Love that Chris is there #he's just there! but i am a rogue demigod enjoyer #so his presence alone is appreciated

When you're listening to the very first Bibi Blocksberg Hörspiel ever made ("Hexen gibt es doch" from 1980), and there's this exchange:

Narrator: "And only women can become witches. It's always been that way." Barbara Blocksberg: "And it's always going to stay that way, Boris." Boris Blocksberg: "But mom, if you magic me into a girl, then I could become a witch, right?" Barbara: "No Boris, then you'd only look like a girl. But your soul would be a boy, and you still couldn't do magic."

So here we have the very first Bibi Blocksberg episode ever, from 1980(!!!), explicitly making a difference between physical sex and "what gender your soul is", and clarifying that the latter is what matters for their "only women can do magic" rule.

the ATLA live action series is... actually very good??? I really didn't expect that.

#i didnt like that they changed the sequence & reasoning behind the air nomad temple scene where aang finds dead gyatso #and i think they should have used a bit more 'show dont tell' a couple times. but other than that? IT'S GREAT.#avatar the last airbender #atla #netflix atla #my bestie (aka biggest atla fan in greece) and i watched eps 1-3 together and we are very pleasantly surprised #bc we expected it to be really bad but. it's actually very good!!!#i know we were all pissin our pants abt how they 'removed sokka's sexism' but they actually compensated for his character development-#-in other ways and the end result feels very close to og sokka. not weak or half assed at all #and i cant believe I'm saying that but actually i prefer this version of how he and suki interact than the og one?#also Suki is probably my fave casting choice so far. along with azula!#speaking of... *squishes azula*. that is A Baby.

Feeling bits and pieces of Lana & Rena's story fall into place these past weeks/months since I've started to re-think about them is so satisfying.... I really wanna find something better than the first/old version of their dynamic ! (I don't blame young me, I didn't know any better back then haha) There's still a lot of weird spots and events & changes to figure out (especially their order of arrival) but it's so so fun thinking about them again aaaaa, I missed my messy girls so much

Woo did at least one productive thing today and finished submitting my taxes

#was a very lazy Saturday I just napped on and off most of the day #but felt like I needed to check at least one task off of the chores list #and actually was pleasantly surprised at the refund I'm getting too #i was expecting to owe money with the addition of my OF earnings but even with that added I stillgot a decent amount back #mostly because the state is doing a nice kickback #might be able to finally pay off my credit cards in the next month or so now 😊#which have not been fully paid off since right before covid first hit #sooooo approximately 4 years #and that time they had barely been paid off for a month or two before the pandemic shit hit the fan #and before then the last time everything was paid off I still lived in California lol

I'm watching Midnight Mass and I know Father Paul is bad but damn does the actor do a good job playing a charismatic, well meaning priest

#Father Paul's vibe is very Jesus-like in that he's a chill dude #I was pleasantly surprised to hear him mention how Jesus hung out with sinners rather than the perfect #also Riley's monologue on why he quit Catholism is SO good #I'm one of the only openly atheistic people in my family but I was Catholic up until middle school or so #and while my reasons for leaving are different from Riley's I do feel the sentiment #but I also see the Father's side as well. Religion can be very comforting for some people!#usagi watches tv #midnight mass

Soooo after I reblogged some of OSP's JttW content, I get the Lego Monkie Kid recommended posts and blogs thrown at me every 4 minutes on my dash. Fiiiine, I went to check out the pilot.

And ok.

Tumblr was right.

The pilot episode is hilarious and the animation ABSOLUTELY SLAPS. I keep rewinding because there are so many good gags happening in the background, or just because the animation was so pretty I wanted to see it thrice. This is like a crackfic with the production value of movie theater animated blockbusters.

#the horsedragon is an unhinged girl????? YES THANK YOU #get yourself a friend willing to happily blow up your enemies' houses #frankly everyone seems a bit unhinged. except the noodle obsessed guy who I assume is Tripitaka because boy has no money for noodles #sure yes I know it's not literally Tripitaka but a thematically relevant character archetype but still. I like his energy here #the only thing better than a totally chaotic group is a totally chaotic group with that one chill guy who goes along with it #I have to say it's beautiful living in times where shows marketed for kids can be so carefully crafted #I've never seen any lego stuff before except the Everything Is Awesome movie thing so this was a very pleasant surprise #I remember stuff I watched as a child and... yeah nothing I watched was as high quality as this until I was a teen.#sure I still don't know how good the plot will be but I'm definitely going to watch more.#either this will be light entertainment after a stressful day or I'll be pleasantly surprised by the storyline. either way worth seeing #lmk #lego monkie kid
