Jackie decided to show Nori the city and one of the memorials they had build for him.
Nori: Isn't that disrespectful?
Jackie: Ya realise that its a memorial for me, right? Don't worry chiquita, its cool.
The trust she puts on him is rooted in the long shared nights under naked skies, it is looped between the countless cups of coffee and shots of spirits around the same table, the secrets hushed in the godless hours, the tears he saw and didn’t speak of, the things he heard and never spilled, the deeds he signed for her, paid with the high price of sweat and blood.
Shinjiham is cute when it’s romantic but tbh I think i vastly prefer the idea of them being best friends instead. Like, neither of them really saw it coming and weren’t really looking to get another best friend (Shinji has Akihiko, Kotone has Junpei and Yukari respectively) but it happens anyway. Kotone takes a liking to Shinji much faster than she does anyone else and I’d say a big reason is just the fact that he’s so reserved that it allows Kotone to do most of the talking while he just listens and they love this arrangement cuz Kotone doesn’t get to talk about her own interests very much. Though I think some of her needs to talk to Shinji stems from this insecurity that he isn’t happy in the group and she has this people pleasing problem and wants everyone to be happy so she makes a much bigger effort to talk to Shinji. And it’s very unfortunate because Shinji intentionally acts cold and distant because he doesn’t want to form any attachments because he wants to die soon, but aaaaaaaagh dammit this girl just keeps talking to him and being sweet and encouraging him to engage in his interests and share them with the others and he just can’t seem to say no when she’s got those damn puppy eyes. And Kotone is just able to get him out of his shell by being persistent but not in an overwhelming way, she’s very cheerful and supportive of him. And Shinji is able to offer her support by encouraging her to talk about herself and by making sure she’s taking care of herself. They just click really well and make such a positive dent in each other’s lives and it’s all about basic acts of kindness going a long way you know?
i have too many thoughts on the deleted jackienat scene for a girl who's supposed to be enjoying her birthday lol. i think at the root of it all, it's highly likely that when the actresses breathed life into the characters, and scenes got improvised, some things just stopped making sense for characters to do. including good things, like with jackie's 'i love you' to shauna! and i think this is the case for natalie looking at jackie with hatred before leaving her out in the cold. maybe at one point in her early stages of characterization it made sense, but clearly the people on the show didn't think that way anymore at some point, hence the cut. also ngl people taking this deleted scene, which for all we know didn't even make it into the final script, as some sort of 'gotchu' for jackienat enjoyers ( romantic or otherwise ) is weird as hell to me. like, it was removed for a reason.
i know it's a gameplay mechanic but. do you think jackie took it upon himself to write the journal entries for v/reminders of what they have to do because he knows how forgetful they can be
ok bunny spit this one at me while I was thinking about milkshakes and she was looking at Dylan Larkin's instastories but now I've had several hours to process so:
probably run similar-ish to only 1 u - really quick turnaround, encouraging shorter fills, goes the month of August or a start early August/end mid-September (celebrating end of off season!). stipulations are that you can only prompt and fill with people who have been verifiably to the Hughes bros Michigan lake house (I would need to crowdsource this list). basically a prompt meme around the Quinn and Jack Hughes's very small, tight, and EXTREMELY specific web of relationships set in one specific setting. sound off??
the clever way they set up izzy the unreliable narrator is just… such good writing
i started making a complete list of “things other people agree izzy is good at” and “things only izzy says he’s good at” for brain distractions and on that first list is swordfighting
the second list is …everything else, i truly do find this little fucker so fun on a narrative level. he’s the textbook unreliable narrator: literally everything he says ends up directly contradicted by the people in question or the action, but he swaggers around yelling his version of events loudest! (and weirdest, lmfao.)
and honestly on a deeper level it makes us as an audience look at how we process things people tell us vs things people show us, and how those are often very much at odds.
the writing on this show is ridiculously good, you know?
Pics I took as a cover art for Chapter 12 of "Bringing back the sun"
I had a realy hard time to decide which I will take. But I think I'll go with the one in which Nori doesen't look that happy.
The reason for it is that its more fitting of what happens in this chapter and that that you can read the Arasaka letters so good in the troll. It just makes more sense. If you read the chapter, you might understand.
But I really love the from above shots as well. The colors and the angle.

here's. a thing. to consider. van was originally gonna die in the wolf attack i think?? cause i know they just kept the chatacter cause they liked liv that much (meaning that would be a wilderness death and an s1 death). and i gotta ask. like completely honestly and genuinely how interesting would van as a character be if she did die during wolf attack
Ok no one asked but I've been tempted to make Jackie and Olivia stalien designs since I've been working on some new icons for the eternal gales stalien kiddos and it's been making me also think abt how disastrous it would be if they were in the same stalien society that the main cast are from because dear god would they either die instantly or make things so much worse. Even if they did get lucky enough to be able to be remotely near a position to found a stalien version of gravitas, no way in hell they'd be able to get far enough to even begin their own morally corrupt downfall before one of the other big companies forcibly assimilated gravitas into their own corporations and do the same shit but way WAY worse. Even if Jackie Was in a position to eventually climb the ladder enough to get to a more ceo position shed probably end up painting a target on her back way before she could get there, as her and Olivia's whole infinite power research would be very much unwanted by most of the ceo elders. Oh and Olivia would be fucked even beyond that because she's a biologist lol so at best she's going to be forced to drop every last one of her morals and barely scrape by
