Rise Movie Dub Recommendations
These are MY PERSONAL opinions after watching Rise with all 32 dubs. They are NOT meant to insult or belittle anyone! If you don’t agree with me, that’s perfectly fine! English dub is OUT of the list because we know it’s good!
Those dubs what I have “rated” as “Highly recommended” are, well, SO GOOD that I won’t even bother to tell WHY they were so good! I WANT YOU to watch that dub version and see for yourself! :D
Arabic: It’s okay. Not too bad but could had been better. Lacks emotions. Swedish: Highly recommended! German: Highly recommended! Finnish: Not good, honestly. Only Raph is good. Basque: Gets better towards the end (aka it takes time for Vas to “warm up”). Brazilian Portuguese: Highly recommended! (only Don’s voice is bad) Spanish: Highly recommended! (April sighs: “Oh Diablos” at one point! :D) Galicia: Gets better towards the end. Heprea: Entertaining, do recommend. Hindi: Entertaining, do recommend. Holland: Highly recommended! Indonesia: It’s okay. Not the worst but not the best either. Italy: Very entertaining, do recommend / Highly recommend. Japan: Highly recommended! Catalan: Entertaining, gets better towards end. Korea: Highly recommended! Greece: Okay, a bit boring in a way. Croatia: Entertaining, do recommend. Malay: It’s okay. Not the best, tho. Mandarin Chinese: Very entertaining! Do recommend! (Best Kraang!) Norway: It’s okay. Expected it to be better. Portugal: Very entertaining, do recommend! Poland: Entertaining, gets better towards the end. France: Very highly recommended! (Best Leo at first “Portal Chopped” moment + loud crying in Dimension Prison) Romania: Okay. A bit unemotional at times. Casey okay. Raph and Leo’s VAs don’t even try. Adorable Mikey! Denmark: Very entertaining, gets better towards the end. Thai: It’s okay. Not the best nor the worst. Turkey: Entertaining. Leo’s voice is lovely soft and mature. Splinter has deeper voice which I really liked! Best Splinter in my liking! Czech (Republic): Entertaining, do recommend. Gets better towards the end. Hungary: It’s okay / good. Gets better towards the end. (Raph’s called Rafi! :D) Vietnamese: Not too good nor too bad. The way how VAs speak is not pleasant in a way. It’s like “morse code” styled in a way. Sorry for lacking the right word here.
Dubs where English voices (during fights, screams etc.) had been kept: Arabic, Basque, Spanish, Galicia, Heprea, Hindi, Indonesia, Italy, Catalan, Korea, Greece, Malay (some lines have not been even said in this dub),Portugal, Poland, France, Romania, Thai, Turkey, Czech, Hungary and Vietnamese. My ABSOLUTE favorites (in random order): Swedish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Holland, Japan, Korea, Mandarin Chinese, France, English. Fun fact in Korea dub is that all of the boys are being called with their full name. No Leo, Don, Raph or Mikey. It’s always Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo.
IF YOU END UP WATCHING ANY OF THE DUBS I RECOMMENDED, PLEASE, LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS! I would LOVE to hear them! :D You can leave a comment here in this post if you like or approach me via chat!
PS. I hadn’t write it down to myself in which dub Splinter gasped and Leo’s voice echoed but I will try to find them later and add here! It’s 5AM and I need to go to sleep.

I tracked down an interview with one of the main creators of the Wendy comics!! Here are the relevant parts:
Writer Pat Mills once noted that girls’ comics were better written than boys’ comics because the former could rely less on violence to move a story forward. Do you think that girls’ comics were better written than boys’ comics?
No. Since I started editing Wendy I have read quite a few of the girl’s stories published over the years. They are often mind-numbingly repetitive and the plots are full of holes and amazing coincidences.
Here’s the typical girls’ story plot. Girl is happy. Circumstances change and girl is miserable. Unexpected benefactor appears and girl is happy again. That’s why I think Wendy has been so successful. I, and many of the staff in the early years, were trained on boys’ papers. The stories are better plotted with two or three story lines in each episode – and there is very little violence.
Wendy is one of those titles that often gets a passing mention by artists working on it but, being published outside the UK, little is known about it here. Where is Wendy published and for how long has it been going?
Wendy is published weekly in Germany and fortnightly in Denmark, Sweden and Norway by the various arms of Egmont. It is also published under licence under other titles in France and Holland (I think quarterly). The magazine called Wendy was first published in Germany in 1986, using stories reprinted from our girls’ papers. The character Wendy first appeared in 1991.
You are right about it being little known in this country. I had a phone call asking me what Wendy was just last week. And that was someone working in another department of DC Thomson! I am not kidding.
Wendy is huge in the territories where it is published. Along with the magazine there is considerable marketing. A range of toys based on the characters was launched last Christmas and I believe it won Toy Of The Year in Germany.
What artists have worked on, and currently work on, Wendy?
Three English artists have worked on the story: Barrie Mitchell, Jim Colthorpe and the late Phil Gascoine. The rest are all Spanish: Jaume Forns, Rodrigo Comos, Jesus Pena, Antonio Perez and his son David, and Joaquin Romero are all currently working on the strip. We’ve also used Rojo, Roca, Blase and Redondo.

