It makes me really sad to hear Anthony had a hard time with this season of Dungeons and Daddies because of the reception from fans and stuff but I will not stand for his Legend of Korra slander how dare you
(Then again maybe I’m like the only person in the world who loves LoK more than Atla but that’s just me)

if you go by the cartoon alone, the Doom Patrol is something of a precursor to the Teen Titans; a group that is more family than problem-solving superheroes, though the Doom Patrol is more particular in that they are superheroes whose powers ruined their lives, which is RIFE for angst mining if you want to go that route!
(Otherwise, ‘bunch of weirdos who have found family with each other’ is always a good DP vibe)
They are also tragic and tend to die pretty often, which lines up well with the past Avatars all being deceased by the time of Aang and company. They would most likely have more of a connection to Sokka instead of Aang, since Beast Boy was a child of the team and one of their members, but you could switch that up here. or alternatively, explore that particular notion anyway? Would be good for mixign things up.
off the top of my head, a few ideas there:
Kuruk - Robotman. Robotman tends to be self-sarcificing and particular feels like a fuck-up because of what he did to get himself into that situation, which can play interestingly with Kuruk. He’s often REGARDED as one by the fandom since he was mostly a passive Avatar, but like Robotman, Kuruk does a lot to maintain harmony as best he can from behind the scenes.
Kyoshi - Elastigirl. Elastigirl is, in some depicitons, the unofficial leader of the team, a real hothead, and so ridiculously powerful her friends joke they’re not actually needed for fights, they’re together because they need one another. My personal favorite takes on Elastigirl are similar enough to the way Kyoshi is historically shown to have been!
Roku: Negative Man. This is a bit of a stretch since they don’t really have that much in common, but it would be interesting to apply some of the character dynamics here; and Negative Man/Larry eventually has a turning point where he rails against his own shortsightedness causing grief to everyone around him, which has some applications for Roku depending on how you look at it.
Yangchen: Mento, though specifically the cartoon version of him, as opposed to the comics version, who is iffy for completely different reasons. I consider Cartoon Mento to be a character combination with the Chief, who is very morally ambiguous for ostensibly moral reasons, which fits in well with what we know of Yangchen in broad strokes (if taking a pessimistic view of her, to be honest). A self-proclaimed leader who can be very cold, and an autocratic leading style probably putting her at odds with Sokka/Aang (Depending on who you pick to have a connection there)
Crazy Jane: Korra, if you want to use her in this, or possibly Wan. This is at last PARTLY process of elimination. She’s not present in the cartoon, but she’s important enough in modern works that if she wasn’t mentioned in any way, it would feel like an exclusion. Some aspects of her backstory would not fit Korra in particular well (I will NOT STAND for such slander towards Tonraq) but handled carefully and possibly watered down, it might fit well enough.

http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/166151533694/some-of-my-personal-thoughts
Kudos to anyone who can hype themselves up for volume 5, because after how much of a letdown volume 4 was for me, I don’t want to risk myself getting disappointed. It made me get angry at a… certain part in volume 4, and overhyping myself probably isn’t going to be good for my health.
I don’t buy this for a fucking second: All you’ve done is lie and ignore facts just so you can claim to be disappointed and shove your agenda down people’s throats. You want to be disappointed so you can berate the show and as you have shown, you’ll do anything to keep up that narrative.
In all honesty, you should just go to one of the other toxic fandoms like Voltron or Steven Universe: At least the people there know not to take your ass seriously.
Look, these guys have made a name for themselves. As much as people would like to think that Roosterteeth is this massive company, they’re still just an indie company with a (relatively) small amount of people, and not a whole lot of effort going to the right places.
And yet you set up standards that not even big budget shows with large groups of people and massive companies backing them could live up to and when someone calls you out, you throw a hissy fit. Remember when I pointed out that RWBY was doing just as well as shows like Korra and such despite the numerous disadvantages the show has? You threw a hissy fit and lied throughout the whole thing. And yet you think I’ll take this seriously? The way I see it: you’re starting to get it through your fucking skull that your voice is not only a part of a vocal minority that is growing more despised everyday but said voice is being exposed in their bullshit and their credibility is tanking.
