What's This? Another Masterpost?
Hello! You can call me Music-chan or MrsMusica or just straight up Music if you like. I'm a musician and a writer and currently I am very much into the Legend of Zelda fandom.
While you're here, why don't you check out my current magnum opus:
Father of Time
In an alternate universe, the Fierce Deity is freed from his mask and adopts a young Link. This is updated about every 4 days! And don't forget to check out the winter holiday I created to use in the OOT/MM era, Starfall Wishes! It's set around chapter 5 of my Deity fic.
See below for links to other fanfics I've finished!
Linked Universe Fics
Defeat or Deity: The Chain fights something they're not sure they can win against and Time uses the Fierce Deity mask. But maybe the deity does not want to let go. Well, Sky isn't going to stand for that.
Puzzles: Maybe Warriors was missing out on the Hero of Courage experience by never having done a dungeon or a temple. Maybe he's about to find out what it's like.
The Unbearable Weight of Three Days: It was three days, over and over and over again. But it was over, right? He would never have to do it again.
You Want to Talk to Link, Right?: The Hero of Time used to play a song to talk to his friend, Saria. What if he also had a song?
Hey Link!: What is a man to do when travelling with 8 people with the same name?
The Inn at the End of Time: He has met a terrible fate
And Time Again & A Moment of Time, a Deep Blue Sky: Two follow up stories to a non-LU fic I did about the Hero of Time
So You Want To Be A Hero: An introspective Hyrule-centric fic
You Don't Have to Feel Safe to Feel Unafraid: A gift fic I did for a creator Discord server I'm on! It's basically crack idea, treated seriously. MM Link and BotW Link trade places.
A Wild Time at Calamity Ganon: This was an unprompted gift fic for an artist on tumblr I really enjoy! The young Hero of Time finds himself in a ruined castle and look! It's yet another Link! More crack for sure.
Other Zelda Fics
Too Much Healing, Rauru: A TotK fic and my first one on AO3! Link finds himself in a cave with a mysterious voice in his head again. Maybe there were a few extra things in his head as well.
Time and Time Again: Link has made it to the Temple of Time and he's going to save Hyrule from Ganondorf! Or will he? (This has two LU fics to go along with it)
The Silent Realm: What did the Hero of the Skies think of the Silent Realm?
A Wonderful Dream: Was it all just a dream? Set in Link's Awakening
Remainder of the Sky: Skyloft is falling and Link has many thoughts. This one is so beautiful and I love it.

TOTK ENDING SPOILERS
So I absolutely loved the dragon sky fight. It was cinematic, it felt good to play through, it was a literal upwelling. At the same time as it absolutely felt like a step above the Calamity, it also felt like -- this Link isn't intimidated, this Link has done this before, this Link is ready to take this guy down.
I did enjoy the Ganondorf fight, and the display of his swordsmanship! He perfect dodged me so many times. But it did feel slow. Like literally sluggish. The way he moved was just...like he was floating slowly toward me, and I gotta say it wasn't super scary. Even when he became the Demon King, Master of the Secret Stone it felt slow and not threatening. But my big complaint is...still don't super get his motivations. Like he wants to rule the world, why does he want to destroy all life?
Okay so my big gripe tho is that saving Zelda should have been a quest. It should have been separate. At the very least, it should have involved talking to Rauru and Sonia. Let it be a quick conversation about how idk people who become dragons with secret stones to seek Power or Immortality lose themselves forever, but Zelda did it because of LOVE FOR HER FRIENDS (if they don't wanna say she loves link, which like, SHE DOES) and so the power of love will remind her of who she is!
But it really should have been a quest. I kept going to Impa being like "you said we'll find a way to fix Zelda, let's find a way" and stuff. But no progress.
Overall I really enjoyed the game and will love playing it to 100% and I hope there's DLC! I'm (probably on purpose, fuck u Nintendo) still confused about the timeline. Sonia was a HYLIAN, she was a PRIESTESS, so Hylia was already a thing on the surface and not in the sky yet. Or, Skyward Sword had already happened? it being Ganondorf means Demise was already sealed right? But if Skyward Sword happened already, where is the Hero, why are Sonia and Rauru so ignorant about the Hero and the Sword? Why is it *Rauru's* sealing power, his light power? Zelda in BOTW is the Goddess Blood Princess, right, according to Kass.
