Porcupine Tree @ Mexico City 2022 🇲🇽 🇬🇧

My. Fucking. God.

Where do I even begin to explain the absolute bliss I felt during the 3 hour long show????

Being Porcupine Tree my absolute favorite band ever and being a big Steven Wilson fangirl, in no way I was gonna miss this show. The whole day was an adventure, though. Sadly, my girlfriend had an accident around 5 am that day and was unable to go to the concert. I went to take care of her the whole afternoon and she told me to give her ticket to someone else. By the evening, her brothers were taking care of her and knowing she was safe, resting and feeling a little better but not enough to leave home, after talking about the situation, I left to the concert. (She's even better by the time of this post, thankfully.)

Arriving somewhere but not here at the venue, I waited for some friends that I told to reunite with me at the entrance, and I met at least ten other friends that I didn't expect to see there, from classmates to teachers and fellow musicians. It felt nice to know more people appreciate this band as much as I do (almost).

I entered the venue a little late, mostly because I was waiting for my friends before going into the Pepsi Center auditorium together, so I wasn't in place to enjoy properly one of my favorite songs from them: Blackest Eyes. I was listening to it as I was walking to my table in the VIP Lounge section, almost at the very front. (I'll never be able to thank my godfather enough for that). Said table was next to a metal railing spliting the general section from this one, where I spent the whole concert in monke mode shaking it, shouting and waving at my favorite ensemble.

After Blackest Eyes ended, Steven took the microphone to formally introduce the show and mentioned they'd play the whole Closure/Continuation album just before Harridan began sounding. That song to me is already destined to be a classic of the band. Such a fucking brilliant comeback, my gaaaaaaaaaawd 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I'm not gonna describe the events song by song, though. You should know, however, that there is a tradition here in Mexico that involves throwing a plushie of the mascot from a popular national pharmacy franchise called "Dr. Simi" into the stage. At a certain point of the concert, one of those flew right into the tour's bassist Nate Navarro, so, after that song ended, Steven asked for more plushies to be thrown at them. Only one more Simi, a porcupine and a mexican flag made it there, to which Steven showed a little comical disappointment.

In general we all noticed Steven somewhat quirky and in a very good mood. The whole band was, in fact. Even Barbieri's cheeks rose one millimeter at one point of the night. Steven joked about having to make an intermission because of them being old. Also, at some other point, he asked the crowd to shout "Happy Birthday Yali" while recording it into his cellphone to show the video afterwards to his adoptive daughter. What a sweet, heartwarming detail 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

The songs they played outside of C/C were Even Less, Drown With Me and Last Chance To Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled (not in that order). Love those songs, but when the feels really started to kick in was when Fear Of A Blank Planet began. That album saved my life from eternal mysery of a poor career choice. It felt very intimate.

When I really lost it was with Anesthetize. As soon as I began hearing the guitar intro I couldn't contain myself and I started crying a fucking river. Ugly face, runny nose, shouting the lyrics with no mistakes and headbanging as hard as I fucking could. That song means the absolute world to me. One of my friends had to hug my from how aggressively I was sobbing. I remember that moment and I want to start crying as hard again. I even shouted from the top of my lungs "TE AMO STEVEN" like a K-pop stan. I'm a big dummy for him, I swear.

They ended the show after "playing adult peek-a-boo" with Collapse The Light and Trains, and as if it had been only 30 minutes, the concert was over. Made some impulsive t-shirt purchasing after that and I got an In Absentia one and a FOABP that doesn't fucking fit me because I couldn't fucking read the tag attached to it.

So, yeah. It was a lifetime experience that I am extremely thankful to have lived and shared with my friends, and a memory I'll carry dearly until the day I die. I want to cry again. Hug me, please.

Now that the tour is over I feel like I can say I think you totally won this tour. Your show was the best. Biggest show on the tour. Calum in that suit with the mesh shirt. Ashton quite literally glowing like he had been blessed by some rock entity. Michael on his knees with that pink shirt. Luke with the mm&i suit. First live performance of mm&i. You got talk fast, beside you AND lover of mine. Calum calling everyone hot in Spanish. Also that clip of him throwing the bear. Amazing. I have a live stream of that show saved that i catch myself watching sometimes cuz it was just that good. That's all I wanted to say.

and now i'm about to go on a ramble so bear with me.

