Chapter three: Heartwrecker
Vivid images of Manuel have caught Augusta in her dream and had held a suffocating grip upon her for uncountable amount of time. She did not expect it, she was thinking she buried him with all his lies and games deep in the soil. They were happy like never before, there was no preservations, no walls between them. In this dream, it seemed like Augusta was straight. Manuel was having an aromatic coffee with almond syrup in a beautifully, richly decorated porcelain cup. It was his usual ritual. Only now, she smelt the fresh scent and its sweetness more then she used to in real life. It was like waking up, realising things that she has always preferred to keep far from her mind. Avoidance. Manuel stood up while holding a teacup in his right hand and smiled to her. It made Augusta feel unbearable grief somewhere in her chest. Very deep. He asked if she had seen his book. She nodded but he put his drink on the table and approached her instead of focusing on the item he was looking for. The kiss he has put on her lips tasted like almond coffee. Then, they got naked and made love but it was lacking all of the passion, any sexual desire, dummy and fake. Yet, she was full of love in this dream. It was like giving a gratitude, support and emotional kind of love for the man she has always struggled to please in the real life and the other way around. They barely slept together. At the beginning of the marriage, it was odd, conservative and just to get it done because people are animals and they are easy. As the time was passing, they completely stopped. Besides the fact that she really loved him on an emotional level she could never feel it and show it during their strange intercourses. Augusta was thinking that he probably knew something is not right because of the strangeness of her motions. A woman like her undoubtedly was very passionate and talented on the art of physical love so there was no explanation why it was like that. However, in this dream, except she did not feel any sexual satisfaction, it felt quite normal. It was more like eating or drinking or reading a good book rather than experiencing orgasms but still that was something she wished to have when Manuel was alive. Maybe, that way she would be a better wife and show him how real her love was. That was what she was thinking when she woke up from this curiosity. She missed him and after the dream, it was hard to keep her mind occupied on other things than harking back all those years and moments with Manuel. The tears appeared on her cheek again but this time, there were just few short drops that she wiped immediately and focused on doing her make-up. She found herself homophobic thoughts about her again. How could she accept that she ruined her marriage, lied to the man of her life and lost so much time it was impossible to get back and even if it would be possible, she could not change it? The notification in her phone rang. It was Loca. “Can’t wait to see you tonight. L.” Augusta poured herself a glass of wine instead of breakfast, took few strong sips and texted back “Hope that you are going to fuck me hard after that exhibition”.
*
In the evening, Augusta was almost finishing the bottle of wine. She also found some time to eat greek salad for dinner and finished working on revising the accounting documents. She opened second bottle when her servant knocked on the door to announce that Diego has arrived. And he is very nervous, added Mallorca before letting him in as Augusta told her to do so. “¿Qué paso?” she asked him right after she ran into the room. “Somebody set one of our two storages on fire. It completely burnt. We lost the entire system in it, not mentioning hug amount of pesos worth of the stuff. We lost about million pesos all in all. Also, there’s fuckin Chela. She says we owe her money for it because it’s her production and that’s the fault of our bodyguards who were not able to protect the zone. Also, they are in the hospital with burns of the third stage. We lost more than a half of our business. And we owe same amount to that stupid whore.” Augusta walked over the room and and held her forehead. She sat on the bed. “But, we’re gonna find a way out of that. We’re not going to jail or anything, Auggie.” she called her the name she used when she was younger and mostly, Manuel addressed her that way. She looked at him surprised. He leaned near her and held her face staring into her eyes. “What the fuck are you doing?” she asked freeing herself from his hands and looking the other way. “Don’t pretend you haven’t realised it yet. I know now, you’re a lesbian, but I don’t care. I have always loved you. That’s why I’m always by your side and that’s why I lied to Manuel that time. He was like a brother to me but this was the ultimate moment when I chose you. You don’t even now how many times I fantasised about you, about your body, your..” she slapped him in the face and only than he stopped talking. “You are both worth nothing, liars and idiots. If you won’t find a way out of this mess with the storage soon, you’re going to jail. Alone. I told you what I’d do. Nobody will suspect me. Wake the fuck up! I’m using a guy I considered a friend I could trust because he got hard thinking about my breasts! You’re really out of your mind, Diego. Get yourself together, maybe some girls for the night and stop with this mierda!” He stood up and drank wine from her glass in one sip. “I don’t know what I was thinking. Just accept it please, I’m gonna try to get it out of my head. It won’t affect our friendship. I promised it to Manuel. That I will be there with you. Not that I’d take care of you because we both knew like Manuel that if anything, it would be the other way around. You’re the strongest person I’ve ever know. I just want you to know that you can count on me, like you’ve always could.” he said calmly. Augusta looked calmer but she still nodded her head ironically, without a shadow of a smile. She did not know how to perceive Diego. She never knew and she never will. When he left, she decided to start preparing for the night with Loca. She was trying to get together the puzzles of the idea to get the situation with the storage room solved, with a little help from this attractive, incredibly tempting young woman. It was the only way the business could remain intact.

