Randomly remembered the half-reason i call my oc-verse by the name it has while laying in bed. One-half of the reason i still knew, but I had forgotten what had truly, really cemented it jointly until now
(it was a song from my favourite band I haven't listened to in a while.)
(the song fit so well at the time, still does, that i needed to hold onto it for the main protagonists forever, by partially naming their story in reference.)
Does this explanation make any sense? Does anyone know why I'm tearing up remembering this. Aahh
#(I'm emotional because I've been feeling bad about it all lately. enjoying things I make I mean—art or ocs or frivilous things.)#(So remembering that song and when it came out. That I couldn't see them in person. But i held onto it my own way. As something I loved)#(Something I still do love a lot... Parts of me saying no—you don't hate it. No. I'll help you remember more. I'm a little misty about it.)#The song is just The Killers - Run For Cover. I couldn't see them in person all those years ago—family went without me.#All my new oc rework with Zin and Hunter and Caia were like a year old or so.#It's a little silly. But the character Zin's derived from was a lightning mage so I stuck to it—I like monhun's zinogre for what its worth#So there's recurring theme and imagery. Thunder's not lightning but the sound and the feeling after the flash the flame and strike.#There's that meaningful thought—the story is the aftermath of a big tragedy. It matches what I like in monsters and other chars.#And at that time—my favourite band I missed out on puts out a really good song I download everywhere and it goes like:#He motioned me to the sky/ I heard heaven and thunder cry/ Run for cover/ Run while you can baby don't look back/ You gotta run for cover#And it goes on of course. The rest of the song's still really good. There's more that fits but point is; More evocative imagery.#So there. Why my bundle of OCs—Zinadia Hunter and Caia's story—is called Thunder 20XX. minus the 20XX. That's tongue-in-cheek#About some day I'll manage to make something tangeable or broadly shareable with them. I guarentee this century!#Thunder... oh my darling Thunder. Eight years man. More than that if I really want to count pre-rework INTO the complete original work. but#I like that it's definably 8. I like that I remembered I've always loved them a lot. Always been my thing to lean on even by name...#I need to get to sleep. Ive gotten a little more emotional over one song than I'd rather regularly be. Give it a listen maybe? Goodnight#Armour clanking#I need an oc tag#What have you gathered to report to your progenitors?🎶Are your excuses any better than your senator's🎶He held a conference#and his wife was standing by his side🎶He did her dirty but no-one died🎶#I saw Sonny Liston on the street last-night black-fisted and strong singing🎶Redemption song🎶#He motioned me to the sky🎶I heard heaven and thunder cry🎶RUN FOR COVER#What are you waiting for—a kiss or an apology?🎶You think by now you'd have an A in toxicology🎶#It's hard to pack the car when all you do is shame us🎶Even harder when the dirtbag's famous🎶#I saw my mother on the street last night all pretty and strong singin🎶The road is long🎶#I said 'Mama I know you tried!'🎶But she fell on her knees and cried🎶RUN FOR COVER#Just run for cover - you've got nothin left to lose...

☼ Sunshine ☼
Summary; After a terrible fight with your father, Sheriff Keller, you end up at the Whyte Wyrm and witness the initiation of a very attractive member.
Pairing; sweet pea x keller!reader
Warnings; brief mention of anxiety, mild language
Word Count: 2,470
Notes; I honestly wouldn’t have gotten anywhere w this without the help of @sweetpea-sweettea and @fafulous
The sky became dark and low with ominous black clouds, and the wind picked up, howling, crying, warning, baying like a wolf into the night. The first crack of lightning rent the air, and within seconds the rolling boom of the thunder reverberated overhead. Soon the rain fell, slow to start, splattering the sidewalks haphazardly. Then it fell as if from buckets, cascading like a waterfall from the heavens. It pounded on the roof as if it were demanding entrance.
You walked down the empty road in the pouring rain, hugging your body tightly in a desperate attempt to warm yourself against the harsh winds. You could barely see where you were going, but it didn't matter, you didn't have anywhere to go, not anymore. Thunder and lighting crash overhead, causing you to jump as you searched for shelter, the grating rain was pouring down on your skin, feeling as if someone was continuously pricking you with a sharp needle.
It felt like you had been walking for hours and your feet were beginning to hurt, you had to find shelter, and fast but at this point, you had become utterly lost because somehow in the mist of your crying and aimless wandering, you ended up in the middle of the Southside. It was dangerous to be on this side of the tracks, especially after nightfall, you never knew who or what could be lurking in the shadows. You continued to hug your body tightly, keeping your eyes on the ground as you felt the rain drench your clothes, headlights reflected against the street signs, capturing your attention as heard the squeal of tires stopping. You couldn't see through the pouring rain as someone jumped out of their truck and ran over to you.
"Y/N?" The voice called out but you only faintly heard it as another crack of thunder and lightning rolled across the dark September sky. A flash of lightning illuminated the entire Southside territory, and you were able to make out a familiar face.
"FP?"
"What are you doing out here?"
"My dad... we were fighting and he... he kicked me out." FP looked up at the sky, ruptures of lighting highlighting his facial features. Quickly, FP shrugged off his jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders lifting it enough to cover your head. He then helped you walk across the now flooded road and over to the passenger side of the truck.
"Come on, let's get you someplace warm." You don't say anything as you crawl into the truck, your body shaking violently from the rain. FP slammed the passenger door shut and ran around the car so fast; you weren't even positive he was standing near a few moments ago. The man was quick to crank the A/C, putting it on full blast to try warming your trembling body and you had never been so thankful for heat in your entire life. As terrible as your night had been going, it didn't stop you from mentally attacking yourself over the fact that you were soaking the inside of FP's truck, but as your anxiety would have it, you were too scared to speak up.
The drive was a quiet one except for the low sound of the radio playing 'Here I Go Again' by Whitesnake. You starred out the window, watching the rain droplets race to the bottom as the lyrics from the song filled your head.
"Here I go again. Goin' down the only road, I've ever known. Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone. An' I made up my mind; I ain't wasting no time."
FP drove until you saw a well know fluorescent neon light in the shape of a serpent light up everything before you. You were at the Whyte Wyrm, and the idea of ever being in the place baffled you, everyone on the Northside knew that this was the one place that you stayed away from, at all costs if possible. FP shut off the engine and ran around the truck again, opening up the passenger door for you, holding out his hand so you wouldn't lose your balance on the cobbled ground.
Gently, FP leads you through a large crowd; you held on to his jacket for dear life, it was like if you let it go, everything would fall apart. He stopped in front of the bar, where the bartender stood tall and proud with a small grin on his face, FP banged the palm of his hand down on the bar, grabbing the other man's attention.
"Hog Eye, I need you to keep an eye on her, okay?" Hog Eye's vision shifts from FP to you as he raises a curious eyebrow but merely nods, going back to cleaning a few glasses with the rag. FP turned back around and sat you on the stood, a thin smile on his face.
"You can stay here for the night, and I'll take you home in the morning."
"My dad doesn't want anything to do with me FP, he kicked me out of the house, told me he never wanted to see me again."
