Genuinely impressed by how realistic Barbie and Her Sisters in a Pony Tale (God that's an unnecessarily long title) is when it comes to horse etiquette, especially when it comes to Stacie

I rode for a good couple of years, so this is probably the first hobby~ movie I've seen from Barbie so far where I actually like,,, know a thing or two about the main subject (pretty much all of the others before it are ballet ones I think, and I never got very far when it came to my dancing lessons lol)

It's really cool watching Stacie fumble her mounting, brushing, and riding (mostly due to poor communication with her horse) and being able to actually SEE what she's doing wrong rather than just being told by the story she is, like! Sure, it's all pretty basic stuff, but it's also clear because of it that the people working on this movie were passionate enough about it to learn how to portray all of that in such a clear way, and that makes it really fun to watch!

Stacie getting up on her horse again after a bad, scary fall is a relatively minor plot-point, but it's still one I personally appreciated a lot- falling from a beast that can crush you in a second is REALLY scary, and getting back up again isn't to be taken for granted! She's shown to be really scared and a bit traumatized by the jump that she fell during, and I like that! It's more than understandable, and I admire her for giving it another shot and learning how to make it work together with her horse! It can be very easy to start to resent your horse after something like that, and she definitely starts off down that route where fear is about to get the better of her, so I'm genuinely happy for her that Barbie helped her past that hurdle. Your first big fall is the scariest and it can very easily cause people to quit altogether, but it's definitely a fear that can be conquered and overcome! I had a real big fall pretty early after I started riding, and it's to date probably one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had in my life, but I had the instructors and other kids there with me in the aftermath, so I got back on and kept riding for years after that! And I still for sure fell again after that, and eventually I did stop riding because for some reason I became scared over time, which honestly, is probably had a lot to do with the fact that I didn't have my own horse and had to switch horses a lot, and it's exhausting when you're constantly having to learn how to handle a new horse... And also that one horse I was paired with for A WHILE that was honestly probably way too small for me because I kept falling forward on her mane (which was highly unpleasant for both of us). Like, fr, horseriding truly is a rich person sport lol, it's so much easier when you just have your own horse that you can form a proper connection with!!! Anywayyy

I love that you can really feel both the stable camaraderie AND the underlying animosity born out of jealousy that, in my experience, at least, was a staple of my horseriding days, like! Everyone is there to have a good time with horses, but at the same time there's a lot of envy towards "the good riders", the ones who participate in all the competitions and are treated a bit like celebrities (and sometimes act like ones because of it), like!! Yeah this Barbie movie 100% nailed the vibe it was going for!! Financial troubles? Horses running away? Those are the sort of things that make everyone band together because ultimately, most everyone just wants these horses to be as safe and comfortable as possible!

I was also really scared they were going to make Etienne the villain so I'm glad he wasn't, even though his fat, scheming, ALSO french brother being the villain is not a much better look, but like... Good for Etienne, I like him, he seems like a good coach who has to deal with a lot of shit and takes it all with grace because he loves his job! I was really happy with the way they showed that Philippe was the outlier in terms of poor sportsmanship and desire to just profit off of horses, and that even his coworkers and family disapprove of his behavior. Like! You can win all the races, but that won't matter to anyone if you're also a nasty person to be around... Those kinds of people are very much still present in the horseriding circuits, but they suck and that kind of behavior is really not acceptable

This movie just?? Really brought me back to those days in the best way possible, it's so much fun and genuinely a good film, and like! For something with that kind of name I was expecting it to be either really boring or really lame (Perfect Christmas is the perfect example, god that one sucked), so it was a really nice treat for it to be especially good! All the sisters got their own neat plots that worked well too, I feel like I was about equally invested in all of them which was great! God, please let the other Barbie&co films be just as good!!

Liverpool are through to a third Champions League final in five seasons after an incredible 5-2 aggregate semi-final win over Villarreal.