Boo fucking hoo.
Red vs. Blue was their first project. They told so much with so little. They didn’t have famous voice actors or fancy fight animations, they just did it in a Halo engine. I explain this because, if it hadn’t been for this, they would never be as big as it is now.
You talk as though RT only got famous off the work of another. Red Vs. Blue succeeded because it was funny and endearing and is still followed and loved to this day due to years of fantastic comedic timing and writing. And if I may point out: The only redeeming factor about RWBY was it’s action scenes in the first Volume. It only survived because of the action scenes which gave them enough time to develop and grow.
Nobody wants to see the same repetitiveness that is coming out of their (relatively) new flagship show. It’s starting to get a bit repetitive. Establishing character moments for characters that have already been established, introducing characters when we already have enough characters who don’t have enough development. How long until even the most dedicated fan gets tired of the same old “Just wait! You’ll get your LGBT+ Representation. Trust us!” and joins the overly critical part of the rwde tag (Which is basically just the crtq tag to be honest (HEY-YO!))?
Never happened. Characters were never reintroduced that way. Seriously, name one instance.
While I might agree with that: The RWDE tag has proven time and time again they don’t know what the concept of a “one off” character is. Characters like CFVY, NDGO, SSN and so on have been cited as characters without development when they were never meant to be developed at all.
And what do you say about fans who have stuck this long? Weiss rose? hawkeyedflame? They are all examples of long term fans that go against you rnarrative. What does that say when the few who do leave do so for petty reasons like the setting changed, the show got darker or that a character died?
Gee, I don’t remember the last time anyone using the crtq tag sucide baited someone. Or lied, Or misinformed. Or attacked the creators. Or attacked someone for having a different opinion. Or showing a lack of human decency. guess you couldn’t stand there being a better version of you out there huh?
How much longer can this keep happening? It’s starting to feel as if they don’t want to plan ahead. The recent Yang Trailer fiasco being enough proof. They could have had done all the trailers a month ahead of time so that we could have time to let it sink in, and talk about it and stuff. But instead, we’re jumping right into it, then getting the official Volume 5 trailer right after. This scheduling thing is starting to become a bit of an issue here. They seem to write things without thinking ahead of how this would play out.
What fiasco? The trailer isn’t even out yet and mind you, the ORIGINAL trailers were spaced the same way. SO if you had no problems then, you should have no problems now.
And considering the RWDE tag talks about shit like the “asset stealing” and Shane’s Letter like their hotcakes: you don’t care about that kind of discussion. And considering it takes the average trailer a day to be dissected and reviewed by everyone: Its life span isn’t as long as you claim it to be.
“Hey! How should we write this scene here?”
“The one where Blake is about to open up to her parents?”
“Yeah, actually, we didn’t have the time yesterday to write what she was going to say, can we have Sun interrupt her instead?”
“Sure, I guess. What should it be for? Important information? The White Fang are there, maybe he saw something-”
“No. Just have him use some excuse because he’s eavesdropping. We have this hilarious joke planned out where Blake’s sister-”
“Mother.”
“-Whatever, does the exact same thing. It’ll be funny!”
“Wait, you had the time to plan that, but not the time to figure out what Blake is going to say to her father? Why not ask Arryn? She knows Blake inside and out. Maybe she has some suggestions.”
“What? And have her cut into my-”
“Our.”
“MY writing pay? HA! No thank you!”
“Alright man. You’re the head writer.”
“Yeah. Yeah I am.”
One Week Later…
“Okay, so how about we have Sun try to explain that he had valuable information about the White Fang-”
*THUNK!*
“Why do you have your head on your desk right now?”
