Erika’s Publicist Was Behind Kathy Leaks!
Tumblr media
In this week’s episode, Erika Girardi introduced us to her new publicist and revealed that she was no longer working with Jack Ketsoyan.
In the unseen footage from an episode last season we could see Kyle Richards accusing someone in Erika’s team of being behind the leaks about Kathy Hilton.
Kyle went on to say that Kathy had hired someone to investigate the leaks to the press, and they had found out that it was none other than Erika’s publicist, Jack.
When Kyle had confronted Erika in the episode, Erika claimed that she didn’t know who to leak information to the press, which I didn’t believe for a second.
It was obvious that the leaks were coming from either Erika or Lisa Rinna, as they were thick as thieves and trying to change the narrative on the show.
Instead of focusing on Erika’s bad behaviour amid the lawsuit scandal, they wanted the group to focus on Kathy’s bad behaviour.
Erika even said that if they’re going to punish her for her behaviour, then they should punish Kathy too.
It was obvious what she thought about the situation.
But she asked Kyle to give her all the information they had from the investigation, and now, she’s no longer working with Jack.
Is she doing damage control? She said that she still loved him, so he might not have leaked it without her consent.
Was he forced to sacrifice himself for the cause?
“We’re still friends. We’re just not in business together.”
They also showed the scene where Lisa had told Dorit Kemsley about Kathy’s meltdown in Aspen, and we can see Jack lurking in the background.
Jack, Mickey and Laia were listening to their conversation, and they were happy about the gang up that was orchestrated against Kathy.
“Good, it needs to.”
There’s no doubt in my mind that that was done to deflect the attention away from Erika, and onto Kathy’s poor behaviour.
I’ve never doubted that Kathy had said some crazy things.
But I didn’t like that she was simply a means to an end for Lisa and Erika.

The above is not my own, both quotes are from the person on LSA, shout-out to them for finding and sharing these two articles. I came across what the font stated and thought it was very interesting. LSA shares stuff from Tumblr all the time and I’m in both, so it’s even I hope. 😅 LSA please don’t be mad.
Anyway, The articles reminded me when Sophia mentioned something could come out and embarrass them or reveal this shitshow (feel free to let me know if I misspoke of what you previously mentioned Sophia. ☺️) and it seems more industry people with actual knowledge are getting more comfortable talking about things that most of the general population aren’t aware of or believe to be fabricated by angry female fandoms. Thought I’d share. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing with us. As far as I remember the Metro article has been shared here. I have also shared it before deactivation :)
Yes, I have said that something in the upcoming days would be revealed about this situation that will make it clear how fake everything is and it could be embarrassing. Let's see what happens :)

Hello! So for a couple of days my feed was filled with videos from Super Bowl and the afterparty and I was like, I just can't believe it can be faked like that. She even posted a TikTok with him. It seems to me that in her world this is just a different level of relationship. So I just thought that there’s no way this is not true and then I came across a video where Matty says: “this show is about what you should or shouldn’t believe that you see on the screen.” I was just 😑 and it got me thinking again. One side of me believes that this simply cannot be faked, while the other begins to think after such conversations. But Matty is Matty and he could only mean his show and this thought slipped through very quickly and I don’t think it will reach the general audience. But it's funny because I look at the video of Taylor and Travis kissing and I think, well, everything should be clear, shouldn't it? And then there this little thought on my mind that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on the screen and I don’t even know what to believe anymore…
Also I can’t understand why she needs this, she can live a great life without any plans to prove something to someone in this way
Hi anon! First and foremost, if you see Taylor with her new partner and see or feel that nothing is amiss, that's understandable! It's perhaps even counterintuitive to see a couple kissing on television and think it's fake at first glance. For me, it's less about what I directly see, and more about how what I'm seeing is incongruent with what I have learned about Taylor Swift.
While I've always enjoyed pop music, I never really got "wonderstruck" with a pop star quite like this (at least not since I was a kid!) Even when I'm utterly obsessed with a band or singer, chances are good that I don't know the name of their PR agent, you know? lol However… Taylor is not just a musician. She's a phenomenon. She's not simply writing albums and touring, she's building mystique and self-mythologizing a whole universe of lore. Each fan is entranced by a different facet of Taylor Swift - be it the music, the spectacle, the celebrity, fashion, easter eggs, lore, muses, or the mystery!
"We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them they have chosen to show us."
The Reputation prologue is bookended with this quote! That is how important the message is, that she both opens and closes the prologue with this quote. I must stress: I do not claim to know anything about Taylor Swift. Please understand that when I theorize, it's based on my own personal subjective knowledge of human nature or what motivates us, and I apply that to what I see and hear (of course, I think everyone does this, it's just good to acknowledge!)
You said: "One side of me believes that this simply cannot be faked"
Again, bear in mind that Taylor Swift is a celebrity with access to more resources at her disposal than even other celebrities. If she wanted to create a "simulated" version of her life to throw people off the scent of her real personal life, I don't see why she wouldn't or couldn't (the greatest of luxuries is your secrets…) PR relationships are definitely a real thing that celebrities engage in for a variety of reasons. Here is an interesting list with some more insight (of course, this is BuzzFeed so take it with a huge grain of salt). Speaking of which, Taylor's current partner's PR agent has teamed up with Jack Ketsoyan, who openly admits to setting up "fake romances" between celebrities. If you can stomach it, the next time you see the PDA videos from the field or the club, try looking through the comments. I suspect you'll see a lot of people who aren't buying it (here's a good tweet about how these two were mic'd up! lol) Here's some additional insight into Taylor's current relationship with some stats that might shed light on the "why" of it all.
If you want to hear my guess as to what all the football stuff is about, well, I'll start off with two of my favorite Taylor quotes:
"People often greatly underestimate me on how much I'll inconvenience myself to prove a point."
and:
"Having the world treat my love life like a spectator sport in which I lose every single game was not a great way to date in my teens and twenties, but it taught me to protect my private life fiercely."
Obviously, Taylor doesn't need the money. And frankly, the NFL does not need nor deserve any additional female fans, considering women are excluded (unless they'd like to strip down and get objectified as cheerleaders, I guess). So, what is she up to? Well, everyone loves to call her "Mother" and I think she's about to teach us all a lesson - likely about media literacy and how much she's had to perform her celebrity persona and keep the media attention away from her real life, whatever that may be. I am one of the believers that she's intentionally oversaturating the market to recreate conditions appropriate to launch Reputation… Others think that idea is absolutely too wild or too "absurd" (fair lol)
I think the simplest explanation that makes sense to me is that she and Matty only ever intended to be public for one blissful month so that he could finally attend her shows as her boyfriend. But, she didn't want the heat of her fans on his back when he went on to do SATVB. Matty did not need cruel Swifties making fun of Peanut, for instance. That's a super vulnerable thing he's doing each night his band performs. So, what would get the most heat off of each other's backs? New relationships, but especially ones that fans would love because they were the manifestation of pre-existing fandom memes from circa 2020:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Matty… if his comments have anything to do with what's going on with his or Taylor's respective "relationships" (and I think they do), then they're not really meant to reach a wider or more general audience (yet). But the fact that The 1975 are (maybe) about to go on hiatus, yet Matty predicted The 1975 would be the most important band of the 2020's… might mean that he and the boys have some kind of trick up their sleeve! Perhaps their collaboration with Brad Troemel, who helped co-write SATVB, which ends March 24th, I think (unless more dates have been added). If you're familiar at all with the kayfabe theory, it comes directly from Brad Troemel, himself. I'll just say that it's highly interesting to me that SATVB should kick off in September, the same month as Matty and Taylor's new relationships! (If you're interested in a good rabbit hole, I'd check out my tagged posts on Brad).
