Dreamwatch: SLEEPING GIANTS Press Conference (Match 5)
Tumblr media
Kousei Kanai: Good afternoon everyone, my name is Kousei Kanai. Thank you for tuning in. As Maddie mentioned earlier, I will not be joining Dreamwatch Pro Wrestling's Blood Crown division. My desires are placed elsewhere in the company, and I apologize if this is disappointing to any of you. However, I am still the defending champion, and I plan to be successful in my defense at the event. There is no other way to state this, I do not think that my opponent, Mr. Onodera, is a good fit as a champion. I was a spectator of the tournament, and what I viewed was a cheating man. I saw a man resorting to underhanded tactics for the attention of a crowd. I'm sorry to say Mr. Onodera but as the holder of this title I simply care too much at this point to let you ruin it's reputation before we have even had a chance to build it. I plan to win tonight, after which I will reveal the name of my unit with Yuhi Sengoku and Johnny McLaren. It will be a night of triumphs for us, so please watch. Thank you.
Yoshi Onodera: Heh... That's cute. Listen Kanai, you gotta learn to understand where your place is. When you see me, the new hotness in town, and I beat the crap out of everyone in that tournament, and Dreamwatch is starting to really build this division, you know they're building it around me. You don't even care about the damn belt! That thing was quite literally made for me. You need to stay in your place and take the damn paycheck, my man. Morals don't mean anything once you step in the ring with me. Do what's best for you. Or don't, and I beat the hell out of you. I'm taking the belt either way. Everyone, you're looking at the future of the Blood Crown division. Good for you, huh? Congratulations. Get used to seeing this face, and after SLEEPING GIANTS, get used to seeing me with a prize around my waist and money in my pockets.

Dreamwatch 12.22.21 (Match 2)
Johnny McLaren/Kousei Kanai/Yuhi Sengoku vs Masato/Hayato/Steel Johnson
Tumblr media
This match was SO tense from beginning to end. You could argue that these two groups are two of the top three units in Dreamwatch currently. They've been consistently firing on all cylinders, taking victories left and right, and there's of course the fact that between these six men, half of them are currently holding championship gold. Initially I didn't think much of this tag match, but within the first minute of this match my eyes were glued to the action. In the early goings, FutariOniki dominated this thing. Honestly it feels like Masato and Hayato just keep getting better and better as a team, they're pulling out new moves, their coordination is second to none, and they are not above utterly obliterating opponents shortly after the opening bell. The three men opposing them would not let this offense go unanswered, though. McLaren, Kanai, and Sengoku have all proven themselves to be dynamic performers who can turn the tide at any point. They've also proven time and time again that they can thrive in these chaotic situations. This resulted in some incredible back and forths in this physical tug of war. There would be moments where the match would be a bit more stable, two people in the ring trying to gain an advantage, before it would blossom into full on 3 vs 3 mayhen in the ring before calming back down again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The match ended with Sengoku and Hayato in the ring together. They'd been wrestling a grueling match, but were not looking to back down. Hayato managed to get the upper hand here, hitting Senoku with a HUGE backdrop followed by his mentor Steel Johnson's signature Neck Hold Double Wristlock. This is when the match bloomed into chaos again, with Sengoku's partners coming in to break up the pin and a brawl erupting in the ring. Sengoku sprung to life in this moment though, surprising Hayato with a Destino out of nowhere before going up top and landing a huge frog splash! At this moment, though, the match had reached it's time limit, the result of this one being a draw. Regardless, this was an incredible six-man tag match!
--
Sengoku: OOOOH! I was this close did you see that?! That's what I'm talking about! Those guys pride themselves on being a great team, but if I had three more seconds we would've officially been the best unit in this place. You can't compete with the BOYS BABY.
Kousei Kanai: Sengoku you're so loud. You're very loud but also very correct. I've said it before, but at the moment I consider myself the top champion in Dreamwatch at the moment, which makes me better than most others here. I say most, because I consider Johnny and Sengoku to be as good as I am. Don't forget that if not for interference, Sengoku would have beaten EIJI for his belt and there would be two champions. If the world champion had not been stolen, I believe that Johnny would be the most suitable champion for that belt.
Johnny McLaren: M-Me? Not yourself?
Kousei Kanai: I already have a belt. I'm not above sharing the glory with you, Johnny.
Johnny McLaren: That's sweet of you to say. You have a lot of faith in me! Honestly, I do too. I have faith in us. The fans do as well, don't they? I'm grateful for that. We didn't get the win tonight, though. We only went to a draw. I'll say we're in first place, but those guys are very, very close second. We're neck and neck. We can't be satisfied until we lap the field!
Kousei Kanai: These references are a bit too on the nose, Johnny. I'm afraid you're going to spoil the surprise.
Yuhi Sengoku: It can't be helped. They don't have the drive that we do.
Kousei Kanai: What is happening why are you doing this? You're going to ruin our reveal. One of you end the promo.