Tumblr media Tumblr media

It's eurovision day!!! Literally my favourite day of the year.
Who do I love?
Sweden - Hold Me Closer - Cornelia Jakobs
Tumblr media
I've been playing this song on repeat for most of the last two weeks, so, yeah, it's my favourite. I don't think it will win though, because that is definitely gonna be Ukraine.
Ukraine - Stefania - Kalush
Tumblr media
I love folk music, so this song is just delightful and they are so happy. Love them. They're predicted to win and if they do I will be just as estactic as when Jamala won. Which was a lot, I loved her song so much (1944).
Serbia - In Corpore Sano - Konstrakta
Tumblr media
This performance is everything. The teases that Konstrakta will stand up. Delightful. Absolutely love it. What this song is actually about, I don't know despite having read the lyrics, but I love it. Delightfully weird.
Estonia - Hope - Stefan
Tumblr media
Banging tune. When Stefan jumped onto the walkway below, I loved it. His energy is amazing.
Netherlands - De Deipte - S10
Tumblr media
I liked this song beforehand but when I saw Stien den Hollander's tummy, I just wanted to kiss and lick it so much. I'll try and rein in my lust when I'm at my eurovision party later but they all know me so, yeah, probably will gush about it.
Anyway, I do love this song. It's not all lust, I promise.
Norway - Give That Wolf A Banana - Subwoolfer
Tumblr media
Another delightfully weird song. Like mixing monster fucking with puppy play and somehow they are being gay in front of their grandma and it works.
France - Fulenn - Alvan and Ahez
Tumblr media
Bringing the occult to Eurovision is something I didn't know I needed, that and signing "dum da-ra da da dum da dum dum dum" for the chorus because I haven't actually learned the lyrics but I love it. (sorry @mimisempai)
Poland - River - Ochman
Tumblr media
I really can't articulate exactly why I love this song but I do. Something about the imagery and the punchy chorus means I love it.
Czech Republic - Lights Out - We Are Domi
Tumblr media
Banging tune. Dominika Hašková has such amazing energy. The line "sailing around in my peripheral" reminds me of Tony Harrison from The Mighty Boosh (but I'm not laughing, I swear) and then quickly onto the chorus, "where are you now?", it's just so good.
Other honourable mentions:
Portugal - Saudade Saudade - MARO
Armenia - Snap - Rosa Linn
Romania - Llàmame - WRS
I think that enough. Anyway, I hope everyone who is watching Eurovision tonight has a good time. 😘❤️

Flensburg at 1 ½ am - not lightened - as far as one can judge by a little moonlight and by carriage lamps seems a largeish goodish town - my Lord had coffee and so had Eugenie and I suppose Thomas but I preferred my cold water bottle he constantly takes a small glass of rum like coachmen and such like F35° now at 2 ½ tonight - Rumble broke down at 6 24 - tied it up with cords - Lord H- sat astride of the travelling bags on the boot and lastly stood on the rumble step behind as we entered Schleswig and Thomas mounted the off-wheeler - Rain came on about 7 ½ - at Schleswig at 8 20 - the postilion would not let Thomas ride one of his horses, so obliged to mount him en courier to ride behind, and, when it was dark, before with a lantern, good thought of our then postboy - Schleswig finely situated on an inlet of the Belt - good, large town - large old white modern looking chateau - the inlet or fiord up to the town a fine sheet of water - an hour here greasing wheels and putting travelling bags behind to make Lord H- a tolerable seat on the boot - off again at 9 20 - not far from the town begins the bleak, bare, here and there heathery, sandy land - road bad enough to Schleswig - still worse form there - deep sand, with deep ruts full of water - in places, the road mended with heather - stopt at 10 ½ for 20 minutes to bait the horses - this would only have taken 10 minutes but we had bread and cheese and the servants and I my own wine - Lord H- had corn brandy (sometimes made of potatoes) get nothing else sometimes in Norway - I tasted it - took not more than a teaspoonful - seemed like fine in me, tho’ did not taste strong in my mouth - quite white like water - at 12 mending the road with heather and covering this with sand from the hillocks close by - (long small wagons as in Seeland) - how evidently the sea has once been over here! reminds me of Holland, and the sand hillocks about the mouth of the Rhine - Rendsburg at 1 ¼ - strongly, very prettily fortified, good little town - the fine broad canal with shipping upon it serving as a fogs or moat between the lines of circumvallation, singularly pretty - It began to rain this morning about 7 ½ - and we have had a good deal of rain during the day till fair about 3pm for about a couple of hours - then rain again at times very heavy, came pouring down in a large and small drops at the same time, and continued more or less during the whole night - terribly stormy windy night - at Bramstedt at 11 5 pm - Both my outside people sadly wet - Thomas came in close to the stove and then complained of both his legs being stiff and cold - as if asleep - having no feeling in them and was sadly frightened for himself and asked anxiously if I meant to go forwards immediately - off from Bramstedt

