Today was our first day of our hiking tour in the Tena Valley on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. It was a bit chilly this morning but a beautiful day and perfect for hiking.
After a stellar breakfast (which helped to make up for dinner last night) we took the option of a lift up towards the St Elena ermita. There was heaps to see around there so we decided we’d rather spend the time there than walking to that point.
In this area are a prehistoric rock formation (like a baby Stonehenge), a fort from Napoleónic times, the pretty church (Ermita) and bunkers, etc from the Franco era and a waterfall - fabulous.
We then started the walk proper and what a beautiful day it was. We spent a lot of time in the forest, crossing creeks, overlooking lakes and dams and of course the imposing mountains.
There was the option of a flying fox jaunt in Hoz de Jaca but we wanted to make sure we didn’t arrive in Panticosa too late. It was about a 15.5km walk with about 800m of elevation.
Panticosa is a ski resort and a really nice destination. Luckily we get to spend two nights here (great for the washing). Having checked in we headed off for a post walk drink before heading back for showers, washing and some Vuelta watching.
We ate in the hotel’s restaurant which is actually across the street. An interesting evening where the waiter tried to convince Jose that tiramisu and Black Forest cake were the same thing 🙄 It turned out desserts were not their forte but the rest of the meal was lovely. Full we waddled back to the hotel for a good nights sleep before doing it all again tomorrow 😎

We picked Jose "Boy Boi" Tena as our first feature because he’s simply jazzy, figuratively and literally.
But there's nothing simple about Boy Boi's choreography. His technique shines through his sharp yet fluid jazz funk choreography. He’s jazz reinvented. #JazzisBack.
