New Mahindra Pik-Up Double Cab Reviewed
Tumblr media
Early October 2017, Mahindra launched the updated version of its next-generation Pik-Up in Gauteng. Women on Wheels was there to experience what Mahindra promises will make competitors sit up and pay heed.
In South Africa, bakkie fans have various reasons for their product preferences, whether it be for work, play, or simply the pure joy of owning a bakkie (or simply their love of the model). Apart from its affordability in South Africa’s tough current economic climate, bakkie owners most likely value its combination of comfort and capability.
It appears that Mahindra has tapped into this. The new double cab Mahindra hosts a variety of features to satisfy these desires, with a price tag that should appeal to a broader range of consumers. It now comes with a six-speed manual transmission, increased turbodiesel power with 103 kW, a much more attractive interior than its predecessor and a towing capacity of 2 500 kg.
Robust and rugged, a real outdoorsy adventurer
On the outside, it might look somewhat outdated when compared to some of the other new bakkie brands launched this year, but I like that it’s got that hint of old-school originality quirk to it. As much as I love the look of the latest bakkies out there, the new Mahindra Pik-Up gives the impression of a real off-road, outdoorsy adventurer, perfectly suited to South Africa’s diverse and often harsh road terrains.
The upgrade does, however, give the new Pik-Up a slightly more aggressive and modern look, with emphasis on the front-end styling. The most significant changes to the exterior include a new grille, headlights, bonnet and foglamps.  Headlights on either side of the grille are also completely new with a new curved LED daytime running light signature, or “eyebrow” as Mahindra names it, for the top-of-the-range S10 derivative.
Convenience and comfort
I had quite a lot of time inside Mahindra’s new Pik-Up while driving from Lanseria International Airport to Magaliesberg. While we usually pair up or have at least one driving ‘buddy’ on launches, I was assigned to my vehicle without a driving partner. At first, I was somewhat apprehensive about having to navigate myself in a car I’d never driven before, but it didn’t take long for me to feel comfortable and confident. In fact, I rather enjoyed having the cabin to myself as I could take in all that it had to offer, without any distractions. I was also grateful for the S10’s built-in Navigation system that directed me through every town and highway road, very precisely and timely.
Seating positioning in the new Pik-Up is raised and you sit pretty high up, while visibility through the windows is unobstructed. Seating is further made comfortable thanks to improved upholstery and the flagship S10 derivative adds driver convenience with a multi-functional steering wheel, as well as remote central locking and cruise control.
Driving impressions
Mahindra’s new Pik-Up’s six-speed manual gearbox driving rear wheels is what I enjoyed the most during my test drive. Gear-changing is efficient and smooth, while its in-gear acceleration and pulling power are sufficient. It has an updated 2,2-litre four-cylinder mHawk turbodiesel engine with an impressive torque of 320 N.m which is reached at 1 600 r/min.
The entire range of the new Mahindra DC bakkies is fitted with an electronic Locking Differential as standard, so there’s no need to sit and fiddle with buttons or to wait for activation lights during your off-roading excursions. We had a quick go at some off-roading with the new Pik-Up once we reached Magaliesberg and although the terrain going uphill was extremely uneven and rocky, I remained pretty comfortable and solid behind the wheel.
Safety conscious
Mahindra’s done a good job at providing enough safety features as standard on some models, to give someone like myself, a somewhat neurotic and safety-consciously minded driver, peace of mind. These include ABS, EBD, Dual airbags, Crash protection crumple zones and a Collapsible steering column.
They’ve also added three headrests for backseat passengers, three-point seatbelts, as well as two ISOFIX anchor-points at the back of the Double Cab S10 models.
The new Mahindra Pik-Up might not be as refined as bakkies like the Ford Ranger or the Volkswagen Amarok, for example, but it’s certainly a great alternative to the bigger players and for customers looking for a more affordable bakkie capable of heavy loads and off-roading adventures.
Pricing
The Mahindra double cab pricing includes a 4 Year /120 000 km Warranty and roadside assistance, and a 5 Year / 90 000 km Service Plan. Services are at 20,000 km intervals or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

The Original Working Bakkie – The Mahindra Bolero
Tumblr media
There are lots of bakkies on our roads, on our farms, in our businesses. We are talking about working bakkies, not the weekend warrior kind. There are great working bakkies in South Africa, but have you looked at the prices? Imagine getting a ding or a scrape, or even getting it dirty. Jislaaik! At that price. Why are they so expensive? What do they do that is different from what a bakkie should do? If you have to carry a load from here to there, whether you are a farmer or work in construction, run a garden service or look after a sports field, you need a working bakkie. What makes a bakkie a working bakkie?
