man i will forever be so very grateful that the casting team for Word of Honor took one look at Zhou Zishu, a character whose appearance is specifically described as Inconspicuously Plain and Unremarkable and Somewhat Haggard, and went "y'know who we should get to play this guy? Most Gorgeous Human Alive Zhang Zhehan"
like if i were Wen Kexing and i fell in love with a drunken hobo only for him to remove his mask and reveal that he's actually The Most Beautiful Man In The Entire World i'd probably say something dumb as all hell too

Announcement: The Four Seasons Figthusiast Blog Branches Out!
Since I'm apparently incapable of not wanting to post about cute fandom merch, I've decided that my fig blog needs...a side hustle. So while this will absolutely remain a steady daily fig blog, I've decided to periodically add a few posts about other Word of Honor / Junzhe merch (primarily dolls) that are just too cute not to share. I'll try to post an extra one every weekend, but we'll see how time and my work schedule allows!
For the inaugural post in this new series, we're going back to where it all began - the First Encounter from Episode 1 of Word of Honor.
I find these series of fan produced dolls incredibly funny and absolutely delightful! I was first introduced to this sweetly smiling Hobo-Xu by a fan that posted a video holding him out a car window and his loose hair flying madly in the wind! I burst out loud laughing and have had an irrepressibly soft spot in my heart for him ever since.
Tumblr media
Turns out (naturally), he has a husband, but the Lao Wen that he was originally paired with ... was crying! You know I can't stand to see figs cry! Well, that goes for dolls too. So when the doll maker produced this smiling version, I obviously snapped him up right away. I love him.
I will note that these dolls came exactly this way. Lao Wen's blushies in certain strategic areas, and both of their hairstyles. I was so absolutely delighted by the idea of the doll maker lovingly putting pony tails in each doll's hair (can you imagine how long that took?!?) that I kept it exactly so.
Tumblr media
Ahahaha! Too funny! Have I mentioned how much I love this fandom?
These are 15cm dolls, which are my favorite. I love the 20cm dolls a lot, especially because the larger size gives them more real estate for their outfits, but they become a display space issue REAL fast. And you know I need that display space for figs.
The 15cm are much more compact and all the cuter for it, I think, while still having ample space for clothing detail. The 10cm dolls are in many ways even cuter because they are tinier, but then they start running into the problem of not having enough real estate for details on their outfits. So in my mind, 15cm is totally the sweet spot for dolls.
Tumblr media
Here's the matching outfits I bought. Oh, you can see right here what the original Lao Wen doll looked like. He's cute, just not my style, and lacks the sheer hilarity of one scrunchied ponytail off to the side!
Tumblr media
Here's a closeup of his fashion shoot card! The outfit did not come with his hat, sadly.
Tumblr media
All the pieces of his outfit. YES that is an adorable wooden drinking gourd!
The clothing got a little wrinkled on the transpacific journey. To be expected, and originally I thought a few wrinkles would be just fine on a hobo, but it ended up affecting the look and drape of the clothes, especially the sleeves. So out came the steamer.
Tumblr media
I was not at all sure what the white little thing was - I mean, obviously it's a dickey, but I didn't recall that Hobo-Xu was wearing a white underrobe. I mean, it makes sense, everyone in the jianghu must have at least 3-4 layers on at all time for propriety's sake, but I could not recall it on Zhou Xu at all. BUT I would never put money on my memory vs. a doll mama's exhaustive research. That's a sucker bet for sure - I am guaranteed to lose! So of course, I had to re-watch episode 1.
Tumblr media
Yep, he sure does have a white underrobe. Good thing I didn't take that bet against myself (did I also have to watch episode 2 while I was at it? I'll never tell!)
Tumblr media
Next layer is his blue wrap robe.
Tumblr media
It's a bit more oversized than I expected, but that's pretty true to the styling of this outfit on the show. Very figure covering. Amazing that Lao Wen could even see his butterfly bones, really.
Tumblr media
Note I really, really need all of these costume pictures released in a book that I can buy, I love them so much!
Tumblr media
Now the darker blue outer robe. Again, pretty drapey. It's quite large - you can see how it covers his little feet there.
Tumblr media
His belt barely fits. You can see it hanging on to the very end of the velcro there - I had to really cinch it tight. This laobinggui hasn't missed that many meals!
Tumblr media
Look at this cute little wooden gourd. I love it so much. All the little details on these sets are so wonderful!
Tumblr media
Ahh he's perfect. I felt totally fine putting his scarf to the side since it was too hot to wear in the show anyway!
Tumblr media
This doll outfit card makes me laugh! Also, I'm admiring how perfectly styled the doll outfit is here. Those are some crisp lines! Beautiful.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned before on this blog and on my Twitter how much I love Lao Wen's gorgeous episode 1 outfit. I love it so much that I bought the costume for myself. I was not disappointed by this rendition - it's wonderful! It too came a little wrinkly, but nothing too bad. The flying-shoulder outer robe here is actually silk, which is all kinds of amazing.
Tumblr media
This underrobe is really pretty. I really wouldn't mind dressing like this, except for how hot it all actually is.
Tumblr media
And the back.
Tumblr media
Lao Wen, you exhibitionist, do up your robes!
Tumblr media
There we go! This underrobe is actually fairly short, as in, we can see his little feet.
Tumblr media
So pretty. Look at the shoulders! The bamboo print. So beautiful!
Tumblr media
Here's the back. I see I'm going to run up against the 30-pic limit REAL fast for these posts.
Tumblr media
Looking good, Lao Wen!
Tumblr media
Can you believe his fan is metal!?! So nice. The official Rua figs only had a fabric and/or plastic fan. This is so much better.
Tumblr media
I tried putting his fan around his little sunshiney paw there, but it ended up being hidden by his sleeve.
Tumblr media
Unlike A-Xu, poor Lao Wen has been skipping some meals there in Ghost Valley...his belt snugs up just fine. A-Xu, your wallet please, let's feed this man up!
Tumblr media
Ta da! One perfect little philanthropist, coming right up!
Tumblr media
Here they are, looking ridiculously cute! I wish Lao Wen's outfit was a bit longer so it covered up his feet, but that just means I need to put 15cm "ancient shoes" on my purchase to-do list.
Tumblr media
And here they are on doll stands (and yep, that's 30 images right there). I do actually have my Word of Honor dolls fully/permanently dressed and on stands (unlike my Junzhe dolls with their different outfits), so this is how they are on my display shelves. Until I need to relocate them for fig expansion space, that is!
Well, what do you think? Like the doll posts? I had a blast, that was so much fun. A nice complement to my daily figs, I have to say. I'm already excited to post on the next set of dolls, so I guess this special series is going to stick around a while!
