Ok, so I'm just gonna apologize in advance, I'm sorry, I know you're probably sick of these types of asks. I was gonna wait till call the polls were done, but since you've been talking about how you've already started brainstorming ideas, it like I should probably just say this idea sooner rather later. So, have you considered using the power system you used for your A Declaration of Love and in your old "Miraculous Fox and Peacock powers" post. I felt it would be fitting since these new powers (like the ones in that fic and post) are based on the animal's symbolism, and this setup could allow for multiple powers. Plus, these new versions of the miraculous feel much like a return to back to how we thought the miraculous would be before season two so it could feel fitting.
Nah don't worry about it. And votes seem to be slowing down for the polls, and I've been itching to get brainstorming so might as well get into it.
With these polls, and plans being made to change, I've actually been gradually rewatching Miraculous, taking notes on eps and on characters to refresh myself and it's just taking me back to that time before s2, and just how creative and fun it was to get into ML fanworks. As it gave us so little info we had to get creative.
Like, on artist who used to do really cool ML art suspected Wayzz was a Grasshopper before we got the confirmation of him being a Turtle.
And man I found I enjoyed those days more, as what a lot of people thought of was far more interesting and fun than what we got. And everything that came post s2 really kinda railroaded us and stifled that creativity.
And a lot of the things brought in were:
Frustrating, like Miraculous are more powerful for adults, which why did Fu pick 2 kids and not do anything to help even the playing field? And we got the confirmation he has 16-17 Miraculous on him, why did he release the very two Gabriel needed? Especially as, arguably, Cat's just not that necessary for facing the Butterfly. Also! There's honestly more powerful perks to misusing a Miraculous, why are they so easy to misuse? And according to Paris Special, why is it that Miraculous are willing to gradually kill off kids misusing them, but won't do anything to adults who misuse them? This is all rigged.
Pointless, like the potions, which aren't really "power ups" but just suit changes. Changes that Miraculous already naturally do as the suit comes down to the user. If someone loves ice skating and it's naturally integrated into their suit, the Ice Potion is pointless.
And just entirely baffling: the entirety of the Rabbit, and Alix, a 15 yo girl, being made to be the Timekeeper, live away from her family and friends to manage the timeline, which, why is that being given to a human? Who are going to be biased and not neutral, made worse to be given to a 15 yo who's not fully matured, and clearly we see her involving herself in the timeline which I'm not sure she should be doing as that's influencing outcomes. And why did they even think a time traveling Miraculous was a good idea? That power is so OP and can get so easily complicated you can get a headache trying to make sense of what they rolled out with it. And honestly, what does time traveling have to do with Alice in Wonderland? If they wanted to really reference AiW with Rabbit, I would've voted dream hopping, cause dreams are wild, imaginative, chaotic, and nonsensical. And that could've worked in ties to the moon as people sleep at night, and that could've been tied to healing too, as dreams can be tied to the subconscious, and you could've done something with dream influence and help people face what they're dealing with. Or if Rabbit had to be another time related Miraculous, do something with influencing the flow of time, either slowing it down so the user appears to be going fast, or speeding up the motion of the user and others and objects.
Tangent aside, I am going to be aim to dismiss and change a lot of what canon has brought in and just kinda go back to working off those old days. I am planning on working off a lot of animal symbolism and myth, and some details that Thomas has rolled out I'll consider (like Pied Piper was a Fox, which suggests Fox should have also have a power tied to hypnosis/subconscious suggestion through music). And just go back to those days where we were more creative and better worked off the possibilities with animals. And ideally do some uniqueness that's not going to have a lot of similar powers, aside from healing and mass restoration, as I feel if there's going to be any repeated powers, those would make the most sense.
I will give ADoL a reread (cause it's been years and typically when I get a fic done, it goes out of my mind as I'm not giving anymore attention to it, so I don't remember everything with it); and it's just a little funny as this is the fic that gets brought up to me the most on relating to Miraculous and kwami changes. Like, Nobody has mentioned to me that Juuno was their favorite take on the Peafowl kwami's personality before canon rolled out ditzy and emotional Duusu. Which maybe got toned down post fixing? I'm not sure. Either way, it gets brought a lot and I don't remember everything so I'll be giving it a reread to refresh myself.

