There’s is a lot of hope, especially with the boom of fans joining the fandom after the movie dropped last year, people making more art on tumblr, twitter, tik tok, and so on. But also a a lot of doubt, especially after JJ Conway’s post on twitter.

BUT…I still think there is a chance…a GOOD chance. WITH ORIGINAL CAST AND CREW! Why?

We live in the internet. Information is more then easy to get out now thanks to social media. There is all kinds of ways to get the word out to people. Let’s abuse it. 😎

Fans have brought back shows before.

We need a MAJOR push through social media, more fans, more art, it’s up to us…and I think we can do it!

Fans convinced Netflix to bring Sense8 back for a finale

Fans convinced fox to bring back “Futurama” after it was cancelled in 1999.

Hey Arnold got the jungle movie thirteen years after the show was cancelled

Animaniacs got a 3 season revival 22 years after it stopped airing.

Brooklyn 99 was cancelled in 2018, and the fans convinced NBC to pick up the series.

Arrested Development was canceled after 3 seasons, but AFTER it was cancelled, it grew an audience and they made it come back!

Fans saved the original Star Trek in the 60s with letters.

They did it. Why can’t we?

2. Pester Nickelodeon and Netflix on social media (THE BIG ONE Y’ALL, THIS IS THE MOST DIRECT AND IMPORTANT)

Be polite, be non-toxic (don’t be rude or mean, the boys would not want that, and the Nick/Netflix won’t listen), but be LOUD, PASSIONATE, AND ANNOYING! Ask for DVDs of the show/movie, and then BUY THOSE DVDs!

MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR THE FULL ORIGINAL CAST AND CREW TO COME BACK, INCLUDING ANDY SARIANO AND ANT WARD.

“Dear Nickelodeon/Netflix/Viacom, I can’t tell you how much Rise means to me, and I really love that you put the show on air. But it was not fair that the show was cancelled before it got the chance to reach the audience it deserved, only because of a few bad reviews and a lack of advertising. We want the original crew to come, Flying Bark, for the show to get it’s full second season restored, and it’s five season run like it was originally intended. Even though Rise is the first and only TMNT I have ever loved, I don’t believe in shaming other fans for looking forward to, or enjoying other TMNT series. Gatekeeping like that was what stopped Rise from (heh) Rising as high as it should have. All Rise fans are welcome, and all TMNT fans are welcome. Rise deserves to reach more fans, it deserves another season, and it does not need to knock down other TMNT series to do it. Show them your love and your need for more Rise, without making other TMNT fans feel unwelcome.

TOPIC 1 : CHAMPAGNE MAMI

Megan must have been pregnant during the VMAs and the Met Gala. The mention of 'future baby daddy' on VMAS, their unusual 'maternity' pose together while she was wearing the nude dress and the song 10 weeks one day would include mid september as part of pregnancy term.

Yet she makes sure to mention drinking champagne both in her stylist friend (who I found always to be very passive aggressive towards Kells but that could just be me) and on the Met Gala red carpet .

-On her friend stylist video (if fans clock this like they did the kellyvisions, I'm sure it's gonna be soon deleted.... watch it, hopefully somebody clips it before it's gone) she is seen opening the bottle of champagne and is seen in the next clips toasting with a glass (could have been something else in her defense... there is fake champagne for kids or apple juice to give you same visual effect). -On the red carpet of the Met Gala interview by NBC NY, when asked about dream table, she mentions wanting to hang with the people she already knows (Kim K, Hailey...) and to drink champagne with them.

These are some options I thought about on why A PREGNANT WOMAN would mention champagne and at least (let's give her the benefit of the doubt) pose holding spirit it in a vid:

1) The woman was never actually pregnant to begin with 2) the woman planned to abort anyways so she drank it, twice? 3) The woman was carrying a baby but really didn't care that much: some experts allow up to a glass, not the first months tho, later on during the pregnancy, on special events. Some women go on with their bad habits because they just don't care enough for their future baby to take a break from their lifestyle. 4) Megan actually never drank but made sure to mention alcohol twice in order to deny any rumors that could have possibly came out because a) the pregnancy was at risk, b) it was too early to have people know about it c) she was yet to make up her mind about it and wanted to keep her options open.

In megan's case, she already have three kids, an auto-immune disease that would make a pregnancy very difficult to live, a has-been career she needs to revive and a body she invested thousands and thousands of dollars in, allegedly.

