Turn full your soul's vision to Jesus, and look and look at Him, and a strange dimness will come over all that is apart from Him, and the Divine "attrait" by which God's saints are made, even in this 20th century, will lay hold of you. For "He is worthy" to have all there is to be had in the heart that He has died to win.

Deep Waters by Lilias Trotter
Art as faith. Faith as art. “‘I am come into deep waters’ took on a new meaning this morning.  It started with perplexing matters concerning the future.  Then it dawned that shallow waters were a place where you can neither sink nor swim, but in deep waters it is one or the other:  ‘waters to swim in’ – not to float in.  Swimming is the intense, most strenuous form of motion – all of you is…

“Conscious weekness as a preparation for service is one thing; brokenness is another. We may know that we are but earthen pitchers, like Gideon’s, with nothing of our own but the light within, and yet we may not have passed through the shattering that sheds the light forth. This does not mean something vague or imaginary, but intensely practical.” — Lilias Trotter

I guess I could get this blog started by listing off some of my favorites in case anyone ever wants to tag me in stuff? I'll go with what I'm currently playing (or looking forward to playing, in one case) and add as time goes on.
As an ace I should note that a character being on this list doesn't equal sexual attraction. Also some are just my bois. The ones I simp for will be bolded.

Give Us More Lilies
As a promising young artist, Lilias Trotter was offered the opportunity to go viral in Victorian England. Her exceptional talent caught the eye of a leading art critic who offered to catalyze her career. But Trotter rejected the proffered fame and instead moved to impoverished Algeria. There, the delicate English Lily served in a literal and spiritual desert for almost 40 years. I was first…

“You are right to be glad in His April days while He gives them. Every stage of the heavenly growth in us is lovely to Him. He is the God of the daisies and the lambs and the merry child hearts.”—Lilias Trotter (Parables of the Cross)

-Muchas cosas hermosas-

A song for you
We sometimes find that singing the lyrics of a song helps us remember the blessings that the Lord has for us. There are tens of thousands of hymns and songs of worship, in almost every language in the world. We would like to encourage you to search out the old hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus’, because its words will encourage you to cling to God’s Word; trusting in what He has to say about you rather than in the lies that will keep you feeling defeated.
Written by Helen Lemmel in 1922, inspired by the life of missionary Lilias Trotter (1853-1928).
O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.
His word shall not fail you he promised
Believe him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.
In John 8:31-32, 36, Jesus says, “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus gives us these comforting words, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Deeper and deeper must be the dying, for wider and fuller is the lifetide that it is to liberate - no longer limited by the narrow range of our own being, but with endless powers of multiplying in other souls. Death must reach the very springs of our nature to set it free: it is not this thing or that thing that must go now: it is blindly, helplessly, recklessly, our very selves. A dying must come upon all that would hinder God's working through us - all interests, all impulses, all energies that are "born of the flesh" - all that is merely human and apart from His Spirit. Only thus can the Life of Jesus, in its intensity of love for sinners, have its way in our souls.