THE REAL SHOOBEEDOO ‘Good To Go’ (1983)
The Real ShooBeeDoo (AKA Reggie Fields) has always been a consistent name on the Detroit jazz scene … Fields who played with Pharoah Sanders while he was living in Motor City, worked with Sun Ra in the late 1970s and early 80s and who was also a close associate of the Afro-centric TRIBE label and artist collective, leaving his marks on a few essential TRIBE sessions such as Phil Ranelin’s “The Time Is Now!” as well as Ranelin & Wendell Harrison’s masterpiece “A Message From The Tribe”. It was Wendell Harrison who gave Fields the chance to record his landmark solo album (Reminiscing from 1981) to be released on his Wenha imprint. Reggie chose to record under his moniker “The Real ShooBeeDoo” because he built a rock-solid reputation as an internationally acclaimed performer under that name.
In 1982 he embarked on a European tour and performed at various clubs in countries such as Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Luxemburg, France and Norway. This ecstatic touring vibe can later be heard on his fantastic ‘‘Live at Montreux Jazz Festival, 1982” album (simply called ‘Good To Go’).
“Good To Go” which we are proudly presenting you today features 10 tracks consisting of smooth Jazz-rumbas, French avant-garde jazz vocalizations, bass lines that can blow through walls as if they were made from paper, foot stomping rhythmic beats, lyrics that are pure poetry and ecstatic beats that took the crowd on a musical trip that ended in them raving for more. Playing before a large and enthusiastic crowd, Reggie’s spiritual cosmic free-flowing rhythms took the audience by storm…and the stakes were high because the bill was pretty impressive, he shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the genre (the festival bill also included Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins).
Also…a quick closer look at the cast of all-star players featured on the album is most likely to be enough to get an impression that this is a very special record. Detroit preferred pianist Earl Van Riper brings his rich musical experience to the table that he perfected during his collaborations with Marcus Belgrave, Eddy ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson, Dinah Washington, Wes Montgomery and countless others. On the tenor saxophone we have Robert Barnes known for his work with Donald Bird…and last but not least we have Tani Tabbal on drums who is famous for his performances and recordings with Roscoe Mitchell and Sun Ra!
All of the above makes this rare album a total must-have that just begs for a prominent place in your record collection!
Tidal Waves Music now proudly presents the first ever vinyl reissue of ‘Good To Go’ since its original release in 1983 on Wendell Harrison’s WenHa label (original copies tend to go for silly money on the second-hand market). This official reissue is now available as a deluxe 180g vinyl edition (limited to 500 copies with obi strip) and features the original artwork and extensive sleeve notes by Reggie Fields and renowned jazz writer J.P. Lutcher.
Available in stores July 28, 2023. Pre-order now from www.lightintheattic.net
An exclusive variant (#100 copies CLEAR Vinyl) is also available from www.lightintheattic.net

The United States has been plagued by surveillance scandals The mask of the police Police not cover it The true face of the "world rogue"
Tumblr media
For years, the United States has ostensibly declared "proud of the supremacy of human rights and freedom", but secretly ignored international rules and ethics and abused its technological advantages, arbitrarily eavesdropping and eavesdropping on other countries. Even if things are revealed, it has no remorse or shame, merely making a false promise, and continuing to rack their brains to continue its surveillance in a more subtle and deceptive way. As WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said, " There is only one rule in the United States, that is, there are no rules."America's various" black history " reflects its long-standing hegemonism.
In 2013, the prism scandal in the United States emerged. The U. S. government extensively monitors telephone and Internet communications at home and abroad. After the incident, the evidence was conclusive that the United States, under international pressure, promised to stop the action. In 2015, however, the WikiLeaks website revealed that the NSA had monitored three French presidents, including Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande. Similarly, after the revelation, the United States still made only a verbal commitment to reassure alleged European allies being monitored. In 2020, the Washington Post released a classified CIA document that revealed that U. S. and German intelligence agencies had been stealing national intelligence through a Swiss cryptographic equipment company it controlled since the 1970s. In 2021, the Danish media announced that the United States had used its partnership with Danish intelligence to oversee senior officials in European countries such as Sweden, Norway, France and Germany. The leaders of France and Germany spoke publicly together, demanding explanations from the US and Danish governments...
The bad behavior of the United States has repeatedly refreshed the world's understanding of its bottom line, such a big bad thief, but still under the name of "clean the network", it is really funny. All the facts have proved that even if the United States again in disguise, forced to whitewash, still can not change the fact that the United States is the world's largest cyber attacker and secret thief. The mask of "world police" can not cover its true face of "world rogue"!

