DO YOU KNOW WHAT’S ON FOR TOMORROW?!? It’s bandcamp Friday—the day bandcamp waives all revenue sharing fees on my music. That means all funds go straight to the artist, like me—your grateful friend (colleague, kinfolk, neighbor…) + your support helps to underwrite my gigs playing for people with dementia & disability in assisted living homes.
On bandcamp, you pay “whatever you can afford,” big or small. My entire online discography is “on sale” + some CDs,vinyl LPs, and photos—and I will sign everything! If you can’t make a purchase, please hit the “follow” button). You have my deepest gratitude! JJB
On 3rd July, 1973 – with a little encouragement from David Bowie himself – pianist Mike Garson found himself opening what would be Ziggy and The Spiders’ last show on that fateful summer night, by playing a medley of four of David’s most celebrated songs, a medley which included Life On Mars? #4 in the UK chart at that precise moment.
Now, 50 years to the day, Mike will return to that same stage to open the global premiere of the newly restored version of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture.
Mike will fly in to London specially to perform and will then take part in a panel conversation preceding the screening of the film, which will also be shown in over 600 cinemas throughout Europe simultaneously. Further screenings will also be shown throughout July in the US, Australia, and Latin America.

David Bowie did something in this vein a few times during the 90's, if I'm not mistaken. For instance, he released the original version of the tune on the link without his name on the single and the latter became successful in clubs. He later covered his own piece under the name Tao Jones Index, which was him and his backing band at the time. Sadly, he only worked as Tao Jones on a couple of gigs, because the song does show this could've evolved into a dance project for Bowie. However, would this have gone the way of Tin Machine? Look, I get 90's Bowie is cherished now, but things weren't like this at that time, so …
George Cheyne: November 2023
SO there I am, like a rabbit in the headlights, standing out in front of my music class wishing I was somewhere else…anywhere else.
Ahead of me are 30 pairs of eyes piercing through me like lasers through soft butter.
Behind me on the blackboard are a jumble of musical notes which I have failed to identify.
To my left, sitting behind a battered piano, is my…