Johnny McLaren: We've gotta go! Just remember that whenever you want to find us, we'll always be ahead of the pack!
--
Hayato: Gah... A draw. I'm not going to lie those guys are really good. Kousei Kanai I heard him previously talk about how he's the top champion in Dreamwatch. He's wrong. Nobody has what Masato and I have. There's no duo like FutariOniki. Much respect to them, but we're the best. I'll give them second place though, but no one comes before Masato.
Masato: Someone is going to take that the wrong way...
Hayato: Shush! We're doing a promo! What I'm trying to say is that we're evolving as performers. I want to make sure that worldwide everyone knows that we're the pinnacle of tag team wrestling. We're the pinnacle of all wrestling. Who says the top belt has to be a singles belt, you know? As far as I'm concerned, we're the guys to beat here, and no team has been able to actually figure out how to keep us down. You've seen Ryukawa, Kanai, McLaren, Himuro fall. Oniki has not.
Masato: That's true, I never thought about that. I'm relieved. I want to make sure it stays that way with our next title match coming up. We're fighting... Hell Keeper for some reason. I thought we left those bastards behind us. This is what we get for not visiting them, Hayato.
Hayato: You can't blame me for not wanting to visit them! Besides, we got them a title match against them so it's fine.
Masato: Anyway, we're rambling again, Steel looks annoyed.
Steel Johnson: Its all the time with you two. But hey, stay focused. Your last defense was a draw, this match was a draw. That's now how you prove you're the best team. I want to see a dominant victory from you next time!
Masato and Hayato: Yes sir!

Dreamwatch 11.20.21 (Match 4)
Yuhi Sengoku, Kousei Kanai, & Johnny McLaren vs Esperanza (Kurosaki/Akimoto/Kiryu)
Tumblr media
Kiryu's back in the ring! Feels like its been a while. Way too long in fact, but he's here to stake his claim to a title match once again. Takaya Kiryu's win over Alex Garcia is one of the most impressive wins I think I've ever seen, but in pro wrestling momentum is everything and if you're not constantly building it then you're gonna lose it. Kiryu can't sit on that one victory forever. On the other hand, the opposing team tonight has been doing their best to stay in the conversation, constantly popping up on shows and picking up wins and putting on impressive performances even when they don't. Have they surpassed Kiryu in imporance in Dreamwatch? I'll let you decide, but the match is underway!
I'm gonna say immediately that I think we're all sleeping on Yuhi Sengoku. Every time there's a tag match with him in it, he's able to have some of the most fiery hot tags I've ever seen and fight multiple opponents off at once. This match was no exception, as there was a point in the match where he was taking out Esperanza members left and right and it looked amazing. Sengoku definitely sent a message here, and was able to even top it all off by using a twisting moonsault! That's one of Takaya Kiryu's signature moves! Definitely a cocky display by Sengoku, adding insult to injury. Another interesting participant in this match was Kousei Kanai! Kanai's performance was somewhat shocking here. Kanai is someone who carries himself with an air of regality. Someone who tries his best to be prim, proper, demure, we all know his deal at this point. Occasionally, though, Kanai will show a... Surprising dark side, and a little bit of that side came out when Kanai hit KIryu with a green mist! I can't imagine what Kiryu was feeling during this match, having someone use your move in front of you and also having someone spit mist in your face. I imagine his head was absolutely spinning here. The other members of the match also did well, Johnny and Kurosaki especially. Johnny didn't do anything super special, but that's because every Johnny performance feels special to begin with. As per usual, Johnny was in tip top shape tonight. Kurosaki was able to show that he also works very well in a team environment, able to tag in, do big damage, and tag out. This counters Kurosaki's biggest weakness that we've seen - his energy. If he decided to focus more on it, I can see Kurosaki becoming a big time player in the tag division in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite the impressive showings of multiple participants in this long match, in the end Johnny brings it home with a roll up! A simple and sneaky ending, but at the end of the day the goal of any wrestler in a match is to win!
--
Johnny McLaren: YEAH! That's another one for us! It really, really feels like we're on a roll now. We've been keeping at it, working hard. No one has been grinding like us, and I love when we get to show it in these trios matches.
Kousei Kanai: You're absolutely right, Johnny. Let us all not forget that I am still the Dreamblood champion. Champion is a title I carry with pride, and I do my diligence to make sure that the title I hold gets the respect it deserves. With the Dreamscape Stellar World Championship not in our company right now, I am the impromptu top champion. I don't take this lightly, like Takaya Kiryu would. As Johnny said, we continuously work to be the best we can be. We cannot rest on one match, one victory. Regardless of how remarkable Kiryu's match against Garcia was, his lack of grinding has allowed many of his contemporaries to surpass him, us included.
Yuhi Sengoku: We showed him something tonight. We rocked their asses, that's for sure. Sick job on that poison mist, Kanai. You never taught me how to do it though and I'm a little mad about it.
