Dreamwatch 10.24.21 (Match 6)
Kousei Kanai, Johnny McLaren, & Yuhi Sengoku vs JPWA (Eikichi Kurusu, Yamato Ryukawa, & Mask Legend)
Tumblr media
Our main event of the evening is a showcase of some proven and some promising talent in trios action! The faction that has yet to be named on the left have been making waves everywhere they go. Yuhi Sengoku recently put on a star-making performance in his Dreamfall Championship challenge against EIJI, Johnny McLaren has been a permanent fixture in the upper cards of Dreamwatch and seems poised to only go higher from where he is now, and Kousei Kanai managed to shock the world by becoming the Dreamblood champion at Dreamwatch REMember. This team has had ups and downs but the momentum keeps building for them! JPWA has two solid fixtures of Dreamwatch's Jr division in Mask Legend and Eikichi Kurusu, arguably the two most high profile Jr Heavyweight talent in the company outside of the champion EIJI. Yamato Ryukawa has been one of the most consistently good performers in Dreamwatch and has been able to make all of his singles matches feel like big deals. Ryukawa is young, but he is already showing signs of someone who is a master of his craft, even if the latter part of 2021 has given him some shortcomings and roadblocks. We're looking at top tier talent across this board, and this match is going to show us who is at the top of their game right now!
This was an incredibly competitive match. My favorite thing about trios matches is seeing the interesting teamwork that can come from it and how that teamwork plays out. Teamwork wise I would say the stars of the show were Kanai and McLaren. They were incredibly in sync for the whole match. More often than not you saw them together in the ring hitting tandem offense on their opponents that gave them a noticeable edge whenever they whipped a move out. On the other hand, the JPWA were incredibly good at their isolation tactics. Their ability to isolate Yuhi Sengoku in their corner and keep him there as they piled the damage on was really cool to see, no doubt the result of Mask Legend's tutelage. This punishment made Sengoku's performance in the later portions of the match especially awesome, as he managed to go toe to toe with Mask Legend and in my opinion he managed to soundly outwrestle him. Mask Legend couldn't compete with the damage that Sengoku can dish out in such a short period of time, and even after he tagged out and Ryukawa came in, Sengoku had Ryukawa on the ropes as well and almost got a three count on him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This match came down to the wire, ending with literally a minute left before the time limit, but in the end it was Kanai that was able to deliver the finishing blow on a weakened mask Legend. With McLaren standing right next to him, he was guarded as he got the hard-fought three count victory for his team. Unknown Team Name is victorious!
--
Yuhi Sengoku: Lets address the crowd tonight, baby! People all over the globe!! Its us, the still-sort-of-new hotness around here! The rockstars of your dreams! Tonight was a big one, it ain't easy beating that team. It ain't easy beating a guy that can backflip off the top rope and stomp a hole through you like Eikichi Kurusu. It ain't easy, beating a living superhero that's been kicking ass since a lot of you in crowd were in diapers like Mask Legend. It ain't easy, beating a superstar stud like Yamato Ryukawa and I'm sorry ladies I know you love him but we got it done tonight because that's what we do, sweetheart! Oh yes, it feels so damn good to be-! To be... Us! We don't have a name yet still!
Johnny McLaren: Ah... Yeah sorry we don't I feel like that ruined your speech there, my bad but he's right, that wasn't easy and I'm a little winded! I'm not built for this! All I know is knee stuff! Either way, I feel like we got an important win tonight. In all honesty I usually prefer to ride everything out solo. I was unsure of this team when we first got together, and really I feel like we got together just for the sake of not getting outnumbered, but with this main event victory over the... Over the Everything That Sengoku Eloquently Said, I've grown to recognize these two as my boys. We're brothers now! We just need a name, but I came up with a few I promise this wasn't just a joke of us purposefully not coming up with a name its just that perfection takes time okay I love you guys Kanai take the mic please.