Anon, please know it's okay if you don't know what to believe! Sometimes I don't know, either. As you might've guessed, I'm a big supporter of Taylor and Matty together. Based on all I've seen and heard, my deductive reasoning tells me they will be endgame and that we will get back there eventually. So, obviously, I'm not thrilled to watch the current turn of events, either… but they're strange enough that I also can't look away lol I am compelled to keep looking into why things aren't adding up, and these searches have been, and continue to be, fruitful. But even if I'm wrong and endgame doesn't end up happening, then I have to trust that they know what's best for themselves better than I do! And regardless of what Taylor or Matty decide to do in their personal (or simulated?) lives… they've both reeled me in as a dedicated fan, completely independent from whatever relationship they may or may not have with each other or other people.
In the meantime, I'm gonna keep studying their music, following their live shows, and filling this place with fun clips, connections, and edits! Even if they're truly over for now, or heaven forbid - forever, I'm still interested in archiving this unlikely yet inspiring love story of reconnection (especially when many big Taylor sources refuse to acknowledge him - like here, where they refuse to name whose concert she debuted Anti-Hero at, or this one, where they cropped him out of a photo from his own damned tour zine! lol So needlessly petty...)
Perhaps this desire to archive all things "Tatty" acts almost like a shield from current events for me lol Here's something I'll suggest if you want some Tatty-related reassurance: take a scroll through my blog... any time you see a tag that begins with "overlap:", click on that to see how that topic relates to both Taylor and Matty. Some of them are reaches! Some are silly. Some just show how similar they are. Others are... compelling!
Lastly, what I can also suggest is that, if social media is upsetting you, it might be nice to take a small break! I strongly encourage everyone on the internet to use the block and mute buttons as often as needed, and to mute any names or keywords you aren't interested in seeing content for. Curate your own experience! Your brain and your heart will thank you for it, I promise!
Hope any of that helped lol Thanks for the ask! 🤍

The Miami-Dade County Corrections Department recognized a man for what he is.
Officials from the Miami-Dade County department of Corrections and Rehabilitation are refuting viral claims that a popular trans-identified YouTuber was held in a “men’s unit.”
Nikita Dragun, born Nguyen, was arrested on November 7 after causing a scene at The Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach. Police officers were allegedly called to the hotel just after 6 p.m.
When they arrived, hotel security told police officers that Dragun had been “causing a disturbance and being extremely disorderly,” including “walking around the pool area unclothed.” When hotel staff confronted him about his behavior, Dragun reportedly threw a glass of water at a hotel staffer.
When police officers arrived at Dragun’s hotel room, he first attempted to barricade himself inside the room. He opened the door only to throw water on police before slamming the door once again. He was arrested after the incident and taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
The following day, Dragun appeared in bond court via video link. Dragun faces a felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, and a municipal ordinance violation of battery.
During the hearing, Dragun asked Judge Mindy Glazer whether he had to remain in a “men’s unit” in the jail.
Tumblr media
“I don’t make the rules up there,” Glazer replied. Video of the exchange was posted on social media and quickly went viral as people expressed concerns for Dragun’s safety, and anger that his sex was recorded as male on the booking.
Dragun’s bond was set at
$2,000 and he has since been released. His publicist, Jack Ketsoyan, released a statement following his release.
“The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous,” Ketsoyan wrote.
“This decision made by the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department directly violates their protocol, which mandates that transgender inmates are classified and housed based on safety needs and gender identity. Nikita has been released and is now safe. Thank you for respecting her privacy during this time.”
However, Miami-Dade County Corrections has come out and refuted the viral claims, asserting that Dragun “never made it beyond the booking process” prior to release.
“She was never placed in a men’s unit,” Miami-Dade Corrections spokesperson Juan Diasgranados said in a statement, using feminine pronouns to refer to Dragun. “All inmates undergoing our intake process remain in an open seating (open booking) area, in the presence of correctional staff.”
Tumblr media
The open booking area Diasgranados is referring to is likely the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Lobby, where most inmate triage occurs at the Turner-Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The Lobby is an open area where numerous correctional staff are present and working in different capacities through processing inmates. The arresting officers typically remain with the inmates until they are booked.
In his statement, Diasgranados also said that Dragun was placed in a holding cell by himself due to his “high-profile status” before being released, and that he was escorted by an “LGBTQ officer” throughout his time there.
“Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department (MDCR) is committed to protecting the rights of the transgender community and of all LGBTQ people,” the statement continued.
“MDCR has procedures in place for the appropriate intake, housing, and medical needs of transgender inmates, and we are committed to ensuring that all inmates in our custody, including transgender persons, are treated appropriately throughout our intake, classification and placement process.”
Despite activist claims to the contrary, the Turner-Guilford Knight Correctional Center is a prison which houses both male and female inmates moving through various stages of the custody process. Local crime news out of Miami-Dade county shows there are female inmates currently incarcerated at the facility.
The news of Dragun’s custody went viral on social media this week after a number of accounts sympathetically repeated the claims Dragun had been incarcerated in a “men’s unit,” labeling it a “violation” of human rights.
“Nikita Dragun is one of the most well known trans women in the world; if this can happen to her, it can happen to any of us. Trans women are women and belong in women’s spaces. This is absolutely horrific and should be considered cruel and unusual punishment,” trans-identified male YouTuber Samantha Lux wrote.
One tweet condemning Dragun’s placement wracked up over 130,000 ‘likes’ on Twitter in just 48 hours.
Tumblr media
While the statement from Miami-Dade County clarified that Dragun was not held in a “men’s unit,” prior to the release of that information, many women’s rights advocates on Twitter noted that Dragun is a biological male, and so his placement in a men’s unit would not have been out-of-line in the event it had occurred.
A vicious debate broke out between trans activists and feminist on social media over the issue, with some transgender Twitter users declaring that “if you support trans women jailed with other men you support rape, full stop.”
Tumblr media
While many correctional departments do not collect or release information on inmate gender identity, those which do consistently show that trans-identified male inmates are significantly more likely to be incarcerated for sexual offenses than their non-transgender counterparts.
According to Keep Prisons Single Sex, an advocacy group for incarcerated women, almost 50% of male federal inmates who identify as transgender are in custody for sex offenses. This is compared to just 11% of the non-trans male inmate population.
In California, just over one-third of male inmates seeking transfer to women’s prisons on the basis of transgender identity are registered sex offenders.
Over the past year, there has been a notable wave of disturbing cases related to trans-identified male inmates with histories of extreme violence towards women and children being transferred to women’s correctional facilities across the United States.