Except if you look at what Blake said in EPisode 11, you’d know from the context of both conversations that what Blake said to Sun about leaving her team because she didn’t want to hurt them (You know, the question ghira asked) I her answer. And if ypu paid any attention to anything that isn’t a white male for you to screech at, you'd notice that Ghira and Kali have the EXACT same relationship as Blake and Sun does: Ghira being the serious, driven but socialy awkward one and Kali being the easy going, joking, social adapted one. Thus that joke is to show their paralells. If you were as critical as you say, you’d notice it. I did the very instant it happened, why can’t you?
I hope you liked my sketch of how I personally think that whole discussion went down. I had fun writing it.
And I had fun using it to show you have nno critical skills whatsoever. Keep going, you’re just proving me right. I would have also said: “Probably the same way a political party slanders it’s opponent like a group of immature children.”
And speaking of fun, I think that the writers aren’t having any of it. I think they need some new blood in the writing room, and maybe get some women into their female-centered show or maybe some people who aren’t white to help better portray their entire fictional race that acts as a stand-in for ALL RACIAL MINORITIES. - I’m still bitter about that if you couldn’t tell.Â
Does that mean that Steven universe should kick off Rebecca Suagr because Steven is a male?
Or that their shouldn’t be a single male writer for MLP?
Or that characters like Tex and Carolina should have never been made because RvB is male centered?
Or that Monty, a man, shouldn’t have made a female centered show at all?
See, when you automatically assume that only women can write women and vice versa, not only do you limit what a creator do as well as spit on RWBY’s message of freedom of expression but it also implies you think that women and men are entirely different and that they can’t share any personality traits or experiences or anything the other gender. Which is basically the definition of sexism: Same thing goes with the race thing. And funniest thing is: Both women and racial minorities disagree with you so you exposed yourself as a racist and a sexist for nothing.
How much longer can the fanbase be baited for the representation that they outright promised several times? I mean, have you seen the notes section of this post for their Q&A? There’s a split between the people who are (rightfully) pointing out that they said this last time, and still haven’t delivered, and others who are basically saying “They said ‘yes.’ Now shut up!” How much longer can they keep this up? How much longer until even their most die-hard fans start to question them on their ability to write a character in the LGBT+ community? At this rate, I don’t think it can last for very long.
So the side that ahs attacked them numerous times while demanding they make a Mary Sue while demanding it e clevery written is better than the side that respects the creators wishes and treats the as human beings? Because considering you have used LGBT people despite not being LGBT: You shouldn’t be one to talk.
And there you go again, putting yourself. You do seriously think that every LGBT person who watches RWBY watches it for an LGBT character and not the animaton, the music, the characters and their personalities, the plot or the world? Because if you do (and considering your history, you do): You think every LGBT person thinks the same way, acts the same way and wants the same thing. That’s homophobia you idiot. Congrats on seeing nothing but their sexuality and disrespecting their individuality.
Look, these guys seriously need to either get their act together, or someone needs to create some competition major for them. It’s getting obvious that they can be lazy with how they’re scheduling things because there’s no other American-Made Anime around to compete with them. If someone can create a show that can compete with RWBY for a Streamy, then they would be forced to improve and take harder criticisms.
Except that even in Japan, RWBY is booming even with conpetitors like My hero Academia, a Shounen anime written by a guy taught by the writer of One Piece, and Dragon ball Super, the successor to the anime that BIRTHED SHounen as we know it. It has been acknowledged by the creator of Blazblue of all people And that’s all with an admitted shotty translation. So what’s your excuse for that?
And by harsher criticism, you mean your personal opinions you want to force on the CRWBY. Because not once have you made a critique that wasn’t riddled with misinformation, edited parts and even outright lying all while even admitting you have a personal bias. You don’t care about RWBY: You just want to control.
It’ll be a win for everyone. Rwde will finally tone it down a notch because their voices are being heard and taken into bigger consideration, anti-rwde will calm down due to initial rwde’s calmness, fans will see improvement, and the actual show will improve. The show has to improve. Because if all it’s going to do is introduce new characters to avoid giving development to ones that need it (Sage and Scarlet), then those characters may as well just be killed off… I hope to every single God that I didn’t just give them an idea.
