i think bubby feels REALLY bad abt the betrayal.. like when he watches gordons hand get cut off hes immediately like "hey. hey no wait" but cant do much bc hes put in his tube. when he opens his eyes again n realizes where he is & what happened he just like. yells. he hits the glass w his fists and swears and hes just SO mad bc how could he make such a dumb mistake?? hes the perfect scientist, he should know better!

Perry's Weekly Shounen Jump Recap
I read manga, a whole bunch infact. I like talking about them and recommending them. So consider this as short couple sentence reviews about the weekly catalogue for Shounen Jump. Things above the cut are must reads imo and everything else is scatter shot. Images below are for the first 5 manga on the list in order.
PPPPPPP tugged at my heart strings and brought me to tears with Reijiro's backstory, it felt both real and unreal and I hope we get to see more follow up for what is quickly shaping up to be my new favorite story. The art is phenomenal too in setting up a very dream like world with the gravity of our own. Maybe it's personal bias though I just relate heavily to these kind of narratives -- for obvious reasons ;≥;
Mission: Yozakura Family was also really good I'm loving the set up for this next arc, I think as a final boss so to speak this current set up brings a good challenge to the Siblings. the coulor pages continue to blow my mind too in their complexity. This next fight is gonna rock.
Magu-Chan made me cry and for a comedy series that's just "Cthulhu in my pocket" that's incredible -- also sunrise and sunset by the shore break me just a bit.
Black Clover had the perfect first chapter for the end of the biggest scale arc yet and I'm expecting alot of great ugly crying next week before the inevitable bomb reveal.
Sakamoto Days doubled down on a really good and impactful message and is setting up another exquisite fight with some amazing artwork and panel flow. I appreciate that the author isn't making it a thing to have Sakamoto slim down just to fight, it feels really thematically correct.
Bringing us home is Ayashimon -- the new series by the mangaka who made Hell's Paradise (I haven't read all of it but what I got saw was amazing) is Incredible and I can see it getting Fire Punch levels of "Oh What The FUCK". I think rival Yokai Yakuza gangs duking it out in Kabukicho will be great and our protagonist is genuinely unwell in the head for some pretty deep reasons. If you loved Chainsaw Man then you need to read this.

Doctor Stone did some science stuff and continues to be just okay... Doctor Coomer's Look alike came back
JuJustu Kaisen showing alot of good growth with Yuji and I think that it's fitting to have the atonement be done in a court... Loving the current bad guy.
Undead Unluck is going pretty well at working on Killing God and I really love how these games have been formatted, if you love JoJo thinking/gambling fights you'll love the set up, but the pay off is more oriented at dedicated Undead Unluck Fans
Blue Box happened romance bits are cute idk it was middling.
Mashle fucking owns I loved seeing a metal rod be turned into a baseball kit for a gag, truly one of the best Looney Tunes type manga out there. Ayashimon and One Punch Man all fit together as a family of cartoonishly strong guys... Maybe Sakamoto too.
Spy X Family is adorable and I love it so much its just augh so cute!
And a farewell with arms to Neru: Way Of The Martial Artist, the ending was rushed and that sucks for what was shaping up to he a really down to earth passionate story about the art of martial arts. I appreciated the style and and the weight realism with how it was drawn, and It had alot of genuine heart and Neru himself was a really great character. I think whatever comes next Hiragi will be worth looking at.

