Assuming each prospect hits their ceiling, this is what the Yzerplan is leading up to. We may still need to wait a bit longer, but the Red Wings will be Cup contenders soon.

Ex-POTUS Donald Trump recaps Jets/Browns game during rally
Screenshot: Twitter/@jetupnationcrew For most of his life, former President Donald Trump has been obsessed with football. There are failed bids to become the owner of an NFL team, taking control of the New Jersey Generals in a past version of the USFL, and calling players like Colin Kaepernick who knelt during the national anthem to protest systemic racism a “son of a bitch” before becoming an…

SUMMARY: following his first ever super bowl win, you and joe travel around the streets of los angeles.
WARNINGS: short + kissing + fluff!
Tumblr media
joe feels water get poured down his back while his teammates scream in his ear. the cinncinati bengals just won their first ever super bowl in franchise history. though last year's super bowl run ended in a devastating way, being able to come back the following year and prove he's worthy of winning the lombardi and mvp, means a lot to joe.
joe turns around seeing ja'marr smiling at him with tears running down his face, "we did it brother!" he yells, with his louisiana accent coming out. "i couldn't have done any of this without you, tee, or tyler." joe says before pulling ja'marr in for a hug.
he sees you walking towards him and opens his arms to hug you. "you did it babe," you scream with a smile on your face. joe picks you up spinning you around as you giggle. "i couldn't have done this with you baby." joe says in your ear, you kiss him without a care in the world.
"where are we going?" you giggle as joe drags you down the quiet sidewalks of california. you two decided to ditch the club after a few hours, wanting to see what else the state of cali has to offer. "i just want to spend time with you," joe smiles and your cheeks turn pink.
joe pulls you closer to his body, kissing you with all the breath left in him. pulling away from joe, you wipe your lipstick off of his lips. "woah buddy, someone is really happy." joe grins, "i'm just happy baby." you nod your head and wrap your arms around his neck. "i remember the start of our relationship like it was yesterday."
you and joe had been co-workers back when he was at lsu. he was the first person to actually notice you upon the day you started working for this firm. his smile and manners charmed you, but it was too risky to date a co-worker. besides, you were too scared to make the first move anyways. so here you were, two years later, dating your former colleague.
you giggled at that thought quietly. you love being able to wake up to joe each and every morning. you pinch his noise, causing joe to huff before a deep blush comes across his face and he hides it by pulling his hoodie down, to cover his whole head. you always laugh and make it up to him by saying a silly spongebob line.
"want me to do it again?" you ask in your best spongebob voice with a small smile on your face. joe doesn't say anything until you hear a small snort come from him and you two crack up.
you think it is oh so adorable how he still watches cartoons. once you two became really close friends, he started coming over to your house with two huge spongebob onesies. you smiled sheepishly, welcoming him with warm arms and a comforting hug!
now you two are standing in some dark alley kissing on one another after he won the super bowl. he should be with his teammates, but he has you in his arms, loving on him. the best gift joe could ever receive. "this is magical, honey, i'm happy to spend my time with you."
you hold joe's hands, standing on your tippy toes smiling at him, "oh joe, anything for you."

——————————————————
January 29, 2023
Today is the day.
The day the whole city of Cincinnati and Bengals fans all over the country have been waiting for.
Today is the AFC championship game. The Bengals will be playing against the Kansas City Chiefs for the second year in a row. Both of these teams are slowly starting to create one of the biggest rivalries in the American Football Conference of the NFL. Both teams have excellent players on both sides of the ball, with both teams quarterbacks being arguably the top two in NFL at this very moment. It should be an exciting game for sure.
Not only will it be exciting, but it'll be quite interesting too. This is one of the most important games of the season. The winner of this game will head to Super Bowl 57 and play against the Philadelphia Eagles in hopes of winning the Lombardi trophy.
The nerves are high today for everybody—all for different reasons too. Of course the game is causing some of the nerves, but there are even more nerves being added to those from the looming game.
First, Emmas due date is today. You are all hoping she doesn't go into labor during the game...
Second, you’re going to be in Arrowhead Stadium for the game. You’ve heard from some of the girls that the fans aren't always the nicest when you’re in their territory. You’re hoping none of you will have any issues tonight...
And lastly, the thing that's causing you to have the most nerves. You will be meeting Joe's parents for the first time tonight.
You were going to sit with the other WAGs, but Joe was concerned for your safety so he asked if you could sit with his parents, just to give him some peace of mind so he wasn't worrying about you during the game...
~flashback~
"You're going to the championship game right?"
You smiled, "Of course I am. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
The corner of Joes mouth quirked up into a small smile, "Good," he said softly. He cleared his throat and began to fidget with the bracelets wrapped around his wrists, "I have something important to ask you."
"What is it?" you asked, setting down the towel you were folding so you could give Joe your full attention.
"The fans can get pretty intense at Arrowhead. I would hate for there to be a situation and I'm not there to protect you Y/n," he sighed, "My parents are going to be at the game, and it would really make me feel better if you sat with them."
Your eyes widened slightly at his suggestion. You still haven't met his parents. You were absolutely terrified to meet his mom and dad. But you do love Joe and you want to make him feel content, especially with the upcoming important game. Any way you could ease his anxieties leading up to game day, you would gladly do.
"But if you don't want to, I get it.” he said, “Maybe you could meet up with them before the game?"
"Joe," you said, smiling softly, "I'm sure nothing will happen. I'll be fine, I promise." you walked over to where he stood by the foot of your bed. You wrapped your arms around him and looked up into his soft blue eyes. "but if it'll make you feel better, I'll sit with your parents."
He nodded as a small smile made its way onto his face, "Thank you." you pulled away from him and got on your tip toes so you could kiss his nose. He scrunched his nose as soon as your lips were away from the tip of his nose. You chuckled at his reaction and went back to folding towels, thankful that you were able to ease your loving boyfriends worries.
~end of flashback~
Isn't he just the sweetest?
Right now, you’re currently in Macee's hotel suite getting ready with a couple other Bengals WAGs. The game doesn't start for a few hours, so you have plenty of time to get ready. As you were curling your hair, Holly and Macee were standing next to you doing their makeup.
"So Y/n," Holly grinned enthusiastically, "I saw you and Joe went Instagram official. That's so exciting!"
You smiled, "Yeah, it is. It feels good to make our relationship public," your smile faltered slightly, "even if some of his fans already don't like me."
It's true, You and Joe went Instagram official just days ago. While you received lots of love and support for your relationship from many fans, you received a lot of hate too. Many girls told Joe he could do much better and that they already didn't like you based on one shared photo. You didn't let it get to you though. You expected to receive some hate. So many girls fawn over Joe every day, so it only makes sense for you to receive hate from those that don't want him to be with anybody. You don't let it get to you though because you know that the real fans of Joes support him and his relationships. As long as he is happy, they're happy for him. And that's all that matters to You. Plus, you’re sure you’ll find a way to get some of those fan girls to come around. Hey, it worked with Joe.
Macee frowned, "Awe Y/n, don't listen to them. They're just jealous. You're an amazing woman and Joe is so lucky to have a beautiful girl like you."
