... playing bears for a few days gave me a bit of empathy for what bear players are dealing with. It takes work to make them work right, especially against somebody who understands the matchup, and you have to be careful to not just get poked down with jab pressure and quick mid checks. And if somebody knows how to deal with your b+1 power crush, that makes it hard.
db+2 is a good low to start off pressure with them, and you've got pretty good Get Off Me tools in f+1,1,1 (the launching G-clef -- essentially if you can make a jab CH, you get a full combo) and the b+1 power crush. Hunting Bear Stance is pretty good, and while it's seeable for somebody who's practiced it, most people up through red ranks seem to just eat the HBS b+1+2 Bear Breakdance.
What's weird about bears is, it seems like you'd feel like you've got yuge range, but their attacks honestly feel stubbier than you'd expect. Also their movement is not very good; your sidestep is not great, and you don't seem to get a quick backdash to make up for it (Jack and Eddy have bad sidesteps but great backdashes, for comparison). ... so like... bears are pretty weird. Probably with experience I'd learn which moves to use at which ranges to make them feel like they've got better reach, but...
What I can say: their combos are really satisfying. And hitting somebody with the df+2,1 Bear Twin Pistons is sick. Also people generally don't *really* know the matchup, so you can get away with stupid bear shenanigans. I felt a lot better about playing bears after customizing them. Cute glasses for Kuma (he needs a cute tie like Yogi Bear tho; maybe for T8) and glasses and the red panda fur for Panda.
Kunimitsu on the other hand... immediately feels powerful. I played some KuniMom in TTT2, and Kuni II is I think uncontroversially a much stronger character. You can always be mixing, you can stuff people's approach with a kunai from downtown, you've got a pretty good throw game, katon stance has uses, the SET command dash lets you approach pretty much whenever you want, her df+2 is a ridiculously long-range uppercut. I had played her a little bit when she came out, so I didn't have to learn too much to just play her for a day or two to rank her up twice. Kuni is a really good character in the current T7 patch, both at a middling level (red to purple) but also at high level.
I don't love her as much as I liked her mom in TTT2 -- she takes off her mask, what kind of ninja discipline is this! -- ... but she's definitely a character that's in Tekken 7, so here we are.