Kousei Kanai: I assure you that was a sneeze.
Yuhi Sengoku: Uh-huh
Johnny McLaren: Didn't even cover your face when you sneezed. Not very gentlemanly.
Kousei Kanai: I'll apologize at my earliest convenience.
--
Takaya Kiryu angrily looks into the distance, tapping his finger on a table backstage.
Takaya Kiryu: What the hell... They... The people in Dreamwatch are trying to steal my thunder a little bit. They can't do what I can do. No, no they can't, but they're getting close. They recognize that they're not on my level though. One of them, I don't know their name, they cheated with that mist. They wear orange trying to get my attention. Who gives a shit about that though. One of them stole my damn move! Pathetic! Are people idolizing me that much now?! I don't need any fanboys clinging to my shadows. Show some self-respect, and get your own shtick, before I beat my moves out of you! Even after all that, they couldn't keep me down. They had to surprise pin Kurosaki so they can say they got a win over us. Its nothing.
Hiro Kurosaki: They're nothing. They get lucky or they fail, that's it. Too many people like that in Dreamwatch. They're just like Katagiri and his people. I'm not impressed. They know they could never actually beat any of us in the ring. Next time I see any of these frauds, I'm putting them through the damn ring.

Dreamwatch 10.24.21 (Match 6)
Kousei Kanai, Johnny McLaren, & Yuhi Sengoku vs JPWA (Eikichi Kurusu, Yamato Ryukawa, & Mask Legend)
Tumblr media
Our main event of the evening is a showcase of some proven and some promising talent in trios action! The faction that has yet to be named on the left have been making waves everywhere they go. Yuhi Sengoku recently put on a star-making performance in his Dreamfall Championship challenge against EIJI, Johnny McLaren has been a permanent fixture in the upper cards of Dreamwatch and seems poised to only go higher from where he is now, and Kousei Kanai managed to shock the world by becoming the Dreamblood champion at Dreamwatch REMember. This team has had ups and downs but the momentum keeps building for them! JPWA has two solid fixtures of Dreamwatch's Jr division in Mask Legend and Eikichi Kurusu, arguably the two most high profile Jr Heavyweight talent in the company outside of the champion EIJI. Yamato Ryukawa has been one of the most consistently good performers in Dreamwatch and has been able to make all of his singles matches feel like big deals. Ryukawa is young, but he is already showing signs of someone who is a master of his craft, even if the latter part of 2021 has given him some shortcomings and roadblocks. We're looking at top tier talent across this board, and this match is going to show us who is at the top of their game right now!
This was an incredibly competitive match. My favorite thing about trios matches is seeing the interesting teamwork that can come from it and how that teamwork plays out. Teamwork wise I would say the stars of the show were Kanai and McLaren. They were incredibly in sync for the whole match. More often than not you saw them together in the ring hitting tandem offense on their opponents that gave them a noticeable edge whenever they whipped a move out. On the other hand, the JPWA were incredibly good at their isolation tactics. Their ability to isolate Yuhi Sengoku in their corner and keep him there as they piled the damage on was really cool to see, no doubt the result of Mask Legend's tutelage. This punishment made Sengoku's performance in the later portions of the match especially awesome, as he managed to go toe to toe with Mask Legend and in my opinion he managed to soundly outwrestle him. Mask Legend couldn't compete with the damage that Sengoku can dish out in such a short period of time, and even after he tagged out and Ryukawa came in, Sengoku had Ryukawa on the ropes as well and almost got a three count on him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This match came down to the wire, ending with literally a minute left before the time limit, but in the end it was Kanai that was able to deliver the finishing blow on a weakened mask Legend. With McLaren standing right next to him, he was guarded as he got the hard-fought three count victory for his team. Unknown Team Name is victorious!
--
Yuhi Sengoku: Lets address the crowd tonight, baby! People all over the globe!! Its us, the still-sort-of-new hotness around here! The rockstars of your dreams! Tonight was a big one, it ain't easy beating that team. It ain't easy beating a guy that can backflip off the top rope and stomp a hole through you like Eikichi Kurusu. It ain't easy, beating a living superhero that's been kicking ass since a lot of you in crowd were in diapers like Mask Legend. It ain't easy, beating a superstar stud like Yamato Ryukawa and I'm sorry ladies I know you love him but we got it done tonight because that's what we do, sweetheart! Oh yes, it feels so damn good to be-! To be... Us! We don't have a name yet still!
Johnny McLaren: Ah... Yeah sorry we don't I feel like that ruined your speech there, my bad but he's right, that wasn't easy and I'm a little winded! I'm not built for this! All I know is knee stuff! Either way, I feel like we got an important win tonight. In all honesty I usually prefer to ride everything out solo. I was unsure of this team when we first got together, and really I feel like we got together just for the sake of not getting outnumbered, but with this main event victory over the... Over the Everything That Sengoku Eloquently Said, I've grown to recognize these two as my boys. We're brothers now! We just need a name, but I came up with a few I promise this wasn't just a joke of us purposefully not coming up with a name its just that perfection takes time okay I love you guys Kanai take the mic please.