"Look, kid, I'm sure whatever happened between the two of you was a heat of the moment kind of thing. You need a chance to cool down and collect yourselves, alright?"
"I seriously doubt that; he sounded so sure this time."
"Parents and kids fight, it's a rite of passage so trust me, it's not as bad as you think it is." Your eyes hit the ground and began chewing on your bottom lip, nodding solemnly. FP pats your shoulder, offering you the kindest smile you had seen all night. You watched as he turned away and walked into the crowd, multiple hands landing on his back and the sound of cheers filling your ears.
"What's going on?" You ask Hog Eye, a perplexed expression written all over your face. Several members formed a circle around FP and someone who towered over him pretty well. Even in the dim lighting, you could see his strong jawline and messy raven-black hair.
"Initiation. The boy is gonna be a Serpent, assuming he passes the trials." Your mouth falls open slightly. At Riverdale, there were always rumors floating around about the Serpents, especially regarding the initiation process. Some say that the initiates were required to do extremely dangerous drug runs or beat up an innocent person.
Suddenly, loud cheers broke out, causing you to jump from shock but the surprise didn't end there. Without warning, you saw FP's hands go up to silence the room, which fell deathly quiet in seconds.
"What is the first law?!" He screamed out at the top of his lungs; his yell was like a booming bark, it made you jump like scared rabbits. The boy standing in front of him, however,  didn't flinch, didn't even miss a beat as he yelled out his response in return.
"No Serpent stands alone!"
You listened intently as the boy recited the laws correctly and when he spoke the last rule, your breathing stilled because as soon as the last word left his lips, every single person in the bar repeated the same sentence; "In unity, there is strength." It dawned on you that, despite the terrible reputation the Southside Serpents had, they were a tight-knit family, people who were willing to die and live and everything in between for each other. The silence fell over the Whyte Wyrm once again, FP stood tall and proud, his facial expression unreadable.
"You've passed the second trial, now let's move on to the third. Retrieve the knife." And on cue, the surrounding Serpents made room, creating an opening to reveal a glass cage that housed one very pissed off rattlesnake with a pocket knife embedded into the wood. You let out a shocked gasp, frantically turning towards Hog Eye, who appeared utterly unbothered.
"They're not going to make him grab the knife, are they?! Do you have an anti-venom?"
Your head twists back and forth, and your eyes go wide with fear, the rattlesnakes tail starting ringing as the boy edged closer and closer, your heart beating faster.
"It's alright, girly; he'll be fine."
"He could die!" You whisper-shout, afraid to interrupt the initiation process, especially in a room full of possibly violent Serpents. You grip the side of the bar so tightly that your knuckles turn white as you watch the boy reach into the glass cage, and the most perplexing thing yet was that he didn't look terrified, not for one minute. You held your breath as his hand circled the knife and gripped it tight and just as he was about to pull the knife out, the snake struck him in the small of his wrist, drawing a minuscule amount of blood.
Hog Eye must have noticed your horrified expression as he let out a low chuckle. "She had her venom glands removed, completely harmless." Your mouth falls open; it was baffling trying to comprehend what you just saw. It was like you understood what you saw, and you knew what happened and how, but you couldn't quite grasp it.
Everyone in the Whyte Wyrm let out a cheer and clapped the boy on his back, who smiled proudly in return, his head held high. It was quite a sight, truth be told, you had never witnessed anything like this before, and although you were scared, you couldn't help but be also intrigued. It was a hot minute before the boy made his way up to the bar where Hog Eye poured him a celebratory drink. With him standing right next to you, his height was intimidating in the sense that your practically an ant compared to him and so you just sat on the bar stool stealing sneaky side glances and watching every move he made.
Hog Eye had disappeared for a few moments and came back with bandage wrap and tossed it at him. Hog Eye then motioned to you, asking if you wanted anything to drink, to which you declined as you didn't want to cause any more trouble than you were worth. You chewed at your lips for a few seconds, debating whether or not to speak up but eventually, your curiosity got the best of you.
"Is your wrist okay?" The boy turned his head, and you watched as his eyes scanned you up and down, searching to see if they had seen you before. His eyes were a dark, smoldering brown but strangely, they complimented him perfectly. How weird was that? A person's eye color suiting them?
"Just peachy, Sunshine."
"Sunshine?" A quizzical look on your face but he readily nods towards the sun tattoo that rested between your thumb and index finger. A little smile fights its way to your face as you caress the symbol gently, not so fond memories making their way to the surface.
"Oh, right." A small, nervous laugh fell from your lips. "What's your name?"
"Sweet Pea." He didn't seem all that eager to continue a conversation with someone that he had only just met, not to mention, barely knew. Your sight sets on the infamous Serpent tattoo that Hog Eye had on his arm and look over to Sweet Pea, searching for his, but when you failed to find it, you spoke up again.
"I noticed that everyone has a Serpent tattoo, where's yours?"
"I'll be getting it after the final trial."
"Where at?"
Sweet Pea merely points to the side of his neck, and once again, your eyes go wide with surprise. You had only been sitting in the Whyte Wyrm for roughly two hours, and if it wasn't one thing that shocked you, it was another.
"I hope you can handle pain because I heard neck tattoos hurt like a bitch." He let out a low laugh, and you felt goosebumps form alongside your arm, something about the sound of his voice made you giddy, anticipating with excitement. For what seemed like hours, you and Sweet Pea talked about anything and nothing in general, sharing stupid laughs here and there. It was blissful, indeed.
Someone from somewhere in the bar yelled out Sweet Pea's name, capturing his immediate attention, Sweet Pea inclined his head in your direction before disappearing into the thick crowd of leather-clad members. FP had come to find you later on that night and lead you up to the office on the second floor where he let you sleep for the night, but sleep didn't come that effortlessly, no, your mind was still dancing over everything you had seen. The life, the music, the excitement and the bond that the Serpents seemed to share with each other and on top of that, you were thinking about Sweet Pea and the way he had shown zero fear whatsoever.
The next morning, you walked downstairs to find a few Serpents hanging around still. Deciding to wait for FP to wake up or show up from wherever he was, you sat down on the same bar stool you did last night when a bustle of laughter pulled your attention towards the door. It was Sweet Pea with a few of his friends pushing and shoving each other just for fun. Sweet Pea's eyes landed on you and a little smirk on his face, making you advert your gaze almost immediately. He walked up to the bar, resting an arm on it, his face squinting as if he were trying to recall you from last night.
"You're still here."
"That I am." The two fo you share a laugh when the sound of FP's heavy boots came trudging down the stairs, appearing half awake, yet half dead. He walked behind the bar, pulling out a glass bowl that was filled with various sets of car keys and trinkets, fishing through it until he pulled out his truck keys. You smiled at the sight; it was further proof that the Serpents did indeed take care of its own, no matter what the situation was. FP then looked up and gave you a quick smile.
"Alright, let's go." He said quietly, walking back around the bar and past Sweet Pea whose shoulder he patted while passing. You hopped off the stool and followed close behind after FP when Sweet Pea spoke out.