you don't have to post this if you don't want, i just wanted to let you know I support you. maybe I'm just not in the right headspace to understand, but i truly don't get the mentality that you not wanting to create 18+ content for an au you love, even one that's specifically 18+, is somehow censuring. you are the owner of your blog and you create for you and how you're comfortable doing it? just because you personally aren't publicly making nsfw content doesn't mean other people can't/you don't like them. the only thing I sorta understand is the name thing and how, out of context, it could seem you weren't happy with the original, but even then that's a valid perspective. not everybody has to like an AU, and if someone wants to do their own version there is literally no excuse for sending them hate. this is a fandom of AUs and derivative content, to get mad at someone else for following suit is hypocritical. you aren't in the wrong here, and the people spreading misinformation about you with the intention to hurt (even if they feel thReAtEnED by your PERSONAL AU INTERPRETATION THAT RHEY ARE FREE TO CURATE OUT OF THEIR FEED SHOULD THEY NOT LIKE IT ...) are absolutely being horrendous. I'm here for you if you wanna talk, you can DM on discord or here. I hope you're okay.
I mean, in a way I can understand taking it as censoring, especially after talking to a few people about it directly, since it was a bit of a combination between both the interpretation of the name misunderstanding as well as ULR not being 18+ leading to the conclusion that it was censoring Underlust. But after I explained it, the couple of people who approached me about that specific issue understood pretty quickly, too.
And, in all honesty, if I don't really like something, I wouldn't go through the effort of trying to make anything based off of it. The closest example that I can think of where I did something akin to that is when I once tried like, writing an AU for Fire Emblem Fates, because I love the concept of the games, but thought the execution couldn't have been worse. (I've done insane amounts of research on how it truly was so bad, and honestly, the dev team was a complete mess, so I don't really blame them for how it turned out despite them being the ones that made it lol. They barely could come to a midway point for it, so the fact they released it was a miracle.) Sure, there's points of Underlust I don't like, but as I've said before I could say that about everything I like. Except maybe Promare /j (but it is a good movie)
It's also probably really weird, but like, even with things I know I don't like, I'm willing to read or look into sometimes. Like, I don't like Dreamtale at all, but I've gotten myself fairly invested in More than one fic about it and do like some people's works based on it. I'm between unable to handle and yet can tolerate yandere fics nowadays thanks to Alch's fics and them just being a generally wonderful human being, but like, before that they just sent me into a panic attack lol. Ragnartale is also a weird one I am somehow invested in, since it's like, on the surface, it looks like something I wouldn't enjoy, esp since. None of the ships showcased I'm really into at all. But I'm very invested in it ;w;.
Anyway, my point with this part lol is like, I love seeing different interpretations of the same thing, and it's absolutely wild to me walking into this fandom from every other fandom I've been in where like, and AU is just the same characters in a different scenario, while here an AU is literally a whole separate world based off of either Undertale itself or a different AU entirely and the cast is really varied and even if characters are of the same origin from one AU to another, they're so distinctly different that some of them are unlinkable to the character they originate from. And y'all made a multiverse out of it!! With consistent lore between said multiverse!! Wh?? Like I said I've been on the internet a long time but this is genuinely the only instance I've seen this happen, and while I've been told it used to be worse, y'all are super respectful about stuff here too (and like, notably on YouTube with AMVs and MEPs, people actually credit where they got the fanart from in the description?? It's not all of them, and some may be without permission, but this is still the ONLY fandom I've seen do that and that's one hell of a leg up on everyone else.) It's like weirdly, to me, like... an ideal way art should be? Like, a world where anyone can make whatever they want, and people work with each other and from different things, taking inspiration from each other with credit and care and love and not slamming people in the face with a big copyright button for so much as thinking about making something off of their content (coughnintendocough). Obviously Toby's a chill guy too, for not only allowing this to all happen, but based on that message he left in i think the 5th anniversary vinyls, adores it just as much.
So yeah, definitely being slapped in the face when I step in with my idea after all of that openness before me definitely kinda hurt LMAO. It does feel nice to finally like. Actually talk about it instead of holding it in though. Even if it's actually almost two months later now (cause this happened on like December 5th and i was like already having an awful week with a real bad birthday so that was fun avdbwvsn)
I don't know that the original intent was to spread misinformation, because from what it seemed like, they merely read one post, blocked me, and then told everyone about the information they got from said post, but from there it became misinformation, because that one post is probably the oldest post about ULR and doesn't properly summarize anything about it at all it just has character faces and rules for the ask box lol. And frankly, before I updated it, it was out-of-date and inaccurate as well, cause i never thought it would be necessary to change. But that info that i have is also from like one or two posts my friend snagged off of twitter (cause, well, they blocked me lol), so I'm not really 100% certain.
