Tiger 3 Crashes in Kerala: Audience Fails to Connect, Regional Films Thrive
The much-anticipated Bollywood film Tiger 3 has failed to make a mark in the box office, particularly in the state of Kerala. Despite its star-studded cast and high expectations, the film has struggled to connect with the audience. One of the main reasons for Tiger 3’s underwhelming performance in Kerala is its failure to resonate with local sensibilities. The film’s plot, which revolves around…

you don't understand the makers of the kerala story speared propaganda against islam and kerala and you are navie lured to hindu fanaticism
first of all, if you're denying the existence of ISIS conversions in Kerala and the larger India then, the Observer Research Foundation published, in a 2019 report, that between 60-70 individuals in Kerala joined ISIS between 2014-18. Also, the NIA has entered various times into Kerala due to suspects of ISIS interactions. ISIS has existed in India for a while now and denying it would require your eyes to be closed.
You're saying that this movie is against Islam and Kerala but from where I stand, it's a movie against ISIS. That's something I will support to the end, both as someone who's lived through the repercussions of 9/11/2001 and the fact that they are literally a salafi jihadist terrorist organization. Anyone minus a few select people who went and watched TKS today are making conclusions about the entire movie from a short teaser/trailer clip, which, many times, isn't even an accurate portrayal of a movie. People who watched the full movie in the Kerala Supreme Court themselves had refused to restrict the release of the movie on the same premise of being against ISIS, not Islam.
Obviously, the biggest argument being made right now, and one I'm 100% expecting you to bring up if you choose to come back into my asks, is the figure of 32K conversions in Kerala. I don't believe in that number. What I do believe in though, is that The Kerala Story is a mere movie. All these people arguing against this movie claim to be "secularists". News flash, any film in a secular industry is gonna be dramatized because in a secular industry people look for viewership and how to make any small story compelling be it through caricature or exaggeration. As far as I care, people can consume whatever media they want and then are responsible for researching and fact-checking on their own. Quick examples of this that I can think of are the Netflix TV show Narcos where they antagonized a supposed "judy moncada" who was completely made up, and The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, a supposed retelling of events in the Vietnam war that he later concedes wasn't accurate apart from the emotion. Authors, writers, and any other artist for that matter take creative liberties in storytelling. I don't know how or why people are taking this so seriously. Congratulations you can do your research!
Now in terms of being a "navie" that's lured into Hindu fanaticism, what's naive about loving a culture that's been here for centuries that resulted in the construction of beautiful architecture and tells the some of the most enthralling stories? If anyone called any of the Abrahmic religions fanatical, they'd immediately be pegged as islamophobic, christianophobic, etc, why can't Hindus get the same respect? Honestly, the one common trait in any land with foreigners is the sheer lack of respect for natives and it shows, be it India, the USA, Australia, etc. I'd highly recommend you get a reality check on yourself.

Adah dosent look malayali much
Tbh I thought so too. Haven't watched The KeRaLa FilEs, not planning to.
Hate how the Malayalam movie industry regularly casts Non-malayali and North Indian women to play Malayali female characters and then dubs the dialogue (bcs these women can't speak a lick of proper Malayalam🙄) all because they have fairer skin. They NEVER do this with males, they are almost always actual Malayali men. Bcs Dravidian/South Indian women are more brown-skinned or not as conventionally attractive according to Bollywood-standard Indian ideals. More proof that the movie industry is primarily intended for a male audience self-inserts who want to imagine themselves having a hot gf who looks north Indian.
I know The KeRaLa FilEs is a Bollywood film and not by the Malayalam movie industry, but anyways, Adah Sharma won't ever pass for a Malayali woman lmaoooo. She doesn't even pass for a half-Malayali. She's just another lying Bollywood shill cast specifically to antagonise us and look pretty so that the film's idiot Hindi audience can still feel bad for us while finding us sexy (bcs the Muslims be trafficking every other Malayali woman to Afghanistan apparently🙄) . So basically they can only feel sorry for the alleged Malayali women who are being trafficked if we look like Adah Sharma🙄. I'm a Jihadi conspiracy bot btw, pay no attention to what I'm saying.

How is the Kantara Kannada movie? Are there any reviews?