"I never got your name last night." You felt your cheeks heating up, it was pleasantly nerve-racking that he actually seemed interested in you and truth be told, meeting Sweet Pea? It was one of the good things that came from the turmoil getting kicked out of your house. However, you didn't answer his question until you were at the door and right before you walked out, you twirled on your heels, a playful smirk written all over your face.
"Sunshine."

A 13.03 coda. Because Dean Winchester breaks my heart. And we had a massive storm last weekend that gave me all the feels. Deancas; 4.2k
“And what about Cas?” He can feel the anger boiling and rising in his throat, under his skin, everywhere - before bubbling over the surface as each word leaves his tongue.
“What about Cas?”
The fucking nerve.
“He manipulated him! He made him promises! Said ‘paradise on Earth’, and Cas bought it! And you know where that got him?! IT GOT HIM DEAD!” His voice raises at least a decibel.
His eyes are steel in anger, his nostrils flare.
“Now, you may be able to forget about that,” Dean spits, voice dripping with venom, rage permeating and crackling in the space between them, “BUT I CAN'T!”
There's a deep, foreboding roll of thunder in the distance as Dean seethes, breaths coming hard and fast, glare shooting daggers at his little brother.
Sam’s pretty sure he's never seen Dean so angry. At least at him.
The words hang so heavy in between them that when Dean marches towards the stairs, Sam can't even bring himself to watch him walk away.
-x-
Dean’s boots stomp heavily along the landing at the top of the stairs. His fist connects with a wall as a loud growl escapes his mouth. His hand fucking throbs, and he relishes in the pain. It's a momentary distraction from the shards of glass in his chest as his heart breaks. Splinters. Bleeds.
He lurches the door open with his good hand, and slams it behind him as he exits the bunker.
-x-
It's raining. The wind whips in every direction as the storm settles heavily over Kansas. Dean is drenched in a matter of moments, and the cold spray of rain and wind hits him smack in the face.
He yells, like a wounded animal that had just been shot, as the wind howls back at him. He looks up at the stormy midnight sky, squinting against the sheets of rain beating down on the earth.
“SON OF A BITCH!” he roars at Chuck, Jack, every god forsaken thing on this planet as thunder rolls behind him. Dean hauls the duffel bag from where it hangs over his shoulder and throws it with a growl at the driver’s side door of the Impala. It connects with a loud bang that even transcends the raging wind and battering rain.
He screams and yells until his voice is hoarse and raw, heaving with each ragged sound. He wants to expel all of the broken pieces from his chest. Maybe if he's loud enough, forceful enough, they'll come tumbling out of his mouth.
They don't, of course.
When the sound in his voice runs out, he falls to his knees. Splashes as he connects with a small flooding stream coursing downwind towards the road. He's soaked to the bone now.
He can't be bothered to give a damn.
The thunder rolls on. Dean doesn't. He hangs his head as waves of grief crash over him and beat him against the jagged shore. Streams of tears run down his face. His broken body convulses with sobs. Blood trickles from his broken knuckles down to his wrist.
The rain beats steadily on the earth.
-x-
Dean stays there a while. He's not sure for how long. Maybe ten minutes. Maybe an hour. Time didn't matter to him now. It stopped being of any significance when he watched Castiel’s body go up in flames.
He's shivering noticeably as the sky cries with him; he's cold, to the point he's nearly numb. And he doesn't care. He feels everything, and nothing all at once.
Lightning flashes, lighting up the Kansas sky. Sheets of rain continue to fall, though not as intense as before. The wind picks up, and he braces his body against the overpowering gusts.
He can't bring himself to stand. His bones ache, begging him to move. He can't.
He’s paralyzed; tethered in chains.
Dean closes his eyes.
“Cas,” he breathes, teeth chattering. “I'm so sorry.” Tears continue to fall in perfect symmetrical drops down his cheeks.
For not mannin’ up and telling you. For not saving you. For taking you for granted.
For loving you - and never havin’ the balls to tell you.
Another bolt of lightning strikes. A thunderclap. He lifts his head, his neck aching in protest. He cranes it back so that he's staring at the sky.
He thinks about Heaven.
Where do angels go when they die?
Dean’s sure he's never felt more broken in his life.
-x-
Eventually, he drops his head back to its resting place. He blinks once, twice, staring unseeingly past the Impala in the direction of the road.
He's so tired. Bone-tired. Drained. He's got nothin’ left in the tank. The exhaustion is an overwhelming, bruising cocoon that crushes his insides.
It's so heavy that the sharp pain in his chest resorts to a dull ache.
Lightning flashes again. When it does, there's a brief appearance of a silhouette walking up the drive. In that moment of illumination, Dean’s brow furrows.
No.
Dean takes in a ragged breath.
Footsteps pound against gravel, arms moving in sync with his legs, trench coat flapping behind him in the wind as he races to Dean’s side.
Cas.
It can't be. He has to be imagining it. He's hypothermic. His mind is playing cruel tricks on him -
Cas falls to his knees right then, skidding to a halt right in front of Dean’s face. Green eyes meet blue.
Oh, God.
“Dean,” his voice is the same gravel, but higher than normal in Dean’s ears. Concern. Worry.
Dean’s heart drops to the pit of his stomach.
“You can't be real. You can't be. I gotta be seein’ things.”
He stares into brilliant blue orbs and swallows thickly as Cas’ hands come up to frame his face, thumbs brushing his cheeks.
“Dean,” he breathes again, and Dean shatters.
“Cas.” It's a broken whimper and a wretched sob. He collapses against Cas’ chest as Cas’ arms encircle his waist. Cas squeezes him tighter than he’s ever done, and Dean’s body gives out, going limp in his embrace. Dean fists both soaking, aching hands into the material of his trench coat, clinging to him, holding onto him like a life preserve in the raging sea.
He ignores the white hot pain in his right hand. The rain falls heavily once again.
Dean’s body wracks with sobs and he shivers violently. Cas reaches one hand up his back and cups the back of his head. He strokes the hairs at the nape of his neck, murmuring in his ear.
“Oh, Dean,” he breathes. “It’s okay. Please. Shh.”
It only makes Dean cry harder. It's the most beautiful damn thing he's ever heard.
“I'msosorry, I'msosorry, I’m so sorry,” he chants it over and over again. “I'm so sorry, Cas. I'll do right by you this time. I'msorry I'msorry I'msorry.”  He's rambling now, and his teeth are chattering to the point it's becoming hard to speak.
Cas pulls Dean away long enough to look at him fully. Worry swirls in the shades that make up the blue. In one quick motion, he rips off the trench coat and covers Dean with it. He runs his hands down Dean’s arms, and it's only then that he sees his bleeding, battered hand. Cas cups it gingerly in between his own.
“Oh, Dean,” Cas murmurs, and tears fall from his own eyes, mixing with the rain drops pelting his face.
“‘m fine. I'm fine,” Dean mumbles, and reaches up with his other hand to cup Cas’ chin. He narrows his eyes, confusion etched in every line of his face.
“H-how? I burned you. Y-your wings - they…”
Cas closes his eyes and shakes his head slightly. “Jack -- the nephilim. I felt his power as I was being resurrected. He must have…I don't know.” Cas trails off. “I’ll find out. I'll figure it out.”