Kousei Kanai: Oh, goodness. I forgot to mention Johnny that I took a liking to one of your suggestions, and if you don't mind I'd like for us to choose that one as the name for our grouping. First, though, I would like to take care of some business first. I have a challenger for this Dreamblood Championship coming up, and I'd like to successfully defend against that opponent and reveal the name afterward. This name is very fitting and very special, and I'd like to make sure we crown ourselves with our new name in a moment of triumph, and I very much do intend to triumph against Mr. Onodera. Mr. Onodera, Dreamwatch is certainly on an upswing right now, but our titles are in a bit of a state of turmoil at the moment. There have not been much in terms of lengthy reigns, and many struggle to defend the belt even once. The champion makes the title, Mr. Onodera, and after seeing your performance in the first Blood Crown tournament, I can simply see that you are not the man for the job. I am by no means the face of the division despite me being its champion, but I won't let you make a mockery of this belt like you did with the tournament. Keep the brass knuckles at home, and please do some fighting for once.
Sengoku and McLaren are making comedically over-exaggerated shocked faces behind Kanai.
Kanai: Anyway, that is all. Look forward to our rebirth, our unveiling. You haven't even begun to see our full potential.
Kanai gives a bow like he finished a stage performance, Ryukawa does an action pose on one knee beneath him, and Sengoku puts his arm around Kanai and leans his weight on him, causing Kanai to stumble slightly before regaining his balance to hold the pose for pictures.
--
Eikichi Kurusu: That Sengoku... I'm interested in fighting him. I feel like I haven't been able to make any big moves in the Jr division lately, and I don't want guys like him getting out ahead of me. He's welcome competition, I just need to bring the competition right back to him!
Mask Legend: Sheesh they got me. My body should be aching, but right now I feel like I only exist through words. Strange, maybe I'm healing. Anyway, Sengoku is really good, but that's unremarkable in all honesty. If youv'e been paying attention, we have loads of good Jr Heavyweight competitors right now. I think a lot about the division these days, since I know EIJI's plan is still in effect, and I want us to fight against it. I want to show that the division is worth something, that its an important part of this promotion. I want a special event for just Jr Heavyweights. Maybe a tournament or something, I don't know. Something that shows our... Huh
Ryukawa is already staring at the man that made Mask Legend stop in his tracks. He comes face to face with MMA fighter Ewan Jacobs.
Ewan Jacobs: Don't mind me pops, just getting a look at the man that was running his mouth about me. Something about shutting me up, teaching me a lession, some other shitty wrestling cliche? You should keep a real fighter's name out of your mouth. When I hear someone that isn't my wife or kid saying my name, it all sounds like fightin' words.
Yamato Ryukawa: I'm glad your ears work, then. I didn't think you watched wrestling promos, but since you watched that press conference, you know how I feel and you know what I want. Dreamwatch can afford you. I can beat you.
Ewan Jacobs: *Laughs* That's real cute! You know I wasn't gonna come here, you didn't seem remarkable and SWA didn't want me around this company, but looking you face to face trying to be tough even after you just got your ass handed to ya? I kinda wanna beat your face in right now!
Mask Legend, Eikichi Kurusu, and other staff cautiously separate the two men.
Ewan Jacobs: Easy, I'm not gonna do that now. No money in that. And I know a fight with you is worth a lot. You're the golden boy around here apparently. So, lets make it a date, huh? Let's fight for it! I love gettin paid to embarrass guys like you. See you at your funeral, Ryukawa!
Jacobs walks off.
Yamato Ryukawa: Good. He's up for the fight. I haven't stopped thinking about what he said about our sport on our show. Dreamwatch in some ways is in some rocky waters right now, and I'm gonna help get us at the top of the wrestling world as the pinnacle of pro wrestling. I start with him, and I don't want to sound overconfident, but I'm not going to lose to that guy. Its not possible for me. After we get past him, Dreamwatch will begin to thrive even more. Thanks for the love, and sweet dreams.

Dreamwatch 10.24.21 (Match 5)
Raita Matsuoka, Jiro Kazama, & Ryuji Katagiri vs Mitsuru Takahashi, Katsu Himuro, & EIJI
Tumblr media
What a match up this was bound to be. Katagiri has been hot and cold to say the least but when he's on he's on and we know how capable he is when it comes to dealing out punishment with his hard strikes. his partners in Thunderwind are unproven in a Dreamwatch ring, they've fought in numerous other areas and are simply two big beefy dudes that hit hard which is a tried and true tag team formula. On the other hand we have Overkill, literally the most terrifying trio of wrestlers I've ever seen in a ring. Everyone remembers Overkill in the early days of Dreamwatch knocking opponents out cold, making every single opponent bleed, dominating matches. Overkill is a forced to be reckoned with as a trio but their opponents look more than ready to face them head on!
