hey y’all,

i made this blog partially to vent my own feelings about my own butch identity, which means this blog has a strong leaning towards my own experience of the term. it’s going to be heavily influenced by the fact that i’m white, afab, transgender/nonbinary, with a queer sexuality, autistic, and physically disabled. it’s also going to be strongly influenced by the fact that i’m both mlm and wlw, and don’t have an experience of being nblm/nblw because of the nature of how i am nonbinary. my experience with my body and my gender and my sexuality are also influenced by my dissociative identity issues and my alters of various identities.

i do my best to make this blog inclusive and friendly to every butch i can, no matter their gender, race, sexuality, dis/ability status, etc, but i recognize the limitations of my experience. i want this blog to be a source for recognition and representation for butches of color, for example, but there are so many experiences i cannot speak on in that regard. i cannot speak on being a transfem butch, a butch who uses a wheelchair, a fat butch, an agender butch... and so many other experiences that i still want to represent through this blog. i especially realized this when i was thinking about the most often-overlooked use of the terms butch/femme, which is in ball culture by black gay men and trans women--an experience i have no context to personally relate to, but which is so central to the development of butch as a term that i feel incredibly remiss for not including more content centered around it on this blog.

so, there are two things i would like to call for right now:

1) submissions!

submissions can be literally anything having to do with your experience as a butch. you can submit selfies, poetry, art, short fiction, shitposts, memes... pretty much anything your heart desires! submissions are always open, and will run on a queue. the queue is about five days long right now but i’ll try to stagger out submissions so they’re mixed in with the reblogs already queued.

2) community feedback/suggestions

this one’s a bit more complicated. i want your feedback on the blog overall, how i’ve been doing running it so far, and what you want out of it in the future. i don’t need you to do undue emotional labor or fix problems for me, i just want to hear what you need out of a blog like this.

depending on what feedback i get, i may be open to taking on another mod at some point. if so, transfems and poc would get the most priority when considering new mods, as those are the two experiences i am least likely to be able to capture accurately.