*loud sigh* yeah, okay. Yes. I, of course, agree with you. and you bringing up this after just a couple of days ago i got terribly sentimental about it.... yeah. I think it was during the weekend while I was making breakfast when my brain went HEY *SLAP* remember this? And it was when the vocalist of the opening act (Bruses) was telling us how they got to the show, how 5sos were interested in having someone local, and how she was living in some small appartment just a few months ago, trying to make the music thing work, and now (so, the day of the show) they were playing to 18k people, and she couldn't believe it. And then everyone started chanting "sí se pudo" (there's no direct translation with the same meaning, but that would be smth like "you made it"), and it got pretty emotional, even when, i'm sure, many of us heard of them for the first time that same day. They gave a very good show, with an ode to the chorus of Helena by MCR at the end, which my emo ass appreciated a lot, thanked us for being a supportive crowd and then left us ready for 5sos.

Naturally, that got me thinking of the whole show and going through my ig post and all the shaky videos i took. And honestly u mentioning all these pivotal points of the show has me very

because, yeah, Ash was glowing that night and i still can hear his voice crystal clear in my head, just like Luke's angelic vocals and Calum's accent while talking in spanish [insert multiple smiley crying emojis here]. And Talk Fast 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 it sounds so dramatic but if i had died without listening to talk fast live and in person at least once, i'd have haunted the earth forever. (But i won't have to!! bc i got to hear it🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰) And the bear you mention, the funniest part is that it wasn't a bear, it's actually a Dr. Simi jsdjjssjsjhd Farmacias Similares is a pharmacy chain that has it's own 'pet', which is our dear Mr. Dr. Simi here:

and it's become sort of a tradition over the last few years to bring these little guys to concerts, with different styles and costumes and throw them to bands during shows (it's happened with MCR, Gorillaz, Coldplay, etc). and i'm sure several got thrown at 5sos<3 jsjs

anyways, the show was incredible, the boys kill it in every way possible and even though we were all squished together in pit during the first half of the show, i'm sure everyone had the time of their lives. And when we were leaving the venue, someone started singing the chorus of yb and we all started singing along and honestly dude🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 i fucking love human connection over music. I can't wait to see them live again.

"Shit! I'm going to be late!!" I yelled to no one in particular, getting my things together and cursing myself for the current predicament. You'd think I'd get it together by college, but i was as messy and jumbled as always.

The current predicament: I was late for a my first day of class, a class that was very important, since it was with Hitoshi Shinsou, aka the guy I'd been mad crushing on since two semesters ago. We were both humanities majors; him in criminology and forensics, me in sociology and abnormal psychology. We went to a small university in rural Oregon, with a small, dedicated staff and one main building for each individual colleges. And we were in the same STAT 305: Stats for Humanity major and PSYCH 706A: Critical Thinking in Psychology class this semester.

I grabbed everything I thought I needed, and rushed out of my room, grabbing an individual-wrapped brownie and a cotton candy energy drink from my fridge and stuffing them in my bag before rushing out the door, getting to the psych building with three minutes to spare.

I sighed, plopping into an empty desk somewhere in the middle-side of the classroom, glad the teacher was still not here. The psych professors at this college were all eccentric in their own rights, and I'd never had this professor before.

I caught my breath, scanning the room. Most everyone here was someone I knew or at least, I recognized their faces. This group of people tended to be serious, and brilliant, and I was confident it would be a good class. I sighed a breath of relief, getting my stuff ready. I pulled out my notebook for this class, turning it to the first lined page. I also pulled out two pens, a highlighter, and placed my brownie and my energy drink near the top of the desk to avoid spillage. I was so wrapped up in what I was doing that I didn't even notice who came into the room.

"Excuse me," a deep, instantly recognized voice asked, and I jumped before looking up, seeing none other than Hitoshi Shinsou standing next to the empty desk next to me. "Is that seat taken?"