This match was an eye-opening one for me. To me, it seems clear that Katagiri and Thunderwind were more in sync as a trio, dealing a lot of damage together and tagging in and out efficiently. Thunderwind was especially good in this match, nailing a plethora of tag team moves, and even decimating Katsu Himuro on the outside with a couple of them. This was certainly not an Overkill dominating performace, but Overkill put in the work as well. The old EIJI has been missing since he won the Dreamfall championship, but there were glimpses of him coming back here. Without the worry of having to defend the championship, EIJI was able to simply inflict pain and not let his mind be occupied by anything other than sadism. Himuro took a lot of punishment in this match but was able to get back up adn dish out a lot of it as well. Overkill weren't doing much in terms of teamwork in this match, but a team like them is always going to be a threatening presence in the ring no matter what.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This time around, though, Overkill were outmatched. Specifically, Mitsuru Takahashi was outmatched. Takahashi's cheating and biting aren't as effective against multiple opponents, so he wasn't much use in this match, and the opponents took advantage of this very well. At the end of the match, I'd say that Overkill were outdamaged, outskilled, and beaten by a superior team of athletes tonight. Overkill is different. Overkill is not what it used to be.
--
Ryuji Katagiri: We beat them. With Asahina and Uzaki's wins earlier, that's a clean sweep of victories for us tonight. I feel like I was able to refocus tonight and get back into things.
Jiro Kazama: Its easier with your brothers with you. Its about time we got booked on another one of these.
Raita Matsuoka: And we showed up in a big way. Overkill... I hear they have a reputation, but I didn't see much of anything to write home about tonight. We made a statement tonight. I've heard the talk and I'm sick of it, so if any of you want to come down and fight any of us, I don't give a damn who you are, we'll take your challenge and crush you.
Jiro Kazama: THUNDERWIND! Remember the name!
Ryuji Katagiri: I don't have more to say. This isn't the time for talking, for me. I can only say anything meaningful in that ring.
--
EIJI: What's happening to Overkill.
Katsu Himuro: Hm?
EIJI: You feel it Himuro. We're not what we were. We haven't seen a bloodbath in a while. Our weaknesses...
EIJI glances at Takahashi
EIJI: Our weaknesses are starting to show.
Takahashi: What are you-
Katsu Himuro: We've changed for the better, EIJI. No more mindlessly beating up people for us. You've gone from being given nameless victims to being given championships. You are the best champion in Dreamwatch, EIJI. Katagiri was given a title shot on his first night, and look what he did with that opportunity. He gave the belt away to a nobody. It doesn't feel like it, but you're bigger than the Jr division, even while you hold that belt. You're the face of Dreamwatch.
EIJI: ...So this is how it feels. I'm disappointed. I'm remaking this place in my own image.
Katsu Himuro: One thing still hasn't changed. Overkill. Is. Dreamwatch. We'll make them remember that.

Dreamwatch 10.24.21(Match 3)
Oniki & Steel Johnson vs Carlos Moreno, Alex Alvarez, & Fernando Diyas
Tumblr media
Hey, Old man Steel is back! This match on paper already seemed like a cool match-up to me. You've got the technical brawling style of Oniki & Steel Johnson against the fast paced, agile luchador style of Moreno, Alvarez, and Diyas. Styles make fights, you know! I recall the match that Oniki had against Moreno and Alvarez months ago that was excellent, so I'm looking forward to seeing those four men square off again especially.
My goodness this match was so hectic. Like, even for a match with six competitors this was an incredibly hectic match. Oniki seem to only be getting better with their ability to perform devastating tag team maneuvers, and they're even hitting harder. Hayato even pulled out the impressive turning senton atomico that he tends to use against high-flying opponents! I will say that the luchadors in this match were absolutely incredible! Fernando Diyas stood out especially, able to lead his team and pull off synergistic strategies as well as wowing with multiple moonsaults from the top rope! This team is starting to show signs of a group of top notch competitors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
despite stealing the show in this match, the skill and expertise of Oniki and Steel Johnson were a bit too much to overcome. After a very fun match, Steel Johnson managed to snag the win for his team with a straight armbar.