“We will,” Dean corrects. He closes his eyes and takes a deep, cleansing breath. The pad of his thumb tentatively sweeps underneath Cas’ eye, tracing his cheekbone, his stubbled jawline, and finally, his bottom lip.
Dean searches Cas’ gaze for affirmation. He chokes back a sob as he crushes their mouths together in a desperate, smouldering kiss. A tearful moan escapes from the back of Dean’s throat, and a searing warmth pools in his belly as Cas gasps in his mouth. Dean’s tongue plunders Cas’ lips, and the angel’s mouth is so soft and warm. Heavenly.
Cas pulls away gently. Dean’s eyes flash in a panic; his face crumples as green eyes search blue. But the panic dissipates when Cas reaches up to cup his cheek.
“Let's get inside,” he says, forehead resting against Dean’s. “We need to get you warm.”
-x-
Cas leads Dean down the bunker’s hallway to the bathroom. He sits Dean down on the lid of the toilet seat before he turns to close the door. He reaches into the closet and pulls out a thick, white towel before placing it on top of the sink.
Dean just watches. It's all he can do.
Cas reaches inside the shower stall, and the knob creaks as he twists it to the red ‘H’ on the dial. Steam slowly starts to fill the bathroom.
“Okay,” Cas whispers as he crouches down in front of Dean. He places his fingers on Dean’s forehead, and fixes his eyes on the tiled floor in between Dean’s knees as he focuses. Dean instinctively leans into his touch.
He's diagnosing him.
“Alright,” Cas says. “Let me take this.” And he starts to peel the dripping trench coat from Dean’s shoulders.
The coat drops to the floor with a wet plop.
Cas’ eyes fall again onto Dean’s bloodied and bruised hand. He frowns deeply.
“How did this happen?” he asks gently as he traces his index finger along the outline of Dean’s knuckles. “Did a demon --”
Dean winces as he shakes his head. “Nah. No monsters...Just me.” He gives a mirthless chuckle with a small, sad smile.
“I uh...I punched the wall on my way out of the bunker. And a wooden sign before that in Washington.” He glances down at their not-quite entwined fingers.
Cas closes his eyes briefly. “It’s broken.” He glances up, searching Dean’s gaze.
“Let me.”
Dean nods.
He feels a surge of Cas’ grace throughout his body as the broken bones mend underneath Cas’ fingers.
“Thank you.” Dean’s voice is low and throaty. Raw. He tilts his body forward and drops his head into the crook of Cas’ neck. He breathes the angel in.
Earthy. Alive.
Cas’ heart swells in his chest at Dean’s need for physical contact. It's such a vulnerable side to Dean Winchester that he's never seen.
“My ‘mojo’” - Dean can hear the air quotes in Castiel’s voice - “isn't quite up to full power yet. So I can't heal the hypothermia. Thankfully it's a relatively mild case.”
A beat.
“The shower will help,” he cocks his head towards the stall, even though Dean can't see.
Dean nods. “Mm.”
Cas rests his head on top of Dean’s and rubs soothing circles along his back. Chancing their newfound intimacy, he presses a kiss to the crown of Dean’s head before resting his cheek back on top of Dean’s hair.
Silence settles between them. But only for a moment.
“I love you,” he grits out softly into the hunter's ear, with the same desperation and brokenness in his voice as the first time he said it all those months ago.
Cas squeezes his eyes shut and he can feel icicles gripping his heart. He prays he doesn't scare Dean away, that he didn’t just burst this precious bubble of intimacy and vulnerability.
Dean’s chest constricts with the enormity of it all. He sends up a small prayer, thankful that Cas can't see the one perfect tear as it rolls down his cheek, splashing on the shoulder of Cas’ suit jacket.
Every word he wants to say crumbles like dust on his tongue. So he reaches with both hands and grasps Cas’ hips, squeezing gently.
I love you.
“Come on,” Cas breathes. “I don't want you falling ill. Let's get you out of these wet clothes, okay?”
Dean nods and rises to his feet, holding both of Cas’ hands in his own on his way up. He rubs circles against the backs of Cas’ hands with his thumbs.
He licks his lips, and gazes into Cas’ baby blues. His eyes dart to Cas’ mouth before meeting his eyes again.
Cas peels layer after layer of wet clothing from Dean’s shivering body, dropping them into a pile beside the door. He strips him until Dean is clad only in his boxers.
Goosebumps erupt over every inch of Dean’s bare, freckled skin.
Dean reaches a tentative hand up Cas’ chest over his heart. In the same spot he watched the angel blade pierce through, grace burning out behind it.
Dean’s breath hitches at the memory. So he ventures his hand up higher until it grasps the lapel of Cas’ white dress shirt.
“Cas... Stay,” he begs.
Here. Now. Forever.
“Please.”
Cas, buddy, I need you.
We're family. We need you. I need you.
Cas slips his hand from Dean’s grasp and cards it through his wet, disheveled hair before pressing a soft kiss to Dean’s forehead.
Cas wants so badly to kiss Dean right then as the hunter licks his lips. But he doesn't.
Dean’s calling the shots tonight.
“Of course, Dean,” he murmurs. “Always. For as long as you need.”
I always come when you call.
You're always there. You're the best friend we've ever had.
“Forever, man. With me and with Sam.”
Team Free Will.
“You can't do that to me again, Cas.”
I won't survive it.
“You can’t…”
With everything that's goin’ on you can't just go dark like that.
I'm not leaving here without you.
I’d rather have you.
Cas shakes his head. “I won't.”
Cas places a hand to Dean’s back, urging him gently to the shower stall.
“Go on. Get in.”
-x-
“I'll be right outside,” Cas promises as Dean steps under the spray. As he moves to a slide the glass shut, Dean’s hand catches his wrist.
“Unh-uh,” Dean grunts, shaking his head. He draws his bottom lip in between his teeth. “You're soaked too, Cas. You're cold -"
“I'm an angel, Dean,” Cas chastises. “Well, mostly. This cold and dampness doesn't affect me the way it does you.”
“I don't care, man,” he argues, shaking his head again. “Come on. Come in.” He tugs Cas’ wrist, but Castiel still hesitates.
“Please.”
The angel’s resolve crumbles. He’s never been able to deny Dean Winchester in the near ten years they've been together. He wasn't about to start now.
“Should I, uh…” Cas glances down at his fully clothed body. So unsure. This is such a huge unknown dynamic for both of them. He doesn't want to assume; doesn't wanna misjudge.
Dean gives a soft chuckle, eyes crinkling as he smiles. “Yes, dumbass,” he teases. “Get undressed.”
And so he does.
There isn't much in the world that can frighten Castiel. He’s seen wars. He’s seen monsters of every kind. He’s seen the worst of human history. He’s seen Hell. He’s seen death.
None of those things ever scared him.
But right now? Castiel, badass angel-of-the-Lord, is absolutely terrified.
Because Dean means too much to him. He’s everything. Cas rebelled against heaven for this man. He chose him over an entire army in the battle against Metatron. He’s killed angels, his own brothers and sisters, to protect him. He laid siege to the stinking depths of Hell to raise him back to life.
