thank you, @staff, for somehow making the dashboard even worse. is this, like... a joke? like, are you guys actively going out of your way, snickering to each other in the boardroom, about how to make the worst possible changes just to see how far you can go? sure feels like it.

one of my fave things about teaching is that I’m NOT a counselor and I don’t have to get into the weeds with a student but also I’m part of their life every day and i see when they’re struggling and I can ask how them how they’re doing and make sure that they know I see them on a steady, daily basis and it will be healing for both of us
#I teach a student who hit a wall a few weeks ago and just refused to go to school and was just all around struggling with his mental health#and this is not a kid who wants to talk to me about it or would even know how and I also know he has people where he can#But I’ve just tried to make sure that There’s a little extra contact and a few more questions and just a little bit more#and obviously I am not the cause of his doing better but overall I know that it helps#while still being such a subtle and ordinary human exchange that doesn’t force either of us to go to extreme lengths#like man I really LOVE that space and living in it#and just being a (hopefully) stable place for the kids to be seen in a small but consistent way#teaching tag#something about holding them in the safety of manners while also modeling what that looks like for them#it’s so gratifying to me and it helps me too!#like yes we should greet each other! We should ask how we’re doing! we should exchange pleasantries#and it’s important to me that that happens without getting personal sometimes or overly involved#pleasantries don’t have to be cold things and you can be seen and validated by a momentary kind glance as much as by someone digging#into your soul#it can be light and life-giving at the same time#it can be fun!#I’m sorry I’m rambling and over-saying this but it’s Saturday#!!!!!!

i need help to manage my budget... by help i mean 3 million euro sent directly from heaven i guess
#this is not even about The Economy and Housing Crisis this is like. my life and choices lately lol afjsahfjk let's see:#1. christmas gifts - i don't even know how much i spent on them because i had the flu and wasn't really thinking but let's say 1000 pln#2. trip for new years eve to the mountains - 2200 for hotel and then let's say 300-350 for food and stuff#3. bills like the internet and phone is 90; rent is 1100#4. trip to warsaw 100 hotel 180 food and drinks 200 ?#5. meet and greet with simple plan 800 .... i will never recover sfshdfsj but it was kinda worth it - won't do that again tho#6. groceries since i am back 120#7. and now i need to travel back home and it's like a cumulation because it was my dad's name day + my mom's birthday and their wedding#anniversary adsfhgsdjhsd so i need gifts again i mean i want to buy them something nice i already spent 180 pln but i will buy something#extra for each of them because i kinda want to because we see each other so rarely#8. public transport ticket for another month is 80#9. i will have to pay rent again soon and the internet and phone#10. i have a wedding coming and like 37 concerts#to sum up. i am Fucked <3 but writing it out helped a little ;_;#i will eat concrete and drywall by march <3#personal

Seeing Redfall get absolutely awful reviews is like watching one of your best friends get actively worse because of their possessive partner who isn’t right for them at all
Hey Anon, I'm not sure I totally get your metaphor—I think Redfall is the friend, and reviewers are the partner who "isn't right" because it's not their type of game? But yeah, it does suck to see, and I'm skeptical of a lot of them. So many having short playtimes, and/or criticisms so vague that it's unclear what their actual issue with the game is, feels a little suspicious to me.
I'm not saying the game's perfect—I've had some minor bugs myself, and sometimes when I get to a new area/run far enough it'll freeze for a second as things load—but what big game doesn't launch a bit buggy? There's too many moving parts, and too much variability in folks' computer configurations, there's always gonna be something. I do look forward to some patches to see if it fixes the freezing for me, but I find it playable enough to still enjoy until then.
I also play games for story, rather than gameplay, so that could be another differentiating factor for me. While I do generally enjoy getting story via cutscenes and don't mind loading screens, so I'd also personally have been fine if it wasn't open world, I do also like good written lore and environmental storytelling. There's been some interesting highlighted notes about what the folks in Redfall experienced, some cool in-universe fiction I know Dev's book is out there and I NEED TO FIND IT, and even some not-highlighted written stuff that adds even more to the setting. I've also seen both amusing and heartbreaking environmental storytelling.
For example, in the Shadetree Supper Club parking lot, there's a stack of boards that make a ramp up to a low barrier, with an overturned golf cart on the other side. In front of the golf cart was a bottle of vodka—so someone got drunk and tried to launch a golf cart off a ramp, which failed hilariously. But there's no blood, so they walked away from the attempt. Further on, in the building, you can find a written note (the title's something like "Don't be Afraid #1"), with two sleeping bags set up next to a large bike and a small bike. Are they okay, that adult and the kid they were trying to help not panic about the dentist? I don't know, but probably not, and it breaks my heart. Further in, at the bar, there's two dead civilians—but also a few dead cultists, which you don't see often, so those folks actually managed to hold their own for a bit when the shit hit the fan.
And that's just in that one key area. Sure, there's open space on the roads and forests, plus totally boarded up houses. Given what's been happening in the town, I find all that fitting. But if you take the time to look at the areas where there's clusters of cars, or spot something among the trees, or observe the placement of things while you're inside buildings, or read posters and notes that aren't highlighted? There was a good bit of deliberate attention put into all of that, to show what life was like over the past several weeks in Redfall. (And if you haven't yet, give a go at staring at the in-game eclipse every now and then.) Hell, even the currency is called "support," and the junk you pick up is stuff that would actually be useful for the survivors. So even some of the mechanics are arranged to underline that the point of the story is centered around trying to bolster and save Redfall's community.
There's plenty of story to absorb, and emotions that it can evoke, if you approach it the way they've presented it.
#redfall#not art#hell I took a while just absorbing each of the PCs' respective bed setups#there's a solid amount of identity in those too#Remi's got running sneakers and a water bottle nearby#Layla's got cool posters and a ton of fiction books#Dev's got hilarious/nerdy posters and medical books#Jacob's got a target practice poster over a dartboard across the room#and a box of tissues? which makes me worry his eye's infected/not healing right and gets leaky sometimes#the key NPCs also use PC names in standard greetings/goodbyes#which feels like a rarity to me especially in multi-PC games#it's just that little extra bit of connection and I like it#I'm even trying to avoid using environmental hazards in combat#to keep property damage/casualties to a minimum#because I don't want to leave the survivors a blasted-out town#I wanna get through saving them with as much intact as I can manage

i would love to love diwali but something about it just makes me sad
#idk it's this weird memory induced feeling that I've had since 11th#but then i will have to visit and greet other family members participate in their whole pooja thing#the lights clothes and food are the only good part#except i don't go out during that part of night because everyone is bursting crackers in front of every building#and i don't like eating much because i don't want to look at pics ehere there is even slightest bloating#and i did not even buy anything this year because we are in constant on and off fights#plus it's a holiday and i don't want to deal with another extra day of my week being ruined because of someone's presence#maybe if i was away i would've loved it#but other than dressing up and music part and forcing myself to enjoy it i hate everything about diwali#v.txt

the real problem with ordering a bunch of perfume samples is I wanna try em aaaallll right noooowww
#I need to make testing strips... although that's still not the same as actually trying something on your skin :')#I haven't even TRIED any of the Weird Ones yet I got distracted by the discovery of two(!) extra samples I didn't order#and I got enough of one of those on me while opening the bottle that I just leaned in and dabbed some on my wrists#so now I'm already be-scented and also a little sniff fatigued from sniffin a couple of the sniffs#this one is quite nice but also. I wanna sniff the wizard ones.
