All Slade got to do, before his body slammed against nearest wall, air knocked out of his lungs, was turn his head just enough to see red and blue blur. It took just a second, maybe less, and then he was looking right into glowing red eyes of Superman.

"The fuck" he grunted trying to remember when was the last time he pissed the alien off.

"Don't act like you don't know, Deathstroke" Superman hissed pushing just a little harder. "I've warned first time you laid hands on Nightwing - hurt him and you're a deadman."

Slade felt his irritation raising.

"Care to tell me how exactly have I hurt Dick recently?"

"You have some nerve" alien snarled but Slade held his gaze "acting like that when bruises on his face have yet to fade!"

Ah. That explains a lot.

"I know it wasn't a patrol" Superman continued "but his refusal to admit what really happend says enough!"

Apprently it doesn't explain enough to Big Blue.

"Of course it didn't happen on patrol" Maybe I could've protected him better if it happend on patrol, Slade thought, maybe I'd know what to do now. "And it certainly didn't happen when he was with me. If you really want to know the truth, though, maybe you should ask the Bat."

Oh oh and think about this: Clark doesnt believe Slade because: 1) it's Deathstoke, his word doesnt mean much to Clark, and 2) Bruce would ever hurt Dick, right? So he grits his teeth and swings his arm back to put Slade through the wall when suddenly Dick enters the room.

He tries to push Superman away from his boyfriend and Clark lets him but he still doesnt take his eyes off of Slade. Dick is annoyed at him and Clark can't believe it because how can Dick protects someone who just abuse him?? So they start arguing. Clark gets angry and he starts yelling and Dick flinches away from /him/ and curls towards /Deathstoke fucking Terminator/, as if seeking the comfort from the mercenary.

Clark stops mid-sentence. Maybe, he thinks looking at the way Slade wraps his arms protectively around Dick and how Dick relax from the hold, maybe Slade wasn't lying after all.

He bows his head, as close to an apology he will ever say to a man like Slade, and leaves to have a talk with Bruce.