Kousei Kanai: Oh, goodness. I forgot to mention Johnny that I took a liking to one of your suggestions, and if you don't mind I'd like for us to choose that one as the name for our grouping. First, though, I would like to take care of some business first. I have a challenger for this Dreamblood Championship coming up, and I'd like to successfully defend against that opponent and reveal the name afterward. This name is very fitting and very special, and I'd like to make sure we crown ourselves with our new name in a moment of triumph, and I very much do intend to triumph against Mr. Onodera. Mr. Onodera, Dreamwatch is certainly on an upswing right now, but our titles are in a bit of a state of turmoil at the moment. There have not been much in terms of lengthy reigns, and many struggle to defend the belt even once. The champion makes the title, Mr. Onodera, and after seeing your performance in the first Blood Crown tournament, I can simply see that you are not the man for the job. I am by no means the face of the division despite me being its champion, but I won't let you make a mockery of this belt like you did with the tournament. Keep the brass knuckles at home, and please do some fighting for once.
Sengoku and McLaren are making comedically over-exaggerated shocked faces behind Kanai.
Kanai: Anyway, that is all. Look forward to our rebirth, our unveiling. You haven't even begun to see our full potential.
Kanai gives a bow like he finished a stage performance, Ryukawa does an action pose on one knee beneath him, and Sengoku puts his arm around Kanai and leans his weight on him, causing Kanai to stumble slightly before regaining his balance to hold the pose for pictures.
--
Eikichi Kurusu: That Sengoku... I'm interested in fighting him. I feel like I haven't been able to make any big moves in the Jr division lately, and I don't want guys like him getting out ahead of me. He's welcome competition, I just need to bring the competition right back to him!
Mask Legend: Sheesh they got me. My body should be aching, but right now I feel like I only exist through words. Strange, maybe I'm healing. Anyway, Sengoku is really good, but that's unremarkable in all honesty. If youv'e been paying attention, we have loads of good Jr Heavyweight competitors right now. I think a lot about the division these days, since I know EIJI's plan is still in effect, and I want us to fight against it. I want to show that the division is worth something, that its an important part of this promotion. I want a special event for just Jr Heavyweights. Maybe a tournament or something, I don't know. Something that shows our... Huh
Ryukawa is already staring at the man that made Mask Legend stop in his tracks. He comes face to face with MMA fighter Ewan Jacobs.
Ewan Jacobs: Don't mind me pops, just getting a look at the man that was running his mouth about me. Something about shutting me up, teaching me a lession, some other shitty wrestling cliche? You should keep a real fighter's name out of your mouth. When I hear someone that isn't my wife or kid saying my name, it all sounds like fightin' words.
Yamato Ryukawa: I'm glad your ears work, then. I didn't think you watched wrestling promos, but since you watched that press conference, you know how I feel and you know what I want. Dreamwatch can afford you. I can beat you.
Ewan Jacobs: *Laughs* That's real cute! You know I wasn't gonna come here, you didn't seem remarkable and SWA didn't want me around this company, but looking you face to face trying to be tough even after you just got your ass handed to ya? I kinda wanna beat your face in right now!
Mask Legend, Eikichi Kurusu, and other staff cautiously separate the two men.
Ewan Jacobs: Easy, I'm not gonna do that now. No money in that. And I know a fight with you is worth a lot. You're the golden boy around here apparently. So, lets make it a date, huh? Let's fight for it! I love gettin paid to embarrass guys like you. See you at your funeral, Ryukawa!
Jacobs walks off.
Yamato Ryukawa: Good. He's up for the fight. I haven't stopped thinking about what he said about our sport on our show. Dreamwatch in some ways is in some rocky waters right now, and I'm gonna help get us at the top of the wrestling world as the pinnacle of pro wrestling. I start with him, and I don't want to sound overconfident, but I'm not going to lose to that guy. Its not possible for me. After we get past him, Dreamwatch will begin to thrive even more. Thanks for the love, and sweet dreams.

Dreamwatch: REMember (Match 2)
Dreamblood Championship Match: Beast (c) vs Kousei Kanai (Click here to watch!)
Tumblr media
Our first title match of the evening and this was going to be an exciting one! For this match the lottery chose someone very familiar with Dreamwatch fans: Kousei Kanai! Kousei Kanai was slated to be in the Blood Crown tournament that would give the winner the shot at this belt, but now he gets to skip to the front of the line and try to prove himself against the champion! How will Beast (with a nice fresh coat of face paint) do in this first defense holding the most unique belt in Dreamwatch?!