Is Sonia descended of Zelda/Hylia? Or is she before Zelda/Hylia?
Like always I feel like Nintendo was purposefully like "what will people try to place this as? alright how can we fuck up every possible placement in the timeline, we are actively hostile to ppl who want to know that"
Anyway, my fic is going to be largely canon compliant except for two things -- the Hero is descended of the Fierce Deity, and saving Zelda needs a reason and a good adventure to figure out how to save her.
Also, Link should have kept Rauru's arm...or lost his arm in the end. Let the poor boy retire.
AND WHY DID YOU TAKE AWAY MY SHIRT!

thoughts on the big ganondorf fight(s)! i totally forgot to post them, but i got THOUGHTS INDEED.
okay first off, RLY wish we had a cooler arena for the humanoid fights. Just A Dark Room(TM) felt boring and dull. it would've been neater to slowly walk into deeper and deeper darkness, until finding a light root. then when you light it up, you're face-to-face with The Horrors(TM) (like idk a bunch of gibdo corpses, creepy gloom, whatever) and ganondorf awaiting you. and then you gotta fight in the creepy depths arena lit only by the light root with all the outside edges of the arena pitch-dark and very spooky scary. just. just anything, pls.
MY MAN CAN FLURRY RUSH OUT OF MY FLURRY RUSH?? WHAT. the way i actually screamed when i did a flurry rush (which i rarely do successfully i am SO bad at timing) and he flurry rushed out of it and beat the shit out of me. or when i'd do a flurry rush and he'd just do a sick backflip. what the fuck. why is he so AGILE.
again, HOW IS HE SO AGILE?? he is HUGE and was doing backflips and front flips and flying through the fucking air PRE-DEMON KING MAGIC FORM. if i didn't have to do the stupid army bit every time id love to just go back to watch him do his insane acrobatics.
to beat him i literally had to shove him into a corner against the wall so he'd stop back-flipping away from me. literally every time i would try to hit him he'd slow-motion backflip away and i was going to lose if i did not fudge it a little.
apparently when a dragon dies it causes a NUCLEAR EXPLOSION? PARDON?
also why is it HIS secret stone ends back up on his forehead, but zelda's remains in her tummy?? both of them ate their stones, it made zero sense.
god his demon king form is SO sexy.
lowkey him eating the secret stone, just the intensity of how he seemed to shove it down his own throat? also kinda sexy im weird im sorry.
it took me a total of three hours-ish to beat him, including my first try. as cited to blue, i needed the following to beat him: fierce deity armor (all save for the headpiece at 3 star, headpiece at 2 star), gloom-resistant food, defense-up food, LOTS of gloom removal food, LOTS of heart-up food, and so many prayers.
OH AND I FORGOT, THE FACT HE CAN PERMANENTLY REMOVE YOUR HEARTS?? I WAS SCREAMING?? BRO WHAT THE FUCK??? if i didn't have all that fucking extra heart food he'd have KILLED ME. literally was about to go into a rage if i lost after struggling SO hard.
the dragon fight was super fun and i found it very rewarding, personally, after getting my ass beaten into a blood stain. i honestly don't mind a super easy final fight after a really hard fight, it feels like a lil 'u did it!' final lap.
all in all, i was caught between being SUPER pleased at how hard he was and how they made him rightfully super tough, and also dying because PLEASE nintendo i JUST want to see the last few cutscenes my GOD.
not ganondorf related, but i did like how the game ends with link finally being able to grab zelda, and it was nice to yknow, do it urself. i almost wanted to see what happens if u let zelda go splat but i didnt wanna replay the boss fights if it restarted u. STILL do not like everybody swearing fealty, i didn't like it with the og sages and rauru, ESPECIALLY did not vibe with it and zelda.
idk how to exactly put it into words, it just puts everyone on a subservient level to her when they rly should be kicking the outdated monarchy system to the curb and functioning as equals each trying to boost up their individual societies and hyrule as a whole. but it was rly funny to see link wearing his usual resting bitch face while everyone else is fumbling thru their vow.

More thoughts on Totk.
