The False Messiah / The Anti-Christ / The Masīh Ad-Dajjāl
Bukhāri and Muslim reported from Anas that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “There was not a prophet sent by Allah except that he warned his people from the Al-A’war Ad-Dajjāl, the One-eyed Liar. Indeed, he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. There will be written between his eyes, the word kāfir.”
[Bukhāri 7131, Muslim 2933]
Muslim and Abu Dawood report from An-Nawwās Ibn Sam’ān (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “It is other than the Dajjāl that I fear for you. If he comes forth while I am among you, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth when I am not among you, each person must contend with him on his own behalf, and Allah will take care in looking after every Muslim even after I have gone. Those of you who live up to his time should recite before him the opening verses of Surat al–Kahf, for they are your protection from his trial.” We asked, “How long will he remain on the earth?” He replied, “Forty days, one like a year, one like a month, one like a week, and the rest of his days will be like your days.” We asked, “O Messenger of Allah, will one day’s prayer suffice us on this day which will be like a year?” He replied, “No, you must make an estimate of its extent. Then Jesus son of Marry will descend at the white minaret to the east of Damascus. He will then catch him up at the gate of Ludd and kill him.” [Abu Dawood 4321] So this is the ‘Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah as reported in the ahādeeth.
Before the appearance of the Dajjāl, there will be a time of severe hardship and tribulation. Abu Umāmah (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Before the Dajjāl appears there will be three difficult years in which the people will suffer severe famine. In the first year, Allah will command the sky to withhold one-third of its rain and the earth to withhold one-third of its produce. In the second year, He will command the sky to withhold two-thirds of its rain and the earth to withhold two-thirds of its produce. In the third year, He will command the sky to withhold all of its rain, and not a single drop will fall, and the earth to withhold all of its produce, and nothing will grow. All cloven-hoofed animals will die, except those that Allah wills.” It was said: “What will the people live on at that time?” He said, “Tahleel (lā ilāha illallāh), Takbeer (Allāhu akbar), Tasbeeh (subhānallāh) and Tahmeed (alhamdulillāh). That will take the place of food for them.” [ibn Mājah 4077, Authenticated by Al-Albāni in Saheeh Al-Jāmi’ 7875] In a wording, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Before the appearance of the Dajjāl, there will be three very hard years wherein the people will be struck with severe hunger.”
Then he will appear after this. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) stated, “There will not be any tribulation on earth, since the time Allah created the offspring of Ādam, that will be greater than the tribulation of the Dajjāl. Allah has not sent any Prophet but he warned his nation about the Dajjāl. I am the Last of the Prophets and you are the last of the nations. He will undoubtedly appear among you.” [Ibn Mājah]
The Messenger (ﷺ) explained in detail his appearance, where he will come from and the deception he will use to entrap the people. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He will emerge from Al-Khallah, between Syria and Iraq, and will wreak havoc right and left. O slaves of Allah, remain steadfast. I will describe him to you in a manner in which none of the Prophets has described him before me. He will start by saying, ‘I am a Prophet,’ and there is no Prophet after me. Then a second time he will say, ‘I am your Lord.’ But you will not see your Lord until you die. He is one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed, and written between his eyes is the word Kāfir (كفر). Every believer will be able to read it, whether literate or illiterate. Part of his fitnah will be that he will have with him Paradise and Hell, but his Hell will be a Paradise and his Paradise a Hell. Whoever is tested with his fire, let him seek the help of Allah and recite the first verses of Surah Al-Kahf, then the fire will be cool and safe for him, as the fire was for Ibrāheem. Part of his fitnah will be that he will say to a bedouin, ‘What do you think, if I resurrect your father and mother for you, will you bear witness that I am your Lord?’ The bedouin will say, ‘Yes.’ Then two devils will appear to him in the form of his father and mother and they will say, ‘O my son, follow him, for he is your Lord.’ Part of his fitnah will be that he will overpower a single soul, a youth and kill him. Then he will cut him with a saw until he falls into two pieces. Then he will say, ‘Look at this slave of mine. I will now resurrect him. Then he will claim that he has a Lord other than me.’ Then Allah will resurrect that soul and the Dajjāl will say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ So, the youth will say, ‘Allah is my Lord, and you are the enemy of Allah, you are the Dajjāl. By Allah, I have never had a more sure insight about you than I have today.’”[Ibn Mājah]