This match may have been a surprise to some. It definitely was a surprise for me! For a significant portion of the match, Kousei Kanai managed to corner Beast and keep him there with efficient, relentles offense. Between his devastating kicks and the implementation of a standing sleeper hold, Beast had a difficult time getting off the ground. Beast, however, is true to his namesake and was eventually able to brawl his way out of the corner and get himself into the match with some of his now infamously brutal throws! trying to make his way back into the match would prove to be difficult, though, as Kanai showed why he has been on everyone's radar, keeping the pressure on Beast even as he himself took punishment. Its clear that Kanai was training for the tournament, as he was able to bust out moves that we had never seen before. Near the end beast managed to get a grounded choke on that could have taken Kanai out, but his body was too battered to keep the hold on. After breaking free of the hold, Kanai got on his feet, got behind beast, and completely rocked him with a kick from behind that Beast didn't see coming. Beast tried to get back to his feet, but was too staggered from the blow and was unable to make the ten count. Just like that, we have a new champion! Kousei Kanai has the Dreamblood title!

-POST MATCH COMMENTS-
Kousei Kanai: Wow... I was actually victorious tonight. If I'm being honest I'm at a loss for words a little bit. I was skeptical about participating in matches with this unique ruleset but I knew I had to put on my best showing. I trained and focused on my kicks, I wanted McLaren and I to look good in that tournament that was announced before the hiatus and now... Now I have this belt. I won't lie and say its something I personally have dreamed of, but I'll hold it and represent this division regardless. Boys, we've got our first belt!
Yuhi Sengoku: Easy money, baby! We were out relaxing and drinking during the hiatus and we come back and we're still the best in the business! You can't stop... Whatever name we're gonna call ourselves! We haven't come up with one yet but you already know these faces!
Johnny McLaren: Oh also we need to wear a different color, this orange isn't gonna work anymore. I'll wrestle naked if I have to.
Kousei Kanai: We'll deal with- excuse me? Anyway, we'll deal with our presentation soon. Beast, you were defeated on your first defense. You're already exceptionally powerful, but you should continue to improve yourself and come back, I'll gladly accept your challenge. You're a unique and painful foe, so we're not that different, you and I. in fact, since I'm the champion I'm assuming I won't be needed for the Blood Crown tournament anymore. Beast, if you so desire, I welcome you to take my spot to prove yourself. For now, its time for me to represent. *Kanai bows with the belt before giving it to McLaren to put it on him* How do I look, gentlemen? Strong? Elegant?
Johnny McLaren: Like a champion!
Yuhi Sengoku: Like an asskicker, boy!
*the three pose together*
Kousei Kanai: Well, you heard them. Your "Champion Asskicker Boy" must depart. Bye-Bye!
--
Beast: ...I don't really want to speak to media right now but I will. My career has been a rocky one, to say the very least. I had trouble doing much of note before I started participating in these shoot style matches. I managed to shock the world on the indies and win the old version of what we call the Dreamblood Championship now... And after I won it I did nothing with it. No one challenged for it, and it felt like the belt lost relevancy simply because I was the one holding it. Even after I got into Dreamwatch, not much went well for me until the new version of the belt was made. Maybe I was expected to lose back then against Nick Coleman, but I, again, shocked the world, before losing all of my momentum again. Not much of a beast right now, am I?
Scott Douglas: Ay man easy, easy. You'll be good. If you can shock the world twice you can do it again. If you can beat one man you can beat em all. That's MUSCLEPOWERJUSTICE, remember?
Beast: Yeah. Yeah, my bad. Anyway, Kanai is very good, I think everyone knows that especially now. I wanna fight him again. Gonna need to build myself up again. Start from scratch.
Scott Douglas: Time to lick your wounds for a bit. Let's work and get our strength back, cmon.
*The two depart*

Dreamwatch: NIGHTFLARE (Match 2)
Four way match: Sergio Perez vs Daigo Asahina vs Williams Cruise vs Kousei Kanai (Click here to watch!)
Tumblr media
An exciting four way match between four promising talent that did not have individual matches on this card. Regardless, these men have been consistently on the cards and have shown potential to become big time players very soon!
This match was completely chaotic but very, very entertaining. Sergio Perez has slowly been building a profile for himself by having consistently good performances on Dreamwatch shows that he continued here! Daigo Asahina feels like a big deal immediately when you see him, very similarly to how Kousei Kanai felt when he debuted. This match indicated some kind of familiarity between the two, with the two of them staring intently at each other even after the match had ended. The only one that seemed out of place here to an extent was Williams Cruise. This hectic environment wasn't too great for him, with his stamina and abilities seemingly lacking compared to the other participants. In fact, Williams Cruise was the one to get pinned in this match, with Sergio Perez picking up the win!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sergio Perez makes his way to the back, a visible scowl shining through despite his masked face. He came to Dreamwatch to be a big deal, to be a shadowy, reviled, unstoppable force taking money from the people who pay to watch him destroy their heroes. He and his idiot friend are getting closer to the top, but the people are changing. They are looking at him with interest, intrigue, satisfaction. It burns. He calls out an enthusiastic reporter and threatens him for smiling. The reporter stops smiling but Sergio Responds that he can tell the reporter liked that threat. The reaction from the reporters, the fans, the people writing opinion pieces on Tumblr about his matches, they all sicken him Regardless, he has two matches he's interested in watching tonight and is tired of talking to the people. He ends his promo with "Whatever. Fuck off. Yadda Yadda" before exiting.