But even so, thank you for the support man, I think I'm good for now, but I really appreciate your offer and checking in on me like this, it really does mean a lot💕💕

EPISODE 5: MINA
Tumblr media
Writing Blog URL(s): @jaemina00
Name: Mina
Age: 20
Nationality: British
Languages: English, Bengali
Star Sign: pisces
MBTI: INFP-T
What fandom(s) do you write for?
NCTzens
When did you post your first piece?
This year back in late May or early June
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?
Mostly fluff because I'm a sucker for the way your heart can literally ache in your chest but also angst because it also causes such strong emotions.
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?
All X Readers so far
Why did you start writing on Tumblr?
It started really as just a pass by of time, I love creative writing and kpop so it just seemed the best way to cross them. I was incredibly bored due to quarantine and thought it was a good way to enjoy myself and not let my brain rot away but I surely fell in love with it.
What inspires you to write?
Any moment really. Late night thoughts or just the people I'm surrounded with. Music I think is especially great because it allows you to feel emotions without actually having to go through the experience and scenarios and then you can write based on how you felt those emotions through the song.
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?
Like I said before I really like fluff, recently I've been more interested in AUs like reincarnation and a lot of psychological beliefs as well as mythology and the supernatural.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?
Feeling. Whether it's a feeling of happiness that made their heart swoon or the aching of sadness, I hope my reader just feel through my writing.
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?
I take a break and step back from my writing. Sometime, being so stuck in your mind makes it much harder to write. So I stop writing for as many days as it takes for the ideas and the flow to comeback to me naturally and without being pushed. In this time I usually try to find inspiration from music and other stories.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?
As of right now I really like 'Love Me Now' and 'Nighthawk'. Love me now is based off NCT 127's song and I loved how I just wrote what I felt in the exact moment I was listening to it, it holds a special space in my heart for that. I also love nighthawk because of how  stuck I was with it. I was planning and drafting it for the longest time and everytime hating what I've written and restarting, so I have some pride in now finally actually liking what I've written. Most successful however is 'Firsts' I do love it but because it's of the first ones I wrote so there is a slight cringe to it now.
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?
The only difference I see is that when writing fanfiction you have a name and a face to go with it however everything else is the same. You have to come up with how the characters are presented, what's their dynamic, what's the storyline and how it's going to be presented. You still have to showcase emotion, action and dialogue as well as everything in between.
What do you think makes a good story?
A story that has you engaged and feeling something. Like it makes you almost sad that you've finished it and makes you want to come back to read it again.
What is your writing process like?
It varies it can be like  have an idea I make a plan on how I want the story to progress and how I want it to end, I try to think of how I want my characters to be portrayed to my reader and how the dynamic between characters is. Then I write multiple drafts and slowly eliminate based off which one I hate and which ones I like until I'm left with the best one and then I reread and either add or remove bits and go over grammar and spelling. Or I just go with the flow, honestly it's a process of cutting and writing again and again until I'm somewhat satisfied.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?
I don't think any of my fics are good enough to be the basis of a story and I most definitely don't think I couldn't write a full original story.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?
Honestly I think every trope is okay if it's well executed and well written. Even tropes that are classified as clichés are nice to read when the writing style is engaging.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?
It means a lot because it allows room for growth and development. I really just want to know how I can become better what people like so I know what is successful and what isn't.
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?
The fact that I like what I've written? I don't know but I think that it's important and I'm just glad that I do. In fact I kind of find that alone to be a success.
Favorite color: It changes but as of now pastels and especially yellow
Favorite food: literally any food
Favorite movie: The green book
Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate
Favorite animal: Giraffe
Go-to karaoke song: Can't sing for my life :/
Dream job (whether you have a job or not): I'm studying law right now so the end goal is hopefully in human rights
Coffee or tea? What are you ordering?
Iced Americano or Mocha frappe
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?
Teleportation I think is really cool, just imagine being able to go anywhere in the world in the span of a few Milliseconds.
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose?
Probably the 20th Century, just seeing the world go through both world wars, the cold War, Vietnam and so many other political problems going on as well as so many revolutions both industrial and literal is both scary and such an exciting time to be alive.
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?
I think it's fun not knowing everything, it's definitely scary but there's an exciting buzz to it also I don't think me restarting life with what I know now would make a difference.
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken?