Yeah she was supposedly pregnant at the vmas. A lot of people pretend to drink while they’re pregnant because they dont want anyone to know yet. It's possible that the band filmed their segment that day, however, if the various concert history websites are accurate, they were supposed to be playing in Irvine, CA. On the 30th, they were supposed to be playing a show with Danzig and Godflesh in Fresno, CA. The band does not appear to have had any scheduled gigs between the Rockfabrik show in Ludwigsberg, Germany on the 16th and the Fresno show on October 30th. If one allows for travel time and time to shake off some jetlag, it's likely that the segment was filmed anywhere between October 17th and October 29th. They could have also filmed it before they left to do the summer European festival circuit in September, or, really any time they were close enough to the East Coast for a quick jaunt over to New Jersey to make sense. the reason why the other twit replacement apps aren't as insidious as threads (zucc/fb owned) should be obvious, but i'll list some things:

• private messages are sold/given to police no warrant: this could be anything used against you, could be protest info, where you've been, etc.

• right wing propaganda/misinfo is lucrative for facebook. this is something that heavily affects the global south btw.

• they lie about views and growth for business accounts to keep you on their platform. the case i know best is that they inflated college humor's analytics to compete w youtube. this resulted in so many businesses throwing money and labour at facebook w out much return.

Blu-ray Reviews - Project: Alf / The Super Mario Bros. Movie

This week I got to review not one but two blu-rays that brought me back to my tween years!

Project: Alf

In Sept. 1986, one of my favorite sitcoms of the 80s premiered on NBC. In a similar way that Mork and Mindy combined sci-fi and comedy, Paul Fusco’s sitcom creation Alf did the same. Gordon Shumway from the planet Melmac crash lands on Earth in the garage of the suburban Tanner family. Given the nickname Alf (for Alien Life Form), the family realizes he’s harmless and decide to take him in. Most of the show was based around the fish-out-of-water situations Alf found himself in. What made Alf so funny was that he was kind of a combination of a vaudeville character and a “Masshole”. For the next 4 years, Alf was my favorite TV show. I was a member of the Alf Fan Club (I got a birthday card each year), had the poster on my wall, had the doll, and whatever else I could get my hands on. It also had several spin-offs: the Alf cartoon, Alf Tales cartoon, the Marvel comic book series, a 1996 TV movie, a 2004 talk show and numerous cameo appearances. Let me go back to that 1996 TV movie. In Feb. 1996, ABC broadcast the made-for-TV movie Project: Alf. It was released on DVD in 2005, but has since been hard to come by. This week it was released on blu-ray by Liberation Hall.

After the series finale, Alf was captured by the Alien Task Force. In this TV movie, Alf has been detained in an air force base, but he’s actually doing well: playing poker games with the guards and whatnot. But his nemesis is Colonel Gilbert Milfoil (Martin Sheen) who tries to have Alf killed, but then some air force scientists help him escape and...hilarity ensues.

Look, the fact of the matter is most of the time TV characters who return to TV with a made-for-TV movie, it is kind of bad (with some exceptions), but since I happen to be a fan of Alf, I kind of liked this even if it was ridiculous at times. The thing that was fun about this is that so much of the series was Alf around the Tanner house and here he is not just at the air force base but out in the world. It’s also a kick to see so many serious actors like Miguel Ferrer, Ed Begley Jr. and of course Martin Sheen acting with Alf. About a year after this movie, I worked on Ted Demme’s film Monument Ave, which Sheen was in. Most of the cast and crew were in awe of Sheen because he had been in Apocalypse Now, but I was excited to know I was working on a movie with someone who co-starred with the old Alfer! It’s cool to see this get the blu-ray treatment for fans like me .

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

When I was a kid, I got into video games at exactly the moment and time when Atari and video arcades were sweeping the nation in the early 80s. One of my favorites was Donkey Kong, and then there was a spin-off game Mario Bros. featuring the plumbers from Donkey Kong, Mario and Luigi. Then a few years later on Nintendo, they had Super Mario Bros., which was so addictive for me as a tween. There were tons of other games featuring these the Mario brothers and loads of spin-offs including the a children’s TV show and a 1993 live-action movie. Then this past Spring saw the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a computer-animated feature film from Illumination (known for Minions) that broke all kinds of box office records (as of this writing it is the highest grossing film of 2023 so far and #14 of All Time domestically).

I went to the movie theater with my son to see it in April, with a mostly family-oriented audience. The movie’s plot is somewhat thin: NY plumbers Mario and Luigi get sucked into the Warp Pipe and sent to Mushroom Kingdom and Dark Lands respectively. They meet loads of characters, some good and some bad. The film was actually better than I thought it would be. It wasn’t amazing and it lacked a lot of the magic that Pixar movies have, but there was a certain charm to it and some funny parts I was able to laugh along with my son to. Much of the fun was the references (notably the music) to the original video games and the voice casting that is a blast for the parents watching, i.e. Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogen and more. 

The film is very colorful and filled with impressive visuals, which is what makes this blu-ray worth checking out. In terms of features, there’s some standard featurettes about casting, making-of, a lyric video with Jack Black, and more. But in the end if you aren’t a fan of the movie, it’ll be hard to get excited about all of the extras. But the movie in blu-ray is all the bonus feature you need here!