Wasn't the Master Sword fully restored in the last game? Why is the Deku Tree telling me it is only now fully restored? Plus, why did Link go get it? The whole point is that the Hero only needs the blade in dire need. When they went to get the MS, there was no apparent danger that necessitated the use of it. But I guess Link just carries that thing around now.
I still miss the idea of Sages making the Master Sword and not Hylia. :/
Also, the Deku Tree noted that he could feel the Master Sword moving. But er.... if this is a time loop, then shouldn't he have noticed how odd it was there were two Master Swords at some point? That shit don't add up if I'm being honest.
Lmao, there is a side quest referencing Lord of the Rings.
And I found the "It's a secret to everyone!" line! I always love finding that line in these games.
Real talk but the lighting in this game is pretty bad..... Like, truly terrible.
Phantom-Zelda is weird, because she is SUPPOSED to be Phantom Ganondorf in disguise, but then in his infinite evil... tells a bunch of researchers to wear underwear publicly instead of clothes. It made me laugh but like, weird choice bro.
There is a order to the memories and you are guided to find them IN order but like... I'm not going to walk away from a memory I find just because it's not "in order". So here is the current order of memories I have found:
1. Intro scene where Ganondorf awakens.
2. The scene where Ganondorf attempts to send a bunch of Molguda towards Hyrule. Rauru uses his power, along side Sonia and Zelda, to basically laser-blast them in the face. Ganondorf is all "hmmm, I need one of those stones". I don't know how he managed to see the stone from that distance but ok. And of course, Zelda's light is MUCH bigger than Sonia's.
3. The actual "first" memory, when Zelda awakens in the past and meets Rauru and Sonia.
4. The actual second memory, where Zelda realizes she is in the past, and Sonia and Rauru agree to take her to the castle. (They basically outright say that she is related to both of them. How cross-breeding of races work here I have no idea).
5. And now Sonia is apparently dead since Rauru is at her grave. Zelda tells Rauru that Ganondorf is still alive in her time and that they will fail tomorrow when trying to attack Ganondorf. Rauru says that maybe things will go differently since Zelda is here now, and she must be here for a reason.
6. All the Sages... become Sages. Rauru basically handed out secret stones to his favorite people, kek. Well, not exactly, but that is what it kinda felt like.
7. Oops, got the last memory of Zelda holding the Master Sword and hoping it will reach Link in the future (more on that in a second).
Oops accidentally got the MS already. Ok, here is what happened. I straight up could not find Hetsu. I had 100 Korok seeds and mommy needed more inventory space. I figured that if I triggered the events in Lost Woods then Hestu would appear (spoiler, he didn't). Anyways, so I went to the Lost Woods and defeated Phantom Ganon that lurked inside the Deku Tree (nice callback to OoT and LoZ). Now the Deku Tree tells me that the Master Sword is moving, so weird and all. But I figured I would get it later. I managed to come across the "get the fierce deity outfit" side quest and so of course I had to do it. I decided to fling myself up in the air so I can traverse across the land to one of the piece locations faster. Well, it just so happened that Zelda-dragon was flying by as I did this so.... Well, I just had to get it then. I already had the stamina since Botw trained me that you get stamina before heart pieces, so.... Yeah. Oops. At this point I hadn't even done a single dungeon yet.
SPEAKING of Hetsu, he is so easy to miss. He is "technically" on the guided path set out by you by the main quest, but he is still off the beaten path AND he blends into the environment. I missed him entirely the first time I ran by. This is the only thing I actively looked up because I got tired of having 120 Korok seeds and no Hetsu to give them to. Honestly, Botw did this better.
And speaking of NPCs, some NPCs just don't know Link. Hetsu acts as if he never met Link before. Weird. He's not the only one either, actually. But the world feels more alive. I'm constantly running into NPCs that either give me solid advice, give me a little side quest, or hint at cool stuff around the corner. Very well done imo.
OK, let's move on to the Rito Dungeon. The climb to the dungeon was a bit too long, but that last bit where you hop from boat to boat was probably some of the best Zelda experiences ever, especially the last throw up into the air and you can just see everything. Unfortunately, the dungeon was terrible. It was tiny and easy, and it was basically 5 shrine puzzles thrown together. I actually encountered some harder shrines than this entire dungeon.