If you're here for the figs and want to see some more of that content, here it is:

Writer’s Month Day 11: Swim
The King’s Avatar, Yuhuang, Blue Rain, silly fluff
.
Huang Shaotian isn’t much of a swimmer. He knows how to do it (he’s even pretty good at it) but it’s way too boring. How is he supposed to use his trash talk to win races if every time he opens his mouth, he gets a face full of water.
So when Blue Rain heads to the pool one weekend for some much needed downtime, Huang Shaotian lays his towel out on a lounge chair and doesn’t make a move to cannonball into the water with the rest of the team.
“Huang Shao, are you hiding? Come swim. Don’t be scared, we’ll protect you!” Xu Jingxi splashes a handful of water his way, but it barely reaches his toes.
Huang Shaotian lets loose a volley of taunts about Xu Jingxi’s aim, his arm strength, and his general inferiority compared to Huang Shaotian’s excellent athletic skills.
From his place floating in the water, Zheng Xuan lowers his sunglasses and sighs at their newest teammate. “Leave him be. You’ll figure it out soon enough.”
“He’s right.” Song Xiao says, strapping on a pair of goggles and shaking out his arms. “You could be a little less subtle, you know,” he adds, raising his voice to make sure Huang Shaotian can hear him. Without waiting for an answer, he dives under the water. The shadow of him glides smoothly across the pool, rippling below the surface.
“Is anyone going to explain what that means?” Xu Jingxi asks, but all he gets is sympathetic glances and mumbling about the poor innocent rookie who needs to learn things the hard way.
At that moment, Yu Wenzhou walks out from the changing area, a towel slung over one shoulder and a tshirt in one hand. His bathing suit is a plain blue, riding low on his hips. He waves to the team, who all wave back.
In his lounge chair, Huang Shaotian perks up.
“Here we go,” Zheng Xuan mutters, and flips himself over so he’s floating face down in the water.
“Captain, Captain, over here!” Huang Shaotian waves and shouts, despite the pool area being mostly empty except for the team. He licks his lips, and there’s nothing subtle about the way his eyes rake over Yu Wenzhou’s chest and abs. “Did you put on sunscreen yet? It’s okay if you didn’t, I’ll do it for you.” He practically knocks himself over fishing for the tiny bottle of sunscreen in his backpack before holding it aloft like he’s just won the championship trophy.
Yu Wenzhou smiles indulgently and sits down on Huang Shaotian’s chair, angling himself away so Huang Shaotian can get at his back. “Okay, Shaotian.”
His very muscular back, Xu Jingxi notes. Who knew the captain had so many muscles? “Ah,” he says, mostly to himself because the rest of the team has suddenly decided they’d much rather be underwater. “That explains it.”
When Huang Shaotian instructs Yu Wenzhou to turn around and lay down so he can put lotion on Yu Wenzhou’s chest, Xu Jingxi decides that he too would rather be swimming.

Watched the donghua up to S1E10. Now I understand where YWZ's habit of playing pen came from. Now I guess I'll wait to see if his sketching hobby is canon too.
Anyway, watching the donghua made me want to watch the LA again, so, yeah.
While rewatching, I remembered how when I first watched ep 6, I was half-convinced that YWZ really would "steal" the umbrella. Only half because considering HST and YX's interaction earlier, I thought the possibility that HST having a teammate that would do that kind of thing was small. And if it really happened, then it would be weird.
I was like, "Hmm, where is this going?" lol
Of course then i continued to ep 7 and found out that YWZ and YX were friends too, but it's just interesting to think back about initial impressions.

Lord Zhou and the Ghost Valley Master Cross-posting because i'm just that wild, hah! /jk More about the art below! --and a little talk about WenZhou and their relationship to power (+ some meta).
So hum, it is no secret that I enjoy a bit of "spice" in WenZhou's dynamic and at times am very prolific on my nsfw twitter account.
Collars and leash stuff have been on and off, and I was recently enabled for more of that by friends going wild about ZZS on a leash, etc, etc. LBR: I don't think you need any reason to go feral about that kind of stuff--but seeing how I myself seemed to regress to the state of a wild horny beast while making this painting, I felt like I may need to adress it a little. Here are some of my thoughts about WenZhou & power:
WKX and ZZS are both men who are/were in a position of extreme power. Both rose to that position of extreme power, but from very different starting points and motivations.
ZZS was, from what we know from how he describes himself in TYK and from how he behaves in QY, a very smart, cocky, ambitious kid, who probably deliberately sold his services to HLY to keep rising. There were probably ideals mixed in that, but point is, ZZS desired that power, that influence, and was encouraged to reach it. Becoming a sect leader so young was probably a shock, but nothing indicates that this position wasn't wanted. ZZS also mentioned not having a physique as advantageous as ZCL's when he was a child; so he probably had to work hard to reach his goals. Point is: the power was desired and strived for.
WKX has, without a doubt, needed the power, without ever really showing any pleasure nor satisfaction in having it. Surviving in the GV =/= reaching the top; if anything, becoming the GVM put the largest target on his head--but it is likely that reaching the position of GVM was necessary for him to execute his plan (find the key, pull the right strings, obtain his revenge). WKX was a little genius who didn't want to study, and probably wasn't dreaming/aiming for power. Conclusion: the power was a necessity and a tool. Many various characterisation points/analysis/dynamics can be pulled from this, and it is quite interesting to explore how, later, their relationship to power can evolve, both re:the rest of the world and each other. For the following personal analysis, I also worked with the following points from the book:
ZZS admires WKX's strength and power
WKX seems to have multiple fantasies of control and domination
ZZS seems receptive to many of them (including the biting, the somno stuff, and the cnc suggestions)
WKX admires/envies/resents ZZS' freedom
ZZS has fun becoming a subversion of his past self (swearing, being gross, being ridiculous, being openly cocky)
WKX is a control-freak and is very patient
ZZS is a bit conservative
WKX quite the opposite
Now how does that bring me to ZZS on a leash for the GVM?
(note that this is my current conclusion, not the conclusion)
I like to think that on the one hand, ZZS is that man who sees himself as a man and enjoys a lot of things about masculinity. The power that he likes for himself, he also enjoys seeing it in someone else's hands--he likes fighting for it, but (and this is a very personal interpretation) I like to believe he gets the most thrills from being overpowered; because it shows how strong the other is, bc it subverts whom he is himself. The power he's fought to get, has had all his life, but ended up leaving him alone at the top, feels good when taken from him--or when there's someone strong enough that he isn't alone up there anymore. On the other hand, I feel like although WKX would benefit from relinquishing some control and power, he does enjoy using it in a personal, pleasurable way, rather than by necessity. While he probably likes toying with presentations, with appearances, and doesn't mind being perceived as the wife, as the more submissive one in their fake-traditional relationship play of husband and wife, having the power, holding the leash---simply out of pleasure and mutual satisfaction is, I think very cathartic and arousing for him.