"Uhhh....not that I know of?" I replied, slightly dumbfounded. Could I handle this?

"K. Thanks," he replied nonchalantly, sliding into the desk to my right. He set his cool grey messenger bag on the other side of the desk, pulling out a black notebook and tucking a pen behind his ear, setting up. I kept my body language casual, facing forward, but I couldn't stop myself from glancing over every so often, careful to not get caught.

I'd met the basically-demigod Hitoshi Shinsou in Intro to Psych, two semesters ago. It may be silly of me, but I'm pretty sure I started crushing on him the moment I saw him. He was tall, slender but solid, with purple hair that was constantly pushed back. At first, I thought he styled it that way, but having been in class with him and staring occasionally noticing him, it really was his fault his hair did that. He often sighed and ran a hand through his hair whenever he was really thinking about something. It was actually kinda cute, he did it so often that during tests sometimes there'd be a slight imprint of the base of his palm against his hairline. Was this weird to notice?

I tried to be careful, but on my third or fourth glance over at him, we accidentally made eye contact. His eyebrow twitched slightly in the brief second we made eye contact, and it caught me off guard to the point that my hand jerked, knocking my energy drink off the desk. It fell to my right, and hit the ground.

I hesitated reaching for it, and before I could grab it, Hitoshi had swiped it up and put it back on my desk, eyeing it.

"Never seen that flavor before," he stated casually.

"Oh! Yeah, haha, cotton candy is one of my favorite flavor of anything," I said just a bit to fast. Oh god, here was the perfect opportunity to make a good impression on him and here I was, blowing it. Though if he noticed my nervousness, he didn't indicate it.

"Huh. Next thing you know, they'll make a birthday cake flavored one," he said with a slight scoff.

"They do. It's okay, but kinda weird. It tastes like liquid cake and makes my mouth all confused."

Hitoshi raised an eyebrow at me, his violet eyes light and playful. "Sounds like you've got a sweet tooth."

Was this happening? Was I actually having a normal conversation with Hitoshi? I laughed, nervous, and reached for the can.

"Oh, I mean, I guess so, I'm a foodie in gener-"

"Stop," he interrupted.

"Huh?" God, had I already talked too much? Was I boring him? Before my thoughts could spiral me any more, though, he continued.

"That just fell on the floor. Don't open it right now."

I looked down, to where my hand was on top of the can tab, about to open it. I guess I was so nervous I didn't realize what my hands were doing.

"O-oh, right. Thanks," I said, warmth creeping up my neck and cheeks.

Luckily, I was saved from more awkward conversation by the professor coming in. Dr. Aizawa was one of the senior psychology professors at the school; he mainly oversaw higher levels of psych classes, and this one, Critical Thinking in Psych. I sighed, resolving to focus on the professor for the rest of class.

Later in the week, it's time for STAT 305, and I am prepared. It's my only class of the day, so I take time in the morning, eat breakfast, and shower, leaving early and slipping into a seat near the window. I stare out of it, my eyes flitting around, idly people-watching, before turning back to the classroom. It had filled up in the time I was staring out the window, and I briefly notice the seat next to me was the only seat not taken. Wait, is....

I turn my head and scan the room, but I really might as well not have bothered, as Hitoshi strode into the room just before the professor did. He had big purple headphones, and as he looked around the room, my pulse quickened. No way was I going to survive this semester if I'm both classes he sits next to me.

He spots the seat next to me and heads over. I turn my gaze down, chewing on my lip a bit as I fiddle with my pen. Should I make a joke? Should I say hi? Should I not acknowledge him at all?

I hear him set down his stuff and slide into his seat. I can't help myself and I glance at him in my peripheral. He takes off his headphones smoothly, resting them around his neck before running a hand through his hair. Luckily, Professor Nezu starts speaking, and I will myself to concentrate on what he's saying.

".....and don't forget, get your books by Tuesday. I'll post the reading and the syllabus online, make sure to take a look through both before next class. Dismissed."