Hayato leans on Masato, hugging him from behind with his chin on Masato's head. Steel sits in a chair next to them.
Hayato: That's another win for us! Welcome back old man, I missed you!
Steel Johnson: Its been a while! Looks like we're still a pretty threatening trio. Those guys really ain't bad. Hayato, Masato, your competition is getting better. Be careful, get serious. Don't let anyone distract you from being dominating champions.
Masato: You're right.
Steel Johnson: Anyone, you two.
Hayato removes his arms from Masato and stands next to him instead.
Hayato: Uh right, yeah. Good point. A-Anyway, I'm not going to lie I'm... Kind of bummed that we lost that. I feel like if they won, or if we instead beat Diyas to win the match, they would've challenged for the belts.
Masato: That would've been a fun match up. Its cool seeing how good Moreno and Alvarez are at their age. Makes me want to learn a cool moonsault, too.
Hayato: No! 'Cause then you'll miss a bunch while you're learning and I'll have to catch you!
Masato: You've never complained about catching me before, you know.
Hayato has a shocked expression on his face
Masato: *snickers* ...Anyway?
Hayato: ANYWAY! Now we have no challengers. I've thought about making an open challenge. Maybe that will get a team to step up.
Suspicious looking reporter: Would this open challenge extend to people outside of Dreamwatch?
Masato: ...Wait a second.
Hayato: Sure! Masato and I are the best tag team on Earth, and I am down to prove that by beating any team!
Masato: Hayato, that's-
Suspicious looking reporter: You promise- I mean... Are you sure?
Hayato: Of course I'm sure! Why do you ask? Do you want to challenge me, reporter? What do you think, Masato?
Masato and Steel both have their heads in their hands
The reporter removes his fake moustache and tears off his pants to reveal Tomoki Kimishima!
Kimishima: AHA! THANKS FOR THE TITLE SHOT, YOU LITTLE SHIT!
Hayato: ...You didn't need to have shorts on under your pants you could've just kept the pants. Also I regret everything.
Kimishima: You can't go back on your promise now! I'm taking those belts and your shine from you!
Kimishima exits.
Hayato: YOU DICK
Masato: He left his pants...
--
Fernando Diyas: Dammit we almost won that one... But I'm not discouraged at all. I hear the crowd out there and they get excited for us. They got one win but we're going to get the people behind us. They know our skill, they see what we're capable of. We do prettier wrestling, and the next time we face off against them, we'll get that win, and Moreno and Alvarez will challenge them for the belts and take them. A late birthday gift for Moreno, and a gift for the people!
Moreno pats Diyas on the back
Moreno: I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm not discouraged, even as I get older. We'll only get better with time, all of us. And when the time comes, we'll make it to the top of Dreamwatch!
Diyas: I don't have to tell you this, but keep your eyes on us! We're bringing the excitement!

Dreamwatch 10.24.21 (Match 2)
Soji Uzaki vs Tetsu Akimoto
Tumblr media
Our second match of the evening involves another Esperanza in Akimoto facing off against another... Does Daigo's faction have a name? This is the second faction in Dreamwatch now without a name! Someone should talk to them about it! Anyway, another member of the group that Daigo belongs to in Soji Uzaki. These two face off in junior heavyweight action and have the chance to build some momentum for themselves. In Soji's last singles match, he was knocked out by Yamato Ryukawa. For Akimoto, his last singles match was against Javier Martinez in a winning effort.