Emma, who was sitting on the closed toilet seat doing her eyeshadow, smiled as she said, "She's right. Don't listen to the haters babe."
"Thanks girls, you're all the best," you smiled at them through the mirror. As you all continued your pre-game glam, there was a knock at the door of the hotel room. All of your heads snapped to the direction of the door. Holly placed her straighter down on the marble countertop, "I got it." She scampered out of the bathroom and down the small hallway, disappearing for just a few moments before she came back into the bathroom holding a white and gold gift box.
"Y/n," she said in a sing-songy tone. He held the box out, "this is for you."
You hesitantly grabbed the box from Holly's outstretched arms. A smirk was on her face as she watched you examine the outside of the box. You furrowed your eyebrows as you noticed there wasn't a tag on it anywhere that said who it was from.
"Are you going to open it?" Macee asked, setting her makeup brush down and watching you.
"I guess so," you shrugged, setting the box on the counter, "I wonder who it's from?”
You unwrapped the gold bow, setting it down on the counter as you took the top off of the white box. All three girls stood together with wide grins on their faces as they watched you open the contents of the box. As you pulled the top off, you let out a gasp as your eyes fell on a number nine diamond necklace identical to the one you got Joe for Christmas. There was also a neatly folded orange jacket and a small white note. You picked up the note, a wide grin making its way onto your face as you saw Joes handwriting:
Tumblr media
Your heart swelled as you read his sweet message. You set the note down on the bathroom counter and pulled the jacket out of the box. Your mouth gaped open as you held it up and looked over both sides. The jacket itself was orange, with the front saying Cincinnati in white block letters with a black outline. The sleeves had three large black stars on them, and on the back of the jacket was the number nine and Burrow, just like the back of Joe's jersey. Both his number and name in white lettering with black outline just like the front of the jacket.
"That is adorable!" Holly gushed as you held up the jacket. Emma nodded, her eyes welling up with tears as she looked at the jacket.
"That's not all," you said as you set the jacket down so you could hold up the necklace, "he got me a necklace to match his."
Macee placed her hands over her heart and gushed, "How sweet. Joe is such a great guy."
"He really is," you nodded, beaming with happiness as you looked at the jacket and necklace once again.
"Well, put them on girl!" Holly exclaimed, motioning for you to put the jacket on. You slid the jacket on and looked in the mirror, smiling widely as you took in your appearance.
"Here," Emma said, reaching for the necklace, "may I?"
You nodded and pulled your hair up with your hands so that Emma could put the chain of the diamond nine necklace around your neck. Once it was clasped you thanked her and let your hair back down.
"You look so beautiful," Macee smiled genuinely, "Joe is going to love it."
You smiled, "I hope so."
The four of you went back to getting yourselves ready for the game. As you continued styling your hair, your smile never once left my face and neither did the blush on your cheeks. You were so excited for the game, and you I couldn't wait to see Joe after the game. If the Bengals win, it’ll be a night full of celebrating.
~time skip~
"Section one-o-one, row seven..." You looked up from your ticket to find your seat. You glanced down the row of seats full of Bengals and Chiefs fans. About seven seats in from where you stood at the end of the row, an empty seat was next to a honey blonde haired woman wearing an orange Burrow jersey.
That must be Joe's mom. You thought to yourself. You took a deep breath and made your way over to them, excusing yourself as you walked past the seated fans. The movement of more fans filling the section around them caused Joe's parents to both look up as soon as you got close to their seats. Joe's mom grinned as her eyes fell on your standing figure. She jumped up from her seat and immediately pulled you into a tight embrace once you were close enough.
"Hi honey!" she smiled as she rubbed your back, "you must be Y/n?" She pulled away and held onto your forearms. You nodded, "That's me."
"Joe has told us so much about you," she smiled, "he was right when he said you were the most beautiful girl he's ever seen."
You blushed a deep shade of crimson. You don't think you’ve ever heard Joe say that before. "Awe, thank you Mrs. Burrow." you said, letting out a slight chuckle as you spoke.
"Please, call me Robin." She smiled as she moved out of the way so you could introduce yourself to Joes dad.
"Hi," he smiled, "I'm Jimmy."
"Y/n," you said, holding your hand out for him to shake. He shook his head and pulled you into a quick hug instead. Based on first impressions, Joes parents seemed super nice.
"It's nice to finally meet you Y/n. Joe told us all about you before he came home for Christmas," Jim said as he sat back down in his seat, Robin doing the same.
"We were hoping we'd get to meet you then, but Joe told us you had plans." Robin finished.
You sat down next to Robin and nodded, "My family from Arizona wasn't able to fly in, so I just stayed home and spent some time by myself and with some friends of ours."
Robin frowned, "Oh sweetie we would have loved to have you! I'm shocked Joe didn't invite you. If I had known you'd be by yourself I would have reached out to you."
You smiled sincerely, “Oh it's okay, really. He invited me, but, I didn't want to intrude on your family Christmas."
"Oh stop, we would have loved to have you. You seem like a wonderful girl, plus you make Joey happy." She smiled, reaching out for and squeezing your hand.
"I'm glad," you said, smiling sweetly, "because he makes me happy too."
Robins smile widened and as soon as she was about to say something, the stadium lights dimmed and the pre-game announcements began. You took a deep breath and looked out into the field. The game would be starting very soon. Your nerves were at their worst as the anticipation of game day was coming to an end. In just a matter of hours, Joe and the Bengals could be heading to the Super Bowl for the second season in a row. You really hope that is what the outcome of this game will be...
As the game went on, it was back and forth between the kickers for a while. Each team scoring a pair of field goals before any touchdowns were made. About three minutes before halftime, Travis Kelce caught a pass and ran it in for a Chiefs touchdown. The fans beside you and Joes parents went wild while your shoulders slumped in disappointment. However, with just seconds to go in the quarter, Evan kicked another field goal for the Bengals, making the score 6-13. You tried not to be too anxious about the score as Robin reassured you that they were down at halftime last season and still came back to win the game. You were hopeful that it would be the same way this year, too.
During halftime you sat and talked with Joes parents and got some pictures with fans—which was something you weren’t used to. But all of the fans around you, even the Chiefs fans, were all very friendly. As much as you love sitting with the girls during games, it was nice sitting with Joes parents. His mom is super sweet, and his dad is so fun to talk with. You truly don't know why you were so nervous to meet his parents, they're both so kind and welcoming, just like Joe.
"So Y/n," Robin said, turning to face you, "Joe told us a bit about how you two met, but I want to hear it from you."
You chuckled, "It's crazy."
"Oh we've heard," Jimmy said, chuckling as he too turned to face you.
You let out a soft sigh before you told them the story of how you and Joe met and became roommates. You told them all about the lease switch up and the two of you not being on great terms at first—which Robin thought was hilarious. You told them about your first game experience, your short "fling" with Evan, celebrating Christmas with Joe, and all of the breakfasts you’ve shared together. Most importantly though, you told them about when you first realized you’re in love with their son and how you started dating. You were sure to leave out all of the uh...details that led to your relationship starting though. His parents didn’t need to hear about that.