In April, Reduxx reported that a male inmate serving a 50-year sentence for the brutal murder of an immigrant woman had been moved to New Jersey’s only women’s correctional facility, Edna Mahan, after declaring a transgender identity.
Perry Cerf, 39, was arrested for the rape and murder of 47-year-old Ecuadorian immigrant Flor Andrade in 2002. Cerf, who now goes by the name Michelle Hel-loki Angelina, boasted about beating Andrade to death, kicking her until her “head was on backwards.” He also stated he had drank the woman’s blood.
Cerf is not an isolated case in New Jersey. There are multiple violent trans-identified male inmates currently housed at Edna Mahan. Female inmates in the facility, especially those with a history of being victims of sexual abuse, have come forward to express fear and anxiety over being incarcerated with males.
Tumblr media
In Washington, there are at least two trans-identified males who committed acts of femicide serving their sentences in the state’s female correctional facility.
Donna Perry, a serial killer who murdered three prostituted women prior to identifying as transgender was recently transferred to the Washington Women’s Correctional Center, while Nonnie Lotusflower is serving a 10-year sentence at the same institution for the brutal rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl.
Despite trans activist claims to the contrary, the presence of trans-identified males in women’s correctional facilities has resulted in multiple cases of sexual violence against incarcerated women across the United States.
In April, a trans-identified male inmate on Rikers Island was convicted of raping a female prisoner while in the women’s section of the New York prison. One month later, a source at the Central California Women’s Facility exclusively reported to Reduxx that a transgender transfer had allegedly sexually assaulted an intoxicated female inmate before threatening other women with rape.
Four female inmates in California are in the process of suing the state’s correctional body over abuses they suffered at the hands of trans-identified male transfers. One plaintiff in the suit, Krystal Gonzales, reported she had been sexually assaulted by a trans-identified male who had been placed in her cell.
By Shay Woulahan Shay is a writer and social media content creator for Reduxx. She is a proud lesbian activist and feminist who lives in Northern Ireland with her partner and their four-legged, fluffy friends.

Influencer Nikita Dragun was released from jail in Miami on Wednesday, according to her representative and Miami-Dade County criminal justice records. Dragun, 26, was arrested Monday at a hotel and charged with felony assault of a police officer.
Dragun, who is transgender, is well-known online for content about her transition, beauty and style. She has 27 million followers across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
Dragun’s representative said that Dragun was placed in a men's unit while in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
“The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous,” Jack Ketsoyan of Full Scope Public Relations said in a statement.
“This decision made by the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department directly violates their protocol, which mandates that transgender inmates are classified and housed based on safety needs and gender identity,” Ketsoyan said. “Nikita has been released and is now safe. Thank you for respecting her privacy during this time.”
The Corrections and Rehabilitation Department of Miami-Dade County didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Dragun was released on recognizance, Miami-Dade County’s records said, meaning she did not have to post bail. Her arraignment hearing in Miami is scheduled for Dec. 7.
The Miami-Dade Police Department previously provided NBC News with an arrest affidavit from Monday that said Dragun swung an open water bottle toward police officers and a hotel security guard, “causing the water to hit and spill on” the guard and an officer. Dragun was also charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor disorderly conduct after she threw water on a separate hotel staffer and walked around the hotel’s pool area “unclothed,” according to the affidavit.
A 2020 NBC News investigation found that most transgender individuals are jailed according to the sex they were assigned at birth, putting them at risk of rape, sexual assault and abuse.
In the affidavit, the department said Dragun “appears as a female but would like to be recognized as a male.” The affidavit lists Dragun as male and uses the pronouns “he” and “him” in the report. In Dragun’s inmate profile from the correction center, where she was held, she is also listed as male. When referring to herself online, Dragun has used “she” and “her” pronouns since beginning her transition in 2015.

Erika Jayne Publicist Eavesdrops on Kathy Speak
A scene minimize from U.S. episodes of The Actual Housewives of Beverly Hills has seemingly added gas to the fireplace concerning Kyle Richards‘ declare of Erika Jayne‘s publicist supposedly being behind a string of leaked tales about Kathy Hilton‘s meltdown in Aspen. In a clip from worldwide episodes that was lately shared on TikTok, Erika’s publicist, Jack Ketsoyan, and different members of Erika’s group, together with her artistic director Mikey Minden and her assistant Laia, are caught listening in on a dialog Lisa Rinna and Dorit Kemsley have been having about Kathy’s antics at Erika’s hair extension launch. “The *dwell* episode that U.S. viewers noticed did *not* embody the flashback scene of Erika’s publicist and group watching and reacting to Rinna and Dorit speaking about Aspen. It was [included] in next-day [episodes],” the Sarah Galli instructed her followers on Instagram, together with the telling clip. “It was not part of the dwell [episode]. Which is why most U.S.-based content material creators didn’t point out it final night time/this am. As a result of these of us who watched dwell within the U.S. final night time had no thought it existed.” Within the clip, after Kyle is seen telling Erika that her sister discovered by an investigation that her publicist had supposedly leaked the detrimental tales about Kathy as Erika demanded to see what proof she had, viewers have been met with a flashback second from Erika’s hair occasion. “I’ve at all times actually cared about Kathy and so the issues that she stated…” Lisa had begun. “Hear, I noticed Kathy. I’ve by no means seen her that approach. I stated this to her, ‘I’ve not been with you sufficient that I’d see one thing like that however you weren’t your self,’” Dorit revealed. In the meantime, Mikey was heard within the background telling Erika’s fellow group members, “It’s happening over right here.” “Good. It must,” Laia replied. Then, as they stood inside earshot of the dialog, Jack confirmed, “I’m listening to what’s occurring behind me.” Though Kyle urged she had incriminating proof in opposition to Erika, Erika reasoned that it wouldn’t have been in his finest curiosity for Jack to leak the tales. “I do know that Nicky and I share a publicist so I don’t suppose it could be in his finest curiosity to do one thing like that to his shopper,” she stated on the finale. Erika then added in a confessional, “How handy to accuse my publicist of press leaks. You already know what? Your sister made an a– out of herself in public and everybody noticed it. It’s actually disappointing to see Kyle flip this again on me.” “Let’s be trustworthy: She’s afraid of Kathy. She’s afraid of what she’ll do to her,” she added. The Actual Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 reunion begins subsequent Wednesday, October 12, at 8/7c on Bravo. Originally published at Sacramento News Journal

hi buzz, this is the “PR anon” from before! i really feel sort of weird leaving another message bc i do not plan on leaving any more, but since some people had questions about what i said, i guess i will try to clear it up. i just want to reiterate that this is only my experience from working as a PR assistant for mainly C-list to A-list talent (actors) in los angeles. if people had different experiences or were at higher levels than me, maybe they’d have different things to say. regarding “i’ve never seen a PR relationship that involved a contract” - thats the truth. i’ve never seen or heard of a legal contract that explicitly established a “fake romantic relationship” and all that entails. i’ve seen contracts where two parties or multiple parties agree to promote each other on social media or through public appearances, interview shoutouts, etc. but never anything to the lengths of what some of these folks are insisting (marriages, pregnancies, living with each other, PDA, etc. i don’t even think that’s legal). like i said before, yes “fake dating” does happen but i stand by what i said in that these relationships are typically short-lived and require very little of the talent involved (meaning we definitely wouldn’t be forcing people to fly across the country for pap walks that generate very little buzz or encouraging unrelated parties to like specific posts on social media... i don’t even understand how we would possibly monitor and enforce all that). these are usually manufactured when two people are repped by pubs at the same firm. but in my experience that is much less common than the alternative, which is that two people become naturally involved in some sort of relationship, and then a conscious decision is made to exploit that relationship to the media. maybe two actors will start hooking up on set, and we will leak this info to the press, and then they’ll stop hooking up but we’ll keep the narrative going until the movie comes out. there are also instances where two people will be set up because of their respective PR needs/status, but then they will genuinely go on to become friends or date for a while. there is a common misconception that PR = fake when it’s much more complex than that. a good recent example of this is ben affleck and ana de armas. that was a real relationship that was exploited to the media in order to boost her name reco and rehabilitate his image. but it doesn’t mean the relationship itself was false. the point is, most of these “PR relationships” are rooted in something real. and to specifically respond to the person who mentioned other publicists admitting to PR relationships having long term contracts, i’d be curious to know if they are referring to Jack Ketsoyan, who is a former publicist who socializes with reality tv stars (different arena entirely) and exaggerates his status as an “insider” in order to sell fictional books about (you guessed it) fake relationships. again, i have never had a client quite as famous as taylor swift so maybe in her world there *are* hundreds of NDAs locked in a vault somewhere that detail a history of top secret affairs and the multiple fake relationships manufactured to avert suspicion. what i’m saying is, i highly HIGHLY doubt it. it would certainly be the only instance i have ever heard about. ok anyway, thank you for humoring me again while i ramble, and i hope this cleared some things up for people. best of luck buzz!

