Menu Monday: A stained example from February 11, 1888, for Princeton at Delminco's restaurant in New York.
One fun fact about this menu: It included frozen nesselrode pudding, a once-popular dessert made from cream, chestnuts, dried fruits, candied fruits, and maraschino liqueur. These days, you may see this forgotten dish making a comeback in a restaurant near you.

Chapter 316: The Friend Test
Despite the previous night’s excesses, Ted and Michael’s group – now larger by one member – were back to their antics at Delmonico’s.
“Come on, Brent,” Ted said, smiling. “You know she’s going to say yes!”
“I know,” Brent replied. “But I’m asking her to marry me, Ted. I want it to be perfect.”
“Awww,” Freddy said, sarcastically. “I never realized you were such a romantic.”
“Shut up, Fred,” Brent said.
“Well, I know I don’t know you very well, but I wouldn’t worry if I were you,” Jack said from where he sat next to Ted. “It sounds like you two are really in love. So no matter how you propose, it’s going to be perfect.”
Brent smiled. “I like this one, Ted,” he said.
“I’m so glad I have your approval,” Ted replied.
“So you have a new book coming out?” Fred asked Jackson with interest. “What’s it about?”
“It’s actually a biography of Sir George Winstead, the former prime minister of Torenth,” Jackson replied. “I know, it sounds almost as boring as it is.”
“It sounds positively dreadful,” Fred replied, shaking his head.
“It’s wonderful, actually,” Ted said. “Jack let me read the manuscript, and it was really quite good.”
Jack stood and smiled.
“Excuse me for a moment, gentlemen,” he said. “I need to run to the restroom. I’ll be right back.”
Michael watched Jack leave, then turned to his stepbrother.
“I like him, Ted,” he said. “He obviously makes you very happy, and he seems like a great guy.”
Ted smiled.
“I’m glad,” he said. “I have to admit, I was a little nervous about bringing him with me tonight.”
“Why?” Freddy asked. “All that matters is that you’re happy. Of course, the fact he’s able to hold his own in this group says a lot.”
“I had no doubt of his ability to put all of you in your places,” Ted said. “But thanks. I am very happy.”
“Of course you are,” Michael said. “He’s terrific.”
Ted dropped his gaze, embarrassed to be the center of attention.
“Okay, can we please get back to my life?” Brent asked, seeing his friend’s discomfort. “I’m proposing tomorrow, remember?”