Let’s deconstruct your working bakkie. Let’s look at what it must have and what it can have, and what you are willing to pay for.
Your basic bakkie has a strong chassis to take the punch. A proper load bed is configured for what you need. A simple diesel that will keep going. A simple cab in which to sit and drive the bakkie. A bakkie for everyone on the site to drive, with nothing to break or go wrong. One that does not cost the earth to buy or very much to keep going. The Mahindra Bolero goes from basic to better, so let’s look at the Mahindra Bolero range.
The Mahindra Bolero Maxi-Truck Plus
The Bolero Maxi-Truck will carry 1150kg, has a turbo-diesel that gives you 46 kW and 195 Nm from as low as 1400rpm and a solid 5-speed manual. This is your basic bakkie that will work and keep working.
The Mahindra Loader and Dropside
These have the stronger NEFTCI Turbo Diesel that gives you 74 kW and 238 Nm with a 5-speed manual and a couple of other nice-to-have features. Both carry up to 1100kg payload, but the dropside’s bed is bigger, lower, and can drop the sides as well.
Single Cab 4×2
This one is very similar to the Loader but with air-con and heater, power steering, colour-coded bumpers, a spare tyre and a front headrest. You will probably get this for yourself as an individual or for your foreman.
Double Cab 4×2
The Double Cab is probably the best-priced twin cab, but very similar to the Single Cab above. Now you can drop your kids at school or take your clients to the site. It has the same features as the Single Cab above, as well as front headrests, a side step and door decals.
Single Cab 4×4 and Double Cab 4×4
Similar to Single and Double Cab 4×2 above, it features a 4×4 powertrain. These are the best-priced full-sized 4x4s you can get.
The Mahindra Bolero price includes a 2-year/50 000km warranty and an optional 3-year/60 000km service plan. Bolero bakkies come in a serviceable white, which also makes them easy to brand for your business.
So here you have the full spectrum of dedicated working bakkies and you simply need to choose the one you need. Mahindra Bolero owners tend to hold onto their bakkies, but if you get a good used one, that will be worth waiting for.

JAC Offers South Africa’s Cheapest Double Cab Bakkies
Tumblr media
Over time, bakkies have evolved into vehicles every bit as kitted and comfortable as passenger cars. The problem is, their price tags have also evolved.
Not that long ago the Mercedes-Benz X-Class became the first bakkie in South Africa to break the seven-digit ceiling.
The discontinued Merc was followed by the 190 kW Volkswagen Amarok V6 TDI and now the Ford Ranger Raptor is just R850 shy of becoming Mzansi’s third million-rand bakkie.
With the new Amarok and Ford Ranger on their way, the million-rand bracket will soon be the benchmark instead of the exception in the big stables’ top portfolios.
But not everyone has that kind of cash lying around or the kind of monthly income to afford instalments of over R20k.
Fortunately for buyers, there is quite a comprehensive list of alternatives in the top listings for the cheapest bakkies in stables outside Mzansi’s traditional top three heavyweights, Toyota, Ford and Isuzu.
For years now, Indian carmaker Mahindra and Chinese manufacturers GWM and JAC have been steadily building their much more affordable bakkie repertoires in the shadows of the big boys. And it is not surprising that these three carmakers dominate the list of South Africa’s most affordable double cab bakkies.
Related: Looking for an affordable new car? Check out JAC used cars.
R344 900 – JAC T6 2.0 double cab Lux
JAC Motors has been building commercial vehicles for almost six decades and have quietly been gaining market share with its attractive T-range bakkies. Not only are they easy on the eye, but so are their prices.
The most affordable bakkie in its local stable is the T6 petrol variant, which is powered by a 2.0-litre mill which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and sends 108kW/190Nm to the rear wheels.
JAC’s fuel consumption claim of 10 L/ 100 km will result in a range of 760 km on its 76-litre fuel tank. This T6 has a payload of 820 kg.
