Through the power of protest art, individuals can provoke thought, foster unity, inspire action, and challenge the existing systems perpetuating inequality. By embracing and supporting protest art, we open doors to a more inclusive society where everyone can be heard, understood, and empowered.
“My wish: use art to turn the world inside out.” – JR
Thanks to the team at Printed Editions for sharing our guest curation about the power of protest art.

BLOG PROMPT: What is Video Art?
Video Art combines elements of traditional art with the modern audio and visual components of components of film and multimedia. This type of art creates movement and conveys messages that can't be shown through still art. Because of the time-based aspect and sounds, this kind of art leads to a deeper emotional connection with the viewer.
Nam June Paik stood out to me from the artists we learned about on Tuesday. Known as the "Father of Video Art," he was able to create groundbreaking pieces that have stood the test of time and are still around today. The most interesting to me is "Electronic Superhighway," because of how it displays the interconnectedness of the US.
Martha Rosler also impacted me the most when researching Video Art artists. Her piece "Semiotics of the Kitchen," was so impactful the first time that I watched it. I always enjoy when we come back to it in my classes. Her feminist ideology and messages that she portrays are still resonant today. She raised awareness of societal injustices in the time and played a large role in the feminist movement.