This review is from a Tamilian, from Chennai. I don’t speak Kannada but can fairly understand the language. The way South India deals with social subjects is very unique and diversified. Fresher Sarkari Naukari
Tumblr media
Malayalam movies predominantly try to keep it more regional and ethnic and they believe the more ethnic it is, the higher it has international appeal. Tamil movies predominantly keep it regional and political rather than ethnic. It is very hard not to politicize the subject if it speaks about society in general. Telugu movies make it too commercial where the social subject turns down to be a mere backdrop, while commercials take the center stage. And here comes the Kannada movie “Kantara” …. they have made it more regional and religious. And … that’s done perfectly well. (Visit blog : Fresher Sarkari Naukari)
Tumblr media
Kannada movies had long been criticized for not making commercial flicks. Since KGF (for a Tamilian) they had been taking it straight, delivering hits with a pan-India appeal. Kantara is on similar lines - a commercial masala flick but what makes it unique and distinct is how the script incorporates the roots of Kannada coastal regions, its tribal culture, belief in demigods, the tribal emotions, and native cultures including Yakshagana, Paddana, Bhoota Kola, Daivaradhane, Naagaradhane, and Kambala sport. (Visit blog : Fresher Sarkari Naukari)
Tumblr media
The hero is Panchurulii - a demi-god that protects the tribals. The story travels across 3 timelines, starting from the 18th century to date. The demi-god protects the people and the ones who protect those people. What happens if someone becomes a threat to those tribals??- Is demi-god just a myth or does it have emotions? - The script is too convincing without any religious bias. It's not about whether you are a believer or non-believer of god, folk tales, and myths. It's about what you become when you believe in your protector. The story is simple - forest land encroachment and the attempts of the local lords to appropriate land that belongs to poor tribal people for development, in the guise of being benevolent. It speaks about the crime and loot of forest resources, the discriminations tribals face and how they get exploited by rich landlords and the govt. It would have been politicized if it’s made in TN or Kerala, which means we will be missing a wonderful script on demi-god Panjuruli. (Visit blog : Fresher Sarkari Naukari)
Tumblr media
The script is simple in native dialect on myths, superstition and folklore - an unemployed hero who drinks, smokes, fist fights 10 guys single-handedly, and harasses the “employed’ heroine who’s a forest guard to force her to fall in love with him. That’s a typical tribal masculine mentality. There’s body shaming, there’s slut shaming, and everything. But that’s one part - the other part is about a belief system where a hero wants a god to save him, and when the god doesn’t turn up, he turns to a god to protect his people. God is not an emotion or myth. It’s a human emotion that turns myths into reality. BGM - this is one of the best BGM from the Kannada industry that echoes the sounds of a deep forest. The 1st 20 mins and the last 20 mins of bgm break the roof so effortlessly.
Like every movie - there’s a climax fight sequence that’s unrealistic with macho commercial shots. But what makes Kantara unique is the sequence - ” after” - the climax fight. Those last few mins steal the show. The way the god teaches people to stay united and peaceful - then disappears as if the job done is so intense and powerful. As a Tamilian, I welcome this attempt to incorporate local culture, customs, and traditions in movie scripts. The question of whether it’s intellectual or not is entirely personal. We should question myths but not question the trust behind questioning myths. Some myths are the base of our belief system toward peace and harmony. A strong and intense message from Kantara (means forest). (Visit blog : Fresher Sarkari Naukari)

Precision and Fluency: The Art of English to Malayalam Translation
Over 35 million people in the Indian state of Kerala and other places speak Malayalam, a Dravidian language that is known for being flowing, creative, and having its own unique grammar structures. English to Malayalam translation is an interesting task because of its large vocabulary, complicated language, and close ties to regional culture. It needs a skilled balance of correctness and emotional flow.
Why English to Malayalam Translation Matters
It is more important than ever to learn how to speak English and Malayalam together in Kerala, which is becoming more advanced very quickly. Here’s why it’s important to translate accurately and quickly:
Expanding Knowledge Accessibility: Kerala has a lot of people who can read and write and are eager to learn. Translating science books, papers, and websites into Malayalam gives people who know that language access to a lot of information.
Business Without Borders: With Kerala’s economy growing, translating from English to Malayalam makes it easier for businesses to talk to each other, sign contracts, and reach new customers.
Preserving Cultural Heritage: Kerala has a long history of writing. Classic English writing translated into Malayalam helps keep culture exchange alive while giving Malayalam readers new points of view.
Fostering Understanding: By translating news stories, social comments, and artistic works, people from different backgrounds can better understand each other and connect across cultures.
Mastering the Nuances of Malayalam Translation
If you want to translate from English to Malayalam, you need to know a lot about both languages. Here are some important things a translation needs to know:
Grammar and Syntax: The way words are made in Malayalam (with multiple endings) and how they can be put together can be very different from English. A translator has to carefully change words while keeping the message the same.
Verb Forms and Tenses: To correctly translate the details of an English source text, a translator must pay close attention to Malayalam’s complicated system of word construction, which takes into account tense, aspect, and mood.
