Mini VITD Sims Lookbook (Largely Alice Focused Edition)
Hi all -- I ended up downloading and playing with some more Victorian and Victorian-esque CC for Sims 4 last Saturday, looking for some new looks for my Valicer In The Dark versions of Victor, Alice, and Smiler (mainly Alice, as per the title). And, as I'm still getting the next Chill Valicer Save update ready, I figured I'd share the results, in case any of you were interested/wanted some more CC to download! Here we go:
Tumblr media
First up, we actually have something that I downloaded from someone’s lookbook post for their Alice Sim a little while ago (I'm afraid I don't remember whose at this point ^^;) – a conversion of Alice’s London dress from Alice: Madness Returns! As in, one Mimoto-Sims ripped this dress straight from the files of that game (along with a bunch of others) and turned it into an outfit in Sims 4! :D I’ve been looking for this for a while, and I’m quite pleased with it, though it is a little weirdly shiny – and if you think Alice suddenly looks a LOT thinner than usual in this dress, she is. Apparently I didn’t make my Sim Alice underweight enough! I think I prefer my Sims 4 version having a waist that doesn’t look like it could snap in half at any moment, though. XD
Tumblr media
Okay, onto the CC I actually downloaded on Saturday, with Alice modeling the Ever Elegant Blouse v2 and the Rather Ravishing Skirt v2 from Gilded Ghost’s New Woman set! I ended up pairing these two together because, with the apron, I thought this made another good “maid” Alice outfit – though she looks like she’s working somewhere fancier than Houndsditch in this set, that’s for sure. (Now I’m tempted for her to somehow get her hands on a maid’s outfit from the Van Dort estate when her and Smiler’s attempt to return Victor to his parents ends up in them robbing them for being shitheads who don’t care about their son...) But it’s a nice look for her, and I am THRILLED that this and the other tops from that set worked with her necklace! :D Seriously, so many outfits hide that necklace, and given that it’s suppose to be her wearing Lizzie’s room key, I’d like it to be visible more often than not!
Tumblr media
Case in point, the necklace is also visible in this outfit, which is Alice wearing the Jacket Jubilee top with the Perfectly Plain skirt from the New Woman set. This set I just thought looked nice on her, and made a nice – semi-formal? This feels fancier than casual, but not fancy enough to be formal. Like, maybe this is something she’d wear if the gang were heading to the Golden Plum for a nice dinner, or to a park for a trio date. That sort of thing. Not “fancy neighborhood” wear, but a step above hanging around the house.
Tumblr media
By contrast, Alice is definitely not leaving the house in this outfit. XD This is dzifasims’s Bespoke Corset, paired with a plain Get Famous skirt that I thought looked like a shift or underskirt (I thought the corset CAME with one, but apparently I was mistaken). It’s nice to have a plainer corset that doesn’t look like it was bought for sex purposes, unlike the base game one. Though I do like the “bought for sex purposes” one too. XD Alice probably prefers this one, though – it’s more her style, and I think it makes good underwear for her.
Tumblr media
Onto the masc stuff, with Smiler showing off pandorasimbox’s Azariah’s Sacksuit. I have mixed feelings on this – the basic shape of the suit is okay, and I liked pairing it with the bowler, but as per usual this suit did not have any of the right swatches I needed for Smiler. The problem is, people do a lot of muted colors for Victorian-style clothes, and even the ones that include brighter swatches tend not to do a lot of yellow. Meaning I often end up with poor Smiler wearing beige because that’s as close as I can get. *sigh* I mean, I do rather like the look on them – they kind of look like they’re auditioning for a Charlie Chaplin movie – but it’s gotta be BRIGHTER, you know? *sigh* I gotta learn how to recolor clothes... (Also, amusingly, the boots are actually from Moschino – they actually look Victorian enough when you cover up the tops with a long pant.)
Tumblr media
Fortunately, while [LonelyBoy]’s TS4 Solardius Outfit doesn’t have a yellow swatch, it DOES have a black swatch with gold decorative details, and that I can work with – especially when paired with the High School Years shoes I love so much for Smiler in the “black with yellow stitching” swatch. :) Not sure how much I like the high collar on Smiler, but this is certainly not a bad look for them!