Chapter two: Firestarter
[music]
Chela woke up as usual, with the first rays of light at about five o’clock. She put on her worn up slippers and lit a cigar instead of preparing proper breakfast. She only put an electric kettle on the gas in order to make black coffee. Few minutes later, a brunette, young man came into the kitchen as well trying to wash away tiredness by rubbing his eyes. Canek was surprisingly busy those days. Chela was looking at him suspiciously for a while. He was like a son for her, therefore she was worried.  “Morning, ¿Demasiado temprano? Or should I ask why have you been coming back so late recently?” she leaned on the windowsill holding up her cigarette. “Too early. I found new extra job, you know.” he said looking for something unclassified because his tiredness made him think to slow.  “Water’s just boiled if you need coffee.” she put the cigar in her mouth and took the kettle, then poured water into her glass as well as to the other one she picked up. “What kind of job is it?” Asked Chela while handing him his coffee. “Well, nothing much. Just some guard thing” “Where?” Chela was not very happy. “Local bar. They needed a guy for the entry.” he sipped a bit from the glass. “Canek, it’s not a good idea. First of all, you have to be alive each morning to look after the production and also cooperate. You need to control the additional sales. It’s too risky. Somebody can find out. You know, some clubbing kids can ask you about buying openly because they heard you have it and other guards would hear it. We are done then. Besides, this buffoon lady will kill us all if anything spoils out.  “Ayy, Chela. Don’t preach. Everything is under control. I need extra money. It’s really nice, I can look for girls, we have free drink after work...” “Free drinks are not for you because you come back home right after you finish your shift and go to fucking bed because you have your job in the morning. Is it understandable?” she said in a very serious tone. “Chela, don’t overreact. I’m not a kid, I know how to take care of my shit and our shit. You can trust me”. “If I wouldn’t trust you, who in this fucking world I would?” she said more to herself looking ahead. “You have ten minutes.” She said and left the kitchen to finish her coffee and smoke one more cigarette in the living room. Chela knew Canek lied about girls but they have never spoken about that.

Coco was hoping to go partying with her girlfriend but she informed her that she is having some preparations for the job because she got through to the next part of the recruitment process. She decided to spend an evening with her friends and talk about make-up and new relationships within the rich society.  As the evening was slowly coming, Loca started to prepare for her date with Augusta. It was actually the first time she was thinking that she really broke the line with all these courtships. It could cost her a lot if the gossips about Augusta’s taste would be all tonterías or if she would not be interested. Everything could come out and it would make her lose Coco and what was more important, his father’s business could suffer from it as well. Most of the affairs there were depending on what other important and rich people would think and say. Nevertheless, it was too hard for her to not try. It was like a dream. Every young girl wants to meet an American actor and fall in love with him. Loca was having kinda a flashback attitude to this. Obviously, it was different because she was going to sleep with Augusta but majority of Mexico City knew who she was. And she was not a celebrity, more of a businesswoman and a successful person but still her fame was almost everywhere and whenever she goes out somewhere she is catching eyes and some people even take photos of her with the mobile phone. Loca put on a black shirt, used some cologne and put up her hair with a styling gum. Lastly, she added her wooden beaded bracelets and signets. She was ready. The butler took her to the address she said - four numbers further than Lagos mansion, opposite side of the road. When Loca reached el hogar de Lagos, she ringed the bell. Augusta herself opened the door. She was looking stunning in a tight dress, stocking that were visible from underneath it and strong make-up. The smell of expansive perfumes immediately came to Loca’s nostrils. “Welcome en mi casa. I’m glad we can discuss the business” she said in a very serious tone.  Without further a do, she begun to pour red wine to the glasses. Loca took a look through the rooms. They were wonderful, very rich and looked a bit like a classic art museum. With all her appreciation, Loca was quite surprised anyone is able to live in those interiors. Augusta was probably very lonely most of the time. Loca was appreciating the paintings on the wall when Augusta came finally and handed her the glass. The dame put the curtains on and took a sip of her drink.  “Do you like them?” she asked surprisingly. “Yes. They look peculiar. I like campy things. This may seem like the reason why is the choice of the colors but I think there’s something more.” replied Loca focusing on the art piece. “You know something about it, I see.” Augusta was not expecting any kind of wisdom from this rich, spoiled girl but she probably judged her poorly. “I was an art curator before I met Manuel. I studied in Venice. Well, afterwards I stood by my passion collecting paintings.” “Did you also paint by yourself?” asked Loca and turned her face towards the woman. Augusta was not expecting that she will be speaking with Loca at all. The plan was different but something pushed her into the conversation, Maybe, a loneliness was the real reason why she was wearing her wide range of masks. She looked on her glass and again on the young woman. “I used to. For a short period.” this question triggered some harsh throwbacks she was not expecting.  She drunk the rest from the glass in a one sip and look into Loca’s eyes.  Loca was enjoying the conversation but she understood her place. She took another sip, really huge one and put a glass on the table as well. Loca put her hands on Augusta’s hips and kissed her lips passionately. The woman’s cheeks became redder which was quite unexpected but they decided to speak no more. Loca sat her on the table and kissed while the older woman was leaning back and moaning. Augusta unzipped Loca’s trousers breathing heavily. She stood up and took her hand to show where the bedroom was. Loca took off her dress. Underneath she had a very elegant bra and stockings that were matching also the pants. Loca took off her trousers where she had black Calvin Klein trunks. Augusta unzipped her shirt were there was no bra because the younger woman has had this great, small body features almost every tomboy or butch would kill for. The older woman smiled and kissed her. Loca massaged her gently to the point Augusta was satisfied and then the older woman went down on her. Young Lopez held her head while she was doing that. When she finished, Augusta took a tissue to fix her lips and looked to the mirror that stood on a bedside table to check if her make-up is still on fleek. She came back to bed and they continued. They laid down for a while. Loca kissed her hand. “Would you like to come by soon again?” asked finally Augusta. “Would you allow me to invite you for an art exhibition first? Then, we can enjoy ourselves like tonight”.  Augusta was quite surprised. “You are too brave, Lauren” she said quite impressed by her. “Loca” replied a younger woman and brushed short, black hair with her right hand. “Nobody calls my Lauren except my parents.” “Well, it suits you better at least” was Augusta’s response. “We can go to an exhibition first but you’re not inviting me. We just go. I have an entry for an opening of Damien Hirst new thing. I will send you the details via e-mail you attached in your application. It’s on Friday.” “Two days and I will see you again, than” said Loca looking into Augusta’s eyes and kissed her gently.  There was something that was cutting her inside in that woman. “I gotta go now.” she took her phone and made a call to her butler. “He’s going to be there in a quarter. I have time for a little extra”. Augusta felt strange when she was closing the door behind Loca. Like the loneliness she was feeling inside was finally hitting her in the hardest possible way. She was not stupid. She was not young. It was the most silly idea right now to get involved. Manuel’s death, meeting with Chela, lies, playing the role of a perfect wife for all these years. It was all too much even for her. The fighter, The warrior. She got back to the room, closed the doors to her bedroom so the servants will not disturb her and burst into tears.

Chapter one: Fighter.
Augusta was having a strange day feeling a little dizzy that day when she got a call from el barrio. The truth was that she used to not be at ease for a while now but she got no clearer idea why that was happening. When she heard Diego’s voice, she automatically sat down. Diego has been a long time family friend and what was more important, her husband Manuel’s closest business partner. When she told her that Manuel had been shot, she tried to act emotional but it was hard for her to get into that mood. She decided not to go much into nervous mode because Diego knew her quite well and it was not necessary. At least not while facing him because later she will be forced to be the best drama actress. She lit a cigarette and spent a while in silence looking through the window, quite mute inside.