Liverpool survived a scare against Villarreal to move into the Champions

Liverpool survived a scare against Villarreal to move into the Champions League final - and keep their hopes of winning an unprecedented quadruple alive.

The Reds had comfortably won 2-0 in the first leg but that advantage was wiped out after only 41 minutes at a noisy and passionate El Madrigal as the Spanish side pushed for a huge upset.

Boulaye Dia scored Villarreal's first after only three minutes, converting Etienne Capoue's pass, before ex-Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin headed in a second from another Capoue cross as the Reds looked rattled.

Liverpool had to improve in the second half and Fabinho put them back in front on aggregate with a shot that went through the legs of Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli in the 62nd minute.

Luis Diaz, whose introduction at half time changed the game after he replaced Diogo Jota, restored Liverpool's two-goal aggregate advantage with a header at the back post.

Sadio Mane secured Liverpool's place in their third Champions League final in five seasons with a third goal after taking the ball around Rulli. Villarreal ended the game with 10 men with Capoue sent off late on for two bookable offences.

The Reds will play either Manchester City or Real Madrid at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, 28 May.

No English side has ever won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup all in the same season, with Liverpool aiming to create history.

Liverpool suffer, but get the job done

Villarreal's performance in their 2-0 loss at Anfield led one English radio pundit to call the Spanish side a "disgrace" and "pathetic", despite an incredible run that had seen them eliminate former winners Juventus and Bayern Munich in the previous two rounds.

However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp knew the tie was not over and warned his side they "would have to be prepared to suffer" in the second leg.

And suffer they did in arguably Liverpool's worst half of football this season, with passes misplaced, errors made and the side looking uncharacteristically vulnerable.

They made the worst possible start, conceding after only three minutes.

Pervis Estupinan, who scored an own goal at Anfield, provided a cross which was pulled back by Capoue and Dia, inside the six-yard box, reacted quickest to convert from close range.

Dani Parejo shot just wide and Gerard Moreno had an effort blocked before Villarreal, seventh in La Liga and managed by ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery, made it 2-2 on aggregate thanks to Coquelin's fine header.

Liverpool had to improve in the second half, and Trent Alexander-Arnold's shot hit the crossbar after taking a huge deflection off Coquelin.

But the breakthrough came with Fabinho's strike and that led to a capitulation from Villarreal, who conceded three times in a 12-minute spell. Diaz headed in Alexander-Arnold's cross to give the visitors some breathing space before a rash decision from Rulli saw him sprint off the line with Mane getting there first and finishing into an unguarded goal.

This is the 10th time Liverpool have reached the final of the European Cup or Champions League as they aim to become European champions for a seventh time after successes in 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005 and 2019.

Liverpool's progress keeps them on course to become the first English side to complete the quadruple.

They already have the Carabao Cup in the trophy cabinet after beating Chelsea on penalties in February and Thomas Tuchel's side are again the opposition at Wembley for the FA Cup final on 14 May.

This victory means Liverpool have become the first English club to reach the final of the European Cup/Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup in the same season.

Liverpool are also only one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race and could meet in the Champions League final later this month.

Pep Guardiola's side hold the advantage in the second semi-final after an incredible first leg at Etihad Stadium saw them beat Real 4-3 in one of the best games in the tournament's history.

The second leg takes place at Real's Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday and if the Spanish champions, managed by ex-Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, can turn the one-goal deficit around it would set up a repeat of the 2018 final.

Real won 3-1 on that occasion as Gareth Bale scored twice, including an incredible overhead kick, but the game will largely be remembered for two goalkeeping errors from Liverpool's Loris Karius.

Patrice had been given instruction, and he could not deny it. So, he sought to intervene. Besides, it would be impolite not to say hello. He still retained some manners from his childhood.

“I must say, you seem to have flourished since we’ve seen one another,” Patrice greeted as he approached the bar. It’d been nearly twenty years, he reminded himself. “I cannot help but wonder what someone of such fine fruited craft is doing at an establishment that seems to specialize in ale.”