The name of the source is Jack Ketsoyan, he set up two PR relationships himself. If you would try to compare this to your favourite Hollywood couple, you might be surprised of the outcome. I wish you all the best while reading this and if you have any questions/suggestions please do not hesitate to ask. Enjoy! :)
This is the link of the podcast about the PR relationships (skip to 5.40). I will make a little summary of the very important things Jack said. There is also another man who is speaking about this subject. His name is Christopher and he is a lawyer who has worked with cases like these for a long time.
(Please note that I am in no way hating on anyone. I have a strong dislike for all ‘’beards’’, but what they do with their lives is their responsibility. Therefore I mean no harm to any of these people. It would be very sad if any of these people would do it because they needed money for their families. If that was the case I would truly feel sorry for them, but the thing is they want to become famous by dating someone else who put his/her hard work in his/her career. That it just not fair. There are plenty of ways to become famous by dedication, hard work and staying yourself.)
I want to give compliments to the lovely @Totallylost4you on twitter. She made me aware of the podcast.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-’’To hide the artist’s sexuality; boosting of the careers.’’ --> (Louis, Harry, Zayn, Liam and Niall. Also, Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevigne and Taylor Swift) -->
‘’It is more common on the male side than on the female side. There are certain celebrities who were, back in the day, in the closet and it was not okay to be out. We live in a completely different time nowadays, these days being gay is okay. So back in the day that was the biggest secret, it was a big taboo, if a certain high profiled male, the heartthrob is all of a sudden gay, they were not going to get the bigger roles anymore. They were going to be type casted, so that was the big way of hiding things. Them hiding their sexuality was dating a female who would keep them in the limelight basically and cover it up.’’  [about closeting] ‘’Times have changed, it still happens, but a lot has changed.’’ --> There are still people who would not like attending a Harry Styles (the heartthrob) concert when he comes out as gay.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-’’To be able to sell the hype of it.’’ --> (Whenever a picture of Taylor and Tom or Louis and Eleanor comes out, people are quick to retweet, post and talk about what happened. Within no time the pictures have traveled through the internet. Which automatically means that a lot of people have seen it. All of this gives the label/couple/artist attention and money. --> Whether it is bad attention or good attention, attention means money.) a few examples of these couples are also: Haylor, Zigi and Elounor.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-’’To sell tickets to concerts or movies.’’ --> 1D world tours and solo tours. That is also why beards like Camille Rowe, Eleanor Calder and Maya Henry attend their concerts. As for movies think about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (who is gay) fake dating, moments after Twilight came out. Think about 1D bringing their fake girlfriends to the world premiere and Zayn and Perrie getting engaged a second after. The purpose of these events are attention. Sweethearts, whenever people go to these shows/movies all they will focus on is 1D and their ‘girlfriends’. Photos will spread faster than ever and people will talk about how ‘real’ they are. Their aim is to kill two birds with one stone; making them look like a ‘real’ couple whilst promoting their movie/album.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-’’To sell albums.’’ --> (Zigi, Chiam, Elounor, Hamille, Nailee, Haylor.) Let us be honest, are they not the biggest reasons why antis buy the album? Just to see what stuff they write about their fake girlfriends/boyfriends. Just to see how ‘Camille’ pronounces ‘’Coucou’’or just because Gigi Hadid starred in Zayn’s music video. Or maybe to finally know the ‘truth’ about Taylor’s fake relationships.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-’’It's all about the hype at the moment. Especially with the social media world.’’ --> I am going to point out an important thing Jack said. He said ‘’especially with the social media world.’’ Remember when there were only rumours of Louis and Eleanor being back together? The whole fandom tweeted about it. This made it popular and that was the solid moment 1D’s label knew that Elounor 2.0 would do it for them. They would earn a lot by it. The same thing counts for Zigi, Chiam, Haylor, Hamille. Hamille is a good example too. When all of you heard that Harry wrote a song about her and that her voice was going to be included in his song, what happened? Exactly, everyone went nuts and made sure to listen to that exact song. That is exactly what they want. They want that power over you, that is what gives them the money. Another example, how fast do you think solo Zayn stans and Directioners tweeted about a ‘power couple’ when the news broke that Zayn and Gigi are ‘expecting a child’? How fast did people open their social media accounts when Kylie Jenner was pregnant for the Kardashian’s 10th anniversary? (Social media does A LOT. Whenever a picture of Eleanor (beard) and Clifford (Louis’ dog) arrives on the internet, people automatically assume they are together in a room. This, is not the case. That is how convenient social media is to arranged relationships. Why start a rumour by hiring newspapers instead of posting a message on social media? It is much cheaper and more people will know about it in less than four hours.)
Tumblr media
Promoting certain brand like Coca Cola (Elounor), YSL, Gucci, Vogue (Zigi) and Hugo Boss are also a part of it. Celebrities wearing those brands make their fans want to buy it too, think of the Kardashians promoting Adidas and other expensive brands. Also think of people like Briana Jungwirth promoting flat tummy tea. This is called ‘celebrity branding.’