Tumblr media
And it CERTAINLY isn’t a bad look for Victor, who suits that high collar much better. XD As you can see, Victor got the nice dark blue swatch with the red tie, which is kind of the inverse of his tie/vest color scheme in the movie. XD But it suits him, and again, this seems like a nice, semi-formal outfit he might wear for an outing with his partners where he wanted to look a little more put together. :)
And there you have it – me playing with my favorite trio like dolls again. XD What can I say, it’s fun to dress them up in new outfits! And these particular sessions help inform me of what I’d like my trio to wear in the Valicer In The Dark universe. Since, you know, I’m pretty well obsessed with that these days. XD So don’t @ me, downloading CC is writing research, okay? Okay. :p

i’ll bite- what kind of dresses would the skeles like to see their s/o in? i’m interested to see that!! :D
Tumblr media
I hint at a thing and y’all just smash that mf ‘Enable Her’ button, huh?
Welp! Who am I to deny the thirst? XD
This’ll be image-heavy, so it’s going straight under a cut, but also disclaimer: I searched and saved these images months ago and I no longer have any idea where, precisely, I found them, so… sorry if any of you wanted to purchase any of these specific dresses! ^^;
Let me start this off by saying pretty much none of the boys would know the names of the actual dress styles they’re picking out. Pretty much just Papyrus and Mal would know anything about fashion and the rest of them just sorta know what they like the look of.
That said…
Sans (Undertale): He loves a good sweater dress! He goes for the comfort aesthetic automatically, so if he were to pick a dress for you, he’d pick somethingfor a loose-fit and a soft material over any particular design or style. Itseems sweet that he’s thinking about your comfort levels, and it is, certainly, but… Well, I’ve said it before but coziness is kind of a kink of his– he just really likes thelook of you in something oversized and snuggly. To that end, he’d prefer it if you didn’t wear leggings or hose with the dress, but no worries if that’s your preference, he’s fine with whatever you want. He favors neutral colors andsimple, if any, patterns.
Tumblr media
Papyrus (Undertale): He favors sundresses. Something about them seems so bouncy and fun tohim! The ones he picks out are loose and breathable with good range of motionbecause he knows how important that is in an outfit– to feel both cute andcapable. He also doesn’t like to compromise between form and function so you’llnever be entirely sure how he does it, but he always seems to find you prettydresses with pockets and acts like it was easy. He prefers solid colors topatterns and especially favors bright colors, mostly yellow. By his reasoning,it’s a sundress, it should be the color of the sun!
Tumblr media
Sky (Underswap Sans): A-lines for him! He loves the look, how it hugs your torso and fans out at yourhips, and when you turn your skirt does a cute little flare and twirl. Histastes are pretty modest so he’ll go for a vintage look when possible, simplecuts and designs without a lot of ostentation, though he can never quite resist the occasional peek of your skin through lace. As a rule, he prefers dark colors with navy blue beinga special favorite, but he’ll pick whatever suits your skin-tone the best. He almost always gravitates towards solid, single-colors.
Tumblr media
Paps (Underswap Papyrus): He’s definitely gonna pick out a maxi dress. They’ve got kind of a ‘beach babe’ look and he’s very into it. They aren’tparticularly figure-hugging, but he likes that, too– the loose and comfy look on you. It’s enticing and lets him think about what’s under that modest drape of fabricand how easy it could be for you to just ruck it up and show him. He likestie-dye patterns and especially colors in the peach or coral range.
Tumblr media
Jasper (Underfell Sans): He likes high-lows, where hecan see your legs a little, but it also flows behind you in the back. It juststrikes really right with him, the look that you’ve got a cape or a regal train–he thinks it makes you look sexy and powerful when you walk, like a badass warrior queen or something, and he’d really liketo see you strut your stuff in it. He favors sheer and gauzy fabric for the skirtpart, like mesh or tulle, but beyond that he’s not picky about the cut or styleexcept for one thing– you know it’s gotta be red, to match his magic. ;3
Tumblr media
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): Mermaid gowns, all the way. He’s an extravagant, ostentatious guy so it shouldn’t be too surprisingthat he’d pick a glamorous aesthetic without a lot of practicality. He knowsyou’ll pretty much be limited to slow walking and sitting in a dress like this, but he wouldn’t take you anywhere that would ask more of you when you wear itand he’s happy to fetch you things, pull out chairs for you, and even carry youif need be. You might feel a little bit like you’re a trophy he’s showing off, andyou wouldn’t be wrong, but it comes from a very proud and loving place. He’s more intoglitz over substance when it comes to fashion so he tends toward satin, ruffles, and absurd amounts of sequins, but he at least knows it’s almost impossible to go wrongwith black so that balances out a lot of gaudiness.