I started to get my stuff together, grabbing my backpack from off the floor when Hitoshi interrupted my thoughts.

"Hey."

"Yeah?" I replied evenly, looking up to glance at him while continuing my motions. An idle hope flitted by, wouldn't it be awesome if he asked to trade numbers?

"We should trade contact info."

Wait, what? Did that just happen? I looked up to him, and I guess my face gave away my surprised, because he spoke quickly.

"Not to....be weird or whatever. Just that we have a couple classes together this semester. We could study together."

Hitoshi Shinsou wants to study. With me. Luckily I regain my composure nearly instantly, thanks to years of masking.

"Oh! Sure! Great idea, it'll be more efficient," I responded. We traded phones, typing our contact information in before swapping back. Hitoshi Shinsou's phone number is in my contact list.

"Cool. See you around, Alis," he said, putting his messenger on one shoulder. Putting his headphones back on, he strode towards the door.

"Y-yeah, see you..." I quickly gathered my stuff, dumbfounded, before heading back to my dorm.

The first weekend of the semester came, and with that, so did my weekly smoke sessions with the crew. We'd all met during orientation and immediately hit it off, and today was no different.

"Guess who has pizza rolls~" Hawks crowed, bringing a full tray of steamy, half-open pizza rolls on a large platter. They set it down on the table where the rest of us sat, plopping down on one of the couches. The smoke spot for the most part was the basement of Adgy's parents' house, which coincidentally was their bedroom, and our club's secret sanctuary.

"So let me get this straight," Vibby started as I took a long hit off one of the bongs being passed around. "Hitoshi Shinsou asked for your number. And wants to study together. This is your chance!!"

I laughed, a bit too hard and I descended into a coughing fit, passing on the bong and lighter to Simi, who passed it to Cloudy.

"Step one: message him," Hawks grinned, blowing onto a pizza roll before popping it into their mouth. "Step two: suck his dick. Step three: invite us to the wedding."

"God I wish," I said lightly, a nervous tinge to my laugh.

"Suck his dick! Suck his dick!" Adgy teased, and before long, the rest of the circle had joined in as I flushed, grabbing my pipe from the table and hitting the bowl.

"I wonder if the curtains match the drapes," Cloudy said idly, after the chanting had died down.

"No way," Adgy replied. "Have you seen the way he dresses? Dude totally manscapes."

"Okay, guys, I don't need to be thinking about Hiroshi's crotch right now, I can already barely face him," I joked.

"Let's take bets to see how this plays out," Hawks grinned. "Hmmm......dinner on me says he's gonna use a study session to flirt. Ooooo, maybe he'll lean in reeeeeal close when you're checking an answer together~"

"God," I sighed, leaning back. "I wish. Could you imagine?"

"Ten bucks says he just kisses shine out of the blue," Adgy said. "I bet he's totally the type to kiss you to get you to shut up."

"My money's on Alis accidentally confessing," Vibby said, nudging me slightly. "You do have a tendency to panic when you're flustered."

"Oooh, good point," Hawks replied, grinning. "He seems the type to play with his food."

"Y'all!!" I squeaked, hiding my face in my hands. God, I was going to die if this keeps up.

"Okay, fine, we'll ease up," Simi smiled, before breezily changing the topic. I breathed a sigh of relief, but the images of what my friends said kept me awake all night, my mind racing with the thought of those things happening to me.

My playthroughs so far

I started innocently more interested in the new stuff while not even remembering the old base game I played without the DLCs. The result was my Private Investigator witch found a lot of annoying bugs

but at least she has a falcon

after some other not worth mentioning saves where I was just checking out stuff

I was trying out inventor and vampire, somewhat inspired by my own old idea for a game

I quit like what I’ve done with the place, the hidden bookshelf door that leads into basement xD and also hate I never bothered to actually finish the interior

Now was the time to give Private Investigator another shot. I gave up on the idea of having the assistant helper/dr. Watson as I’m pretty sure the gameplay would not let me so the girl was just writing books all day ^^;

I quit like the interior...