Tell me, how many times do you get HQ pic of your PR couple on your phone? People tend to go out of their mind when pictures come out. That is the immediate effect Hollywood has on social media/ you. That gives them the promo they need, even during quarantine the beards post pictures of themselves, making you think they are together when in reality they are not. :)
Tumblr media
{About why Jack hooked an arranged relationship up himself} --> ‘’It was more of a mutual agreement between the agents. {Tells a story about an actor getting bad reviews for a movie and in order to let people focus on something else they got the actor a girl, so the media would focus on the girl instead of the bad movie.}’’ -->  ‘’Just a one year deal. Basically they finished of the press and the international press and then they went their separate ways, because she did not want to do a two year deal.’’ {interviewer asks if it worked} --> ‘’It worked.’’ -->  A few examples of (approximately) a one-year deal: Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift, Niall Horan and Hailee Steinfield and Louis Tomlinson and Danielle Campbell. It is also good to point out that the beard can decide whether she wants to continue or not, but the celebrity has to do what the agent arranges.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Interviewer asks what reasons people might have to agree to one of these PR relationships} --> Different reasons, that could be to deflect attention away from a controversy (damage control. think of something Larry or Ziam related happening and the next day Zigi and Elouno are papped. Or fans finding out Louis is in the same country as Harry and the next day they will let Elouno do a pap walk. Another example is when Ziammies find out a Zigi picture is photoshopped, the next day you will see Zigi in person. This happens when their stunts fail). So if an actor has drugs and alcohol problems they may want to give the appearance that they have settled down and are in a committed relationships so that they can banked for films. Or they are going to be able to get bonded and get work and people will trust them, because they have settled down. It also could be done to create a brand. Two celebs getting together and 'now there's this tremendous interest about them being a power couple.' [...] We create strong provision against the disclosure of any negative facts against the celebrity - with consequences. So these agreements need to be structured with a hold back of money so that over time if they have complied with the agreement and not disclosed ehh no personal information and violation the agreement then they would be entitled the payment, so under the agreement. " --> The last part might be difficult to understand, because the lawyer uses difficult words, but what he is actually saying is very important. He says if the celebrities who are in the PR relationship have done their part (parading around with each other) then they will receive their money (please correct me if I am wrong). The host also confirmed that contracts like these are the reason why a lot of celebrities do not admit they had a PR relationships.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clues on how to spot a PR relationship:
-‘’The main clue you would see is if, you know, a certain high profiled male is dating a female (or when a high profiled female is dating a regular male), who was not high profile. All of a sudden, she is, overnight, the most talked about girl in Hollywood and everyone want a piece of them. That is the biggest thing, you know, it is such a career boost for the female that some females end up taking the deal.’’ --> Zigi, Elounor, Chiam, Brouis, Haylor, Taylor and Calvin. How does the world know Eleanor Calder? Because of Louis Tomlinson. No one knew her before, except her family. How did Gigi gain so many followers? Because she started dating Zayn Malik. Gigi already had a platform for herself, but she gained a lot of followers by dating Zayn. Zayn also gained followers by dating Gigi. Gigi needed promo and Zayn was in the spotlight, because he just ‘left 1D.’ This made him the perfect target. I hope all of you also notice that when beards/fake girlfriends post pictures of them with their fake boyfriend, it gets way more likes than their usual pictures.
{What was the benefit for the girl in the scenario?} --> ‘’Ehm, she has a huge career at the moment. She benefit from that by becoming a household name (someone that is well known) and getting bigger roles than she would have. She would use to be the 3rd or the 4th lead in any auditions or any jobs that she was getting. She then became the first lead. She got a great career boost out of it, for sure.’’ --> Gigi Hadid, Eleanor Calder, Sophia Smith, Cheryl Cole, Maya, Camille Rowe and Kendall Jenner are just a few examples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How did the world know Townes? Because ‘Harry named’ her in one of his songs. How did the world know about Maya Henry? Because Liam Payne started dating her. Before this, she was just a fan. How did Cheryl Cole get the attention back? Because of baby gate and by fake dating Liam Payne. How did Briana gain so many followers? Because Louis Tomlinson fans gave her the attention and because she participated in faking a pregnancy. How did Shawn and Camilla become a couple in the spotlight? Because people have always shipped them, ever since the beginning and their label gave the fans what they wanted. How did Kim Kardashian become famous? A *** tape of her and Ray J leaked and she became famous. Now, she is a lot richer and more famous than he is. A quick note, not many people know how Kim Kardashian became famous. They only really know her from Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The newer generation does not know about the tape scandal, and that is what they do. You need to dig a little deeper to see that. This all is an on-going cycle and it will not stop unless we all stop believing it. 😊
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What do they do in order to make a PR relationship look real?
{Interviewer asks what the clauses in an arranged relationships contract are} --> ‘’An arranged relationship is estranged by definition. So certainly we are going to see requests that are equally odd. They are certainly going to have requirements as to how they hold themselves out to the public as a couple. This would mean appearances at award shows, parties or events together as a couple and that there would be requirements maybe for specific events.’’ --> Eleanor attending Jay’s wedding and being ‘maid of honor’, Calvin and Taylor at Award shows, Elounor at the fashions show 2013, Haylor and their NYE ‘kiss’, Zigi at the MET gala and Chiam at the Brits, celebs at after parties with their ‘girlfriends’. All of these couples have also pictures with each other’s family members. That made a lot of you think they are close and real, well my loves, now you finally know that it is all part of a PR stunt. The fake girlfriends also have to look supportive, that is why they have to be there at concerts, soccer matches, award shows etcetera. 😊
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember when Eleanor (beard) posted a picture of herself and in the background you could see a picture of her and Louis in 2012 and ‘Louis’ written on a board? Remember when she posted a picture of herself with her and Louis’ boots in the background in 2018? All of these things are there to make it look like they truly live together and  that they truly own each other’s stuff. The same thing counts for Haylor’s airplane necklace. Do you genuinely think they did that by accident? No, that is the purpose of the whole picture. 😊
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘’Then there is going to be particularly some none disclosure issues surrounding them as to what cannot be said about the relationship and what needs to be said. There could be a script even as to what they have to say if asked about the relationships. There would be photo sessions showing them as a couple. And then I have seen issues of sexual relationships and specific whether this would happen or not happen in an agreement. But if it is truly a PR relationships then sex would not be a part of that relationship, because it is not real.’’ --> Loves, do you remember a moment when someone asked a celebrity about his/her relationships and they stuttered and looked uncomfortable, or they just said something wrong or embarrassing or tried to talk themselves out of it? Well, that happens when you have to make up stuff that never happened.  Louis Tomlinson confirmed his interviews are scripted, so this one is just an extra thick layer of confirmation. I also recall Gigi doing a live and someone asked about Zayn and she just stuttered and looked away, not knowing how to answer a question. (I think there have definitely been times when two people who were in an arranged relationship gave different answers to the same question, why? Because they do not know anything about each other.) Here is an example of a moment that is repeated and scripted about Louis’ ‘relationship’ with Eleanor, even know we have legit proof that is not what happened:
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I can hear all your lovely brains working and thinking whether a celebrity is willing to sign a contract like that or if their label is making them sign it. Well, if you have read my previous masterpost about the music industry you can see confirmations of the label making the artist their puppet. They own you, so if they think you should have a girlfriend to hide gay rumours then they will give you one. ‘A label cannot force you anything’, but it does make you sign a contract. When you sign the contract without reading it carefully, then your label will mess you up. In those contracts they do not write ‘’Taylor Swift has to agree to arranged relationships.’’ They write stuff like ‘’When signing the contract, Taylor Swift allows the label to make changes in order to get her to fame.’’ Of course Taylor (and other artists) would think that they mean changing her outfit and looks, but no. The label thinks being gay is something that will not get people enough fame. So what do they do? They change her, they change her sexuality. They closet her and even though Taylor and other LGBTQ artists do not want that. You cannot deny because when you do so, the label will show you the contract you signed. A contract like that is never written literally, they can manipulate their words. To the label ‘’being gay or a part of the LGBTQ+ community’’ falls under ‘’making changes’’ in order to make her famous. Of course there are celebrities who willingly closet themselves for various reasons. I hope to create a single post about how devious these contracts are for you all! 😊
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are a few things I hope you have learned from this: 😊
 - Fake relationships still exist and they will always exist. It has been confirmed, so no one can deny this anymore.