Time to rant about my au woop woop
HL alien! Gordon:
- Born on Xen
- Was mostly alone there because his species is almost extincted
- Is a shapeshifter, can electrocute people (can only do that in original form), and is pretty fast
- Is kindof related to vortigaunts
- Is dark green, has 2 big green eyes and 2 smaller eyes under them, and has claws, tiny spots on his face, a lil arm on his chest, and sharp teef
- When he shapeshifts, his eyes are always green. Except if the thing has no eyes
- Taken to Black Mesa by scientists after they figured out how to get to Xen and back and they studied him and tested on him
- Kleiner stumbled upon where they were keeping him and read files about him
- Soon after that, Gordon escaped and made himself look like Kleiner. He bumped into Kleiner and it was very awkward. But once Kleiner figured out the situation, he decided to help him out
- Eli had walked in on them planning on what to do and was very confused why there were two Kleiners. Kleiner explained and then helped Gordon find someone else to shapeshift as
- Gordon had decided to stay to figure out how to get home
- Can't make human noises
- Talks to very few people
- Never actually left Black Mesa (except for occasionally going outside, but that's just desert), so he's never seen what the rest of the world looks like
- Resonance cascade happened months after he escaped. He couldn't get into his original form during it because he didn't want to reveal it to the people there. He does get into it in Xen though
- Fucking h a t e s the HEV suit because the people who took him to Black Mesa were wearing them
HLVRAI alien! Gordon:
- Very similar to HL Gordon, but story is a lil different
- When he shapeshifts, only one of his eyes are green. The other eye is just whatever the thing's eye color is. In his case, it's brown
- Had an egg on Xen but was taken to Black Mesa before it hatched. And he knows the baby can't live on it's own :(
- Was taken to Bubby's tube months after he was taken because... idk, Black Mesa doesn't make sense. So he's buddies with Bubby :] and Gordon bit him when they met
- They escaped together and he disguised himself as Dr. Coomer before making himself look like another human
- Can make human noises, but it's difficult when he looks like an alien compared to doing it while disguised as a human
- Resonance cascade happened years after he escaped. He stayed for the same reason as hl Gordon
- Lied about having a baby because he honestly didn't know how else to explain the random baby picture in his locker. He has no idea where that came from
- Says his blood is orange because of some disease
- Often whispers to Bubby to ask him about Weird Human Things
- Acted very strange when they got to Xen and never explained
- Terrified of telling the others because they may see him different or worse, think he's like the Xen creatures they ran into. Bubby calls him a baby for being scared of that
- It is kinda obvious he's not human when he acts very strange when the science team hang out after everything. Because he's never been outside of Black Mesa!! He has no clue what he's doing!
- Knows Gman can take him back to Xen, but never asks because he realized there was really nothing there for him

oh hey here's an idea..
those Gordon swap aus for hlvrai and hl1 but instead of the simple one man swap it's the hlvrai team thrown into the normal hl1 "real" world with og mute Gordon...
Since they're now in "the real world" they can all get hurt and will die now (no more god mode funny respawn deaths), they don't have access to their op weapons and their ammo is limited, things that were modded into the game like the vuvuzella (sweet voice) and Benrys packs (boss battle forms) are completely gone making him a normal human who actually has to fight alongside them now if he wants to survive; this means he isn't an antagonist anymore and more of a reluctant teammate, Coomer and Bubby can't activate their op powers or mess around with the world, Tommy never comes across Sunkist and the gman from the other world is not his father :( and unless they really know who Forzen is he'd probably just get shot and killed... Darnolds whole "potion" shtick sounds the most normal but ofc growing gun arms on people Probably wouldn't be a thing...
everything is just strangely normal and they all hate it and are kinda terrified because This Isn't How Video Games Work what the heck is going on, is the game broken? did they somehow break the code? where is the Gordon they've been travelling with the whole time? why is this other Gordon so different?
When it all changes they're in the middle of a fight messing around, doing their usual dumb stuff but suddenly everything changes when the headcrabs jumping at them actually break skin with their talons and the gunshots from the military draw blood and it's?? scary to say the least because there was no tell before hand that anything was wrong but now they have to be try and be Serious and Help each other lest something baaad happens to one of them.
The Gordon from this world is incredibly kind but also incredibly hard to follow, he keeps trying to direct the science team to safety so they won't get in any danger but they're Adamant to stay and fight alongside him because that's what they did with their Gordon and otherwise there's nothing for them, especially in a world they're not from.
Both Tommy and Coomer can speak sign language so they translate for Bubby and Benry, Tommy is more trustworthy when it comes to actual translation but Coomer is happy to try and teach the others some sign, the "NPCS" they'd previously come across and killed are actual real people and their emotions and reactions to things make a lot more sense to the team now after seeing how this Gordon reacts to things, sure the team still all have a weird happy go lucky attitude to everything and joke around a bit more than they probably should considering the situation but Gordon has to admit it's nice to have them around to help and cheer him up a little, lord knows he needs it.
I don't have much more to add other than Benry acts very...off...after becoming human, he isn't much for goofing off now and speaks less and the team can tell he's kinda down and missing his powers but they don't really know what to do. This world Gordon not knowing how antagonistic Benry was in the past works in his favour in that he could maybe call him a friend but his crush still gets in the way and he still kinda acts like a idiot love struck frat boy and ruins it despite it all.
idk I needed to get this out of my brain, it suddenly struck me and idk if anyone else had had a similar idea but... :') enjoy