This match was very fun! Lots of speed, energy, explosiveness, cool moves. Falcon Ishigami is probably the only referee in Dreamwatch that could reasonably keep up with such a quick pace considering how fast he moves. I thought both men looked really good throughout. Uzaki's got an excellent dropkick in his moveset as well as a solid technical base which goes a long way against any opponent. Akimoto is one of the most devastating performers in Dreamwatch and I feel like most people facing him in singles matches should expect to get piledriven on their heads multiple times at this point. The way this match ended was especially interesting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akimoto hit a Canadian Destroyer and could have gone for a pin, but he instead picked Uzaki up and went for an Irish Whip. Both men were running a little too quickly and they both bumped heads on the Irish Whip, causing both of them to fall. In the scramble as both men got up, Uzaki managed to knock Akimoto back down and hit a dive for the three count! The match was very close! Victory barely slipped through Akimoto's fingers there but Uzaki's ability to capitalize and win was very impressive.
--
Soji Uzaki: WOOOOOO! We're on the board! That guy tombstoned me on my head too many times! He was jealous of my mohawk but its still perfectly in place because I only buy the finest gel! If you want hair tips you should've asked, kid! I like his style though, he's wild and annoying as hell like me. Even though it was our first match, I feel like I knew him pretty well, and that's why I won. BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME, AKIMOTO!
Tetsu Akimoto: Noooooo... I'm an idiot, I'm so dumb... You all saw that... I almost won that, but I wanted to really emphatically beat that guy. Hiro doesn't like them very much, and Hiro's my guy so I don't particularly like them either. I'm sorry, big guy. I failed you! How could I have been so foolish...
Akimoto dramatically falls over
Akimoto: Anyway, they aren't actually all that tough I don't think. I will find a way to defeat that disastrous hairdo and then he'll be sad and his hair will be slightly colder. Perhaps this will be my lasting legacy.

Dreamwatch 10.24.21 (Match 1)
Hiro Kurosaki vs Daigo Asahina
Tumblr media
Our first match of the night is one that was teased at the end of Dreamwatch: REMember! Hiro Kurosaki has a bone to pick with the new hotness in Dreamwatch. Asahina, Katagiri, and their group came in and were immediately treated like big deals, and in Kurosaki's eyes they haven't put in the work, and considering Katagiri lost the Dreamscape Stellar World Championship in his first defense, maybe they are seen as frauds that aren't as good as all of the hype made them seem. Asahina gladly took on the challenge, and even maybe goaded Kurosaki on into getting angry before this encounter by showing up backstage after Kurosaki's first round loss in the Blood Crown tournament. The animosity was high, and it was time for a clash!
Honestly, This was probably the most humbling experience of Kurosaki's life. I think Kurosaki went in there expecting a fraud, someone he could expose and embarrass. Kurosaki got utterly schooled in this match by Daigo Asahina. Daigo is much stronger than he seems, and his moveset of chops and suplexes looked effective and dangerous out there. Combine this with his impressive technical pinning ability, and you can tell that Daigo is someone that knows how to win a match against anyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kurosaki wasn't able to use his power in the match much against the almost statuesque Daigo, but Kurosaki managed to land a huge Death Valley Driver late into the match that showed that Daigo is nowhere near perfect and can be beaten like anyone else. Kurosaki saw an opportunity and picked Daigo up for another Death Valley Driver but Daigo thought on his feet and managed to reverse the second attempt into a quick roll up for the victory.
--
Daigo chuckles under his breath and smiles softy.
Daigo Asahina: I got him. I feel like he maybe underestimated me, there. Maybe he just saw me as a pretty face, which, thank you very much. But maybe he saw me as someone who wasn't that good, yknow. I knew he didn't think I'd be able to suplex him, so I suplexed him. He probably got confused and panicked there. I don't like to take anyone lightly and I could tell he was strong, so I made sure to just hit him more times than he could hit me, and I still feel like I didn't actually do a lot of damage to him. That Death Valley Bomb hurt a lot though and I thought "Oh! I need to finish this guy!" So I rolled him up. I really couldn't lose that. My friends and I have some enemies here, and I wanted every wrestler watching to know that I'll face any of them head on. Kurosaki, now you know what I'm about. Let's fight again when you've learned not to take people so lightly.
Hiro Kurosaki: ...DAMMIT! Asahina, you think you're some kind of big deal, you think you can just intimidate me by having some shady person watching me before the match? You try to get into people's heads to beat them?! Don't you dare look down on me after that match, you played mindgames and you barely won with your little roll-up. This isn't over, I knew there was something fake about you! This is war now... You bastard, get ready to be crushed by