Return of the witch playthrough. I loved the new world map

I would love to come back to this map

my gameplay kinda took a different turn. I freaking hate the husbands family house it comes with ridiculous bills and no space to put cool stuff

but at least she has a falcon

The next witch was the kind with poisoned apples xD The most fun I had with this game xD

Household was freaking amazing too if I was roleplaying as the Addams family chances are gameplay wouldn’t be that fun

I left to see how genetics works and what kind of kids you could end up (genetically speaking the simy in picture above would be the aunt if she was in this save)

Scrooge was something I started contemplating at that time. I thought about Scooby-Doo gang too and I also wanted to go for a music band playthrough (BUt apparently you can’t have a freaking singer) (and sims with guitars are also idiots they’ll play far away from everyone else... sometimes they leave the freaking house to play outside)

I didn’t really have much free time for what I wanted to really do in this save so this was more of a world map test. The map was really good there’s a perfect place to build the house and there’s also a thieving grandma with her family *cough* Ma Beagle *cough*. Originally I wanted to have Donald and nephews living on the map and have Scrooge go on world adventures. I’d also have to create Della and Donald’s mom as that’s the only way to get Scrooge as uncle in the family tree (and Donald as uncle).

But yeah I was time pressed and just gave up. I was going to just have him travel while living in already existing big house on the map

...and that’s when I found out this map has the most gorgeous sim of them ALL

and boy when the hearts popped up after they meet

my whole roleplaying was ruined xD

Pain was at 8 out of 10 almost every day. If I did NOTHING then the pain went down to 3. If I even walked up steps it would go to 5 or 6 for 24 hours. I’d rest and it would feel better so I tried to “live normally” and work…which means I would be hiking trails, running, walking at boot camp.

Friend Ann Archinal had mentioned 1 million times that I should check into Regenexx’s procedure and possibly be part of a Clinical Trial. Began the process but was told I had to be “qualified” by a Regenexx doctor, which required an MRI. I found a doctor in Simi Valley on Alamo Street (right around the corner from where I live).

Work continued to antagonize my knees and since it got worse and worse we opted to get an MRI at Ventura Orthopedic in Simi Valley, CA. That cost $400.

MRI on right knee only was analyzed and sent to my sports chiropractor Dr. David Sommer, Sommer Sports Chiropractic in Simi Valley, CA. He explained the findings. MRI showed torn meniscus and burst baker’s cyst in my left knee. DISCOVERED LATER: Bone spurs and arthritis in my right knee.

Set appointment for Regenexx doctor in Simi. Just to see him cost $350. Went to appointment, he reviewed MRI and told me I was a candidate. Offered three solutions: cut, stem cell, do nothing. He said he would do Stem Cell for $9700 for ONE knee. He printed two pieces of paper from his website and charged me another $100. I left there pissed and resigned with the fact that I would never get my knees repaired.

Went to Facebook, Regenexx’s site. Posted that I had been quoted $9,200 for my knee. Immediately replies started to pop up, One said “$1,700 in Texas” which prompted me to begin researching other possibilities. One hour later I discovered that Regenexx had removed my post PLUS all of the replies and information. DANG IT. Luckily I’d written down a few notes and discovered a realistic solution.

Found Dr. Venkatesh Movva and called to find out if I could go there and what the cost would be. Quoted $6,000 for both knees (he would need to see my right knee himself and agreed to do this without the MRI).

THE PROCEDURE – TIME LINE

Tuesday August 23rd to Saturday August 27th

One little love bug living at my Air BNB place.

Tuesday. Day 1 flew to Texas (round trip tickets American Airlines $204 through Hotwire), got a rental car (Hertz $200) and drove to my Air BNB place in Grapevine Texas ($262) which I highly recommend you book.

Wednesday. Day 2 arrive at Dr Venkatesh Movva’s office at 9:00am and filled in paperwork and paid for both knees to have the Regenexx Stem Cell procedure. At about 11:00am I had injections by Dr Movva that I was told would inspire my body to send my blood to my knees to prepare for my stem cell injection the following day. Left after an hour and drove to a nice outdoor mall and wandered around. Noted that I was in less pain (I’d say 25%) and got a bit excited.