Every week, we post a snippet from everyone’s blogs that we felt was jaw-droppingly fantastic, as both a thanks to you for being here and putting your character on the dashboard, and so other members can appreciate your artistry as well. Thank you so much for letting us get to enjoy your work!

AGRIPPINE: This fleeting respite from the world lulls and soothes them. So much so that Agrippine does not tense at a stranger’s nearness, dark eyes transparent like glass, open like the sky above them. She’s approached Agrippine in the eye of their storm, where memories do not matter and only the simple routine of tending to horses does.

BEAU: Seeing them for the first time, Beau’s own heart betrayed itself. It started again after eventually adjusting to the heavy weight of it. After so many nights unable to sleep without seeing their face, without hearing the echo of their family crying at the loss of another child; grief had become synonymous with her name, no matter how hard Beau tried to stay distant.

CECILE: Yet Cecile knows her limits well - watching drink take it’s hold on her late father had been more than enough to instill her with a sense of caution around the stuff - and even when she was searching for him everywhere, never did a stranger’s face nag at her so perniciously. Cecile would have half a mind to find the host and politely say her premature goodbyes - Odeline knows she has no shortage of invitations this week - if she wasn’t utterly certain that the feeling would only remain, like a scab begging to be picked, if it she left it unaddressed.

CYRIL: At that moment, the offer she makes is solely what she wishes she had already done — if she had already enchanted the Chevalier’s jacket, then maybe she wouldn’t not be so painfully unaware of what she is wearing over her white gown. She’s still trying to distance herself from the fact that the jacket she wears, so kindly offered to her, had splatters of someone’s blood. Or maybe more than one someone’s blood.

DEGARE: He’s grown rather attached to his curious turns of phrase, his strange idioms, furnished with antecedents he fails to place. He’s heard them so many times over by now, he sometimes even knows what the fellow is talking about. But then—ah, sometimes not. Savatier sticks out to him, all conspicuous, like an anachronism which betrays itself. Beneath every skin, there is another skin. He’s an eye for such things.

ETIENNE: Whether or not that was her intention in that moment mattered little, for Etienne had committed the route to crawling under Rosalind's skin to memory. "It's giving pouting puppy dog at best. Although, you know I'm always here for pointers on your overall intimidation factor.”

GISELE: To Gisele, that was the crux of everything wrong with this city: The flagrant dismissal of nobility’s purpose. They were meant to be born and raised with nothing but rulership in mind, molded into perfect arbiters for their respective lands. As soon as one began to cast aside their responsibilities, or, worse, assign them to the unready, the undeserving, there would be no point to anything.

HELENE: Her intuition has served her well, rising through the court and fiercely defending her position from the vultures who had sought to take it, and her suspicion has foiled plots far and wide, diverting their intended sacrifice that sat atop the crown. Sacrifice was in the cards for her, for all of those who had sought to serve crown and country, and she had offered too much to be taken from her for all of this to be for naught.

ISEULT: The chevalier with his guard down, and a denizen of the quarter taking to his shadow with ill intent. Iseult, the ever observant, knowing pursuit when he saw it— seeing that one for its lethal intent. The assassin saving the chevalier’s life by taking another— forging a connection in the crook of an elbow, in the fatal wrench of a neck. The observant freelancer calls it saving a life; the astute one calls it an investment.

LIANE: There are times when Liane believes she is more wolf than woman, all bloodied jowls and gnashing teeth, but she has done her best to devour it, to stitch her fingers into the green of the earth and bury it beneath the richness of the soil, but there are some things that are impossible to rid yourself of.

MATTHIEU:  Inevitable like folding wings, the bastard snapped an insolent remark. Fops, mimicry, snake shedding and sloughing the skins of their betters; they’ve waded through it already. He didn’t particularly care to raise his cuffs again. He remembers rolling his eyes, rolling the matter under. But the alternative, violent and familiar, gathered on the promontory; the waters were rising, deep and sluggish in the chambers of his mind.