Tumblr media
Mal (Swapfell Sans): He’ll probably pick out a bodycon dress. He wants to see your figure so he picks the style that shows it offas intimately as possible. He couldn’t care less if your body shape may fallsomewhere outside the incredibly narrow range of Western beauty standards– every curve, slope, and edge of you should be his to highlight and admire.Thankfully, he’s very adept at picking out what best suits you and always seemsto make you look great! His tastes are expensive so he tends toward velvet, lace, and when applicable, real gemstones. He especially favors the two-tonecolor combo of black and a wine-shade.
Tumblr media
Rus (Swapfell Papyrus): He’s fond of the off-the-shoulder look. He thinks a lot of very flatteringthings about you– angel, goddess, queen– and though he may notbe entirely aware of it, those are the kinds of dress styles he picks for you. Hefavors flowing, folding materials that drape over you, like a toga or a sari andmake you look powerful, yet just a touch ethereal. He prefers solid colors butisn’t too choosy about what they are and tends to just pick whatever might suit yourskin and hair the best.
Tumblr media
Slate (Horrortale Sans): Ball gowns. I’ve said it before so this may be reiterating a little, but he’san old-school romantic who loves fairy tales and Disney movies, he’s not surethere is anything prettier to put you in than a ball gown. He knows he’s noPrince Charming but he still wants to make you feel like a princess, poofyskirt and all, so if you can’t find an occasion to wear it, he’ll make one foryou– even if it’s just by pushing all the furniture to the side andslow-dancing with you in the living room. His tastes are surprisinglyextravagant, tending towards jewel tone colors, embroidery, crystals, and intricatebeading.
Tumblr media
Papy (Horrortale Papyrus): He thinks wrap dresses are the absolute cutest! They’re pretty and strike a nice balance between snug and comfy, plus you cantie them on the side with a cute little bow. He’s totally smitten with the styleand thinks you’d just look great in it. They’re a pretty relaxed fit, so you can comfortably wear them pretty often, and that’s really the most important thing, right? He prefers patterns to solid colors and really likes florals, but he’s especially taken by it if there’s a vintage vibe– he loves quirky throwback stuff like that!

Don’t Forget to Breathe
Chapter 5
RivaMika
General Audiences
AO3
Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
She was delayed at work by a late shipment and as a result it was six twenty-eight by the time she entered the parking garage below her home. She didn’t even bother heading straight up but rather trudged to the foyer door. As she suspected Levi was there, just pulling out his phone. She silently opened the door and he looked up as it creaked on poorly oiled hinges. He tucked his phone away as he stepped into the fluorescently lit hallway. She watched his eyes scan her sweaty, dirt streaked polo shirt but he said nothing; for which she was grateful.
She led the way to the stairs and they climbed all three flights in silence. The short walk to her door was passed similarly. He waited patiently as she tucked her key into the lock and followed her in without a word. She flicked on a couple lights and motioned him to the living room before breaking the silence.
“Do you want something to drink?”
She toed off her shoes and deposited her jacket over the back of one of her mismatched dining room chairs.
“Tea, if you have it.”
She hummed and rummaged through her cupboards.
“I have earl grey if you’d like. Plus some herbal options.”
“The earl grey.”
He removed his shoes and made his way into her living space. She watched him glance around at the room and take in the minimalistic clutter. When he ran his finger along her no-doubt dusty bookshelf a muscle jumped in his neck and she gritted her teeth against a sharp retort. After making his way around the small space he eventually removed his own jacket, placing it neatly over the back of her arm chair, before sitting.
