By now, you probably know that 3D printed cosplay props are made from plastic, which produces quite a bit of waste. So, if you are an environmentally conscious cosplayer, it's only fair to ask what steps Dangerous Ladies is taking as a business to cut down on plastic waste, and what materials we are choosing in order to lessen our impact on the environment.
Here at Dangerous Ladies, we primarily print with Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament. PLA is a thermoplastic polyester that is derived from renewable resources. In our case, eSun PLA+ (our preferred filament) is manufactured with corn starch! This means it is biodegradable and recyclable.
You read that right. PLA is recyclable… but it has a catch!
Take a look at our blog on sustainability and cosplay on our website!

A Solar Filament Erupts
Image Credit: NASA's GSFC, SDO AIA Team
Explanation: What's happened to our Sun? Nothing very unusual -- it just threw a filament. Toward the middle of 2012, a long standing solar filament suddenly erupted into space, producing an energetic coronal mass ejection (CME). The filament had been held up for days by the Sun's ever changing magnetic field and the timing of the eruption was unexpected. Watched closely by the Sun-orbiting Solar Dynamics Observatory, the resulting explosion shot electrons and ions into the Solar System, some of which arrived at Earth three days later and impacted Earth's magnetosphere, causing visible auroras. Loops of plasma surrounding the active region can be seen above the erupting filament in the featured ultraviolet image. Our Sun is nearing the most active time in its 11-year cycle, creating many coronal holes that allow for the ejection of charged particles into space. As before, these charged particles can create auroras.
well, apologies that i haven’t been on. i’ll try to remember to post now. sorry for missing a month. unfortunately, ive missed too many days to post all the ones i missed, so i’ll just skip to this day. (laziness 101.)

Just in time for Christmas - my heart series. I was going for a neon and back lit vibe with these panels. These rubber LED filaments allow me to curve them into any shape for the lighting I want. Both the blue and green heart are mounted slightly raised above the wooden base to achieve the back light effect.
They are inspired by the steampunk aesthetic, a bit of Frankenstein's laboratory and dash of retro neon love. I'm trying to move LED into more adult jewelry designs but I don't want to lose the sense of magic that light creates.
These all have a range of components, many genuine vintage collected over the years. I like combining parts from different eras and a wide range of industries. There are a few standouts on these pieces: the vintage brass heart cage, mesh window on the blue heart and the feature titanium coloured screw on the green heart.

The Best Wood Filament and How to Print Successfully
3D printing wood filament exists for over 10 years. It often consists of 60-80% polymers and 40-20% of recycled wood fiber of different kinds. There are no formal specifications for 3D printing materials and especially for new wood PLA composites. The properties of the end result, together with the whole printing experience, depends largely on what the non-PLA part of the filament is made of. In regards to the wood filament, the higher wood content, the trickier to print in it. In this guide, we will give you a few tips and tricks for how to handle this material successfully and to avoid unpleasant mishaps, like nozzle clogging.
