I promised the discord that I would draw Gumshoe today

i've been so fucked up for months i haven't been able to go downtown to pick up my work from last spring from my school's textile studio and they always have a cutoff date like if you don't pick up your old work by x date they toss it and they're pretty strict about that unless you arrange with the studio tech beforehand, and the studio tech doesn't like most people she's pretty curt with most students. not rude but just keeps things professional and a bit distant, a very serious person. but i know she grew to like me over the past few years/warmed up to me a lot and we'd chat a lot about different textile things and she would say really kind things to me a lot which felt rare and special, and she let me have special treatment with some of the equipment because she trusted me to use it properly. and i haven't seen her in nearly a year and i expected her to have tossed my work out when i didn't come to pick it up last fall and emailed her to explain why and dropped off the face of the earth, i made my peace with losing that work and accepted it, it is what it is, i will survive, etc.

but she emailed me earlier this week and said she didn't have the heart to toss my work and has kept it safe in her office for me if i'm ever able to come pick it up and if not she's going to keep it as an example piece to show other students when teaching weaving because it's too lovely to get rid of and my heart swelled like 10 times its size bc she didn't have to do that and it meant so much to me that even a year from seeing her last she was still thinking about me and being kind to me. and i emailed her back and picked it up today and saw her and we chatted for a bit and it was so nice. I love her I miss my school's textile studio and weaving in there and talking craft with her... sigh

right so i really dont know what else to do here but just ask. i am a very disabled lgbt jewish man (both physically and mentally) who cannot deep clean my apartment to the extent it requires. i am trying to book a one time service to aid in this because it will never happen otherwise. i have done some pre-cleaning myself but i just simply cant do it all, i suffer from severe chronic pain and balance issues that limit my ability to clean our apartment.

my father and i live in a two bedroom one bathroom apartment that desperately needs a deep cleaning. we have been living with a mice infestation since we moved in, in 2010. the constant biohazard of the mice makes us both sick and ruins our food and clothing regularly.

my landlord is finally getting an exterminator to deal with the mice, but we're still going to be left with a dirty apartment that i cant deep clean on my own.

i am playing around with a reliable cleaning service with an online estimator and the price is going to be anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars here depending on if they decide theyre going to charge more for the apartments issues.

i really dont know what else to do but ask for help.

if you can help me, every last cent will go toward being able to afford to pay for this (the date is not set, you just have to select one to get any approximation).

So yeah this is a little experiment I churned out in a month of neglecting other more important projects....it's supposed to be like.....the feeling of slumping into burnout and then the ups and downs of trying to get out of it? does it make sense...?

But yeah basically it's traditional animation - like ink and paint on cels and composited and scanned manually bc it annoys me the mainstream has decided this is an obsolete art form and I'm protesty about it because IT'S ART IT DOESNT BECOME OBSOLETE BC PROGRAMS EXIST DO NOT PASS GO DO NOT COLLECT 200 DOLLARS. I did cheat a little and digitally cut the water and copy-pasted it onto some frames but that's because I could find ONE TRANSPARENT BLUE SHEET IN THE ENTIRE METROPOLITAN AREA I SHIT YOU NOT. and I didn't want to cut my only precious water sheet in case something went wrong or I had to redo a shot. But everything else is pretty manual. Also the music is op 76 no 2 by Sibelius - ATTEMPTED 🙃. Sorry some notes are just SO QUIET but it's good enough it's whatever. My level of piano skill is like. Not professional by any stretch of the imagination and this is good enough for me

Oh and backgrounds are generally various kinds of charcoal with ink

anyway hope you at least found my project interesting thanks for watching

(actually not to make it weird but my whole life has led up to me trying this and I blame Joe Murray for making me want to be an animator when I was a little kid and I always wanted to try this kind and now I finally had the time and money and enough drawing skills to try it so yeah it's not like fuckin Disney or whatever but I am happy I got to make it exist. feels like I checked a thing off my bucket list)