She started the kettle and pulled out two mugs. She added a tea bag to each of the mugs and then headed down the short hall to her room. She closed the door behind her. As soon as the latch clicked she shucked her dirty work shirt and began rummaging through her dresser. She found a baseball tee and tugged that on before searching for a clean pair of pants. She couldn’t find any, not surprising given the way her laundry was piling up, so she shrugged and pulled on one of her favorite maxi skirts.
She reemerged just as the kettle clicked off so she went back to the kitchen to pour the water.
After the tea finished steeping she removed the tea bags and, mugs in tow, joined Levi in the living room. He took the cup from her with a careful hand, avoiding contact, and drew it close to his face to savor the scent. She sat carefully on the couch, mindful of her full mug, facing him. She took a measured sip and wrinkled her nose. She forgot that she wasn’t particular to earl grey when she made some for herself as well. Setting it on the table she looked up to Levi who was regarding her with tired eyes. She jumped to the crux of the matter.
“What do you do for work?”
“I’m a freelance financial consultant,” his words were clipped.
Mikasa knew he’d rather be elsewhere, hell she would rather he were elsewhere, but there was no help for them. She grabbed her tea and had another distasteful, fortifying sip.
“You’re in university,” he said, and she bites back an answer she prepared to a question he didn’t ask, “What are you taking.”
His question was more like a statement but she answered the words anyway.
“On paper I’m in a BSc program majoring in biology. I’ve taken horticulture as my focus though.”
“Are you any good?”
The corners of her lips tugged up, “Yeah. I maintain a 4.0 GPA. It’s easy when you love the subject matter.”
He nodded to himself and settled back a little further into the chair, no longer perched near the edge.
“How do you spend your days off?”
His eyes drifted back to hers and the skin between his brows creased slightly.
He half shrugged, “There's not much to say about that really. I like to clean my condo properly; catch up on any paperwork. I also take longer runs than I usually have time for. Aside from that I do the same things I do during my work week.”
She raised a brow at him, “You know that makes you sound like a serial killer right?”
He snorted derisively.
“Then what do you do with your free time?”
“Please,” she readjusted, tucking her leg underneath her, “I am a full-time student and part-time employee. I don’t have free time I only have time when I’m lying to myself about my procrastination.”
He rolled his eyes but humoured her, “Fine, what do you do when you’re lying to yourself?”
“Normal person stuff. I visit my friends or family. If I don’t actually have time I’ll call or message them. I go for runs with a friend of mine every other morning or so, hit the gym. I’ve been really busy lately but sometimes I like to spar if I get the chance.”
His eyes lit up toward the end of her list.
“Are you any good?” He asked again.
“At what, sparring?” She clarified.
He nodded so she continued, “I’m pretty good. I don’t train as seriously as I used to back in high school, no time, but at least once every couple weeks I get together with a woman I know from when fighting was a priority and we beat the shit out of each other. We’re pretty evenly matched but use different techniques. It’s difficult to say which one of us will win any given encounter.”
His eyes scanned in her frame appraisingly and there was something in the calculation there that made her suppress a shiver. She knew she was completely covered but for a brief moment she felt naked before his gaze. Then, mercifully, he turned his attention back to his tea.
She cleared her throat and tried to halt the faint flush she felt creeping up her cheeks. To distract herself from wayward thoughts she gulped her cooling tea.
The silence stretched until he met her eyes again.
“Was that all you wanted to ask?”
She couldn’t back down from the challenge in his words so she tried to think of something her mom would expect her to know about him.
“Favourite colour?”
He rolled his eyes, “What is this? High school? I don’t have one.”
“Come on,” she snapped, “Everyone has a favourite colour.”
“Fine, grey.”
“Oh, that would be your favourite.”
His brows arched and he pursed his lips slightly, fingers tightening on the rim of his mug, “So what’s yours.”
It was less of a question and more of a challenge.
“Red.”
Her words were less of an answer and more of a challenge as well.
She didn’t know when it happened but they were both leaning toward each other, glaring over the coffee table. It’s so humorous that she felt her lips twitch and a laugh bubbled up.