Features include 17-inch alloy wheels, artificial leather seats, aircon, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity making this bakkie a real option for both leisure and work.
Safety is also sorted in the form of ABS, dual front airbags, park distance control and rear-view camera.
After-sales back-up is sorted by a five-year/150 000 km warranty and a five-year/60 000 km service plan.
R374 900 – JAC T6 1.9 TDi double cab Comfort
The most affordable oil burner in the JAC stable is powered by a 1.9-litre turbodiesel mill. It produces 100 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque which is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
This T6 is said to achieve a range of 950km based on the claimed fuel economy of 8.0 L/100 km. Up from its petrol sibling, the oil-burning T6 has a payload of 900 kg.
Being the Comfort trim line and not Lux, it lacks a few creature comforts like artificial leather seats, a rearview camera and cruise control.
It also comes standard with a five-year/150 000 km warranty and a five-year/60 000 km service plan.

Mitsubishi Triton GL Offers Excellent Value
Attractive styling and great drive make this entry-level bakkie an affordable option for leisure use.
Tumblr media
The Mitsubishi Triton GL looks anything but entry-level.
Bakkies might have been initially designed to get cargo from point A to point B, but they have evolved into technologically advanced machines.
These days all the flagship double cabs of the leading bakkie producers boast top-notch safety systems. They are powered by refined powerplants mated to sophisticated automatic gearboxes.
Their cabins feature leather seats, state-of-the-art connectivity systems and creature comforts like heated seats. On the outside, there have nice wheels, LED headlights, load bin liners, style bars and fancy roller shutters.
But not everyone in the market for a double cab bakkie for leisure or dual purpose can afford these top-end offerings. Neither does everyone need or want all the fancy things included in price tags north of R800 000.
The problem is that affordable double cab options with styling that is more leisurely than commercially-orientated in the established bakkie brands’ stables are very limited.
More often than not, these models will be fairly base spec compromised with things like steel wheels, non-coloured coded bumpers and door handle.
This has no doubt contributed to many buyers weighing up better-specified models offered by lesser-established bakkie brands like Mahindra, GWM and JAC.
Mitsubishi’s new direction
Ford took notice of the opportunity by introducing the XL Sport two years ago, a very base-specced model whose styling is pimped up to make it a very presentable leisure or dual-use option.
Mitsubishi has followed suit with the introduction of the Triton 2.4 DI-D 4×2 double cab GL. The GL offers the gateway to the Mitsubishi bakkie brand at R115 000 less than its previous entry-level offering.
The Mitsubishi Triton line-up before the introduction of the GL comprised exclusively of leisure offerings. But the Japanese carmaker’s new approach is to appeal to both business and fleet owners alongside leisure users.
We have our doubts about whether or not the GL should be considered as a hard-core commercial option after being very impressed by it during its recent week-long stay.
Sure, it’s tough and strong enough to get the job done, but it’s just too damn pretty to get abused by wayward flying bricks and cubes of gravel in a building yard!
Sexy styling
Mitsubishi got the GL’s styling absolutely spot-on. There is nothing workhorse about this bakkie that should blend in perfectly between the fancy SUVs out there.
Chrome-coated door handles, side mirrors, tailgate handles and around the side steps complement the chrome accents on Mitsubishi’s familiar Dynamic Shield front design.
The exterior package is completed by simple yet stylish six-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with chunky 245/70 R16 rubber ware.
Inside, the Triton GL is less fancy, but definitely not cheap and nasty. A combination of soft-touch faux leather finishes a variety of decent black plastics and brushed silver inserts gives the cabin a good quality feel along with dark grey fabric seats.
Interior features include a Sony touchscreen infotainment system with a USB socket, auto air-conditioner, day/night rearview mirror and four-spoke urethane grip steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment.
Our biggest gripe with the Mitsubishi Triton GL’s cabin was the lack of steering wheel controls. With the radio also bereft of a good ol’ volume knob, it takes some good hand/eye coordination to adjust the volume by virtue of a tiny button below the infotainment screen.
Safety features come in the form of two front airbags, ABS with EBD and BAS, a brake override system and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
The absence of rear parking sensors and a reverse camera was a bit of a concern. One of the biggest challenges operating a vehicle 5 285 mm long is manoeuvring it in tight spaces and having no help in the form of a parking sensor or rear camera will spook most drivers.