I do have android info I love talking about the androids.
Gordon and Coomer's original primary focus was to repair Darnold and Bubby, along with themselves, whenever something happened and one of them needed it. Bubby was meant to be the only one who went out to explore and collect things, bring them back and Darnold was there to study and examine these things and then send info back to Black Mesa.
After Black Mesa pretty much abandoned the project, Darnold stopped trying to send info and instead just started writing everything down. Then Coomer remembered everything about his life before and started following Bubby out more until Bubby himself remembered and stopped exploring all together because hes just a lil bit of a coward.
Gordon took up the job of exploring.
Gordon's response to being overwhelmed with something he doesn't understand fully is to blue screen. Because he blue screened when his hand was ripped clean off by Forzen, he didn't remember everything he could have. Things were broken up for him. He knew he was human, knows he was forced into the whole xen project thing, knows he has a son named Joshua but isn't sure if Joshua was his name or if its just a name he made up for his Rover. Hes only sure Joshua is the right name when he has Joshua's locket.
Thanks to the blue screen his memory of Barney was in shambles as well. He can't quite place names to faces or faces to people in the scattered memories but he knows the name Barney is familiar when Alyx and Joshua bring him up. He (and Darnold) only remembers Barney almost fully when Barney comes to Xen with a med kit for Joshua after Joshua,,,,loses his arm to Forzen,,
Each of the androids have one set color for the parts that glow on them, but Gordon has two. Coomer's color is green, Bubby's blue, Darnold's orange and Gordon's green and orange.
The android run on the Xen crystals so their power is never at risk of dying unless the crystal happens to be knocked out of them.
Thanks to running on the Xen crystals, the androids are all relatively warm to the touch rather than cold.
Also thanks to the Xen crystals, the androids are at risk of becoming unstable because these crystals hold such a significant amount of power in them...but its fine.
The android can express emotions but they can not cry. And usually this would be a silly fact but theres something really upsetting about being able to feel but not being able to express through something thats practically tied to every emotion, which is crying. Alyx finds Gordon alone ready to chew him out and hes sitting there in the dark looking right at the photo in Joshua's locket. He looks like hes going to cry but he cant.
The androids can not be affected by the sweet-voice or Gman's call, but can be affected by Tommy and Gman's void ability.
I can not for the life of me remember if I already shared this drawing but its the best example of what I mean when I say they glow
They just got fun glowy parts on them Im weak for things glowing idk if I made that obvious or not fbdjdjb

whatre bosshusbands pronouns and orientation? very important knowledge. also his opinions on the science team?
He/Him/They/Them/ any neutral pronouns works honestly, anything thats not she p much is fair game. Orientation I’m not too sure of yet, p much anything other than straight is possible, maybe demiromantic pan? idk yet
Also using Wayne as the name (at least as a placeholder) cuz no one said what they think about names
As for opinions on the science team!
Tommy: Wayne likes Tommy! Gordon obvs told him what happened so he’s very thankful to Tommy for helping Gordon and, y’know, not helping get Gordon’s hand chopped. Generally he likes how reasonable and intelligent Tommy is! He enjoys Tommy’s jokes and antics. No complaints! Would let Tommy babysit Joshie by himself.
Darnold: Wayne admires Darnold’s intelligence! He can tell Darnold’s a bit of the skittish sort and sort of quietly decides to keep an eye on him. Waynes the sort to stand up for others more than he’ll stand up for himself. Generally he likes Darnold, but it can be a little awkward between them as neither are very outgoing people persons. They can bond over soda and tf2 tho. Probs would be ok with Darnold watching Joshie by himself.
Coomer: Wayne, doesn’t dislike Dr. Coomer. He’s not too happy about the whole ‘tried to crawl inside Gordon’s arm and pilot him like a puppet’ thing. Or the ‘not really helping when Gordon got jumped’ thing, but Coomer did apologize and no permanent harm (aside from psychological trauma) was done. If Gordon says the Docs ok then cool, but Wayne’ll be a little frosty at first. Would only be allowed to watch Joshie by himself in emergencies/with no other options available.
Bubby: HA Oh boi, Wayne is, not happy with Bubby. Bubby straight up chose to betray Gordon and doesn’t even have the excuse of Gman’s interference making him the bad guy to fall back on. It takes a bit for Wayne to really be ok with Bubby, maybe a good ol fashioned heart to heart after Bubby genuinely apologizes to Gordon. After that he thinks xe are a laugh riot, loves the antics and arson! And Dr. Feelgood is a bop. Either way xe is not allowed around Joshie without supervision from Gordon or Wayne. Either from mistrust or just not wanting xem to teach Joshie to set stuff on fire with their mind yet.
Benrey: This ones a little more complicated, on one hand Benrey was forced to be the ‘big bad’ by the games design (Gman trying to get rid of the entity) but on the other they are genuinely infuriating for Gordon to be around p often. Wayne’s p frosty towards Benrey for a good long while, won’t warm up until after Gordon and Benrey come to an understanding and start getting along better. After that he thinks Benrey is p funny, he enjoys playing some games with them and enjoys their antics. Still not allowed to be alone with Joshie because, let’s face it, Benrey isn’t great at the whole human thing
Sunkist: Listen, I know she’s not part of the science team technically but she’s v important. Sunkist is a delight and Wayne loves her to bits. Very enamored with the soda name. Honestly probs would let her watch Joshie alone, but not for long because while she is perfect she is also a dog with no opposable thumbs.