Except RWDE doesn’t deserve to have their voices heard. You’ve all done irredeemable shit to the point I salivate at the thought of the LGBT character being introduced so I can indulge in my sadism.  You’ve all shown a disturbing lack of human decency and respect to the point you think it okay to suicide bait people and use the dead for your own purposes. You lost the right to have your voices heard a long time ago: to the point you’re finally understanding youll never be heard so you pull this bullshit to manipulate people into hearing.
Well, let me say: You could start apologizing right now and continue until the end of Volume 9 and you wouldn’t be forgiven so nice fucking try.

It’s funny when people can lie and be a total dick and not ashamed of themselves and then block me just on the grounds that I challenged, not even relegated or rejected, their ship. You guys are totally successful in life aren’t you. That is why you can’t politely challenge me back. I noticed many of the Korrasami stans attack me not my arguments. And one made such a stupid argument of Mako bringing Wu to the reunion meeting (So, lemme get this Wu is a future emperor and he needs to be protected and Mako will not listen to Lin Beifong and then Wu would have successfully been kidnapped making Mako, Korra and Asami look bad and that’s okay right?)  that I didn’t know what to say.
Firstly, I am happy KA is getting a comic. I needed that comic to answer many of my questions about KA like when did Asami become really interested in Korra and when Korra also thought of Asami more than a friend. Also, having Mike tell that they went to the spirit world to “know each other” is a stupid thing to say. That completely unhinges all the things that KA fans used to say that this is why Asami and Korra are together. Asami and Korra knew each other beforehand, as KA people say, and also I think there is some truth in it. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE TOGETHER. The fact that Bryke knows nothing about their ship was pretty apparent. Even I know more about KA without being a KA fan. And, that is telling something.
Secondly, The KA fandom should be ashamed of themselves, Literally, even if some asshole Makorra fans acted mean to some KA fans during 2012 when the show first started no one was in that emotionally, mental and physical anxiety and TRAUMA after KA fandom started bullying them. You guys are not good people. You may kid yourselves thinking you are. But you are not. Ganging up and witch burning people, making T-shirts out a meme someone even didn’t write which was redacted still the person apologised for, telling people they are not queer basically erasing Korra and Asami’s bisexuality. Who the hell do you think you guys are? This is a bloody ship like Makorra is a bloody ship. I am not gonna strip down people to nothing but bones and then shatter them because they don’t like Makorra or Zutara or any ship. This is like the epitome of being bad people. You know there is some KA fans who actually are decent and actually are annoyed how their fandom acts. They realised that they loved their ship but they also love ACTUAL, LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE. People who go through the same problems as you. People who love and get hurt as you. People who might be facing bullying in real life as you and treat tumblr as their safe place. You know some of those fans maybe closeted queer people themselves, or queer but not so vocal about it or queer and are vocal about it. Just like you. But you made a ship come before them. You basically undermined the very thing KA celebrated. At least when I DO celebrate KA I don’t forget how so many people can like it. My criticisms were aimed at writing and how Bryke handled things not people. And stop it with your catch-all homophobia argument because you guys, I have seen, are biphobic, demiphobic and acephobia. You don’t support each queer category equally. You say KA is representation then you shatter the very queer spectrum it stands for.
Thirdly, I had to write this. I am tired of people vilifying me to the point of me being nonexistent more than ships. I exist. In different dimensions. Our ships don’t. They never will. They only exist in our heads, hearts and media. But we all have to live the everyday world. I am so tired of people dehumanising me to kingdom come. Of me getting panic attacks and feeling like I am being completely pushed outta orbit just because I didn’t completely like one ship. I loved many ships, of many orientations, since 2005 and even earlier. Even before I knew the word queer I have been shipping queerly without my consciousness knowing the words, labels and placement. And, suddenly because I only criticise not even condemn one ship I am like a demon? If I criticise I can criticise well. I criticise because I want the best representation. I want people to look at a show and feel happy and validated and for all posterity. Not like oh maybe they could have done this and that. Why should a show have so many severe failings if they are standing up for a disenfranchised minority? Why should a fandom be so damn divided? Why should people be harming themselves and others? A fandom should be a place where people can rely on each other. We go through so much every single day. No one even asks us. And sometimes that’s okay if fandom allows us to forget. Why should it not? You guys want inclusiveness on YOUR terms. That is the mainstream either/or argument. You don’t want inclusion or a safe place for everyone. You just want everyone LIKE YOU and NO ONE ELSE. This is the problem in the world today. You guys are creating NEW EXCLUSION POLITICS and NEW CATEGORIES then being done with the labeling and excluding. You guys are acting just like the people you hate. You guys are doing it within new categories. How can you just do this suffering as many of you have? Doesn’t this hurt your conscience?  Frankly, it should.