But then, why precanon? For the aesthetic bc I'm a simp for TC!era ZZS. And because showing him so strong, so powerful, yet leashed, is kind of a reminder that... It's not about real power. It's not about who, between them, is the strongest, the most powerful, the winner or whatever. It adds that thrill, the aknowledgement that this is out of freewill and choice and pleasure, I guess.
On top of that, man, I'm sorry, but peak TC!ZZS right post-QY canon after he's become the most powerful man in the country but is completely jaded by what happened in the end? On a leash? For a man he respects?? ugh
Anyway TLDR; I think it's hot and all of that gibberish barely has anything to do with my actual motivations to draw this.

Mentions of WenZhou’s Clothes and Colours in TYK
Zhou Zishu
Ch. 1 — scholar’s robes in sapphire blue
Ch. 2 — some farmer’s robes (stolen)
Ch. 18 — luxurious robes provided by the Gao family
Ch. 76-77 — black clothes (Scorpion’s disguise)
Extra 5 — black robes
Wen Kexing
Ch. 2 — grey robes
Ch. 69 — dark robes tied with a dark red belt
Ch. 75 — dark red robes
Extra 5 — deep red robes
Hence, I propose that WenZhou are more of a red/black couple than a traditional red/blue couple. In this essay I will

Gay wrongs tournament, round 2 of the losers bracket
Propaganda:
For Vegas and Pete:
Evil babygirl & stealthily evil babyboy. Vegas, known committer of atrocities, and Pete, who didn't rise up the ranks of being a mafia bodyguard for nothing. Never forget how Pete brutally shot and killed his coworker who dared to shoot Vegas in front of him.
I mean. They both kill people all the time. They even have evil gay BDSM sex. It's all right there.
it's plainly obvious to anyone even looking in their direction how murder husbands they are. both have canonically killed multiple people, often on screen. Not to mention the onscreen scene of Vegas literally torturing someone.
For Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu:
you've got the founder of the fantasy ancient Chinese CIA and the leader of what is essentially the mafia and then they're soulmates and in love. they're both willing to kill anyone who dares hurt the other while also just wanting a soft domestic life together
Zhou Zishu is an assassin and spymaster who put the current Emperor on the throne, and then quit his job by faking his death (kinda, hes still dying but not as fast as he was supposed to). Had done A Lot on his old job, including murdering children (more than one, and at least one of them in a way I can't even describe without several trigger warnings), exterminating whole families, war crimes (and i dont mean this in a buzzword way, i mean "organized a public execution of foreign diplomats during war time")… btw he doesn't feel particularly bad about any of this, because he believes it was necessary. Like he wouldn't do it for fun, but he thinks the ends (putting a good Emperor on the throne) justified the means (all of the atrocities). As a retiree, he definitely cut down on the amount of morally reprehensible murder, but not murder in general. He still routinely kills ppl, he just doesn't go out of his way to kill more. Wen Kexing, meanwhile, is the Ghost Valley Master - Ghost Valley being a place where the worst of criminals are exiled. Even in such a place, he has reputation as a complete lunatic, owed partially to the fact that he either skinned a man or fed him his own flesh or both at one point, and partially to him having a rule where he would kill anyone who came closer than 3 meters to him. But in truth, everything he'd done was to survive the Ghost Valley and eventually take revenge for his parents, who were brutally murdered when he was only nine. By the start of the novel's timeline, he put his plan in motion - the plan that would drown jianghu in blood, but also deliver poetic justice to all responsible for his parents' deaths, as well as all who'd commit the same crime given the chance. And these two men, these two murderers and schemers, meet - and unexpectedly, find in each other the person who /understands/. The person who is just as ruthless and whose hands are just as bloody, but also the person who knows standing at the top of the world is not worth it, who seeks the same freedom of leaving it all behind, and who is still, underneath it all, a human, with human heart seeking connection. So you have this couple who understand each other with barely a word, and who want the same things - who are so hungry for domesticity and for people they can just goof around with when all their lives they had to measure every step and word - but ALSO where one half a couple is like "i gotta go murder hundreds in revenge" and the other half is like "ok pick you up at 6". (This btw is why I'm submitting novel's iteration of the couple in particular. Show wenzhou with their ridiculous breakups over morality could Never.) Also they were both hiding who they are when they first met, and later flirted about having figured each other out. Finally, I'll leave you my favorite quote that just. perfectly sums up their relationship: "And just like that, they fell asleep in each other's arms, steeped in the smell of blood."
You’ve probably already had submissions for them but I’ll add on. One of them founded an assassin’s guild and killed a staggering number of people. His malewife is the leader of a sect of insane murderous outcasts, and he attained his position by proving to be the most crazy and murder happy of them all. Most of the plot involves him wandering around watching his schemes get more people killed. Together they adopt a kid that was only orphaned due to said scheming (oops). They’re terrible and I love them.

ROUND 4: POLL #1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ROUND 4 POLLS [HERE]
PROPAGANDA BELOW
Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu:
Murder husbands! You've got the ex-founder of the CIA and a mob boss and the two of them are far more obsessed with each other than the treasure hunt thing going on with everyone else. It's the world's most insufferable man and the man who has decided to suffer him. They're literally insane for each other. I think about them all the time. Wen Kexing identified Zhou Zishu by his shoulder blades alone
Siffrin/Isabeau:
I've put mid paragraph spoilers in || brackets || and paragraphs of spoilers make "spoilers ->"
I should mention that them having romantic feelings for each other is a partial spoiler?
What if. A silly little he/they guy. But! He's really messed up emotionally and mentally. Like. Constantly puts others first to his own detriment and calls himself manipulative kind of messed up. Also he's in a time loop. NOT a fun one. But! There's this jock in his party that he can joke with. And they looove making him smile! And! That jock is head over heels for our tiny hero. But! Neither of them can admit their feelings! ||Even if they know the feelings are mutual!!|| AND THE JOCK DOESN'T KNOW HE'S IN A TIME LOOP!!! AND LITTLE GUY WON'T TELL HIM! CAUSE THEY DON'T WANT HIM TO WORRY!!
I love them sooo much! They are my favorite he/they x ||trans masc|| couple <3
Siffrin is soooo insecure and I'm 100% sure Isa could fix him if he wanted to. They love telling each other just the worst puns and jokes imaginable.