Day two! Bone marrow draw. Wore my PEACE headgear to keep calm.

Thursday. Day 3 arrived at 9:00am for bone marrow draw. You lie down on a table face down and injections to numb my hip area are done. It was numb. Dr Movva drew 3 vials of my bone marrow. It did not hurt at all and I was wide awake. I felt a sort of heavy pressure on my hip bones. Sent to lunch and then returned. My marrow had been split into platelets and stem cells. The stem cells were injected into my knees. This hurt a tiny bit and I think it was mostly because I was able to watch it happen (since I was on my back and wide awake). A little spray can was used in the areas the needles were going into. There was really no pain, just a “fullness” in the joint area. Sent to meet with the Physical Therapist for my PT assignment, fit for two knee braces and a set of crutches (same building) then directed to go home and STAY OFF MY LEGS.

Friday. Day 4 arrived at 10:00am to get my final injection which was my platelets. This hurt more than anything else. One side hurt way more than the other . Dr Movva said my reaction was the same as every other person and was normal.

Saturday. Day 5 got up super early to get to car rental return (Hertz) and fly home (American Airlines) from Dallas/Fort Worth. Hertz was ready (I was alone and called ahead telling them of my “stay off your knees” circumstances) to pick me up and take me to the airport in a private car! When I got dropped off a DFW employee scooped me up with a wheel chair and took me to my gate. I was embarrassed to use this but MAN it was necessary!

Followed instructions of NO RUNNING OR IMPACT for 5 weeks.

Began slowly. Tried Aqua Running before the 5 weeks was up and directed by Dr. Movva to go at 25% only (which I did).

I was 50% on doing my PT which I regret.

MONTH 1 SEPTEMBER

Went on a vacation to Oregon. Biked and walked a lot, braces on made it cumbersome. Knocking my knees a lot (the braces are very stabilizing…and HUGE) and tripping when they caught on each other. Knees had a slight pain but it was dull. Pain would be 3 out of 10. Did my PT 4 times a week average. It was tough stuff but when I did it I felt less pain the following day. My PT took 60 minutes not rushing.

MONTH 2 OCTOBER

Began walking slowly and jogged a little. Less pain. Knees felt unstable as though they were loose. Work was easier and I was able to run exercise stations and demonstrate (without extra weight). PT was 2-3x per week, regrettably. Began mountain bike riding and road rides for 1-2 hours at least once a week but started to feel pain on the back of my knees after a lot of uphill climbing. Continued to fall back on my “pain” habits such as gripping stairwell banisters, going down steps one at a time and slowly…mentally I feel like I’m shedding these go-to practices that always helped me alleviate the pain.

MONTH 3 NOVEMBER

Lots of activity, braces off. PT remained 2-3x per week. Again noticing how strong knees felt the day following PT. By end of October I was doing squats, running trails and road SLOWLY (partly because it has been years of low activity and my cardio was weak). Mountain bike riding was easier so I began pushing myself. Signed up for Spartan training and dialed it back on any lower body exercises. Noticed the pain in my knees when I did burpees (the kick out) so stopped. Pain stayed and moved to a 4 so I wrote to Dr. Movva and he replied right away despite being in India where he helps children (love that). He offered a Booster PRP procedure and said he would not charge me for it if I could get into the offices for the one-day procedure.

MONTH 4 DECEMBER

Feeling good and better after resting and staying mostly immobile during our time off of camp. It couldn’t have been better timing to have a break. I did no running, stopped drinking alcohol through the New Year! Focused on healthier nutrition during the down time. Felt like my knees were recovered.

MONTH 5 JANUARY

Started the year off slowly but eventually riding and running trails (slowly). No PT at all but do not feel the need for it because I feel stable and strong in my knees. RAN stadium at Moorpark twice, walked up and ran down Hummingbird Trail and Chumash. Ran /Walked Tapo Open Space. Things are stronger and no pain.

MONTH 6 FEBRUARY

Able to squat down low with kettle bells (26 and 18 lbs), swinging bells, burpees, jump rope and continued road and trail hiking.