And he doesn't want to ruin this profound, other-worldly bond over a night of misunderstandings or regret.
“Hey. Hey. Come back to me.” Dean’s gruff voice jerks him from his reverie. He blinks once and shakes his head slightly. He realizes he's been staring unseeingly at Dean the whole time while standing in nothing but his boxers.
“I’m sorry, Dean,” Cas says, embarrassed. He casts his gaze down to the floor.
“S’okay. Listen, if you don't want…maybe I'm readin’ this all wrong. You don't have to. I just thought…”
“I do,” he says hurriedly, lifting his eyes to meet emerald green.”You didn't read anything wrong, Dean.” Because oh, God, he does.
And with that, Castiel finally steps gingerly into the shower, the air around him feeling lighter. Dean reaches an arm over Cas’ shoulder to slide the glass door shut.
-x-
Dean lets his arm fall gently to Castiel’s shoulder, smiling sheepishly as he does so. He cups the angel's cheek, stroking the skin with his thumb. Cas’ eyes flutter, closing briefly.
“There y’go.”
Dean stands with his back to the spray, and Cas watches as droplets of water trickle from his hair and slip down his face.
Dean stares into Cas’ eyes. Transfixed. He breathes deeply. His eyes begin to water.
Castiel lifts his hand from where it lies at his side, and cards it through Dean’s hair gently.
“You're okay now,” Cas breathes. “You're alright.”
Dean drops his head to the crook of Cas’ neck, slipping his arms around the angel’s bare torso. He squeezes.
“I thought I was never gonna see you again,” Dean confesses, words muffled against Cas’ skin. His voice is thick with unshed tears.
“I thought...when I burned your body…. Just --”
He lifts his head to meet Cas’ gaze and clears his throat.
“Somethin’ broke in me,” he says. A single tear falls. “Part of me died with you when you went up in that smoke.”
“Dean...” And now, Castiel is crying too.
He felt Dean’s grief, of course. When he came to in the Big Empty. He was crushed with it.
But hearing the hunter tell it...was something else entirely.
Dean lifts a hand and strokes the swell of the angel’s bicep. The other comes to rest on the swell of his hip. Dean drops his head and rests his forehead against Cas’. Hands come up to frame Dean’s face. Soft. Warm.
“I'm here now, Dean. I'm here.”
“Cas…” he starts. “You know I'm no good at this. But you gotta know, man. You deserve to know.”
Dean takes a slow, deep breath. Lifts his head to meet Cas’ eyes.
“I love you. I love you. And I know I shoulda said it sooner. I shoulda said it when you were dyin’ with that black goo crap coming out of your mouth. I shoulda said it when I gave you that mixtape. I should’ve when you got back from Purgatory, when we bailed out of the SuperMax, or-or when I got back from the thing with Amara, but it just…. I was chicken-shit. And I’m so sorry.”
A sigh.
“I'm so sorry.”
Cas is quiet for a moment.
“I'm going to kiss you now,” he announces. Dean's face melts in relief, and a smile spreads wide, giving way to a soft chuckle.
“Yeah.”
Castiel crushes their lips together. It's devouring, all-consuming.
It's everything.
Dean’s tongue presses against Cas’ lips, and when the angel grants entry, a moan escapes from the back of Dean’s throat. He envelops Cas into his arms and gently pushes him against the shower wall.
It's an intimate battle of lips and tongues. Dean runs his hands over Cas’ back, his torso, his arms. He tears himself from Cas’ mouth and trails hot, open-mouthed kisses down his neck. He sucks and nips at the junction of Cas’ collarbone.
“Oh, Dean,” he groans, his head tilting back on its own accord, giving Dean free reign. He reaches up to cup the back of Dean’s head, fingers curling in his hair, blunt nails scratching his scalp.
Dean bites Cas’ neck a little too hard at the contact, every nerve ending in his body on fire. Not missing the small gasp that comes from Castiel’s mouth, he runs over the bite with his tongue. Soothing. Healing.
Blood surges to the angel’s groin. Dean is so damn supple, so gentle, so loving. His hips buck against Dean’s instinctively. He can feel the hard length pressing against Dean’s boxers.
Dean chuckles softly in Cas’ ear as his lips trail along the shell. He wedges himself in between Cas’ thighs, providing a much needed friction. Cas grinds into him with a moan.
“That better?”
Cas can hear the cockiness in the hunter's voice. He nods as Dean presses his lips to his.
Dean’s kiss is so hungry. His tongue plunders inside Cas’ mouth, swirling alongside his for what seems like forever, and yet not long enough.
Dean parts, panting. Hot breaths caressing Cas’ face.
Dean’s pupils are blown as he searches bright blue. He trails his hand down Cas’ chest, down his belly, his navel, before hooking his index finger in the waistband of Cas’ boxers. He tugs gently, a brief flash of uncertainty passing over his face.
Cas places a hand over top Dean’s, giving it a reassuring squeeze. He presses the softest of kisses to Dean’s mouth.
“Please,” he murmurs against Dean’s lips. And Dean reaches his hand inside Cas’ shorts. He cups him gently, thumb stroking softly up and down his length. Cas clutches at the muscles in Dean’s back, digging his nails into flesh.
Dean groans, dipping his forehead to rest against Cas’. He swears he will never tire of staring into those beautiful, bright friggin’ blue eyes for as long as he lives.
“Y’like that?” he whispers hotly. Cas bucks into him by way of reply. Dean grins, eyes crinkling.
God. He loves this man with every single ounce of his being.
Cas begins to squirm against the wall, trying to shimmy out of his too-tight boxers. Dean slips his hand out to tug them down. Cas removes Dean’s.
-x-
For a moment, they peer into each other’s eyes.
Aching. Yearning.
Dean’s cock throbs as he braces his arms on either side of Cas’ head, palms gripping the tile wall. He breathes deeply.
He ruts against Cas, flushing their bodies skin-to-skin. The angel mimics Dean’s movements.
Dean lets out a whimper.
“God, Cas. Please. I need you.”
Cas slips his hand between them and takes Dean’s aching cock in his palm. The guttural groan that escapes the Winchester’s mouth is enough to turn Cas’ legs to jello. He strokes Dean from base to tip. It's slow, tantalizing.
Dean can already feel the hot coil springing in the pit of his belly. He moans as he reaches to take Cas’ cock in his hand, matching Cas’ rhythm stroke for stroke.
The urgency builds; Dean burries his face into Cas’ neck.
“You're so good,” he groans, panting, sucking at the pulsepoint. Their hands move faster.
“Dean...oh-"
Castiel crashes his mouth to Dean’s in a filthy, bruising kiss. Cas’ fingers squeeze Dean’s cock with just the right amount of pressure.
Dean moans, and after a few more heavenly strokes, he shatters. He comes undone in Castiel’s hand.
“Jesus,” Dean pants in the shell of his ear, sucking Cas’ earlobe. He rides out the aftershocks in Cas’ hand slowly as he strokes Cas harder, faster. He wraps his free hand around Cas’ side.