Fourthly, I am gonna always root for Korra, Asami, Mako and Bolin. I will support the Krew and I will also support KA when I see it helping people. I have always done this. I will always never undermine how someone relates to a ship and how it makes them feel because it is IMPORTANT TO THEM. I criticise writing and studios because I love writing myself and I know I would do KA hella justice because even if it were not my fav ship I still knew I could not let it go off either way. Being an adult and being a person means to handle your responsibilities to the fullest even if it may be something you don’t necessarily always enjoy and necessarily always like. Frankly, this also happens when you love a ship: your OTPs can cause you frustration. This is how you learn, how you face and overcome challenges, how to grow and connect with others. I tried my level damndest to act as responsibly as I could. I wrote posts because I wanted people to debate and discuss with me, and some of you have. I did not write the posts to hurt anyone and to make them feel small. The responses I got for them were aimed at trying to humiliate me, condescend me, tried to dehumanise me and make me small. This is NOT what discourse or analysis is about. It is about trying to understand and shape better ideas and execution. I even wrote KA fanfiction, have my own KA headcanons (if people asked me they would know) and have seen Korra and Asami with other women of different fandoms. I did it because that is what I do. I have always been a polyphonic and multifarious shipper.  Yet, no one knew that about me. Just a few posts talking about KA wasn’t handled as well and poof people came at me with stakes as though I was vampire sucking the life force outta them and needed to be messed up through the heart. It completely hurts. Other people by now would have said EXTREMELY mean things back But I am not other people. I wanted to handle all of this with dignity, grace and understanding. But none of you all left much of that. What you guys left me was the option to leave. It was the “my way or the highway” at work here. And you did cast out others to the highway of desolation. Maybe, you also did this to other shippers like you. Nowadays I see the signs coming up of intra-fandom malevolence. That is also very sad and pretty callous.
Fifthly, fandom has become like 1984. It is either what fandom brother wants or we will cull all out of you that you are driven insane enough, hopeless and helpless enough to look starry eyed, blank eyed and with tears of desperation, and consciousness gone done-down the drain and say “I love Fandom Brother.” Why should things be like that? Why should we make memes out of misquotes and redacted material? WHy should we gang up on everyone and why should we make t-shirts to humiliate others? The fandom who does this can they really say they are part of a minority? The mainstream all act like this thus people who did this are part of that slander and bullying culture. The net, just because it has no libel lawsuits and no seemingly written down codes of conduct, is not an anti-materialist space. Just because we say Cloud doesn’t mean a cloud is not layered and built on things. This is not a scenic landscape of codes and faraway data. This is a space, a bridge where you actually walk, talk and meet people. YES PEOPLE. ACTUAL LIFE FLESH AND BLOOD PEOPLE. Who go through things just as you or regardless to you go through life. Demonising someone takes away their humanity: both their bad and good. Demonising someone makes you try to take responsibility for their actions, good or bad. Demonising someone means you don’t count them human enough. Fandom should not be this. Fandom should be accepting.