Overall my experience was incredible. The only part of my procedure that was awful was visiting the arrogant local “authorized doctor” to find out if I was a “candidate” for the Regenexx procedure.

CURRENTLY (APRIL 2017)

Wow. I’m SO HAPPY I got this procedure. I am able to participate in pretty much any activity (with training) that I want from being a boot camper to running trails and road. I am mentally still worried to push the envelope and blow my knees out – but so far I’ve had no pain at all. LIKE AT ALL.

One thing that began in 2013 was my knee going out of it’s joint. That is very painful. It’s “almost” happened on both knees a few times in the past two months. Randomly I’ll be moving my legs (like swinging them onto the bed or into the truck to sit) and a knee will get that pang of pain. It takes my breath away instantly then is gone – no remnants. I believe I just need to keep strengthening the surrounding tissue by USING my legs and following the PT work.

I would only recommend Dr. Venkatesh Movva. He can review your MRI and tell you the truth from any place on earth. Just get your MRI and send it to him.

If you do end up using his services, be sure you mention you read my blog. He will appreciate knowing and maybe (just maybe) give you a “Sarita special deal”!

Pain began three years prior (2013) in my left knee and got worse over the years. No ONE event happened. I was very active as a kid into my high school years playing soccer, softball and volleyball. I got tons of injuries, mostly twisted ankles, that I’m sure I did not allow to heal properly before jumping back into my sport.

At age 38 I became a boot camp owner which “required” teaching exercises, running road and trails. My life went from cubicles to running around the planet and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

After the pain in my left knee began I backed off. It was an up and down ride on recovery inbetween visits to my chiropractor for therapy and my massage therapist for relief and excruciating fun on my IT band. The pain was undiagnosed because we did not have insurance and I am a “suck it up” type of person.

Eventually, over three years, I went from running races and training for them (25K Bulldog, Half Marathons, Xterra) and our boot camp regular trail running to walking races and trails for our boot camp to just sitting in the car because I could NOT ascend one of my favorite trails without paying for it dearly.

We finally saved enough money to get an MRI. This is after spending the three years going to chiropractic and massage for relief (which I did have, but then I’d go run again and it would return even worse).

MRI showed a torn meniscus with a Baker’s cyst that burst. NO WONDER I WAS IN PAIN ALL THE TIME.

Spent too much time trying to become a candidate for a Regenexx “Clinical Trial” which may have happened but I did not live in Colorado and/or they didn’t care who I was or my situation.

My friend Ann had the procedure for her knee and a shoulder injury and she was back up and operational in a short amount of time.

I decided to get myself to a doctor to find out if I was a candidate. We had to pay $350 just to sit in the room with this doctor and he looked at my MRI then described the few options: stem cell, surgery, nothing (pain management…aka pills).

He said he could handle my left torn meniscus with stem cell but it was not guaranteed (of course). Stem cell meant there would be no tissue removed and I was good with that. It would be my own stem cells…good with that. I would only need to pay him $9200 for it. He printed me two more pieces of paper FROM HIS WEBSITE then sent me on my way…after charging me another $100.

I left his office PISSED at his arrogance and certain I’d never get this procedure.

The next day I went to the Regenexx Facebook Page and left a note for everyone to read (or it was a comment, it has since been removed): “Got a quote for a torn meniscus and baker’s cyst in my left knee for $9200. This is way more expensive than I expected.”

Immediately comments began popping up from other folks that were in the forum. Most people were commenting on how much they’d paid. One person posted “$1,700 in Texas”. I almost fell out of my chair.

I hobbled downstairs to Randy’s office to tell him the good news!

From there my quest became locating the doctor that had given this procedure for this price. I logged back into Facebook to find the person and ask more questions. THE POST WAS COMPLETELY REMOVED. Like 100% gone.

Side note: every post I have made complimenting them is never replied to, answered, response of a ‘thanks’ in all of my social media. I think I must have hit a nerve?

T Pain was at 8 out of 10 almost every day. If I did NOTHING then the pain went down to 3.