"A lot has changed in my life since September when I moved to Cincinnati, but I wouldn't change any of it. Being Joe's roommate is the best thing that could have happened to me. It funny but, I'll always be thankful our landlord gave me the wrong lease. Because If it weren't for the lease situation, I don't think I'd be sitting here right now." you finished, smiling softly.
Robin began to tear up as she listened to you end the story about you and Joe. She smiled softly and leaned over, wrapping her arms around you and squeezing you gently.
"Thank you. You've made him so happy sweetie. I haven't seen Joe this happy in a long time."
Jimmy nodded, smiling as he said, "She's right. Joe really does love you Y/n, he has for a while."
Robin pulled away, "It's true. He called me back in early December asking for advice on what to do. He loves you so much, and it makes me so happy to see that you love him as much as he loves you."
You smiled, "I do love him," you gazed out onto the field, seeing the Bengals players coming out of the locker room and back to the sideline. Your eyes fell on Joe and your smile widened, "a lot." You finished softly, blowing Joe a kiss as his blue eyes scanned the crowd. His eyes fell on you and a smile pulled at his lips. He tapped the upper left side of his chest twice and turned back around to get ready to take the field. The bright smile stayed on your face as you watched him take the field with his teammates. Robin and Jimmy beamed with joy as they both watched your sweet exchange. It’s safe to say Joe's parents are very happy with your relationship.
The second half of the game felt like it was going on forever. The scoring went back and forth, and with almost thirteen minutes left of the game, the Bengals were on 2 yard line, getting ready to run it in for their second touchdown of the game. Joe snapped the ball and handed it off to Samaje Perine, who ran into the end zone with ease. Robin, Jim and you all jumped out of your seats and cheered wildly, giving eachother high fives before doing the same to the Bengals fans around you. Evan kicked the extra point, bring the score to a tie of 20-20. If your nerves weren't bad earlier in the game, they definitely were now. There was still plenty of time for the guys to score again, but they are playing against the Chiefs, so it won't be easy to get many opportunities to score again.
The time ticked down and neither team was able to get far enough down the field to score. Both teams were struggling offensively, however, with almost ten seconds left of the game, the Chiefs had the ball and it was 3rd and 4. Mahomes snapped the ball and you held your breath as you watched Mahomes scramble. Not able to make a play, he ran out of bounds. As he ran out of bounds, a Bengals player ran into him, knocking him down on the sidelines. The refs threw their yellow flags instantly.
"Oh god," you frowned as your head fell. The flag was on Cincinnati. With ten seconds to play, the Chiefs had the ball with a new set of downs. “It's over isn't it?" you asked, voice laced with sorrow as you looked over at Robin. Her lips formed in a straight line and she nodded. You watched the ending of the game with your hands covering your mouth the entire time. The chiefs scored the game winning field goal, sending them off to play in Super Bowl 57. The Bengals season was now over.
Your heart broke as you watched Joe walk out onto the field to congratulate Mahomes and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe and his teammates have worked so hard all season, pushing through all of adversity and slander from the media as they've been dubbed "the underdogs" of the playoffs. You and so many others wanted to see them succeed so bad. Sadly, they fell short.
"God they were so close," Jimmy breathed out, shaking his head.
Robin frowned, turning to you as she pulled you into a hug, "I'm sorry sweetie. Want to come with us to meet Joe before he heads to the locker room?"
You nodded, smiling sadly at them. You needed to see Joe, but you knew seeing his disappointment would only hurt your heart even more. Once the crowd of fans started to leave the stadium, the three of you made your way to the locker room, Joes mom wrapping an arm around your shoulder as you walked to the tunnel. You were stopped by security, but once you showed your badges to the officers they let the three of you through. You waited a couple minutes in silence, the air somber as players exited the locker room with their heads hung low and shoulders slumped in defeat. The door to the locker room swung open and Joe walked out in his pre-game outfit, holding his bags and looking at you all with a sad smile.
"Hey guys," he said softly, "sorry for making you come all this way."
Joe dropped his bags as Robin walked up to him and pulled him into a tight hug. She rubbed his back as he wrapped his arms around his mother, closing his eyes and nodding as she whispered something to him. When she pulled away from Joe, Jimmy took her place and pulled his son into a tight hug. He pat Joe on the back as he pulled away from him. Joe's eyes fell on you, his beautiful blues growing watery as he smiled sadly at you.
"Hey you," he whispered, gesturing for you to come over to him. You smiled softly and fell into his embrace. You squeezed him gently as you stayed in each others arms for a few moments.
"I'm so proud of you Joe," you said softly. You pulled yourself out of his embrace so that you could place a loving kiss to his temple. It broke my heart to see Joe this disappointed. You knew he was putting all of the blame on himself, even though this loss wasn’t his fault. He pulled way and smiled sadly at you, "Thanks," he mumbled softly. You rubbed his shoulder and stepped away so that he could speak with his parents again.
"We're going to head back to the hotel. We love you so much Joe," Robin said as she pulled him into another hug, "we're proud of you no matter what honey."
"Thanks mom. I love you."
She smiled and walked over to you, pulling you into a hug, "It was so good to meet you Y/n."
"It was good to meet you guys too." you smiled, squeezing her gently. Robin pulled away from you as you said one last goodbye to Jim. The two of them left the tunnel and exited the stadium, leaving you and Joe by yourselves.
You noticed Joe's red eyes and slumped shoulders as he wore a slight frown on his face. You grabbed his hand and squeezed it gently, "I love you Joe."
"I love you too," he said quietly, he let out a heavy sigh as he looked down at you, "will you stay with me tonight? We leave tomorrow morning to go back to Cincinnati."
You smiled softly, "Of course I will. Just send me the address."
"I will," he cleared his throat, "I have to do a press conference, so I'll meet you there."
"I can wait for-."
Joe cut you off, "It's okay. I'll see you later."
"Okay," you smiled sadly, "well, I love you."
"I love you too," he said, voice soft as tears threatened to spill over if he looked at you any longer. He leaned down and briefly kissed your lips before walking down the tunnel to the room he would be doing his press conference in. You let out a soft sigh as you turned around and exited the stadium, deciding to head to Joes hotel and wait for him to get back. You could only hope he'd start to feel better soon. This loss was really getting to him.
~time skip...again~
You were sitting on the edge of Joes bed, texting the girls group chat and thanking them once again for welcoming you into their group with open arms this season. They truly are a wonderful group of women and you already can't wait for game days with them next season. As you hit send, the door to the hotel room opened. Joe walked in and smiled softly at you as he locked the door behind him.
"Hey," you said, voice quiet, "how was your press conference."
Joe slipped his shoes off and shrugged, "Good as it could be I guess." His voice was a bit monotone as he spoke, clearly still upset over the loss.
You couldn’t help but frown slightly at his demeanor. You stood up from the bed and walked over to him. You grabbed his hand before wrapping your arms around his tall frame. Joe wrapped an arm around your upper back, letting his hand come up to rest on the back of your head. His fingers softly ran through the strands of your hair. You stayed in each others embrace for a few moments before Joe pulled away and looked down at you.