Gordon: We all had to make it out of Black Mesa. You, me, Dr. Coomer, Tommy, and Bubby- we’re all the Science Team. There’s a few others too- Darnold, the mixologist; Forzen, the soldier who you apparently used to be friends with; Tommy’s Dad, who’s... Weird; and Tommy’s dog, Sunkist.
Gordon: And... And at one point, you and Bubby threw me under the bus. You and Bubby are the reason I have a robotic arm. And then, as it turns out, we had to go to an Alien Planet called Xen and you-
[Benrey suddenly shudders violently, startling Gordon.]
Benrey: can- can i see your p-passport
Gordon: Benrey I told you-
Benrey: i need- i need to see your ID
Benrey: i- you’re- not- not supposed to be here-

i can tell when im REALLY into something when i start getting the urge to make a Wings of Fire au of it and im gettin it with hlvrai now Yeet
i usually never act on the urge but like.... lemme just ramble for a min ok?
MudWing Gordon.... his name would be Gorge (which is admittedly more of a SkyWing kinda name but i Do Not Care) and he would be a messenger for the MudWing queen! MudWings, if you ignore the wingspan, are some of the biggest dragons in WoF (Gordon talks about being a “big dude” at least once that I can recall) and in comparison to the other dragons, they have kinda basic abilities- they can breathe fire IF they are warm enough and can hold their breath for about an hour... their strengths really lie in their physical strength and typically protective personalities (like, c’mon,) Also Joshua ABSOLUTELY exists in this au, his name is Jasper :) also also bonus MudWing colors are usually earthy tones and orange!!
Ice/SandWing hybrid Tommy,,, tbh I wanted him to be a full SandWing if only for their golden colors, but I figured I really wanted Gman to be an IceWing (actually in hindsight maybe NightWing would be a better fit for him but it’s too late I’m attached to hybrid Tommy) IceWing culture is.... strict, to say the least, so Tommy would have to at least LOOK like an IceWing.. anywho,, his name would be Terrace!! Gman is Queen Glass (yes male queen i do not give a shit) and is also an animus (magic babeyyy) and Sunkist is a polar bear
SeaWing Coomer! I’m not particularly set on a name for him so *shrug* but anywho SeaWings are blues and greens, have bioluminescence (and a separate language using only their light) and are pretty intimidating with their incredibly strong tails (typically for making big waves in the water but are also great in combat!) I imagine Coomer would be an archivist or something the like?
SkyWing Bubby, tbh SkyWings don’t match the colors at all bc they’re reds and oranges but whatever whatever- they’re very Classic Dragon vibes, they breathe fire and are known for their large wingspans and are some of the fastest/best flyers! Bubby’s name would prolly be Burst or something to that vibe, and he would be unusually warm to the touch (not to the extent of whatever Peril has I forget what it’s called lmao) and have especially hot fire bc I Said So!! I like to think, bc the SkyWing kingdom has a coast near the SeaWing kingdom, that Coomer and Bubby would be pals since long before the events of the story!! I also imagine Bubby being a common soldier but he thinks he’s hot shit
NightWing Forzen! I mostly picked NightWing bc they’re very mysterious to other dragons, and are usually considered an omen of sorts bc no one ever sees them, hence why the group would be immediately suspicious of him.... usually NightWings can have both or either (or neither) of the abilities to see the future or read minds BUT i decided this all would happen before anyone realized those powers only really materialize when their eggs are incubated under moonlight SOO forzen doesn’t have either of those abilities lmao,, I think I named him Flintclaw or something like that idk NightWing names are weird sometimes
SandWing Darnold!! SandWings are golds/yellows/tans, and can sometimes have darker snake-like patterns which I think is Very Cool :) Darnold’s name would be Drought which is similar to the word draught (poison) which i think is also Very Cool :) anywho he’s a freelance poison/tonic maker and is kinda just vibing! he does his best to help even though he’s not a real healer or a fighter
RAINWING BENRY!!!!! Benry is a RainWing bc 1) they are my favorite 2) they can change colors for both camouflage and as a reflection of their emotions 3) no one really likes them bc there’s a stigma that they are lazy and useless 4) aside from the stigma no one really knows anything about them and 5) they secretly can spit flesh-melting acid! His name would be Berry :)
So, like, story wise I would try to keep it to the original as much as I could, since I’ve already changed the characters species and names? All I know for a fact is that instead of loosing his arm Gordon looses his wings bc imo for a dragon, ESPECIALLY a messenger dragon, the wings would be waaaay bigger of a loss than an arm >:)
