list and the canon list idea~ Levi/Hange/Shion from Attack on Titan (brainrot will brainrot) and Neri Surana/Anders and Heather Cousland/Anora Mac Tir from Dragon Age. For canon x canon pairings, Shionne/Alphen from Tales of Arise, Lloyd/Noel from the Legend of Heroes series, and recently I can't stop thinking about Nyreen/Aria from Mass Effect.
Last song: Lauv - Chasing Fire ("I'm chasing fire when I'm running after you / You got that something that I never wanna lose" whew)
Last film: If the actually final final two lengthy episodes of Attack on Titan don't count, a rewatch of Glass Onion with family over the winter holidays.
Currently reading: a bunch of things! Tearmoon Empire, 86, anxiously awaiting the next volume of The Summer You Were There (which apparently will rip out my heart). Well, I say "currently," but I haven't touched a book all week…
Currently craving: Other than sleep, a spicy burger with a thin beef patty, a huge pile of perfectly crisp lettuce, and a toasted bun. I might have to add those ingredients to our weekly shopping list…

15) What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
My two most beloved fics, An emotion I won't name (Dragon Age) and Cut to the Feeling (Attack on Titan). Both of them are ongoing, with the latter unfortunately taking almost all of my creative bandwidth as of late. But Neri's journey is embedded into my soul, and I will carve out some time during the upcoming holidays to draft their next chapter. As for Shion, well, it's ridiculous how many scenes I've already envisioned for her OT3.
19) What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
Heather Cousland x Anora Mac Tir. I've written many snapshots of their rollercoaster relationship, and I feel like I'm so close to having a coherent-enough story to start posting. There's so much delicious angst to explore between them, especially since I envision Heather as a non-Warden Cousland who takes on the Dark Wolf mantle in Denerim during the Blight.
27) What do you listen to while writing?
Either instrumental music (often from soundtracks) or songs that infuse my head with brainrot. I'm not shy about putting one or a handful of tracks on repeat for specific scenes/interactions/emotions that I'm trying to convey in my pales-by-comparison writing. That kind of music tends to fade into the background when I really get into writing, and sometimes I'll "come to" only to discover that the music stopped playing a while ago, haha. (I love that kind of writing session.)