I don't think I could fight one chicken sized horse let alone 100 but I most definitely can't fight a horse sized chicken. First of all, that's a big chicken and second, chickens are actually very fiesty. So I have to go with 100 chicken-sized horses.
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?
Probably the main characters best friend who judges every stupid decision they make and making it clear with lots of sarcastic comments but is their nevertheless fully supporting them to do more stupid and impulsive things.
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?
Yess!! I find it almost impossible that we are the only intelligence in this much bigger universe. We are just mere specs and there has to be another form of intelligence out there.
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?
I can fold my tongue in a three leaved clover? Lmao
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?
Yes! Just because it's based on someone in real life and isn't conventional story writing people expect it to be bad but actually there are so many amazing authors who write so many unique fanfictions. People also only expect it to be plotless but it's far from that.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?
Definitely, I think art is a great medium for change. It can really play with someone's emotions and really open their eyes to new perspectives and wider horizons. Art can really change a person's ideologies on just about anything. It's powerful and allows people to find themselves as well as get lost in a world you've created.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?
I don't think I've come to a point like that yet, I enjoy writing so far and maybe it's because I'm fairly new that I haven't experienced this yet.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?
No I haven't but again I haven't written much or for long.
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?
Yes and actually depending on how I feel about a certain piece I let them read it and ask about what they think.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?
I hope you find some comfort or even happiness in my writing, I hope it made you smile or put you in your feels and you just overall find it enjoyable. Also don't be afraid to talk to me or send asks!!
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?
Just go for it! If you like what you've written then others are bound to like it, as cliché as that sounds it's true. At the end of the day if you love writing, it'll show in your work and others will fall in love with it too.
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?
So far no. I've had a very pleasant experience with reading other people's amazing work as well as writing my own.

I want to star spirit work but I'm super afraid of bad spirits coming through and me not being powerful enough to banish them! Is there someway I can make it so only nice spirits can enter?
Hey dear!
Bad spirits coming through your callings it’s a common fear for every beginner spirit worker. Although, I would really like to clarify some things beforehand:
As some of you already know, ‘bad’ spirits aren’t always dark arts. What does this mean? I have a huge spirit family; they’re mainly dark arts, and none of them would ever hurt other spirits/people. So, don’t be scared of darker aligned spirits, they’d love you the same way of other arts. *
‘Dark’ (allow me the term) energies, do not define a spirit. I have some lovely companions who have a very particular energy and they manifest in singular ways, which can be spooky at times. But it’s just their heritage, their feelings, or past situations, not their personality.
‘Bad’ spirits don’t usually answer common callings, they’re more attracted to emotions. (** I’ll explain this better after the clarification)
Spirits usually aren’t interested in messing with people, even though, you should always be prepared anyway. Beware of where you practice your rituals. If you practice outside of your house, be respectful as well as careful. (Example: cemeteries are known for being places for woe, grief, anger. Some ghosts there are full of those emotions and can mess up with you. Like I said in the previous step, other spirits, outside of the cemetery, can answer your calling based on the energy that surrounds you.)* This is kind of a personal opinion. Although, I DO NOT recommend  working with dark arts spirits when you’re a beginner. You have to learn and practice before working with the darker part of the spectrum. As I don’t conjure myself, those spirits are 100% good for companionship. They’ve been vetted by the conjurer, and those spirit workers have a minimum of 6+ years of experience with a specie before putting spirits up for adoption.
I don’t know if you in particular practice astral travel, but oftentimes, spirits are attracted to emotions. If you astral travel while you’re mad about something, if you’re sad or basically anything that can alter your emotional status, you should avoid astral travel. If you attempt it, it’s more likely that you’ll attract some spirits (some are dangerous, but some are not) that feed off of those emotions. Going into the astral with those, can cause another bad consequence: spirits can follow you. You will not be able to always see who’s following you, but sooner or later, you’ll notice some changes into your surrounding area (if they did follow you). **
That being said: your question can be answered in a very specific way – Wards. Wards are basically a method for protection, a barrier made of energy that keeps in and out what you wish. You shouldn’t practice witchcraft without wards on, imagine spirit work. You must have wards for spirit work. (Here’s a very useful post about wards).I would recommend to contact your guardians before practicing spirit work, they can help you develop your skills and teach you various things, for example, how to successfully banish bad spirits. If you’re looking for something well written on how to call out your guardians, here you are!Hope I answered all your questions, and that you find this useful! Feel free to ask any more questions you may have. Thank you for asking!