Sandhi: A big part of Malayalam is sandhi, which is the mixing of sounds at the ends of words. For versions that flow smoothly and sound natural, translators need to keep sandhi rules in mind.
Cultural and Contextual Sensitivity: Some idioms, proverbs, and symbols that are unique to one culture might not have a clear translation in another. Translators have to find ways to communicate regional details and hidden meanings that are proper for the situation.
The Translator’s Toolkit
Here are some tools and methods a translator can use to get accurate and smooth translations from English to Malayalam:
Specialized Dictionaries: For accurate translations of scientific terms, industry-specific jargon, and complex words, you can’t do without a reliable English-Malayalam dictionary.
Style Guides: It’s especially important for big translation jobs to use style guides to make sure that the tone, words, and structure are all the same.
Immersion in Malayalam: Reading Malayalam books, watching Malayalam movies, and listening to Malayalam music can help a translation understand slang and the way the language flows.
Human Proofreading: Even though computer translation is now available, it is still important to have a native Malayalam speaker who is also skilled in English go over the translation carefully to find small mistakes and make sure it fits the culture.
Beyond Literal Translation: The Translator as Artist
The best translations from English to Malayalam aren’t just automatic changes of words. A good translator is like an artist who works with language, trying to:
Capture the Spirit of the Text: By getting to the heart of the feelings, humor, or message, the translator can find similar phrases in Malayalam that give the reader the same experience.
Evoke a Sense of Beauty: It is a poetic language, Malayalam. When translating, translators should try to pick words and phrases that look like they came from the source English text.
Respect Dialects: There are regional differences in Malayalam. If you know what language you want to reach, you can make the translation fit that language better.
EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE, ENHANCING UNDERSTANDING
English to Malayalam Translation is an art that requires skill, love, and a deep understanding of both languages. Translators make it easier for people from different language groups to understand each other by figuring out how grammar, words, and cultural background all work together. Accurate and smooth translation is an important part of Kerala’s relationship with the rest of the world, whether it’s for business, learning, or just making friends across countries.

The Top Movies of 2023
Every year I feel like I write the same spiel about the truly concerning  number of movies that I compulsively watched, and then make false promises about being more intentional about my film-watching and my blog-writing. But fear not, there's no overwrought analysis of my film watching this year, just an assurance that, for once, I have stayed true to my word and reduced my annual total by a sizable chunk. It was, however, still a lot.
Truth be told, I've been trying to write this wrap-up for weeks now, but I found myself enveloped in the gloom that sets in during the first few weeks of any year, except this time the fog seems denser than ever. This is not a reflection on the state of movies right now though. While everything else has either gone to shit or currently in the process, movies have not been this good in 4 years. We're lucky to have some incredible filmmakers return to peak form (Marty S) and others showcase their talent for the first time (Celine Song).
But this was also the year where domestically (The Kerala Story) and internationally (The Sound of Freedom), we saw an uptick in the mainstream success of conservative films built on the premise that the right-wing needs to go save good innocent people who are being taken advantage of by the savages. And shamelessly, people bought into this mediocre (at best) pandering, simply because it reinforces their narrow world view. As someone who constantly whines about the death of big dumb cinema, if this is the future of spectacle film, I might just be out on it.
Apologies to American Fiction, Poor Things, Ferrari, You Hurt My Feelings, The Boy and the Heron, The Holdovers and All of Us Strangers (all of which I have not yet seen), to Showing Up, King of Kotha, Marlowe, Your Lucky Day, The Boys in the Boat and The Last Voyage of the Demeter (all of which I saw and desperately wanted to love) and to myself for deciding to watch Ghosted, Heart of Stone, White Men Can't Jump and Salaar against my better judgement.
Here are my top 27 movies of 2023:
27. Bottoms
26. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
25. Neelavelicham
24. A Man Called Otto
23. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
22. Barbie
21. LOLA
20. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
19. Air
18. John Wick: Chapter 4
17. Sanctuary
16. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning
15. Oppenheimer
14. Anatomy of a Fall
13. Rye Lane
12. Biosphere
11. Flora & Son
10. Evil Dead Rise
Tumblr media
2023 was a spectacularly disappointing year for horror. The biggest hit of the year was Talk to Me, a movie that I liked but is so overwhelmingly despondent that it drowned out the scary aspects of it. Evil Dead Rise on the other hand harkens back to the classic horror franchise format, taking a tried and tested premise (cocky young person accidentally summons the dead) and putting it in an unpredictable new setting (a high rise building). It strikes the perfect balance between nightmarish, gruesome and goofy that makes you yelp and giggle all at once.