 - The girl and boy have to go to special events, such as award shows, family dinners and weddings in order to make it look real.
 - Homophobia is still a thing and the biggest reason why arranged relationships exist.
 - The beard has a contract too, so your idol has no say in how long she can or cannot stay. If she does good then she will stay. (I see many people say that Louis chose Eleanor because they are friends and that is why she is back, but he actually has no say in anything. Your idol is their product to sell. Your idol is basically a marionette.)
-The PR team does everything to make it look like they are truly together, think of photos of each other in each other’s homes and ‘personal gifts.’
-Celebrities get an enormous boost on their social media accounts when they start being part of an arranged relationship. Something I have always thought was a bit odd, is the fact that Eleanor never created an insta account until her and Louis’ ‘relationship’ had its peak; in the middle of June 2012. When in reality, insta was created in 2010. She also created twitter in 2012. Exactly when the first few big events were attended by them. (I genuinely think she did that, because everyone wanted to see more of her. Plus, she has always wanted to be a fashion blogger and this was her ‘big moment’ to do so.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The credits for this post go to @Totallylost4you. They made me aware of the podcast and they continue to shine light on hidden treasures like this one. They also hardly get credits for their solid hard work and I hope they will continue doing this! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your attention. If you have any question/suggestion, please do not hesitate to ask/tell me! I wish all of you the best and please stay safe. Have an amazing day!

Hey btw I checked that interview anon talked about regarding pr relationships. It was given by a publicist Jack Ketsoyan and he actually has a book too! Which is fairly entertaining and pretty on point. He certainly spoke a lot of truth I won’t deny that and for people interested in pr I think his interview and book is insightful. While Flack does tend to glamorize the job a bit which I mean lack of paperwork and the boring side, I think it is fairly accurate. I have a friend who works in the same department of pr and it was pretty on point to how she describes it.
I do still hold my opinion, but I won’t force anyone on it. I have known enough people in pr and those who work underground about it, I don’t see it as formulaic and one note, especially that more and more people in this age of social media are able to tell when celebs are fabricating things.

I NEED MY ANTI-LARRIES, LARRIES, HARRIES, LOUIES, AND EVERY OTHER GROUP INVOLVED WITH THIS GOD FORSAKEN SHIP TO PLEASE GATHER AROUND UNDER A FLAG OF TRUCE!
I ASK YOU TO PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO HEAR ME OUT, REMEMBER ASSUMPTIONS WILL BE KEPT OUT OF THIS DISCUSSION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!
So I'm sure you guys have looked at us Larry shippers like we are completely delusional. Even I have been blown away at the reaches some shippers will make. I can't really blame you for being skeptical, but I want you to understand why there is such a vast majority of us that doesn't think the idea of Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson secretly being in a relationship or have in the past is an all that crazy idea.
(Please take note I'm going to be as FACTUAL and as REALISTIC as possible using the GIVEN FACTS I already have.)
Why do you think Harry and Louis are together?
I'm keeping this portion extremely small as it can be annoying to look at, but I just want to show some weird things us fans have noticed between the two that caused all the research I'm about to show you. (THERE WON'T BE MORE THAN THREE LITTLE SNIPPETS I PROMISE, ALL THREE BEING COMPLETELY RESPECTFUL TO THE TWO OF THEM)!!!
Tumblr media
Now this video does actually exist on the internet today (I'll leave a link) and it does arise some questions. It seems a little strange to answer yes to this question while looking completely serious, especially since the dating rumors were already in full blast at the time. All things considered, it really just doesn't make sense.
(X)
Tumblr media
This tweet can definitely be explained. Louis could have gotten hacked that day. But the weird thing is, is that the tweet still exists on his Twitter account today and has picked up quite a bit of noise (being the 4th most retweeted tweet in history). Again, I'll leave a link so you can access it.
(X)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harry deliberately turned his entire body to face Louis and sung a very romantic line, neither of them laughing or trying to make a joke of it. Some people claim they hear "I'm in love with Lou" and "All his little things" which is entirely based off of ear so I'll let you decide. Unexplainable at best. Link:
(X)
How realistic can a situation like this actually be?
The thought of two boys who are both gay/bi/other being put into the same band and just happen to want to be together is already a pretty crazy thought to have, now add the theory that their wealthy and incredibly professional management team wants to cover up any remnants of an ongoing relationship between the two of them who also happen to be in a worldwide successful music group entirely appealing to the female audience and the thought has basically become an unrealistic fantasy.
But it's happened before.
I'm sure you've heard of the Irish pop band Westlife, who also have very impressive record sales. 13 major releases, 11 of which are albums, over 1,000,000 subscribers on YouTube, have sold over 55 million records worldwide, and over 550,000,000 streams on Spotify. Their achievements range from Top Album Sales of the 2000s in the UK to holding the Guinness World Record for 'First to Achieve Seven Consecutive Number One singles in the UK'.
But the most important resemblance this band has to One Direction is that they were signed by Simon Cowell, and Louis Walsh became their manager. They were signed with a Sony BMG company, very similar to One Direction's.
Little known fact about one of the old Westlife members Mark Feehily who later left the band, is that he is gay. He got engaged to a male British Fashion Photographer without any public awareness. In fact, everyone seemed to believe he was straight, as he was 'dating' women at the time.
The band has come out and said that while being signed under Louis, they suffered mistreatment and relationship cover ups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would highly recommend reading the article, the band members talk a lot about being forced to keep a squeaky clean image for the ladies and they even warned One Direction that they had a storm coming being signed under Simon. (X)
I understand that Mark and his ex fiance's situation was different than Harry and Louis' but it proves that the entire corporation Simon Cowell and his team run is not afraid to cover things up if necessary.
So even if this conspiracy is true, how would Sony realistically cover something like this up?
For the record, you can't count on me to understand what goes on in celebrities lives' especially when it comes to image management. I tried my best to do as much research as possible and get reliable sources, but this is a tough one to answer.
