wait i just remembered i had a dream last night that i was watchinf return of the jedi and there was some brand new scene i’d never seen, then a genndy tartakovsky-ish animated sequence of yoda and i was like Wtf !! This is so good! and then there was a voiceover that went, paraphrased, “yeah but those were just deleted scenes here’s what really happened” and then like. rewound time around me. it was an odd dream but i do think it’s funny that my dreams are often based around the concept that i’m watching them literally as a movie

Very important context: this was not for a new Superman series. This was concept art by Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Primal) for a Superman short or series of shorts to be included among the numerous ‘DC Nation’ mini-cartoons that were running awhile ago, and while this particular concept art is new we first heard about this being a thing that didn’t happen awhile ago. Here’s what we’ve seen before:

So while it’s crushing to know we didn’t get to see such a stylish and distinctive vision of the character in action, this isn’t as if it was a full series reestablishing the character for a new generation that was turned down. No, THAT would be the pitched and discarded Superman Family cartoon by Vinton Heuck and Sean Galloway we learned about last year that was going to take the basic Rebirth status quo and turn it into a vehicle for Silver Age super-adventures that was passed on:

So baffling. Entirely independent of whether you like the guy or not, you’d think it would be in WB’s interests to make sure one of their biggest and most kid-friendly IPs would regularly have an entry-level cartoon, especially when the movies aren’t gonna serve as an entry point for kids right now.

Still Royally Pissed Off About Hotel Transylvania TV Series

I don't how many other HT fans are going to agree with me on this, but the animation looks like OBVIOUS budget cutting (and this is me speaking with experience watching Genndy's animation style from childhood), the cast we all knew and loved is gone and the worst part? You think you saw Frank and Murray in the previews? Think again. It's basically JUST THEM IN A NEW SHIRT AND A BASEBALL CAP, WITH KID VOICES AND NEW NAMES. WTF. BAD CHARACTER DESIGN AT IT'S WORST. I HOPE SONY ONLY ALLOWED RIGHTS FOR A SERIES BECAUSE IF THE MOUSE GETS IT'S GLOVES ON HT3, WE ARE BURIED SIX FEET UNDER FOR SURE AND WITHOUT COFFINS. 😡😠😤

Samurai Who????

Wtf there are actually people writing fanfiction to ship ashixjack “Better”? Instead of the one we saw on the show. Different circumstances to satisfy their needs. I guess they want to try to get into more depth and not be forced and bla blahhh the way they see it, but come on no one can do it like genndy and he only has a few episodes to tell this whole story. He didnt HAVE to bring this show back but he did, the fans were all for it but just one kiss turned some ppl into ungrateful little shits acting like total assholes toward the creator.

No one PROMISED a father/ daughter relationship

No one SAID they were gay either

That was fanart and gaps some fans filled in which weren’t bad ideas, but other than that, not cannon, and since its not, tumblr explodes.

Im grateful for what Genndy has brought us, he totally deserves to finish this story up the way HE wants to. I hope by the next ep ppl will get over it. I have no doubt that Samurai Jack will have a badass satisfying ending to a great show.

JACKS AGE SIDE NOTE:

I feel that the age difference is just another excuse to hate the ship, BUT it totally makes sense why they couldnt have him age in the show. One of the reasons could be so Ashi could have HER story growing up knowing who Jack is and setting up her arc.

That way when they fell in love it wouldnt be so weird, because they both look the same age. With him not aging and her growing up they both ended up having a lot in common.

That time curse has affected Jack but brought them together with them both saving each others lives and falling in love.

im not even into sam jack but i find it so funny ppl are hating on the finale...i did watch it and personally i thought it was ok, but ive watched so many reviews on the finale and how ashi was basically useless, like you could easily rewrite the show to never need her (TheRoundtable did a gr8 vid on this lol)

i personally think the writings been going down ever since Ashi just suddenly had a face-heel turn after seeing a damn ladybug. like, they did what takes better shows half, or even whole seasons, in a couple of episodes, without any consideration (like, once she suddenly became good, how come she didnt mourn her sisters AT ALL? she seems to realize her mom was a piece o shit--which also begs the question of--shouldn’t ashi defeating her mom have been like...a bigger deal? rather than shoehorned in outta nowhere near the end of that episode???)

and then the aku thing...that should have taken more episodes than it ultimately did. y’know. cause the whole show was hyping up to the FINAL BATTLE WITH AKU. genndy wtf???

and how convenient that ashi dies the moment the plot no longer needs her, just to give us ooc Jack manpain. He should have KNOWN that she was gonna cease to exist, is he THAT fucking stupid?? I thought he was a clever boy but i was wrong I guess.

Now this Movie looks like a God-damn Nightmare fuel.
