If You Don't See It, Be It!
I just watched yesterday's new episode of Blue's Clues & You, and I'm impressed with its story and message. Josh, Blue and their friends are making their own Super Wonder Team movie, but Slippery Soap questions if Periwinkle can really play Rocket Blast, a role that's usually played by a dog. Hearing this, Periwinkle doesn't know what to do.
To cheer him up, Josh shows him a handmade comic book about how Josh wanted to play a superhero, but his friends doubt that he can because he had brown skin, and every superhero they saw were white. Josh's Lola tells him that just because he didn't see any Filipino superheroes, it didn't mean that he couldn't be one. With these words of encouragement, Josh decides that he will be Song Man. The next day, Josh's friends apologized for hurting his feelings, realizing that what they thought before wasn't true.
I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't seen it, but I will say that it reinforces the message that anybody can be a hero regardless of their race/gender/sexuality/disability/etc.
If you don't see it, be it!

“As someone with ADHD, it’s a great reminder for me that everything doesn’t have to be perfect. Just show up, put the work in, and keep on going. The practice of getting up in the morning and physically working through the mental roadblocks that would normally be detrimental to my day is a gift.”

highlights below, color-coded for convenience: Steve (green), Donovan (purple), Josh (blue)
Donovan took care of me when I got COVID. He rolled Gatorade down the hall toward me in his house.
Steve and Donovan pulled me aside before we started, and they said, “I don’t know if anyone told you, but I don’t think you should feel pressure to do or replicate anything that we did.”
You could argue that Blue has some supernatural powers and is inherently superior, and if they did have a direct confrontation, Bluey would be at a super disadvantage.
When parents did come up to me and say they appreciated what I did, I always described it as a sucker punch.
[Josh to Dono] You coming in and being who you are and playing Joe the way you did, I think it helped a lot of people deal with change.
Blue’s Clues to me felt so small and personal. It just felt like me and a camera and conversation.
If you’re talking to a roomful of people, you’re not going to be able to be vulnerable in the way you need to be when you’re talking to one person, when you need help.
There was one time when someone introduced me, and the person just felt my arm. [Dono and Steve promptly take turns feeling Josh's arms]
I do get a lot of thirsty comments about Donovan. Within my friend circle, they’re like, Joe though. “Zaddy” has been thrown around a lot within my personal text chains.
I was gifted a Handy Dandy Notebook from set. It’s amazing. They hand-cut every page, like everything was made from scratch.
[The Thinking Chair is] where I read books. It’s my Pondering Chair.
There were two costumes that were some of the more comfortable things I’ve ever worn in my life.
I would love to get all of our collective memorabilia together and have an Airbnb.

I MET STEVE, JOE, JOSH, AND THE CO-CREATORS OF BLUE’S CLUES
Josh: I honestly thought it was so funny that he and my dad talked the most about DC, comics, other superhero stuff. Josh is such a nerd /pos I love him so much. He was so nice.
Donovan aka Joe: HE IS MY FAVORITE HOST AND I STAND BY IT 🗣️🗣️ HE’S UNDERRATED IMO 😤
He was soooo nice. Like, he really took his time talking to me and my dad. He gave me a clue sticker and signed the back of my badge :3
AND I GOT TO HUG HIM 🥹🫶✨💜
Traci Paige Johnson (left, also the voice of Blue) and Angela Santomero (right): THEY WERE SO NICE (literally saying this towards everyone because it’s so true). I also showed them my hostsona (KALLIE AND LIGHTBULB ARE REAL 🤭) and said my art looks really good enough for it to be in a kid’s cartoon!!
Steve: The man, the guy, the legend. Super cool, super, chill, and even more kind. I got to fist bump him at the end.
The fanart pieces I gave to:
Steve, Joe, and Josh