"I uh," he rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm going to go outside for a bit. Get some fresh air."
"Okay, do you want me to come with you?"
Joe shook his head, "I'm alright." With that, he walked out of the room and out to the balcony of his suite. You frowned as you looked out to where Joe was standing. His shoulders were slumped as he leaned against the black railing of the balcony, looking out at the lit up city of Kansas City. You pulled your lower lip between your teeth, contemplating whether or not you should go outside to be with him. You knew he was hurting and he needed to cope with this tough loss on his own at some point. But right now, you couldn't let him stay out there by himself as his thoughts of self criticism ran wild. You took a deep breath as you walked over to the sliding glass door, opening it so that you could go outside to be with Joe.
You walked up behind him, careful not to startle him. "Hey," you said softly, placing a hand on his broad shoulder. You wanted to comfort him the best you could. You knew how tough this loss was for him. They were so, so close. Joe looked up at you with a tight lipped smile. His face full of a look of defeat, chin quivering and those beautiful blue eyes were watery with unshed tears that were threatening to spill over at any moment.
You frowned and let out a soft and sorrowful, "Oh." You wrapped your arms around his torso, letting your hands rest on his pecs as you held him tightly. You placed a soft kiss to the middle of his back before resting your cheek against him. You heard Joe sniffle a couple times before his shoulders began to shake. Joe turned around in your embrace so he was facing you. He immediately pulled you into his arms and buried his face in the crook of your neck.
You sat both of you down on the furniture of the balcony, holding him close as he finally let out all of the emotions he'd been holding in since the game ended. You slowly ran your fingers through his messy hair, careful not to pull too hard on any strands of his dark blonde hair. Joes shoulders shook as you comforted him. The frown never leaving your face as you rubbed Joe's back and whispered sweet nothings to him. It broke your heart to see him this upset.
"I'm so proud of you," you whispered before placing a kiss on the crown of his head, "so, so proud."
After a couple minutes, Joes painful sobs turned into the occasional sniff. He pulled his head away from your chest and wiped his eyes.
"I'm sorry," he said, letting out a wet chuckle, "I got tears and snot all over you."
You brought your hand up to his check, stroking his tear stained cheeks. "It's okay honey," you smiled softly, "it's okay."
Joe nodded as a frown arose from his lips, "I don't know why, but this almost hurts worse than losing the super bowl."
Your frown deepened, your tone melancholy as you asked, "Why's that?"
He shrugged and took a deep, shaky breath, "We were just so close. I know I let everyone down. I let my teammates down, my coaches, the fans, my parents, you. I just wanted you to see us get there again. I wanted you to be there when I won my first Super Bowl, Y/n. And I failed at that."
"Oh Joey," you grabbed his hand and squeezed it gently, "you'd never let me down. I'm so proud of you, win or lose. You have worked so hard all season, it's amazing you guys got to this point. Don't let one game get to you. I know it's important to you," you sighed, "but you're going to get to this championship every year. I know you are. And yeah, maybe I didn't get to see you win your first Super Bowl this year, but you have so many years left to get your ring Joe." you brought his hand up to your mouth and placed a gentle kiss on one of the prominent veins in hand, "and I'll be at every single game, watching and rooting for you, win or lose. I will see you get your ring someday, Joe."
He smiled softly and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a tight embrace. You hugged him back, squeezing him just as tight as he squeezed you. You breathed in his scent, finding comfort in it even if the smell of sweat still lingered on him.
"Thank you, Y/n. I love you so much." He murmured softly, his voice just a little bit louder than a whisper.
"I love you too, Joe." you kissed his temple, "I'm proud of you no matter what, nine." The two of you pulled away from each other and you held up the number nine iced out necklace that was dangling from your neck. Joe smiled as he pulled the exact same chain out from under his white t-shirt.
"There's that smile," you teased, leaning forward to capture his lips in a sweet kiss. Joe smiled into the kiss and brought his hand up to gently cup you cheek. You pulled away from each other and just stared into each others eyes. You could tell from his dropped eyes that Joe still seemed a bit disappointed with the outcome of the game, but he did seem to be a little bit more upbeat after he had his moment. He leaned back on the couch of the balcony of the hotel room. He put his arm up on the back and gestured for you to join him. You sat back against the couch and tucked yourself into Joe's side. He brought his arm down from the couch and let it rest on your side.
"You know," Joe said, quietly, "I'm actually looking forward to the off-season. I think it'll be the best one yet."
"Yeah?" you asked, craning your neck to look up at him.
"You know why?" he questioned as his fingers began to delicately stroke the skin of your arm. You hummed, urging him to continue. Joe looked down at you and smiled softly, his blue eyes shining from the Kansas City moonlight.
"Because I get to spend all of it with you, Y/n."
A blush rose to your cheeks as you grinned happily at him and his confession. The two of you smiled softly at one another as you laid back and enjoyed the moment together out on the balcony of Joes Kansas City hotel room. As sad as you are that the Bengals season has come to an unfortunate end, you can't wait for all of the memories that you’ll be making with Joe during the off-season.

As a brand new Justin fan what are some things you suggest I watch/read to get to know more about him?
I definitely recommend these articles:
"The Awakening of Justin Herbert"(Daniel Popper, The Athletic, Jan 2021)
"The Magic and Mystery of L.A. Chargers QB Justin Herbert" (Mina Kimes, ESPN, Sep 2021
"A Silent Killer with Great Hair" (Tim Keown, ESPN, Jan 2023)
"Nothing Has Changed For Justin Herbert Except For Bank Account And Expectations" (Jeff Miller, LA Times, Sep 2023)
There are a lot of videos to watch and a few podcasts to listen to but I've shortlisted a couple of my favourites:
Chargers: All In
Drue Tranquill Podcast episode ft. Justin
Who Dares Wins Podcast with Anthony Noto: Bouncing Back From Adversity with Justin Herbert
Takeout: Justin Herbert & Gabe Nabers Guess 90s Trends
Justin Herbert Does Work In A Rage Room
Homecoming: Justin Herbert Returns to Oregon Campus
Campin' Out: Justin Herbert episode
Justin Herbert reflects on his career (PAC-12)
Justin Herbert Mic'd Up 1, 2 & 3 (He also features a bit in Joe Lombardi's Mic'd up videos so watch those too)
Honestly I recommend just watching as many interviews featuring him as you can and any "funniest moments" compilation videos as well. There are lots of moments in a lot of videos/interviews I think kinda add up to give you an idea of him. Hope this all helps! 🙏

Collide-Justin Herbert-22
Tumblr media
A/N: This is fiction, I do not know the LA Chargers or anyone associated with them.
Sunday night football was something else.
AnnSophie and Sara were once again at Joe and Alisha's house. It was them and a few other castmates. The food spread was ridiculous. The drinks were pouring and it was only pregame.
This was a big game for the Chargers. She had been on twitter and saw Emmaunel Acho call Justin a 'social media quarterback' followed up by a dumb song.
She was a hothead, she didn't like people she loved getting critiqued plus he was taking it too far in her opinion.