9. 2018
Tumblr media
This is the type of peak Bruckheimer/Simpson disaster flick that just went away 10 years ago, only scaled down to fit the Malayalam film industry. Does that take away at all from the melodrama or spectacle? Not even a bit. It's incredibly well made and well-balanced emotionally, and the ingenuity of the production design ensures that it will continue to hold-up visually in years to come.
8. Maestro
Tumblr media
If we put aside Bradley Cooper's obvious thirst for acknowledgement by the Academy and just look at Maestro on its own, you might get a glimpse of a movie that bends the classic Oscar bait biopic template to its own absurd ends. It's not a "cradle to grave" story nor does it limit its scope to a small, well-defined period in Leonard Bernstein's life. Instead it's much more impressionistic and formally inventive, giving the viewer a feel for who the man was in all aspects of his life. It's in direct conversation with the template of the "great man" biopic, starting down the path of each trope only to veer delightfully off course, whether that's by sidestepping into a dance sequence or literally running away just when a scene starts to feel too cliché.
7. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.
Tumblr media
As a person who cannot stand kid angst, I went into this movie expecting to like it with some reservations, which is very much how I felt about Kelly Fremon Craig's previous movie, The Edge of Seventeen. But Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. rises above the cringey uncomfortable moments we've come to expect from a coming of age story. It's wholesome and heartfelt, but with enough of a bite to it to overcome the usual allegations of saccharinity that are hurtled at a movie of this sort. It's finally perfect, with some great kid performances, and even greater showings from the adults. In particular, Rachel McAdams takes what could have been a put-upon harried mom role and adds just enough humour and sparkle to make her character feel fully fleshed out, without making the whole movie about her.
6. How to Blow Up a Pipeline
Tumblr media
Every year there's a movie that feels like it's ripped from the inside of my skull. How to Blow Up a Pipeline is exactly that. It's not for everyone (people have been known to zone out in the first 15 minutes) because it's an intense, violent story about trying to spark a revolution. Here's the thing about this movie, it believes in the power of direct action against corporations. And so do I.
5. Afire
Tumblr media
The latest film from Christian Petzold is on this list precisely for that reason. From the first time I watched Phoenix, I realised this was a director I'd want to be following closely. His movies are often strange and unpredictable, unfaltering in their portrayal of the weakest aspects of human nature while still somehow tying together and extremely compelling plot. Afire is to me the strangest of the lot, which is really saying something because his last movie was about a mermaid.
4. Polite Society
Tumblr media
Nida Manzoor is not yet a household name, but I can't imagine that'll be the case for much longer. I was first introduced to her work in the excellent British punk rock comedy show We Are Lady Parts (which is about a group of British Muslim girls who start a punk band), and Manzoor brings that culture clash chaos into Polite Society. It manages to take a love of old-school film stunts, an iconic Bollywood number and quick-fire dialogue and roll all that up into an irresistibly charming story about sisterhood.
3. Kaathal: The Core
Tumblr media
You might be able to argue that 2018 is on this list because of pure sentimentality and my personal attachment to Kerala. It's my list after all, my predispositions will be on display. Kaathal is not on here for those reasons. It's here because it's a heartfelt, earnest depiction of what being gay might mean in rural Kerala, and it somehow walk the tightrope between idealism and realism in a way that gives the audience hope that the unconditional acceptance of queer identities could be just around the corner. There's almost a straight line from Vijay Sethupathi’s role in Super Deluxe to this, but it's still a real pleasant surprise to see someone of Mammootty’s stature in an Indian film industry use that influence to make such a nuanced, emotional and ultimately hopeful film centred on a queer person.
2. Past Lives
Tumblr media
I could not for a long while explain why this movie hit home for me, but I think I'll give it a go. Past Lives depicts so clearly the struggle I've often felt to not let your present self erase your childhood memories and cultural identity, even if they're conflicting (as they often are). There is a familiar underlying fear in this movie that a happy memory you might have from a past life (if you will) would crumble under any amount of scrutiny, like an ancient paper suddenly exposed to sunlight. I've been told that I'm annoyingly sentimental about goodbyes (more so than usual, if you can imagine that) . After all, it's 2024 and very easy to stay in touch. But I know how easy it is to lose track of people that you loved deeply, like they were family even, simply because the physical and cultural distance was too wide to bridge through just social media. Past Lives made me think of them, and of all the different roads my life might have gone down and how, despite all that, I'd still choose to be where I am today. Schmaltzy, I know, but this is the movie to get in your feelings for.
