Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the Mondial entered the market in 1980. Available as either a 2+2 coupé or a cabriolet, it replaced the four-seater Ferrari 308GT4 enabling the Italian firm to continue to market the two-seater 308GTB/GTS, the car that donated its chassis and drivetrain to the Mondial.Carrozzeria Scaglietti supplied and built the bodywork, a combination of steel and aluminium panels that are fixed to a space-frame chassis. The result is a car that’s as light and stiff as it is beautiful and one that handles exceptionally well.Front and rear subframes hold the major mechanical assemblies and while the 3.0-litre V8 engine might be able to trace its roots straight back to the V6 Dino engine of 1968, it still produces 214bhp and 179lb/ft of torque, enough for a 0-60mph time of around eight seconds.The Mondial is one of the last Ferraris to benefit from the reduced maintenance costs that are the byproduct of what is analogue, old school engineering, making it popular with knowledgeable enthusiasts who prefer to do their own servicing.

The #Mondial gets the least respect of any #Ferrari but it was also one of Ferrari’s best sellers - a major success with customers even if it has sometimes been looked down on by, well, snobs. It was also a unique vehicle - four-seat mid-engined supercars are rare, but the Mondial was the only one to be offered as a onvertible. Almost 7,000 were made over the car’s nearly 14-year life - small numbers today but real volume then. - The cool reception the car gets in some quarters may be due to the circumstances into which it was launched. As a follow-up to the 308 GT4, it retained that car’s four-seat configuration necessitating a long wheelbase (4 inches longer for more room) and taller greenhouse, hard to clothe in the same proportions as the 308, a car which it was constantly being compared to. But both cars were styled by Leonardo Fioravanti. - The Mondial was also 400+ lbs. heavier than the 308 - and in 1980, performance was at low ebb. The 1981 U.S.-spec Mondial 8 was slower than the #GT4 it replaced and the concurrent 308 - not a good first impression - but it handled very well and it was practical, if appreciably more expensive than the 308. Nobody buys a Ferrari to be practical, but some of the same folks who decried the 2+2 Ferrari also praised the 2+2 Porsche 911’s pragmatism. Haters gonna hate. At the time, too, many U.S. Ferrari fans wanted the 512BB, a car that was not sold by Ferrari in the U.S. The Mondial was not much consolation. - The Mondial’s performance improved quickly. 1983 brought the QV which brought the 4V engine and the Cabriolet, and 1986 brought the Mondial 3.2, which brought more power and a styling refresh. Fastest of all was the Mondial t in 1989, which also had major engineering changes. The engine was now mounted longitudinally and lower in the chassis - big changes for a car in year 8 of it’s cycle, but this was made possibly by the drivetrain engineered for the 348. The T in 348TB/TS and Mondial t stood for “Transversale.” The cars shared many components. - The t was the first Mondial where cabrio sales outpaced Coupes, but the end was near - production ended in 1993 and Ferrari hasn’t built an mid-engined four-seater since. In this Article, I offer a nostalgic look at the sports car highlights covering the memorable period of the 1940's to the 1980's, which featured the introduction and development of many classic cars, some of which are household names.
The 1940's
By the end of WW2, many European car manufacturers looked to the US as a means of generating sales since the home markets had, in many cases, been almost wiped out.
Furthermore, affluent post-war Americans were developing a taste for the sports car which they had acquired whilst in Europe during the war.
Leading the European charge into the US market, in the late 1940's, were the following:

The 1950's
During the 1950's, the economy in the US was growing rapidly, which generated additional demand for sports car ownership.
By now, a multitude of British and European models were being showcased for both home and export markets. Important amongst these were the following:
Austin Healey 100-6, Triumph TR2, MGA, Lotus Elite, Porsche 356
Other manufacturers, who were very active in the 50's, included such memorable names as:
Alfa Romeo, Bristol, Maserati and Morgan
In the latter part of the 1950's, the import of European sports cars into the US was now widely accepted, and they now represented a permanent feature of the US auto scene.

In the 1960's, one of the features of the market for classic cars in the US was that of specialist models, which incorporated a number of features copied from their European rivals.
Typical examples included the Ford Mustang and Corvette Stingray.
Some of the most memorable models produced in the 60's included the following:

The 1970's
The oil crisis of the 1970's created a shift away from "gas-guzzling" cars to the more fuel-efficient.

Forza Motorsports 7 “Garage” Opens
Forza Motorsports 7 was announced during the Microsoft media event at E3 2017. The biggest announcement they had at the time was that the game would include Porsche cars for the first time in franchise history. Today, Microsoft announced the opening of “The Garage.” This is the marketing mechanism for the developers to slowly announce all of the 700 cars that will be in the game at launch. Forza Motorsport 7: Turn 10 gibt die ersten Autos bekannt
167 von über 700 sind bekannt
Turn10 wird im Oktober die siebte Auflage der beliebten Rennspielreihe Forza Motosport heraus bringen. Jetzt gibt es erste Infos zum Fahrzeugpool, der aus über 700 Autos bestehen soll.
Microsoft und die Turn10 Studios gaben nun eine Liste mit 167 Fahrzeugen bekannt die in Forza Motosport 7 enthalten sein werden. Dies ist der Anfang einer Liste, die stätig erweitert wird. Denn im finalen Spiel sollen am Ende sage und schreibe über 700 Autos zu finden sein, das wäre für die Forza Motorsport Reihe ein Rekord, so viel Fahrzeuge gab es bisher noch nie.
Die Marke mit den meisten Autos in der aktuellen Liste ist Ferrari mit 46 Fahrzeugen, vom 1948 Ferrari 166MM Barchetta bis hin zum 2015 Ferrari F12tdf sind also jede Menge Autos von der Marke mit dem schwarzen Pferd vertreten. Es folgt Porsche mit 29 Autos, wo selbstverständlich der 918 Spyder, sowie auch der 911 GT2 nicht fehlen dürfen. Auch Lamborghini und Aston Martin sind mit jeder Menge an ihren Autos am Start.