Mitsubishi power
The real star of the show in the GL in our opinion – stealing even the exterior styling’s thunder – is the engine. Like the rest of the Mitsubishi bakkie range, the GL is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine, but a detuned version.
With outputs of 100kW/324Nm it might sound underpowered compared to the 133kW/430Nm version serving on its siblings, but judge this mill on face value at your own peril. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, this diesel mill is a gem.
Acceleration through the lower gears is swift and smooth, unlike the almost truck-like feel of the first and second gears on some manual bakkies. It never felt underpowered in city traffic and impressed with its torque at lower revs in higher gears.
Its fuel consumption also impressed. Mitsubishi claims that the GL will sip 8.0-litres per 100 km and we managed to match that over 520 km. One open road stint returned an excellent number of 7.5 L/100 km.
Featuring double wishbones with coil spring and stabiliser in the front and above-the-axle leaf spring rear suspension, the Triton’s ride is as smooth as you’d come to expect from a top-end bakkie nowadays.
The Triton GL has a payload of one ton and a braked towing mass of 1 400 kg.
Conclusion
The Mitsubishi Triton GL makes a compelling case, offering great value for money. While compromises have been made to keep the cost down, the areas that matter do not disappoint.
While Mitsubishi intended it to be a working bakkie on weekdays suitable and styled for leisure use over weekends, we tend to believe the opposite is true.
It can show off at the malls and schools during the week and carry mountain bikes and surfboards… and maybe some garden refuse … over a weekend.
The Mitsubishi Triton GL comes standard with a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan.

Nissan highlights future plans for India, Africa and the Middle East
Nissan hasn’t launched an exciting new product in India for a while now. Sure, the ‘new’ Kicks gets a powerful engine but it’s still not something the masses would go gaga over. The only other model in their current lineup is the GT-R, and that’s not what you’d call a widely attainable car. Now though, things are about to change. Nissan aims to put a lot more focus towards India, Africa and the Middle East as part of its Global Transformation Plan.

Don’t write off the cost of a car’s crash parts - see which makes are pricey
If you drive a Honda Civic, be wary of getting too close to kerbs - replacing a single wheel rim will cost you more than R35,000.
For 28 years, Durban-based motoring guru Malcolm Kinsey has been sourcing car parts prices for select vehicles - from "cheapies" to premium brands - and every year his survey produces some jaw-dropping surprises.
The latest, newly named AA Kinsey Report - revealing the prices of 32 parts for 30 cars in eight categories - is no exception.
That R35,776 Civic wheel rim is the most expensive in the entire survey, followed by that of the VW Toureg (R31,165); the Kia Sportage (R14,606), the Hyundai Kona (R12,167), the Nissan Navara (R10,876), the Kia Rio (R10,123), the Hyundai i10 (R8,102) and the Ford Ranger (R3,080).
The vehicles' rim price is a good indication of overall parts prices because, with the exception of the Navara and the Toureg, all those vehicles have the most expensive total parts baskets in their categories.
In the executive crossover category, the BMW X5 had the most expensive total parts basket - a total of R384,395 versus the second most expensive, the Toureg’s R334,265.
And in the double-cab category, the Mercedes Benz X Class topped the Navara with the most expensive basket - R147,252 versus the Navara's R128,000.
The survey groups car parts in three categories - service (spark plugs, oil filters, brake pads); repair parts (cam belt, shocks, clutch plate, fan belt) and crash parts (fenders, doors, bonnets, rims, light clusters).
While long warranties along with service and maintenance plans make the price of service and repair parts irrelevant to owners of fairly new cars, the prices of crash parts have a major impact on all car owners.
The cost of those parts impacts both insurance excesses and premiums, as well as the write-off point of your vehicle.
A car with expensive car parts, relative to the value of the car, will be written off after even a minor accident because the cost of repair will very easily total more than 70% of the value of the car.
Kinsey noted the massive escalation in parts prices since his last survey 18 months ago.
"An entry-level Datsun Go, for example, had a total parts basket of R44,372 in 2017 – and this year it's R63,310," he said.
"The Volvo S60 of 2017 had a basket price of R159,862 and it's now R214,362."
The Korean vehicles - Kias and Hyundais - have the most expensive parts baskets in several categories, while Toyota emerged as the manufacturer with the most consistently low parts prices. As always, parts price discrepancies are huge, even within the same category.