[SPOILERS] -> Isa was a big nerd before he decided he wanted to be a huge jock and now he wants to design clothes now that he saved his county (along side his other friends)
Siff is just a little guy (literally)(he is short) who loves the stars abs doesn't remember a lot about his past. He constantly worries if he's being enough for the rest of his companions and always tries his best to make sure they're happy. He has soooo much trouble seeing value in himself and prioritizing his own needs and it makes me soooo sad :( he deserves to have someone like Isa.
[SPOILERS] -> Siff knows that Isa wants to confess after thier battle w the bbeg, but siff can't get Ida to say it no matter what they try :(

wen kexing, that silly guy, from the show for the character ask game
First impression:
The minute I saw this scene
Tumblr media
I knew I would love him. Any character that wear's an outfit that nice while murdering people with a fan and drinking from a flask? That's a guy who is tailor made to catch my attention lol
Impression now: I LOVE HIM IMMENSELY. I can (and have) yelled a lot about WKX.
Favorite moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a few but the one that comes to mind first is WKX 'let's-fuck-around-and-find-out' breakdown post Four Sages of Anji deaths (and the subsequent wenzhou break-up that resulted in drunk pining. Excellent storytelling lol).
Idea for a story: I've always been fascinated by the idea of wenzhou meeting pre-canon in TYK but I've never really thought about WKX and ZZS meeting again in WOH prior to ZZS leaving Tian Chuang. What would that look like considering their past history? Would they recognize each other? Would they pretend not to? (Does WKX try to take out Jin Wang?)
Unpopular opinion: In show - I don't really like that he doesn't communicate with ZZS the way he does in the novel. Him hiding so much only led to more and more problems as the story progressed. In fandom - I have beef with fics where he basically reads like WWX. They have vastly different personalities and life circumstances. WKX is putting on an act when he first meets ZZS. Some of it is real but most of it is exaggerated. WWX is just like that lol.
Favorite relationship: WENZHOU 5EVER & EVER. (honorable mention to hanwenzhou but only if WKX gets to lovingly bully the fuck out of HY).
Favorite headcanon: WKX is a light sleeper and prone to wandering around at night, doing random odd chores until he gets tired again (or ZZS comes to get him back to bed).

China's censorship of Justice in the Dark - some FAQ
Tumblr media
photo cr @ 白夜飛行家 on weibo
Also known as The Abyss/Mo Du/Silent Reading (link goes to a great carrd made by a Mo Du fan) by Priest, the same author who brought us Guardian. The show was dropped on Youku China on the 18th of February and is now on Youku International (VIP needed from ep 3 onwards). 8 episodes have been released. There is no official release schedule yet, though the rumour is 5 episodes every Saturday at 10am China time. Total of 30 episodes, ending on the 11th of March (Yes rumours are this specific).
The English subs are AI generated, and they are not great. I hope they improve the subs as the show gains traction. (I watch on the China ver of the app, but I'll post any egregarious subbing errors if I come across them)
Changes made from the novel
The title, character names and premise has been changed. The ages of the some of the side characters/victims have also been changed. It's clear that scenes have been re-edited and re-dubbed, because some dialogue doesn't match the lip movements (WOH flashbacks anyone?) This is all to get pass censorship. A lot of the story, including the dialogue, has been preserved, and the changes aren't jarring.
Seems like there was a lot of uproar regarding the changes?
The show has been trending on weibo every day since it dropped, for good and bad reasons. Many book fans were upset with the changes on Day 1 and didn't bother watching pass the introduction of the premise, and there were complaints about the suitability of the actors' looks. By Day 2 the comments turned to "hey this isn't so bad??" And now everyone is just badgering youku for the next few episodes, cause they've literally released nothing else about the show since they dropped the episodes.
Has the story been sacrificed to pass censorship?
After watching 8 ep, I don't believe so. The novel covers sociopathy and the darkness of humanity - the show uses a "nuclear accident" as a reason for "genetic changes" in 1.3% of the population - causing these people to lose the ability to empathise with others. This is actually a very smart move because by blaming everything on a fictional, genetic mutation, the show can actually get away with showing the darker, more questionable parts of humanity, without having to censor it too much. The first case of the show mentions drugs and even has a short clip that heavily implies someone seizing from an overdose (you'll miss it if you aren't paying attention). There are underaged victims, and if they continue in this vein there will be more trigger warning worthy scenes from the book included. These things just don't get shown or talked about in c dramas - even if we don't talk about the BL, it's pretty crazy they managed to get this stuff out after the recent censorship changes.
Is the BL still.... there?
There are 8 episodes out so far and to me, it's working. We're not talking WOH level of chemistry here, but ep 3 onwards is when our CP starts paying more attention to each other. There is more than enough "candy" to find if you know what you're looking for. That said, it is not and will never be BL, just an adaptation.
Ok what am I looking for?
Glad you asked! Take for example the show's name change - from 深渊 (shen yuan) to 光•渊 (guang • yuan).
深 - deep 渊 - deep (often referring to a pool, so a deep dark pool, like in a cave) Shen Yuan comes from the novel and is translated as The Abyss, and represents Fei Du (Pei Su in the show)
光 - bright light Guang•Yuan is not a proper term by itself - it's a mash up of the words for bright light and deep pool. The light represents Luo Wenzhou (Luo Weizhao in the show), the one beam of light that penetrates Fei Du's darkness. Hence the English name "Justice in the Dark" is a pretty good translation.
The new names of the characters are Pei Su 裴溯 and Luo Weizhao 骆为昭. See the last character of each name? Su has the radical 月, for Moon in it, and Zhao has the radical 日, for Sun in it. The moon is considered Yin, and the sun is Yang. Together, they are Yin and Yang.
Hey maybe you think that's pushing it, but welcome to the life of a BL adaptation fan 🤣🤣

Priest (Author) Character Tournament
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[“Anti-propaganda” is not allowed. Please only give reasons to vote FOR a character, and please be courteous in the notes.]
Yan Zhengming from Liu Yao: The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect
"I've grown into this age, but other than this face that my parents had birthed me with, there is nothing on my person that holds any sort of value. What right do I have to change the thousand-year tradition of our sect? In any case, even if the sect tradition makes no sense whatsoever, it's still something left behind by our master."  - Yan Zhengming, The Revitalization of Fuyao Sect, Chapter 38
[No propaganda submitted]
The “Narcissist” from the description - “A cultivation story about how a declining sect is restored by a narcissist, troublemaker, meanie, idiot, and wimpy kid.”
THE prettiest princess; he’s literally referred to as Niangniang (a term for an imperial concubine) at least once
He is such a materialist who is even described as caring more about money than life, but "When he thought of Cheng Qian, he suddenly felt like there was nothing else that he desired in this life" (Ch.56).