“This is ridiculous,” she fell back into the cushions and chuckled, “No one is ever going to believe we plan on getting married.”
Her head lolled and when she glanced at him a small smile was tugging at his lips as well. She liked the way it softened the hard lines of his face.
“Maybe we could pull off the ‘old married couple’ dynamic?” He suggested.
“No way,” she said, leaning forward again, “I refuse to fall into that trope. If you’re always bickering then why did you get married in the first place? People act like it’s romantic to be disrespectful to one another. I’ve never understood that.”
“Yeah,” his voice was quiet, “I agree.”
They lapsed into another silence but this one didn’t feel as tense. Mikasa relaxed back into the cushions of her worn couch and gamely threw back the last swallow of her tea.
“Alright,” she said, “New question. Why didn’t you find a significant other? Or a ‘friend willing to take one for the team’ like you asked me. You had years.”
He shrugged, “Same as you, there wasn’t anyone or anyone that would have been believable.”
He set his own empty cup on the coffee table before fixing his eyes on hers.
“I want to know about your wrist.”
She tensed, bringing the appendage in question closer to herself as though to protect it.
“Why?”
“Because it’s obviously something important. You say it’s not what I think it is; so prove it.” His voice softened slightly but remained flat, “If we have any hope of pulling off this charade we’re going to end up knowing a lot of things about each other we don’t usually share.”
She took a steadying breath and decided it would be easier to show him. She carefully loosened the bandages while stealing quick glances at him from under her eyelashes. His face was carefully neutral but she sensed curiosity from him regardless. Something about the way his eyes lingered on the skin she was slowly exposing perhaps.
Bracing herself for his judgement she tugged the unravelled strip from her wrist, freeing it, and extended her arm so he could get a good look at the artistically raised flesh that encircled her wrist. He leaned forward and then caught her hand in his own. She startled slightly at the sudden contact but he only used his grip on her fingers to pull her hand closer and to turn her wrist for his examination.
“What is this? Scarification?” He asked.
Mikasa nodded, “Laser branding.”
“Why did you get it?”
“It’s tradition. For those in my mother’s line. She has one too, and her mother, and so on.”
She swallowed and tried not to focus on the warmth spreading from where his calloused fingers were clasped around her own. His intense scrutiny was a little off putting but also surprisingly flattering.
“Why do you cover it?”
She shrugged, using the motion to reclaim her hand, and answered truthfully, “I had too many people accuse me of ruining my body without learning the reason behind it. Complete strangers suddenly acting like they had the right to discuss me, my body, and my choices at length to me, behind my back, or even in front of my face. I got sick of it. I was tired of constantly being put on the spot or feeling obligated to explain.
“I started wrapping it and people either didn’t notice the bandage or just gave me a dirty look and walked away. It’s not optimal, and I hate that some people misinterpret my covering it as shame, but I’m no longer dealing with the same level of prying and I prefer it that way. My brand is my connection to my family. It’s personal.”
She trailed off and stroked her fingers over the scarred skin lightly, lost in thought for a moment.
“It’s beautiful.”
At Levi’s words she glanced up and met his eyes again. He was leaning forward slightly, legs spread and forearms resting on his knees, and for a moment she admired the ease with which he presented himself. It made her wonder what might have happened had they met under different circumstances. Probably nothing she decided after a moment. Getting together at all was practically like pulling teeth and that was when they both acknowledged the necessity of it.
“Would you like some more tea?” She offered.
“No, I should go before it gets too late. Wouldn’t want people to talk.” He said dryly.
She nodded and stood when he did. She walked him to the door and waited while he put his jacket back on and tied his shoes. He stepped toward the door but then hesitated for a moment. She tilted her head and waited.
“I think I may have been hasty when I told you to reject your mother’s invitation.”
She made an inquisitive noise.
“Tch. Dinner. I know neither one of us particularly wants me to attend but I’ll have to eventually. Let’s stick to the work story this time but next time she suggests it, if I’m not busy, I’ll come over. That gives us at least a week to get into character right?”
“Probably two.”
He nodded absently as he opened the door.
“Goodnight Levi.”
He half raised a hand behind him as be began striding down the hall. She softly closed the door on his retreating back.