For days, Augusta was trying to kill time. Everybody except Diego was thinking that she was moved by Manuel’s dead like every wife ‘should be’. The truth was completely different. She was reflecting on company’s future. Funeral was a huge, tiresome event were Augusta was struggling to look great, strong and also to show that she is broken by her husband’s death. Obviously, she was not crying because even if she would have loved Manuel she would not do that. People knew her as a warrior, fighter. Strong, independent woman who happened to be married with an influential man but was able to direct him the way she wanted. Most of the time. The only exception was his company. Looking up on the burnt ashes of her man, Augusta was thinking only about how much she used to hate him for lying to her til the last breath. Was she missing him and was she wishing that he would not be shot dead? No. However sharp it would be sounding, in Augusta’s eyes Manuel was deserving that. Involving into that business was stupid and greedy at the first place. He has finally received what he was asking for. Nobody in straight senses would be starting dark affairs with some drug creators from the Mexican suburban slums. After the funeral, Augusta planned her few days of detoxication or more forwardly speaking, toxication. She invited show girls, ordered weed and lots of brandy. She smiled to herself while getting her next inhale and kissed the half naked blonde thinking that she won anyway because her secret was never revealed by Manuel. He could go fuck himself now.  Almost two weeks later, she decided to finally call Diego and discuss the future of the company. He arrived very soon. Diego smelt alcohol but he was not drunk. “¿Cómo lo llevas?” he asked her how she was holding up but she bursted into ironic laugh instead of replying at once. “Oh, don’t be stupid, Diego. I wanted to speak with you about the business”.  He lit a cigarette looking compulsively at it instead of meeting Augusta’s eyes. He inhaled it and observed from different angles, than got back to the conversation. “How long do you know?” he asked finally. She laughed nervously again. “How long? You are both stupid imbeciles. Five years? More? You really thought you could hold it from me forever?” Diego rubbed his forehead. “Listen, I told Manuel it’s a bad idea. You are too smart. We should’ve get you involved from the beginning but he said you have a pure heart and he respects you too much to get you into this dirty business.” “My fucking god, he said he respects me too much. Liar. I don’t believe him and you. I don’t trust you anymore”. she took a sip of her drink looking in different direction. “Augusta, that’s something else. Escúchame” Diego looked at his hands nervously because he was unsure if he should bring it up now. “I saw you once with a woman. I left, tried to forget and never told that to Manuel. He never knew because I asked him once if he thinks you’re having affairs like him and he laughed. He said that obviously, you have many younger men because he found some trunks in your closet.” He breathed heavily. “I still think I shouldn’t have lied to him. This was the only time but I couldn’t. I don’t know why. It will burn me down one day.” he focused back on his cigarette. Augusta looked at him trying to figure out why this stupid man was covering her but it impressed her somehow.  “¿Quieres una bebida? she asked him if he fancied a drink and he asked for one.  Then, he started to tell her the entire story about the company. The truth was being revealed finally after all those years and it made Augusta feel angry even more. Her husband has put them all in life risking danger about twenty five years ago just because he wanted to become a millionaire faster. There were now two ways to act. Diego presented to Augusta what could they do now. They could rather expose themselves to the police, get Diego and all the employees imprisoned but stop this procedure. Augusta most likely would not have to respond for Manuel’s crimes by the court because she had no idea nad it was not the hardest to prove it but she was still risking a lot. Other option was to just continue with her as a CEO. She laughed in a cold manner again. “There’s some bad shit but there’s also no coming back, let’s be honest Diego. We’re gonna die because of this one day too. Because of this bastard. I’m taking the board and the company remains intact. I’m gonna pay a visit to this puta who takes care of the production and who also happened to be fucked by my husband” she said  and finished the rest of her drink in one sip. “Augusta, but... what happened? You used to love him once. Like for real.” he asked very calmly. “For what it’s worth, I loved him more than anything in the world. I’m fucking pissed because first of all, I couldn't love him the way I wanted because I prefer sleeping with women and also after I found out this motherfucker is so desperate on money and position. When I met him first he once normal, hard-working, ambitious, educated, smart, loving man. When he saw some money on his accounts, he’s gone completely crazy. It was a toxic love. I hated him probably even more than I loved him”. “He was a motherfucker indeed.” replied Diego. “He was a fucking stupid motherfucker.