Wu Xi from Lord Seventh / Qi Ye
Submission:
My beloved snake boy!! He goes as a hostage to a foreign land at eleven years old in order to maintain uneasy peace between his country and the empire that colonized them (and on that note, his initial language struggle was so good), then he manages to help keep his love interest safe from thousands of kilometers away via peerless potions skills, then he goes and *wins his nation's freedom* via martial might and court negotiations, and then he heals his man and gets him home. Like bulletpoint by bulletpoint I think he might have actually managed to accomplish the most out of the cast by the end. (Qi Ye is a palace intrigue novel btw, so it's amazing that the one character who had zero patience with palace intrigue was the one who accomplished so much lmao.) And all this while being a 20-something borderline-yandere ML obsessed with his first love. What a man. What a legend. Not to mention his epic healer skills were the reason Zhou Zishu survives Faraway Wanderers. Wenzhou get their happy ending because of him! Writer’s Month Day 26: Time Travel
The King’s Avatar, Wei Chen & Yu Wenzhou, gen
Follow-up to the S10 Wei Chen finds himself back in S2 ficlet
.
The last reserve player steps forward.
Yu Wenzhou is nearly unrecognizable compared to the man he’s going to become. Wei Chen can’t quite put his finger on it, aside from the itch in the back of his brain. It isn’t the narrower set of his shoulders or the big, clunky glasses he hides behind. It isn’t even the youthfulness of his face, still with a layer of baby fat on his cheeks.
It’s the attitude, Wei Chen realizes, as Yu Wenzhou gingerly takes his seat. The Yu Wenzhou of the future wears his quiet confidence with ease. He’s the eye in the storm that is Blue Rain, a steady yet unassuming pillar of strength. Nobody who didn’t know him beforehand would ever guess how desperately he clawed his way forward to get there.
Wei Chen still remembers the rush of bitterness the first time he saw Blue Rain’s new captain on camera. The fans fawned over him, the very same fans who threw Wei Chen away like nothing the moment he started slowing down.
But that was a lifetime ago. Or maybe a lifetime to come. Wei Chen’s always been shit at philosophy.
“I’d like a match,” Yu Wenzhou says, as respectful as ever.
And there it is, the hunger lurking behind Yu Wenzhou’s perpetually mild expression. How the fuck did Wei Chen miss it all those years ago? A goddamned walking contradiction is what this kid is.
Around them, several of the trainees scoff, though they cut it short when Wei Chen shoots them a sharp glare.
“Then a match you’ll get,” he says, faking a lightness he doesn’t feel. His mind is still spinning. He has a plan but is it the right thing to do?
The only way to find out is to grasp the bull by the balls and go for it.
“Wait,” he says, stopping Yu Wenzhou before he can slot his account card into the card reader. A Warlock, Wei Chen remembers. How could he forget? He used to have nightmares about that Warlock with the ridiculous hair. Or maybe the dreams were about its terrifying operator. Wei Chen admits to nothing.
“Hey, no. Don’t get up.” Wei Chen waves his hand when he sees Yu Wenzhou start to move. “Stay there, just…sit for a moment. I have an idea.” Awkwardness hangs heavy in the air. Yu Wenzhou looks more than a little spooked at the turn of events. Wei Chen grins, a sad attempt to smooth it over. “What do you say we change things up a bit, huh kid?”
It’s like putting a bandaid on a gusher, but somehow it works. The blank expression on Yu Wenzhou’s face gives way to a small smile. “Yes, Captain.”
“Good, great. Okay.” Wei Chen snaps his his fingers a few times. “Shijing, give me Heat Seeker.” He holds out his hand for the card.
Nothing happens.
Fang Shijing doesn’t give him Heat Seeker. He’s too busy staring.
The few scattered pros on the main roster stare too. They’ve been around long enough to recognize Fang Shijing’s collection of pro-level accounts. As a Free Player, the only way he can practice the team’s classes is if he has backup avatars of his own. And this particular backup account is Fang Shijing’s Warlock.
A burst of laughter escapes Wei Chen even as his heart gallops against his chest. This is it, this is the moment when everything changes. Fuck, Wei Chen really hopes he isn’t about to fuck this up.
“Heat Seeker.” Fang Shijing speaks the words one syllable at a time, like he’s tasting them on his tongue. His eye flick over at Yu Wenzhou. “You think it would fit him?”
He leans back in his seat and gives his best shit-eating grin. He doubts it fools Fang Shijing, who has always been able to tell when he’s scared out of his mind.
The last time he was in this position, he got beat so badly he slipped out the back door without even a word of goodbye. Maybe if he wasn’t such a raging dickbag, he could bring himself to go through it again, to move through the motions that doomed him last time. But the thought of reliving those moments makes nausea claw up his throat. Even if he could stomach it, the part of his brain that has always belonged to Blue Rain screams at him that it wouldn’t be right. Would Yu Wenzhou’s victory still be a victory if Wei Chen walked into it willingly? Or would it merely be a farce?
Admittedly, Wei Chen doesn’t actually know what Yu Wenzhou would choose. Their relationship is still new, still healing from old wounds. Most of their recent visits have been spent tiptoeing around each other while Huang Shaotian pouts at them in the background. But even so, Wei Chen is pretty confident that Yu Wenzhou would hate the thought of a victory that wasn’t real. A pale shadow of what could have been.
The only option to try something completely different, and hope for the best.
“Card’s not for him,” Wei Chen says. “It’s for me.” And with that, he reaches into his jacket pocket and takes out Swoksaar.
And fuck it, he’s always been a bit of a showman. Being an asshole is part of his charm. Slowly, deliberately, he reaches out with Swoksaar’s card, past his own monitor and towards Yu Wenzhou.
The murmuring from the trainees and players swells to a fever pitch. Huang Shaotian’s sputtered noises of disbelief cut through the noise.
Wei Chen bites down on the fond smile trying to break free. That brat is in for the shock of his life and Wei Chen plans to enjoy every moment. He doesn’t know what comes next, but he’s been given a clean slate and he’d be an idiot to pass this opportunity by.
Leaning back in his chair, he wiggles the card between his fingers. “What do you think, Yu Wenzhou. Wanna try Swoksaar?”

Snowy Mountain Wenzhou (Handcrafted)
When I posted about the beautiful handcrafted Taolin Wen Kexing statue from this artist, I mentioned that I had bought a snowy mountain set from her as well. That set made the long sea journey over to me, and is now ready for prime time!
These two were sold as a set, ready made. I was very excited to get them, since I didn't have a Zhou Zishu in this size and style yet.
Tumblr media
I will tell you though, I messed up with this set. These were shipped in a very large box, so I figured I'd have them wrapped up in air column wrap to given them extra protection.
