Kyoko Inoue does a ~39-rotation giant swing on Cuty Suzuki
from Kyoko Inoue & Takako Inoue versus Cuty Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki, AJW All Star Dreamslam ~25th Anniversary~, 04/02/1993
[thanks to @coquinaclutch and @limbreaper for watching this match with me last night! <3 Also, WATCH THIS MATCH.]
i wish the wrestling bros who make tshirts would discover joshi puroresura other than manami toyota. i would kill for a Mayumi Ozaki shirt or a Akira Hokuto shirt.
In August of 2020 I fought inside Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium for the last time, against Mayumi Ozaki.
Now in April of 2024, I find myself wrestling inside Yokohama BUNTAI for the very first time.
Just as how the venue is different, I too am different, and April 27th will see me standing in the ring victorious against you, Hanan, and the Wonder of Stardom champion will be proclaimed as still being under the possession of Saori Anou.
Saki Akai announcing her retirement like really really sucks don’t get me wrong but it’s all of the stuff around it that’s overwhelming me. Himeka JUST retired, Yuka’s leaving Japan. And even more than that, seeing fans talk about her going for 10 years like she’s a grizzled veteran who gave us an epic, historic run, as if any man retiring after only 10 years isn’t seen as a shockingly, sadly short career. We really, really do so desperately need more Takako Inoues starting in the 80s and wrestling for decades and not talking about quitting and Mayumi Ozakis just going and starting their own fucking promotion. We deserve women who wrestle for dozens of years, who are allowed to start families without needing to completely disappear from the public eye or devote their entire being from then on to solely motherhood. Because the depressing reality is that even if I could just immediately stop caring about wrestling, it’s not even a wrestling problem, it’s a caring about women at all problem.
