Greg Gillespie, author of Barrowmaze and other OSR titles, has launched a Kickstarter for his Dragonslayer Role-Playing Game.
I've mentioned before that many of us who started with a "Basic" edition of D&D never actually played AD&D as written, but added AD&D's best new rules to Basic's cleaner structure. That's exactly what Dragonslayer is meant to be by design. From his pitch:
Most of us kept using the Basic Engine (elegantly restated by Tom Moldvay in 1981) and grafted the chrome of First Edition onto our existing style of play. We used First Edition spells, character classes, monsters, and all the adventures. We left behind lame rules that bogged down gameplay and made it feel like actuarial science (for example, counting segments for spells or weapon-speed factors, among others). This wasn't Moldvay Basic and it wasn't First Edition. This was the edition we all played. We called it .75 or halfway between BX and 1E. This is the ruleset that I've played for decades. This is how I play medieval fantasy role-playing games. This is the way…I want to play fantasy role-playing games.

Pregnant Abbott Mural, Zombie Deer Disease: The top 10 headlines in San Antonio this week | San Antonio News | San Antonio

Judging by the Current‘s most-read stories this week, San Antonians’ imaginations were captured by a scene of domestic bliss depicted on the wall of a vacant Southtown building. Said scene showed fervent gay-marriage…

In the late 1970s, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) famously—and controversially—defended the right of neo-Nazis to march through the Chicago suburb of Skokie, Illinois, which was home to many Holocaust survivors. It was a defining moment for the group and for the idea that free speech, no matter how vile, must be guaranteed to everyone.

Otus, one of the first generation of TSR artists, is beloved by generations of D&D gamers. His body of work epitomizes the art of D&D from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many gamers began playing D&D with Otus' drawings as a backdrop. Seminal TSR box sets, manuals, magazines, and prepackaged adventures incorporated Otus' psychedelic palette and equally colorful adventurers... Otus depicted ordinary people in extraordinary situations, and, in doing so, invited gamers to see themselves in his art. Locked in a life and death struggle with bizarre alien-like monsters, these absurdly dressed adventurers highlight the quirky humor of old-school D&D. Caught in situations beyond their control, Otus' existential depiction of old-school adventurers elicits both amusement and pathos.

Marylène Pion.
Les héritiers de la Calder Wood. La dame de compagnie. Tome 1. 345 pages.

“We wrote "Stars" in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are many forces trying to divide us in the midst of this crisis. However, we believe that ultimately we are stronger together and our humanity will unite us. Lyrically, we were inspired by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote, ‘Only in the darkness can you see the stars.’ When things seem their worst, we can often find guiding lights shining and leading us back to our better selves.” - Landroid (Cooper Gillespie and Greg Gordon)

Al Blue Note, questa settimana
THE LEGENDARY JOHNNY O’NEAL TRIO 8 Novembre 2022
AARON PARKS – Little Big 10 Novembre 2022
Aaron Parks piano Greg Tuohey chitarra Chris Morrissey basso elettrico e contrabbasso Josh Dion batteria
AZIZA – Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Lionel Loueke & Eric Harland 11 Novembre 2022
Dave Holland contrabbasso Chris Potter sax Lionel Loueke chitarra Eric Harland batteria
LEE RITENOUR 12 e 13 Novembre 2022
Lee Ritenour chitarra Otmaro Ruiz piano/tastiere Pera Krstajic basso Wesley Ritenour batteria