Tumblr media
I did NOT think this decision through. It did not occur to me that the force of the air columns would press down too harshly on the figures. So, a couple things happened.
Tumblr media
First, Wen Kexing's beautiful head (and please do take a minute to admire this gorgeous paint job) got broken - you can see how under his jaw there is a big crack. As I've said with these ultralight clay figures before, they're actually pretty flexible and tough - they just can't take crushing damage very well. In this case, though, it was an easy fix - I just pulled open the crack a little bit more (yes, that's as unpleasant as it sounds), ran a thin line of glue, and pressed it back shut until the glue bonded. Good as new!
Tumblr media
The other issue, however, was that the force of the air columns squeezing up against the figures pressed all the beautiful drapery against itself. As you saw in the Taolin Wen Kexing, the artist very carefully molds all these wonderful curved folds and drapes everything against the figure in layers and layers of clay. She did on this set too, before some of those curves all got compressed together for a month, in the heat of early summer shipping. So, those folds arrived all flat and stuck to themselves. I tried running the rounded curved handle of a powder brush under the folds to loosen them up, which actually did separate them from each other nicely. But the sheets of ultralight clay are so thin, that I was afraid of ripping them if I was more aggressive. What I need to do is run the clothing under warm water and see if I can make the sheets a bit more pliable to re-bend back into place, but I have to work up the intestinal fortitude to do that first. Maybe later this fall.
Alright! I'll do the normal photographic circle around the two of them, and then do a bunch of closeups of each of them so you can see all the beautiful detail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beautiful! Even a bit squished, they're still incredibly lovely. The camera had a hard time focusing on both of them at the same time, so here's some detailed photos, starting with A-Xu:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just amazing. The way she does the lips on these figures alone is incredible. Not to mention how we get this beautiful modeling on the neck, so when the light hits it we get the Adam's apple and the shadows of the muscles.
If this was me, I'd still be paralyzed in the initial stages of picking out the right colors...not anywhere vaguely close to starting in on the first drapery fold of the first figure.
Alright, on to Lao Wen:
Tumblr media
Ridiculous. If I was this talented, I'd literally never shut up about it. I'd be insufferable. Luckily for everyone, that's in no way a problem.
Tumblr media
The shine on the lips. I can't get over it, it looks so perfect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's easy for me to forget when I'm staring at Wen Kexing's immaculate face, but I can't forget he's holding A-Xu's drinking gourd for him!
Tumblr media
Here's a picture of all three statues that I have so far. If you missed my post about Taolin Wen Kexing, it's here.
I'm out of picture slots, or I'd just keep posting pictures of these two, I love them.
Are there more posts coming about figures I've bought from this artist? Absolutely! I love her work. There's a couple Crown Prince figs, among others, that I'm really excited about (yes, I have been obsessed with watching Legend of Anle)!
Material: Ultra-light clay
Fig Count: 443
Scene Count: 30
Rating: Forever beautiful

And yet.... another..... Face reveal illustration.
And of course, another long post, LOL.
More thoughts on the passage below!
This illustration is born from a hyperfocus of mine on this sentence:
Ah-Xu... [...] Did... did I tell you that I like men?"
他忽然发现,其实对方一辈子都不将那易容卸下来,在自己心里,也从来就应该是这样一副模样,如今看到他长得竟如自己想象中的感觉别无二致,就像是……已经认识了他很久很久一样。 [Wen Kexing] suddenly realized that, should [Zhou Zishu] have kept the mask on forever, this was the face he'd have pictured in his heart. Now, seeing this face that exactly matched the one he had pictured, it simply felt like.... meeting again with someone he'd known for a very, very long time.
This, to me, feels like the comforting familiarity of knowing, of understanding a friend, feeling at ease despite the years, the distance; the feeling of meeting a friend IRL for the first time despite knowing them for years, and yet everything clicks--
To me, the beauty in this passage is in how the mask... never really did anything, change anything. Wen Kexing became friends with the person behind the mask, felt this deep connection for this man regardless of what he could look like, and seeing him, now, his face revealed, is that comfort of, yes--I recognize you. It's you.
What I really enjoy in TYK is Wenzhou's companionship, the way they understand each other so profoundly, and their friendship. The fact that they liked each other as people first, that they connected so well despite the odds. This connection between them makes a lot of the feelings mutual, and I feel like this sentence above, part of it is felt by Zhou Zishu as well; and removing his mask, although it is for practical reasons within the context of the story, showing his face to Wen Kexing is a way to affirm trust, both ways. I trust you with my own face, but you can also trust me--because I show you, I welcome you in. This passage... almost feels like a greeting. "Hello again, friend." except they've been tagging along for a while, now.
I used to wonder if Zhou Zishu was nervous about Wen Kexing seeing his face, as I do think he's a bit self-conscious about his frail body and struggles to understand Wen Kexing's big declaration of attraction to him--sort of like, "will he still like me, what will he think of my face?". I don't really stand by that anymore, because my understanding of ZZS has changed since then. It really feels more like, it's fine, we know each other, we're friends anyway now whether I like it or not. I wonder, is he a bit happy that he gets to greet WKX with his real face? He mentions having counted on keeping his mask until he dies, but... ? It's pretty obvious that at this point in the story, ZZS is already deeply fond of WKX, so I can't help but feel like he is happy, deep down, that he gets to make that connection.
For WKX, it must be comforting, but also quite bittersweet. His appreciation, his growing love for ZZS, only comforted by this familiarity, this acknowledgement of companionship, of ease together, while he is so deeply aware that ZZS is condemned... I feel like at this moment, he must want to hug him, to keep him close, and think, I wish I could have him longer, I wish he could stay; for he's the only friend he's ever had, for he never connected with someone like that before.
Now to adress the elephant in the room and jump onto the next topic, I keep saying "friend", "companion". Needless to say that I am well aware that wenzhou have a romantic+ bond, but I just feel like this part highlights this aspect of their relationship that I profoundly cherish. And thus we reach WKX's very famous line:
It's hilarious, perfectly timed, but I especially love how I feel like, rather than highlighting how gorgeous or attractive ZZS could be, this is yet another way for WKX to lighten his own mood, to detach himself from the deeper feelings, the longing, the fondess, the comfort--given how untimely this all is. It hurts, to feel attached to ZZS as a person, because he's going to die soon, while joking about fucking and being gay always works, and it has the benefit to make ZZS flustered.
Tumblr media
So yeah, point is, I'm obsessed with that scene.
Also, obligatory reference to the past versions, which I noticed make sort of a nice movement? haha.
I'm not really standing by the first one anymore, but it works in that context!