The boss, though, was a stellar spectacle. Flying in the air with a boss like that was amazing. Easy boss though, it was barely a fight. But it was more spectacle than substance, and sometimes those bosses are ok too.
Tulin, however, is incredibly annoying af. Please stop talking to me while I fight, thank you.
After beating the boss, you meet the past Rito Sage. He has no name apparently, and we don't even see his face. Idk why they basically put no effort into these Sages. We NEVER see their real faces. They just wear past-Divine Beast masks basically. But he tells us that everyone survived the imprisoning war (except Rauru cause reasons) and then Zelda asked him to lend his power to Link in the future.
Overall, pretty decent cutscene. Too bad Link basically didn't react the ENTIRE FUCKING TIME.
Tulin's ability will be useful for traversal though. Very reminiscent of what OoT had planned to do with the Sage Medallions.

Fallen Hero timeline stuff
Link was defeated not long after he drew the Master Sword, age 9, but he was not actually killed. Ganondorf decided to keep him alive for a few reasons, one being to teach him the error of trying to stop him (via torture) and one being an attempt to break Zelda and those she had side with her. Fi makes what amounts to a bookmark of Link's spirit and memories of how he was when he drew her.
Link is 21 when he actually dies in that timeline. He lives for years, frequently tortured in some way even if it was simply by solitude, and at one point someone sneaks into his cell and has a night with him to have a child of the Hero in a effort to provide hope for future generations. Link is aware of this but when time 'resets' he forgets it and everything else of his memories, they get sealed away so he can do his duty as the hero without freezing because of the trauma.
The day he dies he is taken in before the Sages and Zelda where he manages to utilize his own time based magic allowing them to seal Ganon in the sacred realm. Ganon uses the Master Sword to kill him which is how he loses the form of Ganondorf and becomes simply Ganon. Link, desperate to help his successor, creates an echo which takes the Ocarina and disappears into the woods after it takes the Master Sword away to a different part of Hyrule.
The part of him that is the Hero's Spirit is 'copied' by Farore so it continues in that timeline while the sword, empowered by the Goddess Farore for this, sends him back to the day he drew her. Likewise Zelda's knowledge as well as the Sages' (at least Rauru and Impa) is echoed back and they seal Link in the sacred realm to prevent that outcome.
Fi upon the sword being taken to safety and going dormant takes Link and returns him to before the battle where he failed, that 'bookmark' she placed earlier. The battle with Majora and the use of the Fierce Deity Mask awaken the memories again and that contributes to the regrets that ultimately create the Hero's Shade. Perhaps it is fortunate that he is still somewhat caught in the time loop until he returns the mask after all...

Legend of Zelda: 25th Aniversary Poster
Tumblr media
youtube
Still can't get over this incredible masterpiece of a poster created by a Japanese artist on Pixiv named Ag+
The original image had a resolution of 1216 × 6650. Too bad Tumblr won't let me upload it in the highest resolution; if anyone knows a workaround, let me know!
There exists another version of 3588x19632 quality. The 1216px one is an original copy, and the 3588px one is something that someone enlarged and ran through photoshop filters to minimize quality loss. I don't have a source of who I got it from, but the quality is actually pretty nice for printing considering they made it thrice as large. Both these versions are now available as a 59mb zipped file on MediaFire. You can download them here.
In case the MediaFire link gets taken down in the future, notify me in the comments or shoot me a DM and I will fix it immediately.

Zelda ask
For the original, please give credit to https://cartoonzelda.tumblr.com/post/173356258115/20-zelda-asks.
Here goes! n.n
1. Top 3 incarnations of Link? BotW, TP and OoT/MM
2. Top 3 incarnations of Zelda? BotW, SS and TP
3. Favourite and least favourite companion? Fav: Tatl/Midna Least Fav: Fi
4. Three characters from previous games you would like to see again? Marin (Link’s Awakening), Din/Nayru (Oracle games), Sidon (and Mipha in flashback)
5. Favourite and least favourite boss fight? Fav: The Blights from BotW Least Fav: Manhandla (Easy mechanic. But. So. ANNOYING.)