PATRICE: He’d almost given himself away in that moment, shock and appall taking over his being. Surely this could not be the same girl he watched grow, the same who wove flower stems and sang cheerful folk songs in the gardens behind his childhood home. But he’d asked around in the day he’d been in Val Faim, and there was no hiding the truth of the wretchedness that had squandered the child he once knew.

ROSALIND: Her hand curves around his wrist and yanks it back toward her. The demand: don’t walk away from me, look at me, answer for your betrayal and do not think you can escape me this time. The defiant boast to Odeline or whatever gods Rosalind isn’t sure exist at all: I won’t be forgotten again.

SAINTE: Although, in a way, really, so many places feel sacred to Sainte. Not the way the tomb is, but it isn’t the only place she prays. She prays in her little room above the Lion’s Mane, in the Empressian Gardens where she meets Michel. In the palace ballroom, silently, for a man lies dead on the floor. Everywhere is sacred, really, if prayer is what makes it that way.

SAVATIER: It’s not that he doesn’t think her unworthy of worship; more that blind adulation is the least she deserves. She should be known beyond her sacrifice, beyond her tragedy, her posthumous triumph. How very like Jaster, to deify and discard the rest.

SIDONIE: You win, Liane says, and the admission feels more like a trap. Sidonie’s breath catches again, helplessly, as it the spymaster’s words seem to curl around her throat with the intent to squeeze. “What?” she says, having finally found her voice in spite of the way her lower jaw just barely trembles under Liane’s touch. Sidonie detests the ways in which her body so easily betrays itself, but she continues, “I stopped begging for you long ago.”

VIOLAINE: “I've been to plenty of commoner households, for you information. And you aren't exactly what I would delineate a textbook commoner, monsieur chevalier,” Violaine coos, drawing out his title melodramatically. “Gauging the reach of someone’s power is easy— just see how quickly information spreads about them throughout the nobility. Real or not real.”

YVON: If there was a way to describe this difference, Yvon did not know it because Yvon simply did not think of it. The exactitude of muscle memory is a strange and wonderful thing. Often it exceeds even what a mind can hold. 

ZHENYA: Seven days had trailed by in a chain of ruinous, revelrous events, and as could be expected of any occasion marking a grand ruler’s legacy, blood had at one point threaded itself into the links -- like rot as it made its inevitable slither through ancient roots. A cancerous spread that could only ever halt at the severing of its foundation. As such, Zhenya anticipated that the brutish bloodletting would go on to pave the way for the remainder of Queen Calandre’s celebration, quelled by nothing other than the decisive end of its path. Indeed, nothing glorious was ever unsullied.

college of winterhold:  what a bunch of nerds, he says, as he, a nerd, spends time at the college.  the location could be better, he’s never going to completely acclimate to the cold entirely, and winterhold is flat out miserable, but their library is adequate and urag gro-shub is probably his favorite person in the grounds.  sorry, etienne.  their magic, as a study, is something he’s not particularly overly interested in, considering his time and place originally in the world (it all seems very much like baby’s first destruction spell to him), and he really has no interest in becoming a full member.  also there’s that whole thing where they keep losing students, that doesn’t seem...very responsible.  would have completely flipped his shit if he’d known about what arniel gane was up to, slapped his hands, and taken keening  and sunder away from him.  he was against it when kagrenac was thinking about doing it, and he is for sure against some duuma-obsessed breton giving it a go.

companions:  more muscle than brains, for the most part (not you, sven, sweetie, you’re doing amazing).  he doesn’t think they’re really any better than any other group of mercenaries for hire, and that they could be doing more and doing better if they’d maybe turn the arrogance about descending from a bunch of colonialist jackasses (because hi yes what is the tension between dwemer and nords for 500) from 11.  there’s something offputting about the few he’s bumped into in whiterun, and honestly for all everyone talks about eorlund grey-mane, tnathas is super not impressed with either his forge or his smithing but...well.  dwemer.  he tends to overall give them a wide berth, mostly because dealing with them seems like herding cats and he’s got shit to do.

