Okay I haven’t actually finished the first trilogy but I’m enjoying that Robin Hobb made a main character who’s the bastard son of a beloved prince, gets raised in a castle and secretly trained as a deadly assassin, also does weird psychic magic and has a wolf animal companion who he has a telepathic link with, and yet even with all that going for him, the answer to the question ‘Is Fitz cool’ is an unmitigated ‘no’
he is SO cringe fail and pathetic it’s iconic. Hobb really said “what if my fantasy action hero was kind of a loser?” and didn’t look back