Escapade Dance Party 2023 Writeup 2/3
Here is the playlist I ended up with this year, plus my commentary:
First Half
Good Omens | Running in the 90's by Maria Morningstar
Good Omens is so tricky. On the one hand, there are a billion fantastic vids, many with editing that's better than this one. On the other, a lot of the preferred music is syrupy and slow, and GO fans are actively seeking out vids and have already seen many of the ones intended for cons in the English-speaking world.
I wanted something high-energy to open the dance with, and this ridiculous song fit the bill. It woke people up and got them noticing the music had started.
I don't know Maria, but her channel has a bunch of things with cyrillic titles, so I'm guessing she's Russian. That meant a higher chance of this vid being new to people at Escapade.
Tubthumping by Aaronantium
To be perfectly honest, I do not care about this anime, but I was chilling with Aaron at Vidders Chat and discussing my plans, and he offered to make me a vid for his vampire fandom.
I don't generally accept premieres because it means wrangling more people and dealing with uncertainty, but Aaron suggested this song, and it's always a crowd pleaser as is the vid everyone makes to it. This fandom is also unusually perfect for said joke, featuring as it does a repeatedly dying vampire who… well… gets back up again.
Actually, despite it not being most people's fandom, I think this vid got one of the biggest laughs and reactions of anything during the party.
Kirk/Spock | I Knew You Were Trouble by mogo nit
K/S is a perennial favorite with con attendees—more TOS but AOS too. I don't recall why I was specifically looking for it this year. Probably, it ranked best out of things people mentioned on their site profiles.
This is an old-ass vid from 10 years ago, so if people have seen it, they probably haven't seen it lately. It's also a song I love, cliched though it might be for vids.
Word of Honor - Wenzhou - Hit and Run by CelestialMoonDragon
I knew I wanted to include WoH, both for its many fans and for people still dragging their feet about checking out Asian live action m/m stuff. The fandom has a wealth to choose from from vidders all over the globe. The big issue was simply finding vids that weren't too plastered with show audio.
When I heard this song choice, however, I knew it was the one. WoH has some unusual genre elements for wuxia, specifically all the central government focus where wuxia characters usually stay away from politics. The song really highlights that aspect. Those lyric matches! Genius!
【夜访吸血鬼】【莱斯特】【Young and Beautiful】献给我最心中最美艳的吸血鬼——莱斯特 by 欧阳夏右
Obviously, if I was going to celebrate the new IWTV, I couldn't leave out the old movie!
This is a brilliant song choice given what happens to Lestat. It's interesting to me how many Chinese vidders use music I know well. It's always fun to see what they do with a Western source and Western music, and I think bilibili is largely uncharted territory for most Escapade attendees.
【The Sentinel】【Jim/Blair】It's consuming me(Lash视角)美剧-哨兵 同人mv by ozakikaoru
The Sentinel still has monofannish fans, but covering it for a dance party is a pain in the butt. I generally end up scraping the depths of Bilibili, and this year was no exception…
So how excited was I to find this refreshing and freaky take! This audio is apparently from some short film and has become something of a meme amongst vidders, but I hadn't heard it before and I don't think anyone at the con had either.
It's always extra surprising and wonderful to find a more serious and darker vid for fandoms everyone associates with camp and retro cheese. The Sentinel fans I included it for were blown away too. It's apparently a pretty good representation of the episode in question.
Forever Knight Vampires | Darkness, Darkness | Gothic 90s by knightvision1228
Because I had the vampires theme, I made a huge list of vampire fandoms to try to include. Forever Knight was one of my fandoms of the 90s and very popular with het shippers and slashers alike. Finding a vid that didn't look like bad VHS transfer, however, was easier said than done.
This one won out for featuring a rare song from the FK soundtrack that was never released. The vid also showcases the main trio instead of just being Nick/Jeanette het.
Megatron x Optimus (Song: Wrecking Ball) by Mellew
We have a lot of Transformers fans, and it's always so hard to find something I can play in the dance party… well… something that's not a 10-minute compilation of explicit fan art to horny reggaeton. Personally, I'm all about that reggaeton, but I've been looking for actual shipper vids that are a little more representative and a little less likely to make the fans combust in embarrassment.
When I heard the song choice… well… no other vid could compete.
But don't let the literalism and hilarious if one-note joke fool you: this is a fantastically edited vid that makes excellent use of the song's varying tempo.
And yes, I made sure to loudly say "WHY ARE YOU ALL LAUGHING? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS VID" as the vid started.
BakuDeku AMV - Lucky Strike by caliowl 333
Do I watch BNHA? No. Do people at the con watch BNHA? No. Do antis hate this ship? Absofuckinglutely YES!
I love stupid shonen nonsense, and this fandom provides it in spades. It took a while to find an AMV that wasn't littered with not only show audio but dubbed show audio. (What am I, an animal?!)
I also just really love this song for dance parties.
Dancing on My Own - Robyn (Izzy Hands Edit) by auxiliarywardrobe
OFMD is another tough one. It's not due to a lack of vids: if anything, there are too many. But so many aren't suitable for a dance party and many are already familiar to people.
While I did find this on AO3 (honestly nearly a requirement for finding non-show audio vids in this fandom), it hadn't gotten any attention from people I recognized as an Escapade type crowd.
I loved the indignity of pairing Izzy with this ridiculous song. OFMD was a little anodyne for me in some ways, so the sleazy obnoxiousness of Izzy is a welcome antidote to all of the fluff and angst vids about the main ship.
At the same time, I don't particularly ship Izzy with anybody. I enjoy watching him be miserable, and the song is actually quite a good lyrical match for his impotent frustration.
Do You Wanna Touch Me? [Fanvid] by resurrecho
Okay, this one is cheating on my own rules. I'm sure people had every opportunity to see it… But it's also a femslash vid that is very, very horny.
This one's for you ladies tired of ~dewy flower~ soft bullshit!
Cult of Dionysus - Leverage OT3 - Eliot/Parker/Hardison by leverage brain worms
Leverage remains a perennial favorite and the new show had attendees talking,  but people often request the same tired old vid choice. I went looking for something that hadn't been played at every con over and over.
I liked that this vid was relatively recent. The song with poly lyrics was a fun touch.
HeiHua FMV~|| Hei Ye falling for the Thorny Flower by Black Flower
When I saw this vid, I said to myself: I don't know who they are, but I ship them!
AND GUESS WHAT? SEEING THE SHOW DID NOT CHANGE THAT OPINION!
Yes, this vid is directly responsible for me watching all these DMBJ adaptations.
I knew a lot of Escapade attendees were vaguely familiar with Reunion because of Zhu Yilong, but I didn't think most had checked out the rest of DMBJ, and this vid was so diametrically opposite of both that adaptation and the vibe of the big ship that I knew I just had to include it.