thieves guild:  honestly, he’s not super worried about whatever problems they’ve been having, or maevyn black-briar, or any in-squabbling, or whatever.  he’s here because sometimes their ends serve his own ends when it comes to removing dangerous dwemer technology from hands too dumb to know what they have (or too dangerous that might).  is definitely not particularly loyal, and would definitely never become a nightingale, even if it were a possibility of being offered, because he doesn’t believe in seeing the daedra as anything special or deserving of that kind of loyalty or worship. would probably abandon it entirely if certain people asked him to, to be honest.

dark brotherhood:  do they want themselves original or extra crispy.  thinking of the brotherhood as being repugnant isn’t even really a question, tbh.  there are no warm fuzzy feelings or curiosity here.  and if they come for him, they’re going to regret it (he’ll probably end up with a contract on him, let’s be real here).

bards college:  not interested in being a bard and the college of winterhold is more the speed of what kind of information he tends to dig for.  and bards are ubiquitous with inns and he, as a general rule of thumb, doesn’t spend a lot of time in inns.

imperials and stormcloaks:  your war is dumb and you’re dumb and he has no interest in aiding the powers on either side.  instead, in true avengers fashion, he’s more interested in the people getting caught in the middle.  both sides really are bad in this case and he doesn’t consider himself loyal to skyrim or the empire in any way, as far as a governing body/group goes.

dawnguard:  isran is very intense.  (in another life, in another universe, he’d recognize the blade inspiration.)  but he believes in the cause of protecting against the growing vampire threat and has lent his smithing, engineering, and armoring skills to the cause, as well as joining the fight itself.  he’s unaware of gelebor and the forgotten vale, and it’s probably best if it’s left that way.

volkihar clan:  he’s a member of the dawnguard, gee.  wonder what he thinks of the vampires trying to put out the sun.

Lair Review for Santana

You have so many beautiful dergs, it’s a joy to go through your lair but a pain to choose only five.

Hestia: I don’t know why but I rarely see truly pink dragons. Maybe I’m not looking at the right corners of flight rising, who knows. Hestia is gorgeous. Lavender is a coolish color, but the accent color in the pink butterfly catch that so the colors work well together. I really like the golden/warm accents in the apparel. The unicorn mane is a stunning addition to her outfit. It makes her look like the sky at early dawn! I love all the art in her bio!

Leo: I am predictable. Blue with yellow/gold highlights? I’m in. Leo is beautiful. Tbh I didn’t even realize that her primary color is maroon. Maroon Star/Con is one of the best color/gene combinations imo. The cool reds with the blue hues? Yasss! The skincent is stunning. I can’t and don’want to stop looking at her. And I would totally steal her if I had the chance! No I wouldn’t yes maybe no haha. Also: Nice familiar matching! :D

Onomnom: Goopy boi! I am not usually a big fan of fans on goalers, but he looks like an eldritch being and fans is perfect for him. I can’t say why, but he also looks like a big gummy bear to me. I’m sure he smells like raspberries. Or like something unspeakable, depending on which perspective you follow xD He sure is a shadow derg, making the shadowbinder proud!

Lumen: Baby boy, baby! So pretty!  Lemon is not easy to work with but oh it looks so good on him! The combination of yellow and violet is stunning here, and oh wow I was not prepared for how good smoke looks on obelisk hatchlings! I really like that he, as the embodiment of light, has dark colors too. Light can’t shine without darkness. And the violet really makes his yellow glow! He likes to play tricks. Hehe, a trick of the light. Nice one!

Etienne: He looks so creepy. I love it! The combination of abyss fade/blend and raspberry glimmer is delicious. The skin is amazing and the apparel is well chosen! I have difficulties using the feathery fallout and the vines (recolor in my case) but you put both of them together on one derg and made it work! He looks like the product of a magical fallout. Something you would find near the epicenter of where the arcanist messed up one of his experiments maybe. Arcane Apocalypse? Anyways, I dig this aesthetic!