Daigo Asahina gets to the back, smiling and sincerely apologizing to the press for getting distracted in the match there. Its been a while since he's been in the ring with this particular rival. He knows that this person likes when Daigo says his name, and he figures that Kousei Kanai is gonna talk about him anyway, so he may as well respond to Kanai preemptively. Daigo mentions that he and Kanai have been rivals since they trained together, and as soon as they got in the ring together, its as if nothing had changed. He can't particularly say that he likes Kanai these days, but he knows how strong Kanai is and can't help but get excited. Asahina tells Kanai he's ready. He's always ready.
Kousei Kanai comes to the back doing his best to be calm but his lips are tightly pursed. He takes a deep breath before speaking. He comments that it seems like Daigo and his friends are back to nipping at Kanai's heels. Well, he supposes its nice to see them too. Kanai had a feeling in his gut when he got signed that Daigo wouldn't be far behind. Regardless, Daigo is behind Kanai, but Kanai is okay will letting an old friend ride his coattails, though the rest of his friends aren't welcome. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He takes a slight bow and thanks the crowd for keeping their eyes on him, as he's clingy and wants attention. He ends his promo with a "lets not miss each other too much" before he departs.
Williams Cruise arrives to the back breathing heavily. He bangs his fist on a table, saying that he shouldn't have lost. It seems that he is going to say something else, but he instead gets up and walks away with a frustrated grunt.

Dreamwatch Round Robin Tournament FINAL (Match 1)
Kousei Kanai & Yuhi Sengoku vs Vicio (Miguel Luis/Sergio Perez) (Click here to watch!)
Tumblr media
An exciting tag team match to kick off this important show. Back in JTW, Kanai and Sengoku were both students there and tagged on and off, so it was destined to see them return as a team eventually, especially after such a long time. This is also a perfect opportunity for Sengoku to possibly get some revenge on Miguel Luis, who stole a win from him with a low blow in Sengoku's debut. This is an opportunity for this specific Vicio duo to come out and actually have a match, since the last time they tagged Luis was knocked out by Alex Garcia in record time.
This match was a solid and competitive affair showing off some strengths from both teams. One thing that was clear immediately was how well Kanai and Sengoku naturally worked together. They pulled out some great tandem offense, good combos, and protected each other. Kanai also played a little dirty to get revenge for his partner! Luis and Perez as a duo weren't as on point as their opponents but they did show some promise individually, with Luis taking the fight to both members extremely effectively on his own, and Perez of course sticking to his casual trickery to control the match when he was in the ring.
The match ultimately came to an end due to a miscommunication from Vicio. While Perez was hitting Sengoku with a low blow, Kanai managed to land a pumphandle driver on Luis. Perez seemed to think Luis would kick out, not noticing the devastating move, but Luis' shoulders stayed down for three, giving Kanai and Sengoku the win.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kousei Kanai & Yuhi Sengoku make their way to the back. Kanai looks satisfied, Senoku disappointed. Kanai is happy that he gets to work with his old buddy and says with Sengoku with him they can do great things in Dreamwatch together. Sengoku is not as enthused, commenting that he thought he wouldn't have to team with any of the annoying people from JTW anymore. Sengoku also comments that hopefully this will be a one-time thing before Kanai comments that Sengoku needs a friend since he still hasn't bought a cup and he's taken too many low blows at this point which, by the way, Kanai hit Luis low to get revenge for his dear friend. Sengoku doesn't buy that Kanai did it for him since Sengoku knows that Kanai is always a cheating bastard but he does need allies and even though he can't stand Kanai, he is familiar enough with Kanai to potentially get far in Dreamwatch with him. Sengoku begrudgingly agrees and they pose for a picture together. Kanai tries to look as gentlemanly as he can with mist on his face, Sengoku looks miserable. A match made in heaven!
Sergio Perez and Miguel Luis are arguing about the match backstage. Sergio is uspet at Luis for not kicking out, and Luis calls Perez an idiot for not breaking up a pin. Sergio comments that Luis is literally the dumbest luchador on earth, hence the nickname "Persona Estupida" which Luis ignores. Luis says the reporters all saw the match and they know that he was the best one out there and he easily outshone Perez. Perez says that Luis talks a lot and dead weight shouldn't talk so much. Luis is about to reply but Perez tells Luis to come on and leave with him before Perez pulls Luis' mask off. They've got work to do.