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) continued, “Part of his fitnah will be that he will command the sky to rain, and it will rain, and he will command the earth to bring forth vegetation and it will do so. Part of his fitnah will be that he will pass by a clan and they will disbelieve in him, so all their cattle will perish and none will be left. Part of his fitnah will be that he will pass by a clan who will believe in him, so he will command the sky to rain and it will rain. He will command the earth to bring forth vegetation and it will do so, until their cattle will come back in the evening of that day, bigger and fatter than they have ever been, with their flanks stretched and their udders full of milk. There will be no part of the earth left that he does not enter and prevail over, except for Makkah and Al-Madinah, for he will not approach them on any of their mountain paths except that he will be met by angels with unsheathed swords until he will stop at the red hill at the end of the marsh. Then Al-Madinah will be shaken with its people three times, no hypocrite, male or female, will remain therein, all will come out to him. Thus, it will be cleansed of impurity just as the bellow cleanses the impurity of iron. And that day will be called the Day of Deliverance (Yawmul-Khalās).” [Ibn Mājah]

DAILY DUA
Dua seeking protection from the Dajjal
سُورَةُ الْكَهْفِ - بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ ٱلْكِـتَـٰبَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عِوَجَا (١) قَيِّمًا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِّن لَّدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا (٢) مَّـٰكِـثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا (٣) وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللهُ وَلَدًا (٤) مَّا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَا لِأَبَآئِهِمْ كَـبُرَتْ كَلِمَةً تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًا (٥)
فَلَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا (٦) إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا (٧) وَإِنَّا لَجَـٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا (٨) أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْكَـهْفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُواْ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا عَجَبًا (٩) إِذْ أَوَى ٱلْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى ٱلْكَـهْفِ فَقَالُواْ رَبَّـنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا (١٠)
Translation
Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from Dajjal.
Surah Al-Kahf In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All the praises and thanks are to Allâh, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Qur'ân), and has not placed therein any crookedness. (1) (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allâh Islâmic Monotheism), who do righteous - deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). (2) They shall abide therein forever. (3) And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allâh has begotten a son (or offspring or children)." (4) No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths (i.e. He begot sons and daughters). They utter nothing but a lie. (5)
Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Qur'ân). (6) Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e.those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allâh's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet SAW ]. (7) And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees). (8) Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? (9)(Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, They said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" (10)
One should also seek refuge with Allah from the tribulations of the Dajjal after the last tashahhud in prayer. (Refer to duas #199 & #200)
Note: Among the great signs of the last hour and the greatest trials to befall mankind, which every Prophet has warned about, is the appearance of the Dajjal (Antichrist).
Most of mankind will follow him. He will appear from Asbahan, Iran at the time when Muslims will conquer Constantinople.
He will be given special powers and will make the truth seem false and vice versa. He will claim to be righteous and then he will claim prophet-hood and finally, divinity.
From his features is that he will be blind in his right eye which is a definite proof that contradicts his claim to be Allah as it is a sign of imperfection. The word Kafir will be written between his eyes which every believer, literate or illiterate will recognize.
Transliteration
bismillaahir-raḥmaanir-raḥeem
(1) al-ḥamdu lillaahil-ladhee anzala ‛alaa ‛abdihil-kitaaba wa lam yaj‛al lahu ‛iwajaa
(2) qayyiman li yundhira ba’san shadeedan min ladunhu wa yubash-shiral-mu’mineen-alladheena ya‛maloon-aṣ-ṣaaliḥaati anna lahum ajran ḥasanaa
(3) maakitheena feehi abadaa
(4) wa yundhir-alladheena qaalut-takhadh-allaahu waladaa
(5) maa lahum bihi min ‛ilmin wa laa li aabaa’ihim, kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwaaٰhihim, in yaqooloona illaa kadhiban
(6) fa la‛allaka baakhi‛un nafsaka ‛alaaٰ aathaarihim in lam yu’minoo bi haadhal-ḥadeethi asafaa
(7) innaa ja‛alnaa maa ‛alal-arḍi zeenatan lahaa li nabluwahum ayyuhum aḥsanu ‛amalaa
(8) wa innaa la jaa‛iloona maa ‛alayhaa ṣa‛eedan juruzaa
(9) am ḥasibta anna aṣḥaabal-kahfi war-raqeemi kaanoo min aayaatinaa ‛ajabaa
(10) idh awal-fityatu ilaal-kahfi faqaaloo rabbanaa aatinaa min ladunka raḥmatan wa hayyi’ lanaa min amrinaa rashadaa

Bucky and reader playing hide and seeking? Teasing each other? (Just gimme some fluff)
Warnings: So much fluff, so much fluff.