Castiel’s body tenses, and Dean grins knowingly.
“I got you. Come on, baby,” he murmurs. “I got ya. Let go.”
And he does.
He falls limp in Dean’s arms and rests his head against Dean’s chest. Dean presses a kiss to Cas’ jet-black hair, arms encircling his waist.
They breathe together in unison. Heavy at first. And then slower as heart rates ease back to normal rhythms. They stay like that for a while in a tight embrace.
Cas lifts his head, gazing back into Dean’s eyes.
“I think you're warm enough now.”
Dean lets out a bark of laughter as he turns off the spray.
-x-
They lay together under the covers of Dean’s bed some time later. Cas is clad in one of Dean’s AC/DC shirts and grey sweats; Dean in a plain black tee and flannel lounge pants. Dean lies on his side, curled up to Cas’ body. Hands entwined.
Dean’s eyes flicker between his watch and their fingers as they brush gently. He sighs heavily.
“You okay?” Cas asks quietly in the dark. Thunder rolls quietly off in the distance.
“Mhm,” he smiles, eyes heavy. “You?”
The angel nods. “Yes.” He gives Dean’s hand a gentle squeeze. He dips his head and presses a soft kiss to Dean’s swollen lips.
Dean snuggles into Cas’ side even closer. They lay in a comfortable silence for a few moments.
“Hey, Cas?”
“Hmm?”
Dean inhales deeply.
“Listen, um...thank you.”
Cas looks down at Dean. “For what?”
Dean glances up into his face.
“For coming back. To me.”
A beat.
“For coming home.”
-x-
It was hard to believe. A night that began so desolate in a numbing, cold sheet of rain ending like this.
Dean knows now that he can survive anything so long as they’re together. He, Cas, and Sam.
Team Free Will.
He knows it'll get ugly. He knows there will be monsters to fight, people to save. He knows they have fight to get Mom back, figure things out with the kid.
But for now, this is enough. Cas in his arms, sleeping soundly beside him.
He knows they can make it through the rain.
Fin.

Have you guys heard The Killer’s new song? What have you gathered to report to your progenitors? Are your excuses any better than your senator's? He held a conference and his wife was standing by his side He did her dirty but no-one died I saw Sonny Liston on the street last night Black-fisted and strong singing Redemption Song He motioned me to the sky I heard heaven and thunder cry Run for cover Run while you can, baby, don't look back You gotta run for cover Don't be afraid of the fear, that's a played out trap, man You know you're not the only one And don't look back, just run for cover What are you waiting for, a kiss or an apology? You think by now you'd have an A in toxicology It's hard to pack the car when all you do is shame us It's even harder when the dirtbag's famous I saw my mother on the street last night All pretty and strong, singing 'The Road Is Long' I said 'momma I know you've tried' But she fell on her knees and cried

(89) Tell Me About A Dream That You Had And When It Happened.
Last night I dreamed I was at the Killers concert I will go on the second of April and I was with my aunt who in my dream was friends with Bono, and Bono, she and me talked for a while before he made a small gig to open for the Killers. There was a very small stage at the right of the main one and there were Brandon and Ronnie standing. Brandon was going to play the drums and Ronnie would sing. I was standing in the second row in front of the little stage and the guy who was next to me waved Brandon for him to move a little bit to the left and Brandon signed him telling him that he couldn’t. As I saw he paid attention to the guy who was standing next to me I waved him hello and he waved back with a smile and he made a funny face while he was still waving and I laughed, then they started playing and they headed to the main stage through a passage we couldn’t see and then I went to the second row of the main stage. They were playing Run For Cover and while he sung “he motioned me to the sky” he grabbed Dave (yes, Dave was at this gig) by the waist from the back, picked him up 3 inches from the ground, turned around and left Dave back on the floor and he kept playing the guitar all the time. I laughed at that and then I stopped because Brandon had fell on his knees when he sung “I heard Heaven and thunder cry” and was crawling to the audience in a little runway the stage had. Then he jumped off the stage and kissed a guy and that’s when I thought “Aw man, this is a dream he wouldn’t do that” and woke up. It was still night when I woke up so I went back to sleep and this time I dreamed about the second gig I’ll attend on April the 3rd. This time I only dreamed some car company made some announcements about their new cars at the venue and when they were done, they said that when Brandon had arrived at Monterrey at night he was very tired and wanted to go to his hotel to rest but that fans made that impossible and his hotel was like a hell for him because they wouldn’t leave him. They also said that when he went to eat something and asked for the check, a lot of fans came to his table screaming that they would pay for it and they were asking pictures with him and autographs. And they asked us not to follow the band to where they were going and to give them space. And I thought “great now they are never coming back to Mexico bc of these people” And then I woke up for real, I didn’t dream of them playing but I saw a lot of Wonderful Wonderful posters at the venue.

The Soul Sword: One shot
read while listening to this
And then Clary was running across the field, to where Luke’s wolf form laid motionless. The piercing sounds of the rest of the werewolf pack howls filled her ears as she weaved through circle members to reach to the large black wolf. By the time that she reached him, he had transformed back into his human form, his body covered with scratches and blood.
She fell to her knees. “Get up. Luke, please. Get up!” tears are falling from her bruised eyes, her hands shaking as she lifts them up to her face.“I can’t lose you too. I need you.”
“Clary?” she heard a strangled breath beneath her.
Clary moved her hands from her face to see Luke looking up at her. New tears formed as she pulled herself down to hug him.
“I thought I lost you,’ she said into his shoulder.
“Never.”
“Well, isn’t this a touching moment.” Valentine made his way towards her and Luke, the soul sword in hand.
“Look around you Clarissa, you’re friends are falling left and right.” Valentine motioned around him. “I must commend you for your efforts, however. You are your mother’s daughter. Stubborn and willing to risk anything for the people you love. And yet, here you are, powerless.”
Clary stood up just as Valentine pointed the sword at her. It’s edge positioned right at her chest. “I was ready to spare you, my daughter. You had so much promise. But, it’s clear that you are willing to side with these demonic beings, over your own flesh and blood. Your own father.”
“You were never my father.” Clary said, her voice hard and unwavering. It was as if she had found a new strength in her. A new strength to face the man who killed her mother, tortured Jace, and murdered innocent downworlders.
Valentine shook his head. “How can you say that when we have the same blood in our veins. I will always be your father, Clarissa.”
Clary scoffed at that. “One of the things I’ve learned is that, blood ties doesn’t make you family. It doesn’t make you superior or beneath  anyone. It’s about what’s in your heart, and I have no room in mine for you. Not now. Not ever"
She felt the sharp edge of the soul sword pressed to her chest. Clary wanted to run, to run straight into her mother’s arms as she did when she was younger, when she used to have nightmares of monsters. But now monsters weren’t just black figures under her bed. No. They were just ordinary men, filled with ambition and hatred.
Thunder cracked above them and downpour of rain started. Clary watched as Valentine’s expression darkened with something she has never seen before. Evil.