CITY CARS & ENTRY LEVEL: Cheapest crash parts basket: Toyota Etios Most expensive: Hyundai i10 Comment: The wheel rim on the little i10 costs R8,102, versus just R563 on the Datsun Go.
FAMILY FAVOURITES (a few popular Uber cars in here) Cheapest crash parts basket:  Toyota Corolla Quest Most expensive: Honda Civic Comment: While that Civic's wheel rim costs R35,776, the Corolla Quest's rim is just R612. And the second-most expensive rim in the category is the Golf GTI's at R15,697. This makes the Used Toyota Corolla for Sale particularly attractive.
Additionally, used Toyota Corolla cars are reliable and a go-to car for Uber drivers. This is due partly to the affordability of maintaining it and of course its great drivability, as well it’s great pricing at Group 1 Cars.
SUPER MINIS Cheapest crash parts basket: Renault Sandero Most expensive: Kia Rio Comment: The driver's door of the Nissan Micra costs R15,671, and the same part on the Sandero is less than half that at R6,348.
COMPACT CROSSOVER Cheapest crash parts basket: (by far) Mahindra KUV Most expensive: (by far) Hyundai Kona Comment: The left-hand headlight assembly on the Kona costs a whopping R12,100, versus just R3,567 on the Mazda CX3.
DOUBLE CABS Cheapest crash parts basket: Toyota Hilux Most expensive: Mercedes X Class Comment: The Merc bakkie's bonnet costs R9,277 versus a third of that price for the bonnet of the Isuzu D Max - R3,118.
SINGLE CABS Cheapest crash parts basket: Nissan NP200
Most expensive: Ford Ranger Comment: The rear left fender on the Ranger costs R13,346, while the same part on the Hilux is "just" R3,400.
CROSSOVER Cheapest crash parts basket: Toyota Fortuner Most expensive: Kia Sportage Comment: The driver's door for the Sportage cost R18,205; versus the Fortuner's driver's door at R4,317 - less than a quarter of the price.
EXECUTIVE CROSSOVERS Cheapest crash parts basket: Alfa Stevio - it also had the cheapest parts basket overall. How's that for shattering the perception about Alfa's parts! Most expensive: BMW X5 Comment: The Audi Q5's grille costs a whopping R20,182 versus that of the X5 - R1,529. Even the Porsche Cayenne's grille is a tenth of the price of the Q5's at R2,405. • Kinsey sourced the prices in his latest survey by approaching the franchised dealerships mainly in the greater Durban area, during March 2019. The prices featured in the survey are what a customer, walking into a dealership, would pay on that day and do not always coincide with what the manufacturer or importer would supply. New Mahindra Pik-Up Special Editions Were Made To Be Legends
Mahindra took its Karoo Dawn, Karoo Dusk and Karoo Storm double cabs on an epic three-week adventure which cemented the brand's durability in the minds of buyers.
Tumblr media
The Mahindra Karoo convoy departed to unforgiving terrain in South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho.
“In June, we revealed our new corporate identity and our brand promise – to Unleash the Explorer in You. While every Mahindra bakkie or SUV delivers on that promise, the three Karoo flagship models do so with aplomb,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
“We realise that Mahindra is in a unique position to help South Africans unleash their inner explorer with our range of accessible and affordable products and with made-for-purpose adventure vehicles like the Karoo Dusk, Dawn and Storm.”
The Mahindra Adventure
Departing from the Mahindra head office in Centurion, Gauteng, the expedition of three Pik Ups started heading west to the border of South Africa and Namibia.
Along the way, they visited some of the most demanding off-road trails and routes in the Free State and Northern Cape as well as the Mahindra dealers en route.
The convoy also made its way to KwaZulu-Natal to conquer some of the most challenging 4×4 courses and routes that they can find. From here, they made their way back to Mahindra’s South African headquarters.
“Each leg of our tour was carefully chosen for its beauty, its challenging routes and its proximity to some of our best-performing dealers. We will visit the dealers along the route to show them the new Karoo Dawn, Dusk and Storm and to whet their customers’ appetite,” says Rajesh.
The team was led on an adventure at every step of the journey with clues they receive daily from Mahindra and their task is to navigate to their destination. Customers following the adventure, could live the journey and become part of the experience.