One thing that's true is that Hollywood has been proven to use fake relationships to boost Public Relations and create drama within the celebrity gossip world. These are called 'PR stunts'. While there aren't many celebrities who have come out and told the public that the relationship they were in wasn't actually real, a Hollywood publicist Jack Ketsoyan has exposed PR stunting in all it's entirety:
Tumblr media
Many fans have long suspected that relationships Louis and Harry have been in were actually just stunts to hide the fact the two of them were together, specifically Elounor (Louis and Eleanor Calder). While the reasons these fans believe this doesn't seem logical, they also directly correlate with what Jack says defines a PR stunt:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link to the article: (X)
So PR stunting is nothing new in Hollywood apparently. Now if Larry Stylinson is true, this would be a really good way to cover it up.
Why would Harry and Louis agree to this?
Life is very different nowadays then it was ten years ago. Gay marriage in the United States wasn't even legal until after One Direction disbanded. Homophobia was still extremely rampant in 2010, it wouldn't have been a good idea to announce that two boys in an incredibly famous band were actually gay and with each other.
It wouldn't be just about record sales. The band had a reputation of being girl loving and constantly available. Statistics show that 80% of One Direction's fan base was female. This is not saying that every single fan was a teenage girl who lived and dreamed about being with a One Direction member, but it was enough of them to build a brand around.
Even now, actors and singer still shy away from coming out immediately. There are still a lot of people who don't support it, and that kind of hatred, especially to somebody young, can be detrimental to their mental health.
Conclusion:
This post was NOT made to make you a Larry shipper. This was post was also NOT made to start a debate in the comments or through reblogs on wether or not Harry and Louis have/had something more than friendship.
This post was however made by a TIRED Larry shipper who just wants you to know that we are not crazy, or delusional, or even stupid to believe that this situation can be entirely realistic based on the circumstances
If you've made it this far, let me know in the comments if I've changed your viewpoint on us shippers or if this post opened your eyes a little on the secret mistreatment of celebrities.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, you are an absolute legend! TPWK!

DirtCast Blind Item Interview Transcription!
DirtCast Transcription featuring an interview with the authors of the book Blind Item by Kevin Dickson (KD, former feature editor for In Touch and Life & Style tabloid magazines) and Jack Ketsoyan (JK, owner of the boutique PR agency EMC Bowery). Madeline (M) is the host.
These are just the really interesting parts pertinent to our interests… To make the interview easier to understand and translate, I have clarified some points and improved some grammatical mistakes. Any major omission is represented by an ellipses (…) and any added words are included in brackets ([ ]). I only removed conversational filler and incomplete thoughts that caused confusion.
(About 14 minutes in)
M—Oh and one thing I found really intriguing about the story you guys wrote is how Nicola is an aspiring publicist but she ends up getting sent out by her boss on dates with celebrities so that it looks like they have a girlfriend. And I’m wondering how often things like that actually happen?
JK—A lot, a lot. You’d be surprised. I’ve set up so many dates with certain people and certain scenarios that we… It happens a lot. Especially when that A-list movie star has a movie coming out or a big project coming out and they’re not getting the publicity they’re supposed to be getting you want to start causing some drama out there… So you set them up.
M—So you just set them up with a pretty girl and hope people report on it?
JK—Exactly. And you’ll be surprised. And some of them do. There’s contracts involved. And there’s years involved in some cases, so it depends on the length and you know the things they have to do. It just depends on the person. But contracts are involved in this.
M—It must be such a strange job for those people who are just like basically stand-in escorts. Where… they must just know so much stuff.
JK—Well a lot of times… you know they get perks out of this. You get lots of perks out of it. A lot of the girls don’t care and vise versa. If it’s an up and coming actress or an up and coming actor and you know, overnight they could be famous. You know, overnight they could—it’s all of a sudden roles they’re not getting, overnight they’re getting roles now. They’re getting campaigns now. It changes their life completely as well. So you know… there’s an upside to this. You get something out of this. It just depends when your contract is done, how are you going to survive doing what you did to keep the momentum going?
M—It’s so insidious but it also feels so Old Hollywood system which is kind of exciting.
KD—It is really Old Hollywood. But even for the flipside, working for a tabloid… I would work with starlets, people who were on TV shows and they would always ask how to get to the next level and it was by choosing the right partner. So I remember working with a number of people and not just one or two, but like every woman that we would do a photoshoot with, ‘How can I get to the next level?’ in In Touch or Life & Style and you would be trying to get them with someone who could get them with someone who could raise their star a little bit. So for example, when Christian Reynaldo came to the US for a little while, he was a really popular target and it worked quite well.
M—Yeah, I bet.
KD—For a lot of people.
M—Well and he’s such an international celebrity too.
KD—Well, that’s what you need because if you’re not going to make it in the US you can always go ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here’ in the UK and you have a career.
*They tell a story about Kim Kardashian trying to hook up with Nick Lachey before she was really famous*
(around 21 minutes)
M—Jack, I’m wondering if you can tell us some stories about your time in crisis management as a publicity, as a PR rep? Just because I imagine that you have dealt with some very crazy celebrity demands and incidents. Especially if you are representing people like Tara Reid or Paris Hilton.
JK—There’s been a lot out there! But I mean, just for some reason for a while I was representing girl after girl who were trouble makers. And that’s what I was doing—I was doing damage control 24-7 and the phone wouldn’t stop ringing. But there’s tips and tricks that you do to get them out of it and I’m not really going to [tell] any stories because we don’t want people out there to know about it, but it’s very… You have to craft things basically. You know you have to shift things around or do the opposite of what’s happening with them at the moment and make them do certain things. And you know we’ll call the photographer to get them [going] out and doing certain things. Just there’s a lot of ways to flip it around. And one of the things I say is that a lot of publicists don’t want to work with the weeklies [tabloids] but the weeklies are the ones controlling these stories so if you end up working with them, you end up sometimes killing to story or shifting the story so it benefits your client. So I think that’s one of the biggest mistakes out there—that a lot of publicists don’t want to work with the weeklies and don’t work with them. Sometimes the weeklies will be good to you and sometimes they’ll turn against you, you just never know, but 99% of the time in my experience, I was able to kill the story or I was able to shift the story to something different from what was coming out.
M—Yeah, that seems like obviously the brighter move as the publicist just because it’s such an ‘I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine’ industry right?
JK—You would assume so, but a lot of the publicists have this pride in them that we don’t work with the tabloids or we don’t work with the weeklies because we’re way beyond that. Though I think that’s when you make the biggest mistake when you think that way. You need those people as much as they need you, so you got to work with them.
M—So does that just mean calling up Kevin and asking what he has on your client and seeing how you can shape that?
JK—Absolutely. You know a lot of times you could call and find out what they have and then you could give them a couple stories and the story shift benefits your client. You know so it all depends on how you navigate the story. So… I say it’s really important to be friendly with these people and work with them because in the long end it’s going to help you out, especially nowadays. I feel like back in the day you could have protected your client and stories wouldn’t come out, but nowadays with social media and everything that goes on, nobody’s protected anymore. So you need people even more than you did back then. Every secret, eventually nowadays, pops up.
M—And Kevin, what’s that like from the other side as an editor who gets those phone calls?