“Man of 1000 Faces” Yuhi Sengoku | Factionless
Yuhi Sengoku brings his talents to Dreamwatch! Sengoku is never at a loss for words and is extremely charismatic, with some pristine skill to match! Is the Man of 1000 Faces going to become the new face of Dreamwatch?!
Tumblr media
“The Gentleman” Kousei Kanai | Factionless
Kousei Kanai was a proven champion on the independent scene, winning the SWA Heavyweight Champion and tying the record for most defenses in a single reign. Kanai is very measures when he speaks but brings an unexpected style to his matches. His mixture of good striking, surprising agility, impactful offense, and even some underhanded trickery allows him to control a match unlike any other. What mark will he leave on Dreamwatch? Time will tell!
Tumblr media
“Wind God” Jiro Kazama | Seigi-Gun
Starting out the faction known as Seigi-Gun we have Jiro Kazama! A strong, hard-nosed straight forward tank of a man, he is looking to have some memorably violent matchups in the tag division!
Tumblr media
“Thunder God” Raita Matsuoka | Seigi-Gun
The other half of the hard hitting tag team with Jiro Kazama, Raita Matsuoka is every bit as dangerous and ferocious as his partner is. Together they can potentially put on some of the most physical and most entertaining matches in Dreamwatch, potentially winning titles along the way!
Tumblr media
“Thunderbolt” Soji Uzaki | Seigi-Gun
First off, wow what a mohawk. Secondly don’t let the eye-catching hairdo distract you from the fact that Uzaki is as talented as they get. Anyone who loses focus against him will have to deal with breakneck speed and precision knee strikes. A perfect storm in the ring! Uzaki is looking to capture lightning in a bottle and he’s more than capable of doing so in Dreamwatch!
Tumblr media
“The Loner” Daigo Asahina | Seigi-Gun
Here we have the leader of Seigi-Gun! Despite being “The Loner” Daigo Asahina is very caring when it comes to his allies and does his best to make sure they all rise and grow together, even if his support tends to be from a distance. Understated, calm, and dangerous, his skill is nothing short of awe-inspiring. A definite big player to look out for in Dreamwatch!
Tumblr media
“King of Kings” Ryuji Katagiri | Seigi-Gun
Here we have arguably the biggest signee yet. The SWA Heavyweight champion, the King of Kings, Ryuji Katagiri! Katagiri brings an aura unlike any other, his physique alone displaying his power, and his tense stoicism indicating a man who is dead set on his goals and know he has the ability to do it. His striking and submission game are both extremely deadly tools in his arsenal, these skills allowing him to win a tournament with the best talent around to get a  title shot, knocking the champion out in a tag match before the title match, and then taking the title with ease. He is a proven champion, but is always looking to prove himself more. That’s the difference between a champion and the King of Kings. Business has picked up in Dreawatch!

Dreamwatch 4/29/21 (Match 4)
Yuhi Sengoku, Kousei Kanai, & Johnny McLaren vs Overkill (Mitsuru Takahashi/EIJI/Katsu Himuro) (Click here to watch!)
Tumblr media
Following his loss in the Round Robin Tournament Final, Johnny McLaren came face to face with Katsu Himuro, upset that McLaren didn't win despite him knocking Himuro out in their tournament block match. McLaren seems to be back in Himuro's sights now, meaning all of Overkill is involved. McLaren seems to have made some friends just in time, and now the two groups are vying for prominence and supremacy in Dreamwatch.
This was a very competitive match. Overkill have developed a reputation for being the best unit when it comes to tag matches in Dreamwatch. Together they have an extremely oppressive style of offense that is very difficult for any group of people to get around. This trio of Kanai, McLaren, and Sengoku were very much up for the challenge, fighting back against the normally dominant trio in Overkill and having a very competitive and even match pretty much up until the end. In the end, EIJI saved Himuro by landing a hard kick to Kanai's legs, causing him to lose the hold he had on Himuro and fall to the ground. Himuro quickly took advantage of the situation, landing a moonsault onto Kanai, with Takahashi fending off McLaren and Sengoku as Kanai got the three count. Not the dominant affair that Overkill are used to, but they still showed that their teamwork is second to none in Dreamwatch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overkill make their way to the back, and EIJI comments that he is a little disappointed. Overkill is known to be more dominant than that in their matches, and it feels odd to have to simply outwrestle in a competitive match instead of battering people. He doesn't want Overkill to lose their edge. Either way, their opponents weren't a match for them. Kanai and McLaren looks pretty impressive in the tournament and it seems like they've definitely lost their edge at this point. Adding Sengoku isn't going to help, and Sengoku definitely isn't worthy of challenging for EIJI's belt since they lost tonight. Himuro is unsurprised at the result. The entire landscape of Dreamwatch is filled with units that band together out of desperation trying to make themselves relevant or people trying to break away from units to lose dead weight. Overkill are the ideal as individuals and as a team. They are the best pro wrestlers and they will continue to prove it effortlessly. Himuro still feels like he has his doubters following the tournament, and getting the pin on Kanai was the first step. The next is beating McLaren. One on one. He demands this match, and knows that it'll happen because Overkill get what they want in Dreamwatch. Overkill is Dreamwatch.