1. Killers of the Flower Moon
Tumblr media
Every year, my number one movie is about storytelling, and this year is no different. It's not a purposeful trend though; I just respond very strongly to movies that play around with the idea that film is the most objective medium for storytelling. Killers of the Flower Moon is a premier example of that sort of subversion, although that doesn't necessarily come through for most of the running time of the movie. Superbly paced and tonally immaculate, Scorsese delivers one of his best films in the seventh decade of his career, and it hinges almost entirely on a perfectly calibrated performance from Lily Gladstone. But this film wouldn't work nearly as well if not for the incredibly nuanced and insightful ending that ends up being a testament to the art of adapting true stories.
***
There were some other bits and bobs from this year that I wanted to share.
As far as TV goes, Lockwood & Co. is perhaps the best new show of the year, despite it getting cancelled after the first season. It's spooky fun designed to satisfy horror mavens without turning away those who are not fond of your usual scares.
Slow Horses continues to be just as clever and callous as ever - a breath of fresh air in a somewhat stale spy-fic landscape.
And if you're looking for a traditional sitcom, there was none better this year than Primo.
As I write this, Killer Mike's Michael just won a whole bunch of Grammys. I've been a fan of him since I first stumbled onto the first Run the Jewels album, and this was the first time in recent memory that the Grammys made the cool choice in the rap categories. The only cooler pick would have been Mick Jenkins' new album, The Promise.
Other albums that I loved from this year include Cracker Island from Gorillaz and Paranoia, Angels, True Love by Christine and the Queens, both excellent entries into the pop-rock category for the year.
***
Also I'm on a podcast now. It's called Stir Fry and it's more regular than this (low bar). Stay tuned to that feed and soon you'll hear me lose my mind about the Billie Eilish song potentially winning and other unhinged Oscar reactions. Stay tuned here, and (fingers crossed) there might be another article soon - lots to write about this year.

COMMON IMMIGRATION CHALLENGES IN AUSTRALIA AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM
Navigating the immigration process in Australia can be a complex and demanding journey, often accompanied by various challenges. From visa complications to strict regulations and cultural adjustments, individuals seeking to migrate to Australia face a range of hurdles. Overcoming these obstacles requires detailed planning, understanding the visa landscape, meeting eligibility criteria, and adapting to a new cultural environment. Being prepared to meet the challenges proactively can significantly enhance the immigration experience in Australia.
Visa Complexity
Australia offers a wide range of visa options, each with its own set of criteria and complexities. Navigating this complex visa system can be overwhelming for applicants, leading to challenges such as understanding the appropriate visa category, meeting specific criteria, compiling necessary documentation, and adhering to changing immigration laws. To overcome visa complexity in Australian migration, individuals should start by thoroughly researching the visa options available and identifying the most suitable visa subclass for their circumstances. Seeking professional advice from an Australia Work Visa Consultant in Kochi, Kerala can help in understanding the visa process and finding the most suitable option.
Occupational Skills and Demand
Obtaining a visa often involves proving that one maintains skills in high demand in Australia. Undertaking relevant skills assessments, gaining experience, or acquiring Australian-recognized qualifications can help in meeting these requirements. Many Australian states and territories have their own migration programs designed to address specific skill shortages in their regions. These programs nominate individuals with particular skills and experience for skilled migration to those areas.
Language Proficiency
Adequate English language skills are essential for many visas. Taking English language courses or classes can help improve language skills. There are many language institutions, both in Australia and internationally, that offer courses designed to enhance English proficiency.  Immersion in an English-speaking environment or regular practice with native speakers can help with language proficiency. This can involve engaging in conversations, watching English-language movies or TV shows, and reading English books or newspapers.
Job Opportunities
Securing employment in Australia can be tough for immigrants due to competition and local experience requirements. Networking, obtaining certifications, or volunteer work can help in gaining local experience and connections. Some professions require recognition or accreditation in Australia, and the process of validating overseas qualifications can be time-consuming and complex.  Australia has a competitive job market, and certain industries or regions may have more competition for available positions.
Managing Finances and Taxes
Relocating to Australia involves various initial expenses, such as visa fees, relocation costs, accommodation, and setting up a new household. Saving and budgeting beforehand are vital to covering these costs. Researching, understanding, and planning finances before and after arrival can significantly reduce the transition. It’s advisable to stay updated on financial regulations and seek guidance from relevant authorities for any specific financial concerns related to immigration.
Seeking guidance from registered migration agents or immigration lawyers can be beneficial. Australia Immigration Consultants in Kochi, Kerala can provide advice on visa options, occupation assessments, and the specific requirements for various skilled migrations, and being prepared to meet the challenges proactively.