The first period was frustrating. But the good news was the Chargers defense was holding up really well. Joe echoed Sara's thoughts. "Our defense is actually good, and now our offense can't get shit done. Fucking Lombardi." Joe muttered before taking a shot.
One thing she learned quickly was that no real Chargers fan liked the Offensive Coordinator. Even Justin expressed severe frustration at moments. Well he never spoke about it openly to her, but she knew. The second period things started happening as Justin threw a touchdown pass to Mike. The whole room erupted in cheers! "Fuck you Emmanuel!" Sara hollered as everyone laughed. Okay, maybe she was feeling the Truly's she was drinking. She went over to the snack table and began to fill her plate up. She saw AnnSophie in the corner on her phone.
"Who are you speaking to?" Startled, her friend almost dropped her phone. "What do you mean?"
Erika joined the girls and spoke. "You've been glued to your phone the entire night. I'm surprised you're even here. You don't care about football." Sara didn't tell Erika about AnnSophie's past with Joey. It wasn't her story to tell.  She went back to the question at hand. "So who is it?"
AnnSophie shrugged as she slipped her phone into the pocket of her jeans. "It's my agent, I have to be up early Tuesday to shoot the Ralph Lauren campaign. It was suspicious, her friend was smiling and giggling the entire time. Sara decided to just drop it. "It sucks that you're leaving tomorrow. I know it's selfish of me, but stay an extra week"
AnnSophie laughed. "I wish, but my mom and step-dad are bringing Lexi up to NY Tuesday. I'm going to try to get in contact with George about taking her another time."
This time their other castmate Samira stepped in. "Jesus, I'm sorry he's a damn deadbeat. He was the one all excited about having her, then he cheats on you and doesn't want to be a dad because you broke up with him."
AnnSophie shook her head. "It is what it is. I've decided that if he doesn't shape up by the end of 2023 I want to pursue full custody. I have saved all of the texts and proof that he is an absent father, and that Lexi would be better off without him. I mean all he did was throw her a birthday party and didn't even spend time with her?"
Sara sighed. She felt so bad for her goddaughter. She deserved a dad who would put her first.
Erika cut in. "Well we will see you soon! You will be coming back in April for filming of the show. Everyone will be reunited, speaking of coming back. Sara, Justin knows you're leaving on January 5th? That's less than a month away."
She was stunned, that was out of left field. "I mean obviously we discussed it. We are doing long distance. I won't be gone the whole three months. I will be back at the end of January for the Fenty show. That's what? A week? We could spend time together."
Erika shook her head. "Yes but the Fenty fashion show has press. There's a pre show dinner you must attend. Plus Justin won't be in the playoffs. He probably will be in Oregon, or on a boys trip. I don't see how you can make it work
Maybe it was alcohol, or that her best friend decided to be out of pocket all of the sudden. "Is there something you want to talk about?"
Erika took a sip of her drink. "I'm just saying, you've only been together for what? Six months? And I know you've been working on your issues, but I'm just saying. I don't think it's gonna help that you're far away."
"Well we've matured alot, and now it's none of your business." Sara was clenching her plate, to the point where everything almost spilled over. Erika rebutted. "Well it is our business. We don't want to see you all heartbroken like Harry."
"Who the fuck do yo-"
"TOUCHDOWN!" The guys yelled. Samira grabbed Sara. "Okay guys let's get back to the game!" She didn't realize how much time had passed. They were at the end of the second quarter and Ekeler had managed to get the Chargers in a comfortable lead.
She saw Erika out the corner of her eye sulking in a corner. What the fuck was that about? It was supposed to be a good night and here she was trying to start a fight. Now granted, Sara and Erika had many fights over their twelve years of friendship. But it was always resolved quickly. What was all of the sudden so pressing? Especially when she thought about that incident in New York in front of her fans.
During the end of halftime, Sara approached. "Hey" She stopped when Erika stood up straight. "I don't want to fight, and I apologize for the aggressive tone. But I just want to talk." Erika relaxed. "I'm sorry Sara, I was just upset." Sara was confused. "What is it about me and Justin?" Erika rolled her eyes. "It's not always about you and Justin okay? I'm going through personal issues with my family. But I always listen to your problems."
Sara was stunned. "Erika, I'm sorry that I made you feel that way. We just tell each other everything and that's how it's always been. You know you can just vent to me whenever you feel like it. Just call me up and say you need to talk about your family."
It was what bonded them together freshman year of high school. Erika's family wasn't wealthy, and her dad was too prideful to ask for money, even though the Wozniak's would offer to help them he would always refuse. Sara would always have Erika at her house for dinner, and make sure to give tons of leftovers for her parents and brother. "Erika, is it money or something they need?"
Her friend shook her head. "No, you pay me more than enough to send them some money. It's just my parents are always fighting, when I came home for Thanksgiving things just got worse. I think they might be heading for a divorce."
Sara hugged her friend. "Erika, I'm so sorry. Please don't feel like you can't tell me anything. I've been selfish, so wrapped up in Justin I haven't been talking to much outside of work."
Erika smiled. "I could have just sat you down and told you." Sara nodded. "Well AnnSophie leaves tomorrow. Why don't we have a day Tuesday where we just hang out? No work, no boys, nothing."
Erika smiled and looked at the television behind them. "You're gonna be exhausted after celebrating this win." Sure enough. The guys were hollering as the Chargers made a good field goal. Sara smiled. "I'll make sure to be energized for tomorrow."
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright guys tomorrow is Victory Monday! So enjoy it off! You guys earned it!" The group cheered as everyone began to get ready to go home. Justin was finished with media commitments and needed a nice long shower. He did a quick scrub off but wanted a real long bubble bath with a certain brunette that was waiting for him.
He grabbed all of his things and began to head out of the tunnel to the players lot. Justin walked by some media as he passed. He saw Taylor standing in the corner and began a light jog. His name was called as he kept running.
Quickly he got to the parking lot into his car. Taking a deep breath, he opened his texts.
Proud of you baby cakes.
He smiled and rolled his eyes. Sara was teasing him a few days ago about pet names.
I'll pick up some food, you better be waiting naked for me.
He groaned when he got the text
I'm at Joe's house with the girls. Come pick me up. I rode with Erika
He had punched in the address Sara gave him into his navigation system and began driving.
Justin pulled up to the restaurant first and got their dishes. He got his favorite pasta and a salad and chicken Alfredo with their favorite canoli's. Maybe they can workout tomorrow.
He pulled up outside Joe's house expecting Sara to be waiting for him, however the front door opened and Joe came running out. "Get your fucking ass inside." Justin laughed. "Where's Sara?"
"Inside, I told her to stay there. You thought you could just pick her up and leave? No sir! Not after that performance!"Joe opened the driver's side and pulled Justin out of the car. He let himself be dragged by the shorter, inebriated man into the house. Once he entered, the group of five cheered loudly. He blushed, while Sara laughed and went up to him. Expecting a simple hug from him she squealed as he picked her up and swung her around the room. Planting a big kiss on her. The room hooped and hollered at the couple. Justin tasted the alcohol on her lips and knew she had a few herself.
