Why do you always defend China like that? I mean I get the the world tries to do the red scare, but aren't you defending a nation state when you brush off every criticism? Or does the criticism like target things that hamper capitalists and the actual criticisms regarding China lie elsewhere?

There's stuff on my blog this year critiquing: Chinese uselessness on Palestine, involvement in Congo and critiquing workers rights in China through the lens of Foxconn factories trying to replicate their model in India.

I'm getting accused of campism for saying that India's blood and soil fascism is way worse, more dangerous than Chinese high surveillance 'socialism with Chinese characteristics.' India is formenting religious pogroms. The average Chinese citizen is not lynching their neighbours and burning down their homes on suspicion of eating the wrong thing. For Netflix to distort and kowtow to rabid fascists when the United States is strengthening ties with India (for anti China reasons) is really dangerous, given how much influence organisations like the Hindu American Foundation have in US politics. The average Westerner hates China plenty. Liberals do however cluelessly support Indian origin politicians who are funded by the Sangh.

Look man. I'm Indian. India has, since the BJP came to power gotten worse on hunger indexes every year. For countries not at war, we have the highest rate of child hunger in the world: 1 in 5 children are wasting despite the economy growing 6% every year. Journalists are routinely jailed and die in there. Kashmir is still under curfew and internet blackouts. Whatever hysterical story you want to tell about China is reality in India too. Without any kind of economic prosperity.

Why do these lives not matter to you? Why does the fact that Indian govt is passing laws that would enable India to strip muslims of citizenship not seem urgent to you? Is it because you maybe only think that the lives of people only matter in so far as they can be weaponised in some kind of story aligning with american state department?

The idea is to use low-cost, shared platforms to allow corporate fleet operators to order custom-made EVs.So far, that model is largely untested, and analysts have said the best opportunity for a new EV entrant like Foxconn could close in the next few years as established automakers and startups ramp up their own production.MIH plans to start production of the three-seat EV about 18 to 24 months after the prototype is unveiled in October, Cheng said. A six-seat EV is scheduled to follow in 2024 and a nine-seat model in 2025.Based on its timeline, it would take MIH four years or more from its founding to first sales in a best case scenario.But Cheng, who was a co-founder of Chinese EV maker NIO and headed Fiat's joint venture in China before joining Foxconn, said Tesla's success with its large Shanghai plant showed how quickly an EV maker could scale up. "I'm building another Shanghai, probably in India," Cheng said. "If this is a Foxconn plant, fantastic, it's the mother company, we put it into the Foxconn plant. If this is a local India plant and it's even more competitive, give it to the India plant."Foxconn, which only produces a small number of EVs at present, has set an initial target of gaining a 5 per cent share of the global market by 2025. Understanding the boundaries of workplace violence