“The storm is here. You cannot stop this, Clarissa. The soul sword will purify this whole field from these demonic filth, leaving only the pure left standing. And afterwards, I’ll just have to kill you, Jace and your friends, the old fashioned way.”
The lighting became sporadic, hitting the ground around them, but not the sword. Clary watched in fear as a single bolt hit the sword with such a force, she felt it in her bones. The soul sword glowed, almost as if it were on fire. Valentine grinned as the runes on the sword activated. She watched helplessly.
Then a voice sounded loud in her mind. Touch it. Hold it. You are the only one that can stop it.
Clary looked down at the sword, still pointing at her chest. She reached down and grabbed it, it cut through the flesh of her hand. It burned. But, not like she had expected. It felt warm, almost familiar. Her eyes now closed, she recited the words spoken in her mind.
Angele Dei, qui custos es mei,
(Angel of God, my Guardian dear)
me tibi commissum pietate superna,
(to whom His love commits me here)
cui semper ad hanc diem (vel noctem) apud me,
(ever this day or night by my side)
 illumina, custodi, rege et guberna.
(to light and guard, to rule and guide.)
Amen
Her eyes flew open. The sword had been removed from Clary’s chest, and was now held by a glowing figure, descending from the sky. The rain did not touch it. An angel. She immediately wanted to close her eyes again. It was so bright. The battle around her seemed to stop in that moment. Shadowhunters all around fell to their knees, downworlders looked up in awe.
Simon’s voice pierced through the deafening silence around her, “are we in heaven. Wait no - I’m a vampire, surely I would be in hell, or purgatory, Does that exist?“
The angel’s feet touched the ground right in front of her. “I heard your prayer young Shadowhunter” the angel said, with a booming voice.
“I did?”
The angel somehow managed to look exasperated. "You summoned me, and what a feat that was. No mere Shadowhunter is capable of such things.”
Clary really had summoned him.
“You have the Angel Ituriel running through your veins, do you not?” the Angel asked her.
"Y-yes, I think so?”
Suddenly, the angel turned quickly around.
“You!”
He pointed the soul sword at Valentine. Valentine was on the ground, his head was bowed. Clary couldn’t believe it. He was trembling.
”Stand” the angel commanded.
Clary watched as Valentine slowly stood up. He looked smaller then in that moment, than he has ever before.
“You dare extract the blood of an angel? You turned my own creation into a demon.”
Valentine face hardened and his chin lifted with pride.
“Jace…” Valentine said
Clary looked around for a blonde head. She found him near a fallen tree, leaning against Alec, left foot favoring his right. His eyes mirrored hers. Fear.
“No. I’m referring to your true son.” The angel raised the sword and pointed it at a white haired boy behind Valentine.
At that moment, Clary knew the truth. Valentine had lied. He had tricked both her and Jace into thinking they were siblings. She turned back to Valentine in disgust.
“I was merely doing what was asked of me. To rid the world of the demons that plague it,” Valentine said.
“By protecting mundanes. Not terrorizing downworlders and killing innocent.”
Valentine barked with laughter. “Innocent? These creatures have demon blood surging through there veins. They are like rabid animals, unable to control their urges. They will kill, again and again-”
“-And what have you done?” Raziel questioned.
Valentine was silent.
“It is not up to you to decide which people are worthy of life. You cannot punish downworlders for existing. I will not allow it. Not anymore.”
In a flash, Raziel appeared right behind Valentine, and put his free hand on Valentine’s head. Clary and the rest of the watched as it looked like white mist was being pulled out of Valentine. Once it was all out of him, it burst like a firework into the night sky.
“I have removed you from all angelic properties. You will no longer bear the blood of a shadowhunter.”
Valentine fell to the ground.
Raziel suddenly appeared in front of Clary and held the soul sword in front of her. “You have already deactivated the sword. It will no longer cause the harm that it was intended to do. It will be used only to judge, not to harm.”
The he was gone, as if it was just a dream. Had it been? No, she couldn’t have dreamed that. Clary heard Simon before he appeared. She hugged him with all her might. Izzy, Maia, Magnus, Alec, and Jace, slowly made their way to them. She looked around for Sebastian. He was gone.
“I am your father,” Valentine sobbed.
Clary untangled herself from Simon and walked over to where Valentine was crouched. “No. Fathers are kind. Fathers protect you. Fathers raise you - Clary turned to Luke, her eyes glistening with tears - “I was protected by Luke. I was raised by my mother. They are my family. Simon is my family. The Lightwoods are my family. This is my home and you are not welcome here.”
She turned away and walked over to Luke. She needed to feel his warmth. He wrapped his arms around her just like he did when she was a little girl. She finally allowed herself to cry, to truly cry. She cried for mother, Dot, and for all the innocent people that was killed by Valentine’s hand.
Luke kissed her forehead.
“Your mother would be so proud.”

Guardian Angel AU
"Wait! Come back!"
  Poofless
Rob was sitting in the crook of a tree, listening to leaves rustling in the branches above him. He looked around his cloud covered backyard, he was going to miss this place, it's where he normally goes when he's worried. Sighing to himself, rob jumped down from his perch, he had an appointment to get to.
Turning to walk down the sidewalk, rob looked at his feet, his wings curled around himself. As Rob walked alone, he kicked a pebble along the sidewalk. His vision started blurring with tears, trying not to cry the angle flapped his wings slightly, trying to distract himself from his troubles.
Rob was twenty now, he has to report to the office, he knew what it meant, he would be sent to earth as a guardian angel. He would have to stay on earth and watch some human, he had to keep them safe.
Everyone said being a guardian was an honorable thing, something he should be proud of. Tears started to stain trails down his cheeks as he thought about abandoning the world he had lived in. "Why did I have to have guardian's wings?" He asked himself.
Looking at his white wings, the angle scowled at the gold flecks that littered them, the mark of a guardian. Rob sobbed bitterly, his parents used to call him "their little guardian" he was proud of it then, but then he found out what it meant. He could remember the moment in history class when they learned about guardians, everyone in class starring at him in awe. That was the day he found out his fate. After that he knew this day would come, the day he would learn to live with mortals.
His eyes stung as he looked at the ground, he wasn't bitter persay... he knew he was important, or that's what everyone told him. "Your gonna protect a mortal!" "You'll be able to see the earth!" "You'll be able to see the world!" His family and friends words echoed in his mind.
Before rob knew it he looked up to see the door to "the office" Rob opened the door to his new life.
 ********
An older woman sat at the desk infront of him, she had a pen in her ear and glasses on her face. "She seems nice" rob thought to himself as he smiled sheepishly at the woman.
"Robert lasky?" The woman asked, looking up at him.
"Latsky?" Rob corrected, hoping he didn't sound like he had been crying.
"Excited to become a guardian?" The woman asked cheerfully.
No "Yes ma'am" rob said, nodding curtly. The woman smiled softly before clicking her pen
 *****
 Falling.
Rob felt like he was falling.
Trying to use his wings to gain his balance in the air, rob discovered he had no air resistance.
Rob flapped his wings wildly, but he just kept falling.
Everything was black, he couldn't see anything, at first he thought it was the night sky but there were no stars in sight, just darkness.