Once they pulled away Sara smiled. "That was so fucking sexy of you to throw for almost 400yards in front of bitch ass Emmaunel Acho." He threw his head back and laughed loudly, not expecting his girlfriend to be so opinionated.
Before they knew it, Justin had a shot glass in his hand, filled with a clear fluid that would be tequila. Joe shouted "To our social media quarterback taking off to the playoffs!" They all put their glasses in the air and cheered and took their shots. Justin made a face as the liquid burned his throat. Still holding Sara, she whispered into his ear. "So fucking sexy. You know I've always found you hot in uniform."
He growled low so know one would hear him. He spoke Into her lips. "Hmm I'm off tomorrow." He felt a pair of eyes on them, but didn't pay too much attention.  Sara turned around and addressed the group "Okay guys we are taking off"
"NOO! He just got here! We need to celebrate!" Joe started to pour another shot but Alisha stopped him. "You have had enough celebrating. You have a meeting with your agent tomorrow and you're going to have a massive headache." He protested as Alisha dragged him into the bedroom. It was a sign that the party ended, they all thanked the couple for hosting and to do this next week if they didn't go to the game.
Before Sara got into Justin's car she yelled at AnnSophie. "Your flight is in the afternoon. I can take you." Her friend shook her head. "No need actually."
"Oh is Erika taking you?" She looked over at the other girl who was just as confused as Sara. AnnSophie smiled. "I have a driver coming. Enjoy your night and day. I will see you for the Fenty Show!" Sara ran over and hugged her friend. "Call me when you get back to New York, and Lexi's Christmas gifts will be in the mail." She hugged Erika "Don't forget Tuesday."
"Don't worry, I'll have a wheelchair rented and ready. " They both looked back at Justin, who was fidgeting with impatience. Sara laughed and hugged Erika, before going back to Justin’s silver porsche. Justin opened the door for her and helped her in as she was still feeling the drinks. “I have the food so you can sober up.” She reached over the middle to kiss his cheek, Justin smiled. “Baby please sit in your seat.”
“I really want to give you road head so bad.” Her hand went towards his crotch but he grabbed her hand with his larger one and placed a kiss to the back of it. “Not right now, as soon as we get home you can get on your knees.” She felt the wetness in between her legs.
Maybe she was drunk,or super horny, but it seemed like Justin pulled into his driveway faster than he normally would. He got out and grabbed the bags before helping Sara out and heading into his house. Nova hopped off the table (which she wasn’t supposed to be on) and walked up to them. Well Sara because she got on her knees and gathered the cat in her arms “Oh my baby! I missed you!” She kissed her soft fur. Justin rolled his eyes. “Hi Nova, I’m here too." He muttered sarcastically. He could have sworn that the cat glared at him as she was soaking up attention from her favorite human.
Once Nova was satisfied and walked away Justin dragged her over to the kitchen table to eat. They discussed the game, and she went over what happened at the party. Justin smiled as she quoted Joe's antics during key moments and his comments.
"I feel bad ya know? Joe is a good guy. It's just he's very-"
Sara cut him off "boisterous? Obnoxious? Life of the party?" They shared a laugh. "Trust me I know. I've spent 12 hour days with him for four years."
"I'm glad Mike RSVPed for me." He smiled and Sara’s heart skipped a beat. "I'm glad I approached you, cause I know your ass wouldn't have." He laughed. "How long are you going to give me shit for not approaching you?"
"For the rest of my life." Justin liked the sound of that. He liked it a lot. "I'm sure I'll get shit from Mitch too."
Sara was quiet. Justin starred. "What's wrong?"
"My mother texted me. She wants me to come down for Christmas. To Pittsburgh."
Justin's face hardened. "I don't think you should go." He said in an angry voice. Sara was shocked. His tone changed. "I don't want to see you get hurt. After your Aunt and dad said to you."
"My mom says that Aunt Willa is going to the Hamptons with her husband's family. As well as my dad, he will probably be working in his study working on the Market for the new year."
"My family is coming down, including Mitch and his girlfriend. I would like you to meet them, also you're leaving soon after, and I would like to spend as much time as possible." He looked down at his plate. "If you want to go, that's fine, I don't want to stop you. It's just I don't want to see you get hurt."
Tears gathered in her eyes and she got up to sit on his lap. "Baby, I'm not going. I know it upset my mom and sisters, but they understand. I would love to meet Mitch and his girlfriend. Oh my god that reminds me."
She jumped up and out of the extra drawer in the kitchen she grabbed pen and paper. "I got to order gifts and everything. You must tell me what your parents want. Also what about your brothers?" She was scribbling away.
"Also food? Ooh I could bake or make a turkey." Justin got up and kissed her mid ramble about food allergies. "Stop. It will be fine. We don't really exchange gifts, maybe some small trinkets. As for food, My mom is ordering from the place down the road we like. If you want to make something for dessert that's fine." He smiled. "It's a no stress Christmas. That's how we always did it."
She smiled and wrapped her arms around him. "God we are total opposites. Christmas was fun, but everything was a big show you know?"
Justin cleared his throat. "Not to be nosey, but how much money do your parents have?"
She forgot he never looked stuff up about her. "Well I've always disclosed that my parents were wealthy. And that even though my parents were not supportive of me pursuing the arts and acting, I still had a security net if things failed. If I had told my dad I was quitting acting and going to business school he would have paid for everything in full."
She pulled away from Justin and pushed herself up on the counter. "My dad has investments in a few properties and my mom, though she didn't have as much money she got inheritances from family in the past. My parents are comfortable. I don't know how much exactly, but if I had to guess with all of the properties and stuff probably around five million."
His eyes widened. Yeah his parents took vacations and they were able to put them through sports and stuff, he and his brothers were responsible for their colleges and cars. Even then, Mitch refused to let Justin help him with student loans due to medical school. That was just who they were. They didn't want handouts, they wanted to earn everything. Call it a pride thing, but to the Herbert's, there was no better feeling than having that proclamation that you did it all yourself.
Justin tried to think of something to say without being rude. "I'm assuming your sisters have the same personality as you. How did you guys stay so humble? I've met people who are in sports who are so entitled."
Sara shook her head. "My parents always made us earn extra things. We got our basic necessities and then some. But when we got to sixteen we had to get jobs. Yes, we got our own cars once we got our license. But we had to help with insurance, and pay for our own gas. Still we realized that some of our classmates had to get jobs to help families with bills and it was so we could have money for clothes, makeup, and concerts." She laughed.
He shook his head. "I'm sure you guys were constantly fighting over clothes."
"Well the others were. I couldn't," She looked down. "I have hips, and a stomach. Katie told me I took all the tits." He laughed while he squeezed her breasts. "Thank God for that." They kissed and it deepened. She moaned as he put his hand underneath her shirt to feel her breasts. He broke the kiss and she whined, wanting more. "Go to the bedroom, I'll clean all of this up." Referring to the "mess" on the kitchen counter. She rolled her eyes. Justin was such a neat freak that he couldn't just take her right there right now.