6. Most overrated and underrated game? No idea. From what I gather, they all were critiqued fairly and adequately. Though, as much as I love those two games, OoT and BotW were perhaps a tad bit overrated. They were great, but had their issues keeping them from being as perfect as people say.
7. How many of the main series games have you beat/completed? 6
8. Top 3 4 villains? Ghirahim, Dark Link, Veran, Demise
9. Favourite Link design? BotW
10. Favourite Zelda design? TP/Hyrule Warriors
11. Favourite Ganon/Ganondorf design? TP
12. Top 3 4 items? Master Sword, Pegasus Boots, Fierce Deitie’s Mask, Instruments (Ocarina of Time, Harp of Ages, Godess’s Harp)
13. Top 3 non-hylian races? Botw Rito, BotW/TP Zora, SS Sword Spirits
14. Top 3 masks? Zora, Fierce Deity, Giant’s
15. Top 3 dungeons? Snowpeak Ruins, BotW Hyrule Castle,
16. Rank the BotW champions from favourite to least favourite. Mipha/Revali/Urbosa (all on the same tier; sorry, I so love these three), Daruk (he’s a great dude, but compared to the others... just a bit boring. And I am rather impartial to Gorons. Don’t hate them, but don’t love them either).
17. Rank the OoT sages from favourite to least favourite. Saria, Darunia, Nabooru, Impa, Ruto, Rauru
18. One thing you would change about *insert game*? BotW: The second part of the fight against Calamity Ganon. AND I’d make it so you’re not eternally stuck right before this boss battle. It’s really so annoying. This way, you technically can never finish the game.
19. Favourite location from *insert game*? So hard to choose! T.T But from the top of my head... Kakariko Village, Hateno, Zora’s Domain and Rito Village from BotW.
20. Favourite character (excluding the Triforce holders) from *insert game*? Sorry, there’s more than one... n.n BotW’s Mipha, Sidon, Revali and Teba.

a few oot!link headcanons :
he ends up growing his hair out from its short length to somewhere considerably long --- it reaches his back by his mid twenties. he keeps it tied back in a loose ponytail.
no matter how many years go by, and despite the fact that he can’t ever stay long, link visits the lost woods every so often to talk to his friend skull kid. he also visits the sacred meadow forest and to the tree stump saria would often play on, and play her song and sit there in her memory, wishing he could speak to her again.
link never really fully recovered from the horrors that he saw in the shadow temple. he has nightmares from it still years down the line. the fight against ganon and the fear he felt facing against him is nothing compared to the mind-numbing fear and terror he felt while in the shadow temple. all the blood stains, the dead hands, the torture devices and bongo bongo’s decapitated, mutilated form hanging upside down in the basement that spoke of hyrule’s long and bloody history is something link can never scrub from his brain. they were unspeakable horrors, and link learned that day that despite the wrongs and horrors that ganondorf had committed, he wasn’t the only evil that existed in the world.
he hates masks. he used to be incredibly fond of them as a kid, but after his visit to termina and encountering majora’s mask and the fierce deity mask, link hasn’t been able to view them in the same light. he left all his masks behind in termina, but despite the time, distance, and world barriers keeping him apart from them, he can still hear majora’s dark giggling in his mind. he can still hear the fierce deity mask calling out to him, imploring him to put the mask back on and give in to the power and succumb to it. the power he’d had while having the mask on had been dizzying and immeasurable. part of him itches to put it back on, and for that he’s glad he left it behind in termina.
he's incredibly proud of his descendant, tp!link, and while oot!link is at peace now, part of his spirit still lingers, ready to help any future descendants and links that may come down the line should they ever need it. he knows how difficult and heavy the burden of their destiny as hyrule’s hero can be, especially when faced alone and with no clear direction. he knows of the sacrifices that must be made and all that hylia and the goddesses’ demand of them. he wants to help ease that burden as much as he can, and hopes he can lend his courage and strength to them.
should he visit any of the future incarnations of link after his death, post-tp!, link is no longer taking the form of hero’s shade but the form he would have had during his life instead. he’s known as the hero’s spirit as well. this is due to the fact that he has come to peace with his fate, and his regrets have been eased thanks to the events of tp.