Rob hit the ground and the air was knocked out of his chest.
**************
Preston woke up to a loud bang "what the fudge was that" he thought to himself, slowly getting up from his bed. Looking out his window Preston saw someone face down in his backyard, and he seemed to be wearing white and gold robes?
"Ok...?" He thought, watching the man, who didn't seem like he was getting up any time soon. "Well I have to help him..?" Preston said as he walked towards his door.
Walking intothe yard he walked up to the man, and he was definitely wearing robes? Who did he think he was a Greek god? An angle? What is this?
Preston stared down at the man for a second before shaking his shoulder slightly, "umph I don't wanna fly right now" the man mumbled to himself.
Preston was in the middle of debating whether or not to call an ambulance when the man shot up from the ground, dirt still smudging his face.
Preston let out a laugh as he watched the man look around bewildered, as if he didn't know where he was. "Hey man you ok?" Preston asked, the man almost immediately turning his head towards him, looking him in the eye for a second before turning and trying to run away.
"Wait! Come back!" Preston screamed at the man, he seriously needed medical attention.
The man looked at him for a second before looking him over, he seemed to be deep in thought.
All of a sudden the man looked up at him with what seemed to be a forced smile "greetings! My name is rob!" The man said, awkwardly waving his hand as if he didn't know how.
Prestons looked at the man in confusion "who the hell says greetings?" He thought to himself, before returning the man’s smile "names Preston" He said, still confused out of his mind.
 *******
"Greetings! My name is rob!" Rob said to the human, hoping he was greeting him right. The human looked at him in confusion and he realized he probably didn't.
"How am I supposed to guard this guy if he already thinks I'm some weirdo" rob thought to himself, running his fingers through his hair.
"Names Preston" rob let out a sigh of relief, at least he wasn't scared of him. Rob looked at the ground and started nervously running his hand over his hair again.
"You ok dude?" rob jumped when the human spoke.
"Yes.. yes!" Rob said, hoping the human believed him.
"Do you need me to drive you to the hospital? You seemed to have had a pretty bad fall?" The human asked him.
"What's a hospital? Rob asked blankly.
 ***********
"What's a hospital" the mystery man responded.
"This dude must have a concussion!" Preston thought, trying not to let the worry show in his face.
"I've got to get this man to a hospital" Preston decided as he reached out to grab the man’s hand.
He just looked back at him blankly, maybe this is worse than he thought.
 ********
Rob looked at the human, this is the one he's supposed to protect, he knew it.
At the briefing, the people told him to become his friend, that that was the best way to protect a human.
Now they told him the best way to do that was to talk to them, they said it was the same as befriending an angle... just they didn't have wings. Rob looked at the ground, he already embarrassed himself once in front of the human and he wasn't gonna do it again.
The human looked about his age so maybe he could befriend it by talking to it like he does his friends... yah maybe that's why he was so confused by my first greeting?
Rob decided on it "hey man-" rob cut off, what the hell was he supposed to say next what do humans like to do? The human was looking at him expectantly, shit he had to finish his sentence.
"D-do you like walking?" rob mentally facepalmed as soon as he said it, this is gonna be a long day.
 ******
Preston looked up at the man, he had started talking but then just stopped?
Now he was just standing there, this confused look on his face. "Do you like walking?"
Preston almost laughed, was this dude ok? Like seriously.
He decided to go with it
"Yah of course dude? Who doesn't."
 **********
"Who doesn't" the human stated nonchalantly.
"Me." Rob though bitterly, he decided against saying that aloud, so instead he just hummed.
*****
Thunder cracked above them and Preston felt the first raindrops fall, and before he could process what was happing it was pouring out.
Meanwhile the stranger was looking around like doomsday was upon them.
"I need to take him to the hospital" Preston thought with finality.
The man was just sitting there, cowering in fear from fudging raindrops.
His hoodie was already soaked and Preston just wanted to go inside.
"Follow me rob!" He called to the man as he ran to the house. He looked back to see him tripping over his own two feet.
He opened the door and motioned rob inside.
"Sorry it's messy dude I haven't clea-" Preston was interrupted by the realization that the other wasn't listening.
He was looking around in total awe again, as if he was seeing everything for the first time.
 ***********
"Follow me!" Rob heard the human scream, rob looked at him sadly, he wanted to keep watching the rain.
Rob had only heard of this in books, the weather in heaven was always perfect.
Looking up, Preston was already running at astonishing speeds towards the house.
Rob Struggled after him, how was he running so fast? He doesn't even have wings so he can't be flying!
*********
Preston watched as the stranger walked around the house, he seriously didn't know what anything was, the poor guy must of like had his entire memory erased.
Rob pointed at the tv, Preston mentally prepared himself, he can't possibly not know what a tv is??"
"What's this?" The man asked, one hundred percent sincere confusion covered his face.
"That's a tv.." Preston replied, he had to test something.
"Hey rob?" He asked, trying to sound as gentle as he could.
"Yes?" Rob looked at him happily.
"Can you remember where your from?" The smile on the stranger's face fell.
***********
"Can you remember where your from?"
Rob froze, what was he supposed to answer to that. "I'm new here.." rob forced out the words, hoping the human believed him, after all it was kinda true.
The human nodded slowly before looking back up at him. "Do you remember where you live." Preston asked. When rob didn't answer Preston continued.
"Like where's your home."
"I... I don't have one." Robs eyes were starting to tear up again.
He couldn't cry in front of the human but he missed heaven so much.
The human looked at him softly. "What happened to your home?" Robs breath caught in his throat, and he decided to at least tell him a half truth.
"I was different than the others... so they threw me out.." rob thought over his words carefully as he said them.
Preston nodded in understanding, which was weird because there's no way he should be able to understand.
"Your welcome to stay with me if you like" Preston spoke up, looking to the ground.
"Th-thanks.." rob said more to himself than anything.

Run for Cover
What have you gathered to report to your progenitors? Are your excuses any better than your senator's? He held a conference and his wife was standing by his side He did her dirty but no-one died I saw Sonny Liston on the street last night Black-fisted and strong singing Redemption Song He motioned me to the sky I heard heaven and thunder cry Run for cover Run while you can, baby, don't look back You gotta run for cover Don't be afraid of the fear, that's a played out trap, man You know you're not the only one And don't look back, just run for cover What are you waiting for, a kiss or an apology? You think by now you'd have an A in toxicology It's hard to pack the car when all you do is shame us It's even harder when the dirtbag's famous I saw my mother on the street last night All pretty and strong, singing 'the road is long' I said 'momma I know you've tried' But she fell on her knees and cried Run for cover Run while you can, baby, don't look back You gotta run for cover Don't be afraid of the fear, that's a played out trap, man I know you're not the only one And don't look back, just run for cover And there was nothing she wouldn't give Just to trust him with her nightmares, with her dreams She's running, she's running Just to trust him He got a big smile, he's fake news Just run for cover, you've got nothing left to lose Run for cover Run while you can, baby, don't look back You gotta run for cover Don't be afraid of the fear, that's a played out trap, man You know you're not the only one And don't look back, just run for cover ...