Sixthly, Fandom should stand for diversity. And should not go after people who have different ideas of diversity than you. It is easy to say people are prejudiced and discriminatory without knowing them. Actually, read and then try to understand. Fandom people can be young and not know much. Fandom people may be old and not know much. Fandom people ARE NOT ALL WHO THEY ARE AND HOW THEY ARE WITH THEIR SHIPS. You can criticise how they are handling something but ALL OF US SHOULDN’T GOING AROUND SAYING PEOPLE ARE MESSED UP, HOMOPHOBIC, SHOULD BE AVOIDED AND BLOCKED just because they didn’t MEET OUR EXPECTATION of “who they should have been.” We can make requests but we cannot demand unfairly. We must understand that people will take time to understand things and we should be be patient with everyone. If we can wait over 1 year to see a ship in a comic can’t we all be patient with other people? We can. And, we should.
TL; DR: Fandom should not be Fandom Brother. It should not police anyone to the point it is equivalent to a totalitarian state. It should be accepting, inclusive and loving. It should welcome all forms of diversity. It should be kind to people not shipping what they are shipping. It should be patient with others. It should be ashamed of witch burning type actions and not make memes to humiliate people, should not also do that with apparel like T-shirts. People involved in fandom should understand that being an adult and a person means taking responsibility for everything, even work that you may not necessarily enjoy and like, and being answerable to your actions. Just because it is the net and called cloud still means it has layers and materiality. It is not a dimension of non-matter we carry all that we do and say. Fandom should stop being bullies and STOP the intra-queerphobic mentality of one queerness is “more queer” than the rest (yes KA fandom looking at you). Fandom should not call out people as homophobes and other names so callously because words can destroy people’s lives and their reputations. Fandom should grow up.

Uhh where in lok was it explicitly mentioned that Korrasami are canon f/f? In the comics that followed AFTER the show aired. I'm sorry but if a chick kneels over me like Zethrid did over Ezor its not fucking platonic. Neither is Adam's "what am I to you?" Yeah bff's don't use that dialogue. We have a legit gay rep right now he's just single. There's one season left. Chill out.
And let's be honest, majority of the people shitting all over the staff for bad portrayal of lgbt rep are harassing and threatening them. What did you do to stop the harassment of a VA and his family? What did you do to stop the slander of a Jewish lesbian VA? Did you stand up against shit being tossed at LM? Quit moralising a cartoon. You care more about cartoon characters than living breathing people.
i can’t really speak much for lok. i did never really feel that they were able to show korra and asami’s relationship, and at the time, i was a teenager and i wasn’t engaging on online discussions about it, so the ending left me like, “was that supposed to be gay...?” and then again, it was confirmed kind of off-screen. here’s the thing: for lok, that’s probably all they could do within the constructs of their company. and honestly, this might be all voltron can do within the constructs of dreamworks, but that’s the issue: why? why are we as gay people constantly expected to take these subtle, the-way-she-leaned-over-her bs and go, while straight people get full on-screen kisses, loving relationships, marriages, etc? i’m over it. we should all be over it, and we should stop patting production companies on the back and giving them awards for doing the absolute bare minimum. a step towards changing that means first making a statement that we will not settle for it anymore.
also, never will i or have i ever endorsed, supported, or been okay with harassing VAs, or parts of the production crew. i’m a junior at uni for film and i can tell you that none of those production, or even preproduction artists have much of a hand in the actual story or content of the show, and even dos santos and montgomery answer to higherups in dreamworks animation. VAs only show up to do their part in voicing and marketing, and what happened to josh keaton and his family was disgusting. targeting them with that kind of vulgarity not only is ineffective, but it’s gross and wrong.
but you can speak out against this without being an indecent human being, so i’m not sure why you brought that up, unless it was to say every gay person fighting for lgbt rights in media are violent or too much. also, i will, and you should always moralize media. media is THE biggest social impact on our culture, and it is directly correlated with our social climate. cartoons are geared towards impressionable kids who learn from them. i literally do not care at all about these cartoon characters, especially after this event, but i do care about what they teach the people watching them. you have to understand that media impacts real life, and just letting harmful stereotypes play out in cartoons with no repercussion is not ok, and enforces extremely real stigmas that do harm to living, breathing people. you have to understand that whether this is some stupid cartoon or not, it has an impact. media has an impact.
