La Candelaria, Bogota, Colombia: La Candelaria is Bogota’s vibrant heart, with landmarks like the colonial-era cathedral and neoclassical Capitol flanking Bolivar Plaza. Narrow streets lined with shops selling emeralds and handicrafts lead to cultural hotspots like the Gold Museum, with pre-Columbian artifacts, and Museo Botero, showing international art in a colonial mansion. Casual eateries serve dishes like ajiaco. Wikipedia.

Monserrate Mountain and Bolivar Square - Bogota
Monserrate Mountain and Bolivar Square – Bogota
Monserrate Monastery on Monserrate Mountain and Bolivar Square was all I had in the diary for the day. I had seen it every day I visited the city centre and La Candelaria. No matter where you are in Bogota it is difficult to miss. Me seeing it…more like its ever presence is impossible to ignore. Like an impenetrable barrier of green rising up at the edge of the concrete jungle stopping its…

This was the gospel of February 2nd. A pretty story that reminds us of Jesus being the light of the world, but also sad when Simeon, an old man just and devout, meets Joseph and Mary after thanking the Lord for letting him see their savior (Jesus, which was a baby at that moment), he let Mary know that she would have to suffer by having her heart being hurt by swords.
This was a way to show how much it would hurt her to endure the crucifixion of her son and her loss as well.
It's admirable all Mary went through since she had to obey God and let Jesus die for our sins. I mean, she's His mother... It must have been painful to see a crowd sentencing him to death and all.
Anyways, it's an interesting part of the gospel.
I made this with watercolors. Thanks for reading. May God bless your day ^^.
