Elden rings sorcery is almost definitely based on the work of John Dee. He was THE sorcerer-astrologer. The idea of learning spells by observing astrological phenomena is an idea Dee plays with as early as the Monas Hieroglyphica.

So many!! Well unfortunately nothing super LGBTQIA+ oriented. Which blows tbh.
Some of my favorite games by smaller studios:
Hades, Gris, and Hollow Knight (all incredible experiences)
My current single player obsession:
Elden Ring (though there is online co-op or PvP available)
Couch Co-Op games:
It Takes Two - has a super great balance of actual co-op that requires you to work together to complete levels - it’s a good game for folks who don’t love gaming because of that. Dean remarked that when we normally try to play couch co- op I tend to run ahead or do most of the fighting etc. The game is designed in a way that makes it impossible to do that which is perfect.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 - one of my favorite co-op games tbh. The Gooigi mechanic is fun and adds that element of joint puzzle solving that’s very satisfying. So about 10-15 min in the game is fully cooperative.
Super Mario 3D World/Bowser’s Fury - just fun to play with friends. Some sprinkles of competition in there but not enough to make it high stakes. Getting through the levels together is the best way to play. Bowser’s Fury has it’s own cooperative mechanic but I haven’t given that a shot.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - cute, lush environments and nice co-op. Bandana Waddle Dee is a little OP at the start and a little under powered at the end but it’s a super fun game to play together.
Yoshi’s Crafted World - just get this game (on sale if possible but with Nintendo titles that’s rare). The design elements are charming af and the two player mode is super delightful.

a thing i’ve noticed among elden ring fans is that a lot of people have that one boss that they just love fighting, and/or are really good at fighting. and i’ve realised that for me that boss is the draconic tree sentinel