*
When Augusta arrived to el barrio with her bodyguard, first feeling she got was embarrassment. She took off the keys from the ignition, looked in the mirror in her car, fixed her lipstick and told the bodyguard to wait in the car.  SHe knocked on the door. It was Chela herself. She was expecting her for almost two weeks but she was kinda expecting police arrest at same strength instead. “Hola” said a cheap looking woman with a challenging facial expression. “¿Qué quieres?  “Hola, puta. I’m Manuel’s wife and I want to talk about the business continuation”.  “Let’s make it quick” said Chela, took a look around outside, held cigarette in her mouth and opened both sides of the door to let her in. Afterwards, she closed them and closed quite a few locks. “Vale, straightly to the facts. I’m the owner of the company now. Diego will still be the main partner. You will still be paid on same rules, you can keep my guards. Export will still work same way. Although, for a change you’re telling everything to me first, do you understand? Not to Diego or anybody else. To me. If you will break this rule, I am exposing everything. I have proofs that my husband have never put me into business. There’s gonna be no sign that I am joining now so you’ll all go to fucking prison expect me. Do you get what I'm talking about?” Chela closed her arms on the breast level why she was listening to her.“Yes, I do and I think I can agree for that”. “Perfectamente.” Augusta took a look inside but Chela stopped her. “Show me the workrooms now”. After that Chela sighed and showed Augusta the way. They went further, ladrona opened another locked doors and revealed a huge room with many tables were there was lots of fume and employers who were working like on production line. Chela stood unimpressed smoking her cigarette while Augusta was having a tour. Few minutes later, the elegant woman decided to leave this dirty, rusty place.  “For the record, I am a lesbian” said Augusta, smiled sharply to Chela and left.

“Honey, you look perfect!” squeaked Coco when she finished fixing her girlfriend’s tie. “You’re going to get this job for sure. But you know, I don’t think you need it. You could do like modelling, or I don’t know. Act in a commercial. No need for that. But you know, how sexy it is that you are so ambitious. My gf is so great and smart. Yasss. She kissed her on the lips. “Be careful, babe. You’re gonna leave me red and I have to go now. The butler is waiting” said Loca and went downstairs. When she arrived at the Lagos headquarters, suddenly lots of pressure floated onto her. All the best educated (or best family status holders) in Mexico were applying there, mostly with no luck. It has made Loca thinking about the years when she was planning the future and education. Would she do anything differently if she could choose again? She was not sure. The rumour had it that it was Augusta Lourdes Lagos herself recruiting because the job had the highest standard and also after her husband’s death, the woman was leading the company on her rules so it was important for her to to this. Loca was overwhelmed by Augusta’s elegant beauty since the first moment she saw her on some of the business events for rich people but her interest was even longer because everybody, especially at Loca’s age, knew who she was. When they called her in she realised the rumour was truth. Lauren immediately loosed one button of her shirt because she felt it was getting hot. Augusta took a look into her resume and then finally, gave her a gaze. She stared for a little longer than it was necessary. “Por favor siéntese” the woman directed her to take a sit and Loca did so. The interview was about an hour. Their talk was showing that Augusta was intrigued by young woman’s story but also the truth was that she had no higher education. For their company it was a no go even if they were inviting those kind of people to the meetings as well if they were born into the so called “right families” but it was just for the commercials. Greatest company en la Ciudad de Mexico gives a chance to everybody and all that shit. They have never really hired anybody with no higher education diploma. Augusta wanted to finally say that so this woman would not have any expectations but surprisingly, she interrupted her. “Okay, I think it’s the time for me to say why I am here. I heard something that made me hard... to fall asleep at night.” Loca stood up thanking herself that she got few shots before going there because it was very risky. She approached Augusta who could not say a word to that yet and and moved her face very close to her own. The masculine perfumes Loca used in the morning were highly recognisable by Augusta. They were very attractive same like this reckless woman.  “Augusta, I didn’t come here because of an interview. My parents are rich and influencing. I don’t need this job nor I have the qualifications. Let’s be honest, I came here because you’re the most seductive woman in Mexico and I want you so badly.” The elder woman closed her eyes feeling the lust growing in her. This girl was either stupid or incredibly bold but very tempting. Augusta attempted to kiss her but Loca withheld her face and touched the women’s neck instead. She moved her fingers lower to her cleavage line. Augusta started to breath heavier and then, Loca put her hand on the older women’s neck, moved it closer to her quickly and kissed with passion. They were both breathing loudly after this. “Would you come up to visit me to discuss the business tonight, then?” asked Augusta, touched Loca’s leg and moved her hand upper until she almost touched the certain place. “Without any doubts, Augusta” replied Loca and kissed her again.