KD—It was fine. Jack was one of the few publicists who would actually work to control something, like if you had a photo with a starlet with a huge line of coke in front of her and a dollar bill in her nose and it’s pretty clear what the next frame is going to be, you could talk to any publicist in the world and they’ll be ‘That’s not my client.’ Like we can run this photo. I don’t like that sort of journalism and I was well, you’re not really going to run it in In Touch, you’re not going to show someone taking drugs, but that’s a great leverage photo to get them to announce their pregnancy with you. If you go ‘Hey if we don’t run this can you give us a relationship story instead?’ Which is actually more worthwhile.
M—So readers would rather read happier stories than they would scandal stories, is that what you’re saying?
KD—Well, my job was… I was the features editor of those magazines. So my job was to provide actual celebrity contact. My job was also, because I had good relationships with most publicists was to call [about] the shitty stories… It was my job to call on a Monday and say ‘Hey listen we have this story Jennifer Aniston’s publicist’ and they would just say ‘we deny it,’ and so all I legally need from them is to then tell my lawyer that their publicist has denied the story. And then in some cases the publicist may be ‘I really want to kill this story’ so then you’re looking at two pages that are going to die, which is fine since you can fill them with some other story or photo story if I’m going to get a Q & A because at In Touch and Life & Style it’s pretty hard to get people to agree to a Q & A because those magazines have a pretty poor reputation with publicists.
M—Right.
KD—So if I could trade that up or—and this isn’t the only way we got people to cooperate—but it was a pretty convenient method of getting people to cooperate or getting them to do a photo story at their house that fills four pages next week.
*More on the Kim Kardashian story*
JK—I actually could tell you one story about how working with a tabloid could help you out. I had a client who had… some photos leaked of her… very nudie photos. It was really compromising, it was really damaging. So I called one of the tabloids and I was like ‘Hey I know there’s these photos being shopped around and they would not sell to my client because she was willing to pay whatever, but the person who had it wanted to damage her.’ So I called up one of the tabloids had a conversation and [told] them that her wedding was coming up… and we gave them her wedding story and they ended up buying her photos and killing the photos for us. So working with the tabloids I always say you end up benefitting sometimes. Yeah sometimes it will backfire but 99% of the time I would say it is helpful. Like I mean they bought the photos and those pictures never came out. They kept their promise.
M—Yeah I mean it sounds very symbiotic.
KD—It’s definitely symbiotic. And when it works, it works really well.
M—Do you guys see any celebrities out there right now who just need new publicists because they are particularly messy?
JK—Um… I don’t know. I mean I don’t know if I want to say those names! I’ll keep it to myself to that.
KD—It just seems like right now people, the craziness of the earlier part of the century seems to have definitely died. We don’t have like a bunch of crazy people clubbing every night. That’s just not happening anywhere.
JK—I feel like anything that happens nowadays ends up on Snap Chat or ends up on Instagram. So… I think the celebrities are at fault now and are even bigger because if they’re wasted or doing something they’re not supposed to be doing, they’re actually putting it out there themselves.
M—Yeah definitely… I’m sure, much to a lot of publicist’s chagrin it’s just like someone can fire off a string of Tweets rather than go through them.
JK—Honestly, it’s like a publicist’s nightmare, the Tweeting and the Instagram is an actual publicist’s nightmare because… Especially when they have divorce drama or any kind of drama going on and the Twitter trolls come out and start attacking you. And there’s a certain amount of time you have to take something and then they feel like they have to [fire back]. And once they say something back it becomes this bigger story. So for a publicist it’s a nightmare. So they say ‘Please stay off Twitter, please don’t read the comments or please don’t do this.’ Sometimes I would make the celebrity delete their account for a week or for a while because the Twitter trolls can be really harmful.
M—Oh I bet. I mean we have to deal with it on a much smaller scale. So I can hardly imagine—
KD—The other thing I feel like social media and the advent of really high quality cell phones have driven the party scene private. And that’s been something that happened here and after hours [after hours clubs] have sprung up but you don’t get to take your phone… like if you’re not a super celebrity your phone is in a bag at the front with a security guard watching it. That’s been going on for years, probably for like a decade it’s been more prevalent. Back in the day you could go from Hyde to someone’s house, but now it’s all at the house and everything’s checked and the stories we’re hearing are worse! There are truly horrifying things happening at these parties but it’s all under wraps. It’s all protected and guarded and like in the book where they use big houses left over from a reality TV shoot or are sitting vacant and they get used for a month or two as a party house until the neighbors complain and they get shut down.
M—Wow, what a life. They’re all such rolling stones! So that’s pretty crazy. So as two experts of the celebrity industry, and you don’t have to name names, but again you can if you want to, are there people who maybe you don’t represent or don’t know, where it’s just really obvious what they’re trying to do, where you’re like ‘Yes, that’s definitely a fake couple. Yeah, that story definitely got planted.’ Can you guys just spot that from a mile away?
JK—Absolutely! Actually a certain person just got separated a couple of weeks ago and that was a set up situation. They were together for three years, the contract expired and she moved on.
M—Oh my god.
JK—And she was the beard.
M—Are the contracts actual legal contracts?
KD—Yeah!
JK—Yes, it’s an actual legal contract that you have to follow certain rules and do certain things. And it helped this certain person a lot. Her movie, her career skyrocketed actually. She’s working a lot.
M—Good for her, I guess.
KD—You can see… these fake [relationships]—like the set up ones a mile off. And they begin and end with a cold precision. You can spot them pretty easily.
JK—And their usual time period is two to three years. That’s when you know, at the third year mark, when they move one.
M—That is such a long time to be in a fake relationship!
JK—It is, but also it’s—a lot of these starlets especially, are so hungry for it you know, that they’ll do anything for it, to get the fame and the fortune and everything else that comes with it. Because especially with girls, it’s a lot more difficult to get jobs. Sadly like they say in Hollywood after 32 it’s over for a girl, but a man can keep working until their 60s and their 70s. So a lot of these girls have this shortened time span that they have to make it or it’s like over for them so they’re willing to do anything. Especially if you’re an actress who’s been auditioning for years and you’re still not getting the role and all these other people are getting the roles over you, then you’re like ‘Okay what’s my plan B now?’
KD—Yeah, because you have to raise your Q score [an index used by trade publications to rate the popularity of actors based on their roles, critical reception and their visibility in media], you have to raise your visibility and it’s an easy way to do it. And if the publicist or the agent set up a relationship where they can control both parties, that’s great, because we’ve both seen relationships where an actress picks a guy and wants to date the guy and then the guy’s a disaster and he’s selling to the tabloids. He’ll sell her out. And we’ve both worked with that. And we’re all, ‘Wait where’s the leak? Oh! It’s your boyfriend, great.’
M—Yep, the call is coming from the house!
KD—The call is definitely coming from the house and that’s why we’re getting photos of you at everything, it’s crazy because the boyfriend is the source.
JK—But also sometimes you just see them together at a premiere, you see them doing certain little things here and there, and because they both have working careers going on it’s not like they’re together 24/7, so it’s not like you have to deal with that person every single day. You’re not. So it’s like ‘He lives on the East coast and I’m living in LA because that’s where my career is, so we see each other twice a month.’ So it’s easy, it’s doable, it’s not like you moved in with this person and completely lost your life. It’s not like that whatsoever. It’s not.
M—Those are some really good clues—living on opposite coasts, together for 2-3 years, aren’t seen together that often.