Kanai immediately apologizes when they get to the back. Kanai admits that he's not exactly used to sharing the spotlight with others yet and it cost him the match. Sengoku says that Kanai needs to not make him look bad, especially against Overkill. Next time Sengoku says Kanai will have to watch and learn, causing Kanai to laugh. McLaren says that despite what happened when he fought Himuro one on one, Overkill is so much stronger together. They rely on each other for almost all of their successes, and they've got it down to a science. Whether he likes them or not, McLaren has to admire that skill. Overkill has deeply embedded themselves into the story of Dreamwatch, and if they want to be at the top of the wrestling world, there simply is no getting around them, so they've gotta be prepared to fight and win. Kanai promises that next time they will overcome, and things are simply just beginning with them and Overkill.

Dreamwatch Round Robin Tournament Night Three (Match 8)
Round Robin Tournament Match: Hayato vs Kousei Kanai (Click here to watch!)
Tumblr media
This was it for B block! The final match to determine the winner of B block was here. Due to McLaren’s shocking KO victory in the previous match, Hayato was officially out of the running, as a win here would give him a tie with McLaren, who has the tiebreaker between them, so McLaren would move on. Kanai, however, was still very much in the running. Going into this match with three points, a win or a draw here would net him the block victory or send him onto the finals. Hayato made a promise to Masato on the previous show that he would beat the unbeatable, but was his heart still in it considering that he was out of the tournament? It was time to see what both men were made of tonight.
This match highlighted some of the defining qualities that got both men this far to begin with. Kanai was precise, controlling, agile, a little bit mischievous. Hayato was tough, technical, rugged, defiant, persistent. What stood out the most in this match really was Kanai slightly adapting his strategy. Usually known to employ an impressive array of strikes in his matches, this match he chose to be somewhat light on the striking, maybe because he didn’t want to go up against the granite-like fists of Hayato. Instead, he replaced this part of his offense with a bit of noteworthy cheating! There were multiple low blows at one point of this match, and a signalling of what looked to be an attempt at using some mist that was stopped by Hayato before the plan could come to fruition. This isn’t to say that Kanai only cheated or even mostly cheated, he hit a lot of his big impactful offense and some beautiful top rope maneuvers. Hayato was himself but turned up to eleven in terms of his defiance. He was not willing to stay down even in situations where pretty much anyone else would have. He just kept going, responding to the flashy offense of Kanai with increasingly powerful lariats, dropkicks, headbutts, gutbusters, double wrist locks, doing his best to keep himself in the match or to catch up to Kanai in the match. Eventually though, it happened. Kanai couldn’t keep himself ahead of Hayato long enough, and after scratching and clawing for every bit of offense he got, Hayato managed to win the match with a fire thunder powerbomb in a little over fifteen minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hayato returns to the back with a crooked smile, trying to be happy despite his disappointment. “Dammit” he begins, lightly knocking his fist on the table. He’s glad he managed to keep his promise of beating the seemingly unbeatable, but he’s disappointed that his mistake in the last show cost him his spot in the final. He made a promise to Masato that he’d get there and he broke that promise, which hurts even more than missing an opportunity at a title. He knows Masato would never be disappointed but he still cares. He says he does feel conflicted though, as he’s very proud of his performance in the tournament overall. He’s proud of himself and his partner, and he comments that they truly feel like mainstays in Dreamwatch despite being perpetual underdogs. He hopes that Masato and old man Johnson enjoyed his performances and is able to see what they’ve been able to build with just their little three man army that now has so many recruits in the crowd. Their journey is really just starting and he’s ready to push himself even harder. Masato’s match is up next, and he’s even more nervous for Masato’s match than he was for his own. He knows Masato can do it, and no matter the odds he’ll always bet on his partner to pull through!
Kousei Kanai arrives at the back holding his head. He closes his eyes for a moment, perhaps letting the loss settle in, before speaking to the press. He was having a meteoric rise in Dreamwatch, but he supposes that meteors have to land somewhere eventually. He ended with a perfectly even score. One win, one loss, one draw. Not a horrible way to make a start in a promotion, even if he hungered for a little more. He did tell us that Hayato can bring out a demon in his matches , and Hayato managed to pull out the win tonight because of it. He admits that he used some… Underhanded tactics that some would deem to be beneath him, but he should’ve known it would have never worked on someone like Hayato. It really only seemed to fire Hayato up in the end. He isn’t quite sure what Hayato gets up to in his spare time. He laughs, and sighs. He was this close to taking it all so soon after his debut, but now he has to recollect himself. Ah well, it’ll be his in time. He will be champion, it’ll just take a bit more time than he’d hoped. He thanks us all for our patience regardless, and walks off.