Flagship features made accessible
The Mahindra Dawn, Dusk and Storm together form the flagship model range for Mahindra’s Authentic Bakkie range. All three models are fitted with a dedicated heavy-duty, off-road suspension that is unique to these models.
All three models are equipped with Mahindra’s tried and trusted 2.2 mHawk turbodiesel engine that delivers 103kW and 320Nm.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels, in 2WD, or to all wheels in 4WD low- and high-range via the Mahindra six-speed automatic transmission.
While each version is unique in its design, all three versions share luxuries such as climate control, electric windows, cruise control and leather seats.
Also standard across all three models are a special hardy Karoo carpet set, a nudge bar, a load bin-mounted Karoo sports bar and a rubberised load bin. A custom-designed set of hardened off-road rims are fitted to all three models, including to their spare wheels.
Mahindra has also fitted a custom-designed, off-road approach and departure bumper set to all three flagship models. These bumpers are anchored to the chassis and have LED front fog lamps, heavy-duty steel recovery points, non-slip steps and even a ready-to-fit space for a winch.
Lastly, all three flagship models also have a new 9-inch touch-screen infotainment system with HD display, in-built maps and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Karoo Dusk, Karoo Storm and Karoo Dawn models are all sold with a 4-year/120 000km mechanical warranty and a 5-year/90 000km service plan.

New Mahindra Pik-Up Karoo Special Edition Bakkies Are More Than Good-Looking
Mahindra has three special edition Pik Up models in its Karoo range. They're pretty good-looking, so we've collated some images of the new models.
Tumblr media
Mahindra says the new models signify the authenticity of a genuine brand designed around the core needs of customers who need reliable and capable bakkies that enable them to explore even the most challenging terrain.
Named the Pik Up Karoo Dusk, Karoo Dawn and Karoo Storm, the new models will offer many of the same features that made the first edition Karoo Dusk a sell-out success.
The abilities of the Pik Up have now been enhanced to allow customers to pursue the most challenging terrain and unleash the explorer in them in the most rewarding way.
Rajesh Gupta, Mahindra South Africa CEO, says the Karoo nameplate signifies their commitment to South Africa and the way South Africans have adopted the Pik Up lifestyle range as their desire to 'Unleash The Explorer in You' and enjoy the adventure and family fun.
"This is equally true of our new Karoo Dawn, Dusk and Storm models, and we are very excited to showcase our range of Authentic Bakkies to our fans and customers."
With its special milestone reached, the growth in production underscores the popularity of the Pik Up range, which has been one of the fastest-growing bakkie brands in the last five years, thanks in no small part to its combination of reliability and capability.
So what's new?
Firstly, the upgraded Karoo specification is now standard. All three special edition models are built on the upgraded Pik Up Karoo platform and feature new decals. The same goes for the branded Karoo interior carpets, a nudge bar and load bin-mounted sports bar with Karoo detailing.
The cloth seats have been upgraded to leather upholstery, and the infotainment system has been bumped up from a 7" to a large HD 9" system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and in-built maps.
Rugged and refined
Mahindra says all three special Karoo models will be fitted with heavy-duty off-road suspension, off-road tyres, and hardened 4x4 rims, including an additional off-road rim for the spare wheel.
All models also have front and rear steel bumpers for better off-road clearance and are securely anchored to the chassis. They also offer recovery and hitching points for off-road use. The rear step has been trimmed with non-slip diamond plating for easy access to the load bin, and the front bumper is fitted with special LED driving lights.
Load bins are also rubberised, and the rear overfenders give the bakkie a purposeful stance and differentiate each special edition model from its siblings.
Automatic available
All Karoo and Karoo Special Edition models are fitted with Mahindra's mHawk 2.2 turbodiesel engine, which delivers 103kW at 3 750rpm and a solid 320Nm in a broad power band between 1 500r/min and 2 800r/min.
In the Special Edition models, buyers are treated to the new six-speed Aisin automatic transmission, making it the perfect stand-out bakkie for every type of user. This transmission was extensively tested in South Africa before its global launch on the Pik Up Karoo S11 in 2020.
All Karoo Dusk, Karoo Storm and Karoo Dawn models are sold with a four-year or 120 000km mechanical warranty and a five-year or 90 000 km service plan.