But seriously, this vidder actually has an excellent grasp of narrative. Now that I've seen the show, some of this stuff is repurposed and out of context, but you wouldn't know it from the eyelines.
Cover Me - A Fanvid by TinTurtle
Ah, Pros. The Professionals has the most dedicated fans at Escapade, hands down. They keep the con afloat and keep their fandom vibrant even after decades. Finding a dance vid to include for them, however, is a bit of a trial.
Realistically, I'm never going to find a vid they haven't all seen unless I make it myself, so I look for songs with a better beat than the typical old fandom vids tend to have.
The Fanged Four - Play with Fire (BTVS/ATS) by SlayerVid
People were talking about the Buffyverse again this year. Was it an anniversary of some kind? I can't recall, but it's a big nostalgia fandom for a lot of attendees, and it's one of the bigger vampire fandoms, so I wanted to include it.
While there used to be a billion vids for Buffy and Angel, only a fraction of them are findable online now. I went hunting for something not by a con regular and with visual quality that would play okay on a projector.
This is a great song for its grinding beat, and the vid is both recent and features a variety of vampire characters.
BL | Mobu ✘ Kikuchi S2 || So What by rosenana708
I suspect I found it by looking for Kei x Yaku vids, but as soon as I spotted it, I knew it was a must-have.
Yes, this is full of stupid show audio, but too bad: Nobody at a slash or BL con should be allowed to escape without knowing that A Man Who Defies the World of BL exists.
The Locked Tomb | Fences (SPOILERS!) by peachy 💕
This fandom was the latest hot flavor for many and f/f to boot. I was skeptical about finding a vid, but what do you know!
die for you / beyond evil by butillmissyou
After being pimped in by last year's vid find, I knew I wanted to include it again.
This music grabbed me by the throat. I'd never even heard of LÉON, but the soulful sound is perfect for this fandom.
Personal Jesus by killabeez
I desperately wanted a vid to this song. The cover isn't my fave, but I couldn't turn down the combo of a vampire fandom and this classic.
True, Killa isn't exactly obscure to anyone at Escapade, but this is a relatively less seen older vid and excellently edited.
BTS Vampire FMV | Bad Things (True Blood OP) by GoldenArmy7
I'm so clever.
Yes, this is mostly here so I can follow the True Blood vid with one to the True Blood theme song. Also to inflict BTS on people.
● Ichiro + Shiro | 'dope' (KeixYaku: Dangerous Partners FMV) by xXScarshadowXx
And now some BTS music, LOL
Sadly no longer online from what I can tell
WEDNESDAY | “Sweet But Psycho” Netflix Serie [HD] by SHIK
There are like thirty vids to this fandom using this song. This one blew the others out of the water.
I'll be honest, everyone was trying to push Wednesday/Enid around the time of the con, and that ship is the most boring thing you could possibly take away from this show. I wanted a vid that showcased what's actually fun here, which is not sucking all the creepy out of an Addams Family adaptation, for fuck sake.
ALIEN SUPERSTAR | Wanda & Scarlet Witch by LittleLaceBoots
MCU is still big with attendees, but it's so sprawling that knowing what to choose is hard. I found this music choice quite interesting for how it showcases the weird schtick of this particular show.
A Cowboy's Love by lilly_the_kid
If there's one AO3 vidder I will always play, it's lilly_the_kid! I wanted something for Star Wars, and I wanted it to be slash. This classic and ridiculous vid fit the bill.
Is it appropriate for a dance party? It is IF I SAY IT IS!
Boss Bitch | Lan Wangji (陈情令 The Untamed FMV) by slowparade
Everyone vids this song, but this example is particularly great!
I like aspects of The Untamed a lot. Sadly, those aspects do not include the central ship. I'm always on the hunt for vids that actually work for me. This take on Lan Wangji is hilarious.
Geraskier - Fine By Me by CainnetreIt delights me to find vids to other versions of popular canons. This is such a classic slash vid. It's not particularly danceable, but it's so fun that I wanted to include it, so it needed to go at the end of a section. It's the kind of song you wave your beer around to.

Propaganda:
For Vanoe: "vanitas promised his canon love interest, as a romantic gesture, that if she started to become a monster, he would kill her so she wouldn't have to suffer. and then later when discussing how vanitas will eventually turn into a monster himself, he said he wants noe to kill him when that time comes. pretty yuri. also i'm a lesbian and i like them"
"Idk they have such a homoerotic shoujo manga dynamic but they're guys. Or maybe not that much but you gotta admit this would be exquisite yuri if they were girls. Noé the gothic romance heroine etc etc"
For Wenzhou: "Basically in their family unit Wen Kexing is the wife but Zhou Zishu is the mom. Also there are lots of genderbends of them around but the best ones are those where Wen Kexing goes super hard on femme but Zhou Zishu deadass has the same personality and appearance - like shoutout to those artists/writers u r the real ones. Also lesbian Zishu still being called "husband" by Wen Kexing, mwah chef's kiss! He would SO be a butch."
"Wen Kexing is compared to a wife twice in the show and at least once in the book iirc. Canon malewife + wears red eyeshadow and rocks a red robe in his Ghost Valley Master getup + his husband is an emo assassin, they are so incredibly yuri even if they're guys"
For Ineffable Husbands: "Well due to neil mentioning that they was plans for a fem presenting 1960s scene of the two of them that never ended up happening, there's a lot of fanart of that. Plus, they are an angel and a demon, and both technically don't follow the gender rules of humans and many other species on earth, so while they do present very masculine throughout the show, they could be any gender and therefore they seem very fitting for this.(I do apologize as I don't quite understand what guy Yuri is despite your definition so I am guessing and have no clue if they count."
"Looks like m/m on first glance but they don't actually really have gender and Crowley dresses as a woman for a good few years canonically"
"theyre male presenting in the show but they dont really have gender so they could be wlw if they wanted to"
"While both characters spend most of their time presenting as male, they are supernatural beings without any real sex or gender. Crowley appears as a woman multiple times, and one scrapped scene included both Aziriphale and Crowley as women in the 1960s. Additionally, it’s very common to find “Ineffable Wives” fanworks, with both characters appearing as women. As well as having been an immensely popular fandom ship for many years, it has been confirmed that Aziriphale and Crowley are canonically in love with each other."
"Regularly turned into women in fanart. Both Aziraphale and Crowley are incredibly gender. They have been together in some sort of way for 6000 years. Heavy yearning. Cringefail. Divorced and married at the same time. Literally an angel and a demon. What more could you want?"
"theyre literally genderless and can be anything ever!!!"
"Their genders are ineffable and they have hopelessly pined for centuries"