It started with two words. Two harmless little insignificant words. Two very stupid and ill thought out words that you should have never uttered.
“Sam’s right.” You shrugged, dipping your spoon into Steve’s bowl of ice cream because yours was sadly finished.
“See Barnes? Even your girl agrees with me.” Sam said smugly.
That was when you realized what you’d said and nearly choked on your spoonful of pilfered ice cream in your haste to rectify your idiotic blunder.
“But Bucky makes a really strong case, with some excellently argued… points?” You trailed off at the end of your sentence because you couldsee it was futile.
Bucky was alternating between throwing hostile glares at Sam and wounded looks of betrayal at you while Sam just sat there with his chest puffed out and a smug look on his face.
“I don’t know doll, it sounded like you’re clearly on Sam’s side. For the record, I agree with Bucky though.” Steve said innocently, doing a fairly good impression of someone who wasn’t a little shit.
“What was that Wanda?” You called loudly, looking over your shoulder into the hallway before you scarpered as fast as you could to freedom.
It didn’t really matter that Wanda had clearly not called for you or that the three soldiers knew it. What did matter was that for the rest of the day, nobody could find you. Friday couldn’t seem to tell anyone where you were, your phone was miraculously untraceable, and no amount of suspiciously delicious smells wafting from the kitchen managed to entice you into the open. Buckyspent eight angry hours searching high and low for you, to no avail. And he knew you hadn’t actually left the compound, because every pair of your shoes were accounted for and there was a blanket missing from your bed. He knew you’d nested down somewhere to wait out the storm, what he couldn’t figure out, was where. And you were refusing to respond to any of his messages.
He had moved on from being annoyed, he was frustrated that he couldn’t find you.
He threw himself onto your bed and closed his eyes, hopingyou would take the bait. A few minutes later he heard the door open and close,followed by the light patter of your footsteps.
“Aww, you miss me?” You cooed at him, jumping onto the bed.
“Damn right I missed you. When did you get so good at hide and seek?” He grumbled, shifting so he could rest his head on your stomach and wrap his arm around your waist, trapping you.
“When I asked the Team of Earth’s Mightiest for help.” You snorted.
“You had help?” He snapped, looking up at you.
“I’m not a liberty to say.” You told him, zipping your lips shut.
“Of course you had help. There’s no way you could have hidden from me on your own.” He scoffed.
“Is that a challenge?” You gasped, gently running your fingers through his hair.
“Do you want it to be?” He asked, trying not to melt under your touch.
“Yes, yes I do.” You announced, your nails lightly scratching over his scalp.
He made a low noise of contentment in the back of his throat, a noise he would never admit to making.
“Tomorrow.” He decided.
He didn’t want to settle it right now, he hadn’t been lying when he said he missed you, he just wanted to hold you and be held right now. The warmth of your body, the softness of your skin, the quiet sounds of your breathing, that was all he wanted right now.
“Fine. Sam was right though you know. Chandler is a much better character than Ross.” You muttered.
“That’s it. Hide.” He ordered, standing up and glaring down at you.
“Really?” You snorted.
“10… 9… 8… 7…6…5…”
You jumped up and shot towards the door, leaving a trail of laughter in your wake.
“4321… Ready or not doll, here I come!”

“Hey, you want to make the mission today a little more interesting?” Steve asked. Bucky cocked an eyebrow.
“More interesting than hunting genetically modified super monsters?” he replied. “Sure, why not? I’m listening.”
“I bet you Natasha is going to bite someone,” Steve said with a grin. Bucky guffawed.
“Why on earth would she bite a monster?” Bucky demanded.
“Frustration?” Steve replied. Bucky rolled his eyes.
“Steve, I trained the woman,” Bucky said. “I can tell you with certainty that she has never bitten anyone because that’s a dumbass tactic unless you’re in a fistfight and you need to catch someone off guard. I trained her better than that.”
“Fine then,” Steve said. “I bet you that she’ll jump on a monster’s back while it’s running past her and bite it.”
“Stevie, if she does that, I’ll give you a fucking blowjob,” Bucky declared.

Fresh Listen - Carlos Niño and Friends - More Energy Fields, Current (Rough Trade, 2021)

Much music listening is fishing. Consciously or unconsciously, we bait our hooks with naked minds and dangle the lines out from our drifting vessels. Even when we are actively listening, most songs float by unnoticed, and for those few that do bite, we might only feel a flash of recognition, hardly the flame of an all-encompassing ecstasy, or the vicarious earthquake of catharsis. And so we drift, reeling in and letting out again, hoping for that as-yet unheard song to sink its teeth into the brain we’ve released to the open waters and drag us, vessel and all, into depths of feeling previously unexplored.