As she was going to the bedroom she yawned, the excitement of the day getting to her, along with all the drinks. She washed her makeup off, did her skincare, got naked (he was probably going to rip off her undergarments anyways) and she laid on the bed. Her eyes began to droop instantly and she forced herself to sit up to try to fight it off. When Justin entered the room he noticed immediately how tired she was.
He got undressed, and then slid under the covers. "Baby I thought we were going to-"
Justin kissed her. "Let's get some sleep first." She hummed and got underneath the covers. She cuddled up to Justin and felt something heavy on her back. She laughed when she heard his voice. "Jeez Nova." She smiled up at him. "She's fine. It feels good on my back." It didn't take long for all of them to fall asleep.
Sara woke up to the sound of running. There was ruckus in the next room. She sat up and looked over. Justin was on his back, sound asleep. She reached over and put on her glasses, her eyes still needing to adjust to the pitch black room.
Not too long after she discovered the noise. Nova scurried in and out, looking like a brown fluff ball zooming past her. She ran back in and jumped on the bed before jumping off and running out of the room. She silently giggled before getting out of bed gently so as not to disturb her partner and went to the kitchen. Nova was now running on the couch. Sara smiled at the sight.
"Nova," she whispered. The Bengal glanced at her. "You need to not wake daddy up." She got herself a glass of water and went to sit next to the hyper cat. She looked around and noticed Nova didn't have a cat tree to climb. Well now she knew what to get the feline for Christmas.
Sara opened her laptop on the coffee table and went to Amazon. She didn't have to search long before she found a big cat tree with many shelves and hiding spots. Typing in Justin's address she clicked order, along with a few toys for her.
She checked the status of other orders and saw the delivery date of gifts to her friend and sister's houses. Sara browsed for something for Mark, Holly, Patrick, and Mitch. She was at a loss.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the Tumblr tab opened to the blog she looked up when she first did her research on him. Despite saying she was past that there was a curiosity growing inside of her to look at the blog and see if anything was said about a potential relationship between her and Justin. As she went to click on the blog, Nova jumped on her lap and mowed. Forgetting the task she cuddled the cat. "Aww baby you tired yourself out with your zoomies"
"I forgot she even did that." Sara jumped and turned around to see Justin smiling in the doorway of his room. She laughed. "Why do you always scare me like that? How long have you been up?" He shook his head and took a seat on the couch next to her. Quickly she slammed the laptop closed. He raised an eyebrow at her. "What's the matter?"
She put the computer down. "I was ordering Christmas gifts and I don't want you to see." He smiled and grabbed her to lay her down with him on top of her. Her running her hands through his hair. "I need to cut it." He muttered
As much as she loved long hair she agreed. "Yeah you do." He smiled up at her. "Will you shave it off for me?"
She rolled her eyes. "Absolutely not. Do not get that cadet cut everyone again."
He laughed. "Can I get it short though?"
She thought about it. "Fine, I'll get used to it I guess." He laid his head back down. "I'll miss you so much." He muttered and Sara's heart broke. They only had less than three weeks left. As much as she tried to push it in the back of her mind she did dwell on it. She kissed the top of his head. "I'll facetime you everyday. You will be sick of me. Also I've been thinking." It was something she always wanted to do but being in the public eye with any relationship was a big risk. One wrong move and it could end up ruining both of their lives. But she trusted Justin, and wanted to do this with no one but him.
"We could make a sex tape." He stilled for a minute, and Sara wondered if she should eat her words until he sat up to look at her. "You mean film us having sex?" She nodded. "I think that's the definition of a sex tape. I mean, it would be something for us to enjoy while we are away from each other."
He looked down and she stammered. "I mean we sorta already crossed the line when we had phone sex and sent nudes."
He had forgotten about that. He deleted the picture of Sara's breasts from his phone and made sure to go to his icloud when he came down from post nut clarity. No one should see his love the way he sees her.
"I mean it would be hot, but filming on what?" He didn't want to use their phones.
She smiled.. "an old fashioned cam recorder. We make a cd and keep it in a lockbox." His eyes widened. "Wow, you're prepared" He didn't mean it negatively but he saw her face drop and quickly backtracked. "I just meant that you've been thinking about this." Her face relaxed and she laughed. "Well I'm going to be honest, you're the only one I trust making one with."
His heart soared at those words. They spent the rest of the early morning with pros and cons of making tape. They fell asleep with them still being on the fence.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So how was spending the off day with Justin?" Erika asked as they waited to be called for their facials. As promised, Sara took her friend and assistant out to a nice breakfast and a workout class before getting a mini spa day. "I'm surprised you can walk." Erika laughed, and she joined in. "I mean we did it early in the day. Then some of his friends came over for a small BBQ."
"Look at you being so domestic. Can you believe how much has changed since the pandemic?" It was true, before the pandemic her, Erika, and AnnSophie were constantly out clubbing in LA. When they were in NYC they were joined by Bella and Samira and they would be photographed at the hottest nightclubs. Once Harry and Sara were linked they were out at all the New York and London Hotspots. "Hey not to bring this up." Erika interrupted Sara's thinking. "But I saw Harry was back in Los Angeles."
Her friend was confused. "Didn't he just finish touring for two years? Why isn't he in London?" Erika shrugged. "Beats me. Maybe he is working on something."
Sara tried not to think of Harry and Olivia splitting. She didn't want him back by any means. She was happy, she had Justin. But Harry had contacted her before the breakup, would he come on stronger? And if so, what did he actually want? He was a persistent man. When he wanted something, he had to have it.
Her train of thought broke when they were called and their skin was prepped. They chose a gold caviar facial. To be honest Sara would always see this stuff being done on the Kardashians and would laugh, but it piqued her interest. She also was scheduled for laser hair removal as well. They didn't talk much as the facials and treatments were getting done. Once they were out their skin was glowing and they felt rejuvenated.
They had lunch at a local hot spot while others looked on and photographers snapped away. It was a nice day, and Sara decided to spend the evening with her as well. She gave Justin a heads up since he was going to be at the practice facility. He replied back with 'k' and she knew he wasn't happy but understood she wanted to spend time with her friends.
In the evenings she and Erika made goofy tiktoks and drank while watching shitty reality television while they gossiped. It was a good night.
—----------------------------------------------------------------
SoFi was party central. It was the company’s annual Christmas party, where all of the influences were socializing and taking advantage of the press and blogs. Kristen rolled her eyes at all of them. Granted, she did have a large following considering she was a college athlete. But these people were just treating every single corner like a photoshoot. Even at the damn snack table, she couldn't even reach her hand to grab a cracker because everyone had their phones to record an Instagram video.
Ignoring the glares, she poured a glass of the spiked punch and filled her plate up before she walked away.
And almost into another body.
Kristen's drink spilled a little on her wrist. "Oh my god I'm so sorry!" A soft male voice took a napkin and started dabbing. She smiled. "It's fine, it's only the wrist."
"No seriously, let me get you another drink. Before she could protest she saw him walk over to the table and interrupt all the others still taking video and pictures to fill another glass. He came back over and handed it to her. "It's the least I can do."
Kristen smiled and took it. "Thanks." After a few awkward minutes she decided to start up the conversation. "So you work for the company or?"