Workplace violence is the most misunderstood concept vis-à-vis contemporary organizations. This is due to the fact that the term is ambiguous and misleading. Whenever we hear this term, images of looting, rioting, and destruction come to mind. Some instances that we conjure are about the incidents that happened in the Maruti plant in Manesar, India, and the Foxconn facilities in China. Any form of intimidation and harassment that causes injuries and even verbal attacks should come under the purview of workplace violence. It is a common occurrence at the National Health Service hospitals in the United Kingdom to list hundreds of incidents of violent behavior. This primarily comes in from the upset relatives of patients and the patients themselves too. Further, attacks against hospital staff which include on-duty doctors and the paramedical staff are on an increase everywhere. Workplace violence is a huge area that can cover all these occurrences of violent conduct. The way to deal with workplace violence is to train the staff to refuse politely and diffuse the situation. This would prevent the issues from getting out of hand. Moreover, the patients and their relatives can be counseled to adopt a less aggressive approach than the one that they are pursuing. If this training does not give the desired results a failsafe method is to get more security at the workplace. This way unwanted situations can be preempted and prevented. This is happening across the world where security people coupled with bouncers are being deployed in hospitals and nursing homes. This way the doctors on duty and their ancillary staff feel a sense of security and safety. In the world of corporates, strict security measures are being adopted. This includes the presence of trained security staff. These people are present in the reception and lobbies. They ensure that no untoward incident causes problems and they can be tackled and taken care of immediately. However, the policies to deal with a Manesar or a Foxconn type of circumstances are yet to bear fruit. These instances happened because of pre-planning and included the participation of all the workers. These workers ended up ganging on the unfortunate executives and managers. When such instances occurred, the only way out was for the management to call in the security agencies like the police and paramilitary. These instances are similar to riots and there is no other way but to take immediate and drastic measures. These measures are required to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future. Having a strong contingent of police or a security agency on a permanent basis is not feasible. Therefore, there needs to be a detailed labor management strategy in place. This way there is a strong likelihood that these instances would not recur or escalate. Incidents of verbal abuse, harassment, and intimidation also are a form of workplace violence. Here, the presence of security does not help at all. One way is to do a stringent background check and comprehensive due diligence on all people being hired. People who ignite such situations should be fired in the first place. Perpetrators should never be given a second chance. There should be a zero-tolerance policy toward workplace violence. A place of work is a sacred and civilized place. So, it is necessary that disciplinary measures be taken as soon as possible. The major factor behind this decline was the softening of consumer demand due to macroeconomic headwinds, especially in the second half of the year. The shipments fell 19% YoY in the last quarter due to local demand decline, particularly in the entry-tier and mid-tier segments. However, in terms of value, ‘Made in India’ smartphone shipments registered 34% YoY growth, riding on the local trend of increasing premiumization coupled with the increasing exports of premium smartphones, especially from Apple. ‘Made in India’ shipments from Apple grew 65% YoY by volume and 162% YoY by value, taking the brand’s value share to 25% in 2022, up from 12% in 2021. However, the premiumization trend is benefitting some of the manufacturers. Apple’s EMS (electronics manufacturing services) partners Foxconn Hon Hai and Wistron were the fastest growing manufacturers among the top 10 in Q4 2022. The growth was also fuelled by increasing exports from Apple. In terms of overall exports, a volume growth of 37% YoY was witnessed. Further, the contribution of exports in the total ‘Made in India’ smartphone shipments reached the highest ever in 2022 both in volume (20%) and value terms (30%). In Q4 2022, Samsung emerged as the top smartphone manufacturer, ahead of OPPO whose manufacturing shipments declined 31% YoY due to inventory issues in the entry-tier segment. Samsung’s manufacturing shipments declined only 7% YoY due to its stable export volume. Among the EMS players, Foxconn Hon Hai led the manufacturing shipments in Q4 2022, followed by Dixon. Dixon remained the top Indian EMS player in Q4 2022 as well. In the feature phone segment, Lava led the ‘Made in India’ shipments with almost 29% share.” Commenting on the local manufacturing ecosystem and Q4 2022 dynamics, Senior Research Analyst Prachir Singh said, “The contract manufacturing landscape is expanding with multiple EMS players increasing their output. The PLI scheme is one of the major factors driving this trend. Bharat FIH remained the top EMS player for smartphone manufacturing in 2022, followed by Dixon. Bharat FIH has been a key player in developing the overall smartphone manufacturing ecosystem as well as local talent, especially with the women workforce. Dixon, which is also increasing its footprint in smartphone manufacturing, was the leading Indian EMS in 2022. Padget, with the Motorola portfolio, emerged as one of the fastest growing EMS players in 2022, registering 70% YoY growth in terms of manufacturing shipments. Apple’s EMS partners Foxconn Hon Hai, Wistron and Pegatron were among the top 10 EMS players in India in 2022 in terms of volume. In terms of value, Foxconn Hon Hai and Wistron led the EMS landscape. Both of these manufacturers also received the PLI incentive in the recent disbursements. Among OEMs, OPPO led the ‘Made in India’ smartphone shipments in 2022 with a 22% share, followed by Samsung.” Singh added “Overall, 2022 has been a good year in terms of manufacturing and localization in India. The increasing exports from Apple, Samsung and other OEMs drove the locally manufactured shipments in 2022 and somewhat offset the impact of the local demand decline. The recent disbursement of PLI incentives from the government as well as other initiatives, both at the central and state levels, has boosted the overall local manufacturing. We are now seeing multiple companies investing in India and expanding their manufacturing base. Also, the component and semiconductor ecosystem is witnessing investment growth due to the government’s continuous efforts. However, the government should focus on developing the overall ecosystem and play on India’s strengths like high local demand, developing local talent and improving overall infrastructure. We believe that the government will leverage India’s geopolitical strengths and focus on building favourable export and trade policies to make India a preferred destination for electronics manufacturing.” On the overall 2022 performance and Indian government initiatives, Research Director Tarun Pathak said, Going forward, we may see the country reaping the benefits of the PLI scheme thanks to increasing exports from Apple and Samsung.