The waters through which Carlos Niño and Friends’ latest full-length record, More Energy Fields, Current, are deep, for the most part, and still. One can become sun-blind staring after a piece of music that might, at first, appear as a song, or just a segment of melody. We toss our full attention at it, and with it the powers of our consciousness, only to have the snatch of a tune sink out of sight. The artist and his band aspire to sonic Impressionism, invoking the listener’s imagination to render what may at first seem haphazard ruminations into something artistically cohesive.
In comparison with subsequent tracks, opener “Pleasewakeupalittlefaster please…” comes across as almost conventional, at least in the way it grows toward song-hood. The repeated piano chords, which seem to be played in another room from the rest of the proceedings, remind one of the skeleton spine of a country spiritual, the buried saxophone vamping undead birdsong against a number of prefabricated electro sounds. As the sounds accumulate, they impress upon the mind a lonely prayer rehearsed in an abandoned church toward the end of day, as nature’s voices cycle through--the wind, the insects, the bedding down birds--an endless accompaniment to human activities. A late-added synthesizer line creates a folky, surprisingly gospel-tinged harmony that could time perfectly with scythe swings at harvest. The image of a country church at sundown eventually clarifies in the mind’s eye, as the ghost piano player repeats his chords to dry empty fields and phantom workers trapped to their labor continue their ceaseless scything, night falling on the burned out building.
I can only guess at the intent of “The World Stage 4321 Degnan Boulevard Los Angeles California 90008.” Did they just roll tape and knock about with the instruments they had at hand: a nervy synth lick weaving at random between a drum pattern that defies rhythm, until a haunting piano line, implanted from another tune altogether, pulls the song toward an illusory purpose it was never meant to actualize? Or is the song a metaphor for the thought process itself, with disparate strands of consciousness attempting to coalesce around some motivating whole, while commenting on the futility of such a model of thought?
“Nightswimming” begins similarly, though its drifting is not as fraught, as rippling with unresolved expression. Slowly, “Nightswimming” evolves toward a song, ushered midway through by a recurrent piano that lifts the instruments to a shimmering hip-hop track, vocal-less, sonic envelopes opening and closing in time.
The askew, noirish middle and end of “Now the background is the foreground” is a stark transition from the deconstructed be-bop of the first few minutes, with the saxophonist locked into a repetitive motif and the drummer perpetually in the middle of a break. “Thanking the Earth” is seemingly static, invoking the feeling of floating in place, then sinking; and the further down one sinks the more magnificent the illuminated depths become, a universe unseen opening wider the deeper one goes, the greater the pressure becomes. By the end, the listener is gently washed up on the shore, small waves sliding over a wet, motionless body.
Close your eyes as “Ripples, Reflection, Loop” plays and you will find yourself in a rainforest on an alien planet, water lapping in puddles disturbed by dripping leaves and the masticating of strange animals under the wind. The sonic texture--all musical instruments are directed toward texture, primarily--merges into a blended note of togetherness, emoting like the one heartsick cicada just barely heard among the millions of his brethren. And “Iasos 79 ‘til Infinity” propels the listener through a kind of frictionless space until the words the previously articulated thought are unintelligible, and we are left with a jarring, primeval hum until the ultimate silence.
A slightly rejiggered “Pleasewakeupalittlefaster please…” closes More Energy, with a horn now announcing the at-first gently insistent piano chords, as if announcing a brigade of spirits into the dimness of the eternal room at dusk. Everything that ends returns in another guise.
Why pretend it is not so?
Carlos Niño and Friends, with their sublimated beats and half-melodies provoke us into completing the music they’ve presented with our own frames of reference. It is a music that plays, is not simply played. Like a magic word, it can animate, motivate, but it requires the living energy of timagination to make the magic work.

“I bet you Natasha is going to bite someone,” Steve said with a grin. Bucky guffawed.
“Why on earth would she bite a monster?” Bucky demanded.
“Frustration?” Steve replied. Bucky rolled his eyes.
“Steve, I trained the woman,” Bucky said. “I can tell you with certainty that she has never bitten anyone because that’s a dumbass tactic unless you’re in a fistfight and you need to catch someone off guard. I trained her better than that.”
“Fine then,” Steve said. “I bet you that she’ll jump on a monster’s back while it’s running past her and bite it.”
“Stevie, if she does that, I’ll give you a fucking blowjob,” Bucky declared.