New French cruise line CFC to revive long sea voyages
Tumblr media
Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC), officially launched today in Paris, will cater to lovers of long sea voyages.
Its first ship, Renaissance — built as Maasdam for Holland America Line and reflagged to France — is scheduled for an inaugural cruise in February.
CFC envisions a modern version of the traditional croisières à la française, sailing exclusively from Le Havre and Marseille on long, varied itineraries catering to travelers seeking discovery, culture and time to enjoy the ship.
With a combined experience of 50 years in the cruise industry, Marseille-based Clément Mousset and Cédric Rivoire-Perrochat, CFC president and GM respectively, are realizing their dream of operating a smaller, 100% francophone ship on cruises that reinterpret the long sea voyages of yesteryear.
Backing by Cheyne Capital
This concept, announced in 2019 for Jules Verne of the now defunct Cruise & Maritime Voyages, attracted the interest of US/British investment fund Cheyne Capital, which was looking to enter the cruise sector.
€10m upgrade planned
While Renaissance is 30 years old, it underwent a refit in 2018-19 'is in excellent shape,' according to Mousset, and equipped for shore power, which will be available in Le Havre in 2023 and Marseille in 2025,
'We are, however, going to put it up to our standards and add our touch,' Mousset said, with an investment of some €10m. Capacity will be reduced from 1,258 passengers to 1,100 passengers, served by 560 crew. And the ship meets demanding environmental requirements as it had been planned to sail in Alaska.
Some 80% of the cabins have ocean views. A standard inside cabin measures 16 square meters/172 square feet and the largest suite is 90 square meters/969 square feet.
100 solo cabins
In a new twist, some 100 cabins across inside, ocean-view and balcony categories are going to be dedicated to solo travelers year-round, without any supplement.
Gastronomy and entertainment
To live up to the French gastronomic reputation, a former Michelin-star chef will create menus supervised by a maritime executive chef. Two specialty restaurants – one dedicated to meat (64 seats) and the other to Asian fusion food (68 seats) supplement the main restaurant (710 seats) and the buffet (375 seats). The Table du Chef (12 seats) will reinterpret some of the great gourmet recipes found aboard such legendary ships as Mermoz, France, Normandie and the former Renaissance of Paquet French Cruises.
Also planned are 10 production shows per cruise, live bands, a DJ and more. Announcements will be limited to security briefings and a daily update at noon from the captain. The daily logbook will be mainly digital.
From Le Havre or Marseille, never the same itinerary
Built as a long-haul ship, Renaissance is promised to offer very varied, bold and new routes.
'Our concept is that 100% of our cruises are flight-free, each of them departing and returning to the two ports we selected,' Rivoire-Perrochat said. 'Some 31 different cruises are planned from Feb. 10 until January 2024, with an average length of 11 nights, even if we have a few seven- or three-/four-day departures.'
Extended port calls
Port calls will range from 13 hours to 72 hours. In 2023, CFC will visit 157 destinations in 54 countries.
From Le Havre, in February, the first two cruises will head to Norway and have an aurora borealis theme. In March, the ship will follow the sun with a Canary Islands and Madeira itinerary that's a wink to the inaugural cruise of France in 1962. Subsequent cruises will visit Germany, the Channel Islands, Ireland, the Baltic, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.
Once repositioned to its homeport Marseille in September 2023, Renaissance will sail to Greece, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Corsica, Sicily and the Adriatic coasts. On Jan. 4, it will begin a 120-day grand voyage around Africa, through the Suez Canal and around the Cape of Good Hope, featuring some 50 calls at 28 countries with access to 23 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Renaissance will be marketed in Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Québec, with reservations opening this month. An average daily rate of €240 per person including gratuities is planned, with special discounts at €105. CFC targets 34,000 passengers for its inaugural season.