"Oh no! I'm a photographer with OK! Magazine.I do all of the events that celebrities and influences go to, and as you can see there is no shortage here." He gestured to the table he just came from. She laughed. "What about you?"
"I do the marketing here at SoFi." He nodded. "How do you like it?"
"I love it! I just moved to Los Angeles from Colorado so it's a culture change."
The man smiled. "Oh I bet, growing up in cold weather to sunny LA? That's a change."
"Oh I'm not from Colorado. I was born and raised in Eugene Oregon. I played sports at the University of Oregon."
The man's interest seemed to grow. "Really? Oh I've been searching Oregon for some project and I've decided to take my boyfriend there on vacation. Is Eugene a good place?"
Kristen was excited, finally someone in this town was interested to know about her home state. "Well to be honest, Eugene isn't a place for tourists unless you want to spend time at the University. I would say more on the outskirts of Portland is your area."
They spoke more about the area, not realizing how much time had passed until David approached. "Hey babe, I'm sorry, I was exploring the arena. You know they let us go on the field!" He wrapped his arm around her. "Actually your boss is looking for you to get everything ready for the charity event."
"Oh Jeez! I forgot about that." She looked at the guy she had been talking to. "It was nice talking to you and thank you for the drink!" She went to leave but then remembered something "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I don't think we got each other's names." She stuck her hand out. "I'm Kristen"
The man smiled and shook it.
"I'm Jack Lange."
A.N. Hey I said I’d get them through the Holiday’s. You all remember Jack?

McNabb didn't "choke" in the Superbowl. And give Andy a break about mismanaging the clock when he did everything else he possibly could to coach the Avengers into nearly defeating Thanos without any deus ex machina bull shit.
Just pure gumption and genius coaching. But nothing beats Brady and Bellichek when Gronk and Brady are in sync. Even as a fucking AARP member with the fucking Tampa Bay Rays he's still formidable and a regular contender for the Superbowl today.
In the 90's The trio was an unstoppable force that just plowed up and down the field and every possession ended in a TD.
The 2004 Eagles kept up with Brady.
And that hall of fame defense fucked him up like the spirit of Reggie White possessed them. They made him cry and throw a tantrum and got dirt on his uniform. And turf in his face mask. Hitting and hurrying Brady almost every down against the very best offensive line money and guaranteed Superbowl rings can buy.
And fucking Brady just got even better.
And yet. And yet with Terrell Owens on a broken leg playing half speed yet doing outrageous plays and a nervous McNabb playing extremely competently using his legs and working well with Westbrook doing his magic and Owens showboating, Andy Reid almost did it. He almost got his offense to keep up with Brady and slow Brady down enough to give Donovan a chance to win.
But McNab let the pressure get to him at the end and stopped having fun. And began to hesitate and second guess instead of just instinctively having fun and playing at his usual superhuman level.
He just got nervous. Probably for the first time in his life. A real chance to beat Brady! And win the Superbowl for Philly at last! With his favorite teammates and coach Andy Reid! (Andy Reid is what Joe Paterno pretended to be.)
Donovan McNabb got nervous because only Tom Brady wouldn't get nervous at the thought of facing Brady let alone hoping to beat him in the Superbowl when he was playing top of his game. So Donovan "choked" and made some shit plays at the end there. But up till then he had danced up and down the field vs the Patriots defense and kept up with Brady blow for blow. McNabb was beautiful that day.
Andy Reid was on his game too and against all odds almost lead the Avengers to victory against Brady.
But Brady and Bellicheck with Gronk on his game is absolutely invincible. Just an unstoppable force where you are hoping for a failed 1st down run and and short second to make for a long third and then some kind of miracle stop or on third and long. The best defense was to try and draw fouls. Because you can't stop the guy. You just have to slow him down and hope for one or pray for two bad throws this 3rd down.
Like, third and thirty five was difficult but doable most possessions.
Eagles actually hit that smug father fucker a whole bunch on his way up and down the field. It didn't stop him. But it was hella fun to watch as my team almost beat Brady in his prime, but nothing could ever beat Brady in his prime. Even on his bad days he was nothing short of perfect and intelligent and creative and instinctual that borders on godlike.
I hate his guts and I just don't know why. He seems hella nice. He's too good looking and dates a model but good for him on all of that. I'm happy to see decent guys win the lottery. But I still don't like him. Such is life. I wish him well in everything but football. Get sacked Brady.
But yeah, no body, no matter how well prepared, trained and superhuman can be perfect for the entire Superbowl. You are going to lose some possessions without having scored.
Tumblr media
The Eagles were a true Super Bowl team. Any other decade they would have won any Super Bowl against any team outside of the 2000's Patriots. They made every offensive line in the NFL look silly and picked off future hall of famers every other down.
The Lombardi Trophy belonged to Brady back then. Pure and simple. It was just who is going to lose spectacularly in the Super Bowl after playing big fish in a small pond till now.
Eagles almost beat Brady in his prime, but nothing can keep up with a demigod.
I submit that the 2004 Eagles were a feat of genius by Andy
He was able to cobble together a really good team around his star QB and other key players who are all hall of famers now. And I don't know how he snatched up Owens. Owens was amazing. He just had a big mouth and was a showboat. He backed up every boast too and made the greatest future hall of famer DBs miss every single time. And everyone loved it. Except the fucking racist NFL.
Andy managed to cobble together this amazing 2004 Eagles team and got them working together even though they didn't like each other at first and help them run together so well that he almost took this army of reject NFL superheroes up against Thanos and won.
He had a Lawful Good Deadpool instead of Captain America leading the charge. And Neutral Good Don't Give A Fuck Decent Guy Deadpool With a sharpie up his sleeve carving up the captains of Thanos. And Mysteriously unknown preternatural undersized Black Panther Westbrook conducting acrobatic feats y'all wouldn't believe today. Even still that man's shit was like watching Black Panther dance around dealing broken ankles and first downs out of third and long every time McNabb got in trouble.
Even the Avengers can't beat 2000s Brady.
Give McNabb and Andy Reid their due respect. They almost did the impossible together. Don't give them such trash about minor little lapses in perfection. You aren't the God of Noah.
You are an Eagles Fan! And you cheered through fucking Buddy Ryan's bullshit. Andy Reid and McNabb almost took down Brady in his prime! You should celebrate that team!

Greg Norman is worse version of Joe Lombardi. It would be hard to find someone worse for a QB like Justin. I genuinely don’t understand Harbaugh hiring him after spending all last week telling the media he wanted to maximize Justin’s talents. This is the exact opposite. Norman’s passing concepts aren’t just bad; they’re predictable & outdated. I hope he’s better than his history would indicate, but you now, if the offense goes south, Justin will be the one being blamed.
Yeah, I'm not thrilled with him as OC if that's his role. I don't think he's a good fit for Justin at all and I'm pretty confused as to what Harbaugh's logic is in bringing him on in that capacity (if he is OC).
Truthfully, if the offense is rubbish due to Roman's play calling, Justin will be blamed either way by certain people. It's crap but some people just don't like Justin for whatever reason and will blame him for the Chargers failings, regardless of whether it's deserved or not.