on the topic of hylia, link had never been one to pray as a kid. he grew up knowing nothing of the goddesses, not until the deku tree told him the stories of them and of hylia, of the hero garbed in green and the goddess reincarnated as the princess. it wasn’t until after he first entered the temple of time, however, that link truly understood the meaning of the goddesses, and the power they held. that was the first time he heard them speak to him, and while link never became truly religious, he would pray from time to time. especially during trying and dark times during his journey. he prayed the most, however, after his journey, after termina. he had many questions about the nature of his life, his future, his fate. he wanted to know why his fate was the way it was, if he would ever be remembered, how he could possibly pass down his knowledge to his future descendants. the last time he prayed to the goddesses was an explosive, angry kind --- and then he stopped.
following the above ^^^^, despite link’s difficulty and failure accepting the lonely outcome of his fate, he had a hard time blaming the goddesses for all that had happened, for all the time he’d lost and the future he’d been robbed of. he knew from the beginning that his destiny was a big and heavy one. he was blind to how big until he pulled the master sword from his pedestal and was forced to sleep for seven years, until rauru told him of how important his duty and his task was. how his destiny as a hero was a heavy one and that his road would be full of struggles and hardships, but that he must never complain. link knew at the tender mental age of 10 that to be a hero meant sacrifice and hardships, and he accepted this fate humbly. he never saw himself as a puppet or tool of the goddesses -- he was grateful for the opportunity to protect the people, to protect hyrule and zelda, and to save those he held dear and precious. no matter the cost to himself, he was willing to give it to protect the world and the future and past. however, there is a bitterness that he holds from the fact that after all he gave up, he had to give up everything else at the end too, after it was all over. he retained his memories, but the events themselves were erased. he was erased from history. he accepts his fate, but with a bitter and heavy resignation. it’s why he’s so adamant on helping tp!link and becoming his mentor, and why he would try his best to do the same to future incarnations.

Link (Time) Headcanons
Link was 9 when his adventure started. It was just weeks after his birthday when the Great Deku Tree called him. He was born on midsummer, and when others discover this it leads to comments about changelings and odd behaviors being explained. No one ever actually tells him what they mean by that.
He has some control over Time Magic, usually mild control like being able to slow time down a bit while doing something or speeding it up a bit but without the Ocarina of Time it doesn't do much in general except helping him out in fights or speeding up cooking. He can make a small time loop of a few days but because of how close Termina and that time loop came to killing him he avoids using time magic at all unless he has a very good reason to use it, a very very good reason.
His potions are very strong because he can sense the best plants and such for them, Kokiri Magic stuff, but they take a little extra time to actually work so he just uses store bought ones most of the time because they work quickly.
His right eye when he pools his magic there works like a lens of truth and without magic he can sometimes see where Time Magic is effecting things. The disorientation of those effects typically gives him migraines if he uses them long enough. The lens of truth effect took him a long time to learn how to 'turn it off' so he keeps that eye closed because if he is physically tired but not mentally or magically then it sometimes 'turns on' without him thinking about it.
Link is the same Link as the one who died in the downfall timeline and he is aware of it. During the Majora Mask adventure he got the Fierce Deity Mask and after wearing it to deal with Majora he got the memories of that timeline back. He was defeated not long after drawing the Master Sword but wasn't killed for several years, Ganondorf wanted to kill him in front of Zelda and the Sages. Fi and Zelda together sent him back to the moment he drew the sword and Fi managed to get Rauru and Zelda to seal Link away until he was physically older. The process also allowed them to block the memories away so he could fight without that trauma. This is why he acted out so much after that adventure.
Link suspected that Sheik and Zelda were not the same person but won't argue with her about it and is simply content that he knew both. He loved both as good friends and misses them when he is sent back to his childhood.
He learned to read from the Gorons, and how to write from the Gerudo while in the 'adult' timeline. If he is asked he says a little fairy taught him, Navi told him it would be useful and refused to keep going until after he learned. She was right.
Link worked with Zelda to make a new Royal Guard and to train them after he got back to Hyrule. He refused to be Knighted or hold any official position. Eventually he was the one to fight and capture Ganondorf when that finally happened but was badly wounded in the process.
