but then i think that if i was sitting alone in my hutch eating my gruel and a person of ambiguous gender COVERED in blood with a glowing hand walked in flanked by a qunari so tall his horns are scraping the thatched ceiling, a best-selling author with a crossbow that legally doesn’t exist, and the fucking Imperial Enchanter to the Empress of Orlais, and they started rifling through my things, i probably wouldn’t say anything either

12. What struggle have they seen each other through?
there's the whole Blight, but that's a cheap answer so I will not go w that lol. okay here's one that idk if I've ever shared before, but Sidane lost their vision to an injury at the top of Fort Drakon.
(injuries/eye pain cw) a shriek was going to catch Morrigan off-guard, and Sidane just... jumped in the way. they weren't really thinking, bc if they were, they probably just would've used a magical barrier or something. but instead they panicked, and their face got clawed instead of Morrigan's head. now I'm perfectly aware that Morrigan canonically leaves after that fight if the ritual happened, buuuut it's my brain and I say that she stuck around after that, at least for a bit. it wasn't for long and might not even count for this question, tbh? but she stayed with them for a few days until they woke up, since the shriek got them badly enough that they were out of commission for the rest of the fight. Alistair was the one to get the final blow against the Archdemon.
16. How do they react when the other is upset? How do they try to help?
I won't lie to you, I feel like they're BOTH bad at this, at least initially lol. Morrigan grew up w friggin Flemeth as her role model, so I doubt she has any good examples to follow? Sidane is a liiiiittle better, since they have Jowan, their sister Perry, and best friend Ramori, so there's experience there in comforting others even if they're not the best at it. but Morrigan? nah. I feel like she doesn't know how to handle that at first, but learns as time goes on.
tbh they probably just kind of give the other space, at least in the beginning of their relationship? neither of them know what to do but don't want to make it worse, so they'll just leave the other be. but that changes when they start to fall for each other; Morrigan is a bit harder for me to pin down in how she'd comfort them, aside from spending time w them and listening to them vent. Sidane, on the other hand, tries to make Morrigan feel better by leaving a pretty flower or two in her tent, or on her things. historically they've always been a casual hook-up sort of person, they don't have experience with actual romantic feelings, but plenty of novels say that flowers are a good gift, right? they're trying. give them both some time in their relationship to not be as awkward with FEELINGS.
Josie/Rionne
23. What was their first impression of each other?
was Josie there when the Inquisitor was unconscious after popping out of the Fade? if yes, then I'd imagine she was probably curious as well as cautious? they just survived a huge disaster and they have that glowing arm now, so I think I'd feel the same way. if not, I think Josie might have thought Rionne was impressive and brave for how she'd sealed the Rift, but was also... kind of chilly? which isn't wrong, bc Rionne IS a chilly person in general - that just gets amplified when she's a Dalish mage surrounded by human Chantry members who seem to think she's a prophet for their religion. Rionne didn't enjoy her time at Haven, lbr.
on Rionne's end, she was initially suspicious (as she was with everybody), until Josephine greeted her in elvish. for Rionne, it was the first time anybody at Haven had treated her with respect; praising her for the Rift or being their Herald set her on edge at the least and irritated her at worst, because she had no choice in the former and she outright denied the latter every chance she got. so Rionne kind of decided that she had a soft spot for Josie from word go, haha.
24. How did they fall for each other?
would it be corny to say just by being themselves? 🖤 okay less corny, I think it happened just as they got to know and understand each other. they're both hardworking women who put their families (Lavellan and Montilyet) first, so much of what they do is for the people they love and there was a real solidarity that came with that. Josephine is caring and compassionate, gives Rionne cuddles while respecting her asexuality. she knows that sometimes Rionne's just going to be prickly, or not touchy-feely, and it doesn't mean that she's any less loving than she was yesterday. Rionne went out of her way multiple times to help Josephine with her family, and outright dueled somebody else so Josie wouldn't have to marry a stranger. lots of little things and big things adding up to a nice picture.

conversations you overhear while standing outside the door of the people who are finally going to decide your fate once and for all after you just risked your life to close the giant hole in the sky that fill you with hope and definitely not dread.
this entire conversation was like pulling teeth for him. senaeal's in an interesting position now, where he absolutely despises being seen as some savior sent by the maker, but is very aware that his safety hinges on the humans in haven believing that he's somehow blessed by their god.
this is cool and fun for him.
although there was a brief moment of indescribable feelings of smugness when leliana pulled this on roderick:
a bit yasss and slay of her, tbh.
senaeal opinion time:
so obviously senaeal agreed to join the inquisition. leliana says they won't force him, but both she and cassandra make very clear that if he doesn't, he'll likely have a target on his back for the rest of his life. and a target on his back means a target on the backs of all dalish elves for the foreseeable future.
but, frankly, even if that wasn't the case, he couldn't actually let a giant hole in the sky continue to exist when he knows he has the power to help with it. he's not at his most magnanimous at the moment, but even he isn't that callous to such a giant problem, regardless of whether it would affect his clan or not.
cassandra:
we're at "wary, careful truce" now. he very pointedly sidestepped the issue of him being sent by the maker when cassandra brought it up, but she, at the very least, truly doesn't seem to believe he created the breach anymore.
leliana:
hilariously, senaeal doesn't trust leliana any more than the last time they met, but he really likes the way she reacted to roderick, so she got a giant bump here.
she's clearly in some sort of position of power, and she uses it to be mean to upstarts. this is one of senaeal's favorite traits in anyone, ever.
roderick:
"and yet you live. a convenient result, as far as you're concerned"
chancellor roderick coming out here with the "drown the witch" levels of logic.

NOOOO how could they do my boy like that!!!! killed him off in the second episode and everything!!!! 😭
the rest of it was really good tho! it had everything: great fight scenes, lesbian betrayal, juicy gay kisses between two manly dudes with beards, a good setup for either season 2 or a tie into the next main game, [insert meme] how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old (wo)man!!, and a really fun cast of characters I'd love to see more of

Inquisitor Cousland: Return to Redcliffe
Having momentarily been persuaded to end my blood feud with Lord Seeker Lucius, I attempted to rendezvous with Fiona in Redcliffe. There was a yucky time rift right outside the gate.
Luckily, thanks to my memories of the last time I was here, I knew exactly how to handle this: Sneaking through the secret route into the city!
And so, I cleverly brought the party to the secret passage in the old windmill, where we could stumble on it "accidentally"—
Ffffuck
My companions were very confused, but I grabbed some shitty equipment from an abandoned treasure chest and claimed that was what I’d been looking for all along.
So we went in the normal way, to some completely unfamiliar part of Redcliffe. Here, I was displeased to encounter a familiar face:
Oh... shit. Hey, Connor! Nice to see you, man--I mean meet you
Connor was not happy at all and seemed DISTINCTLY ungrateful that I'd saved his life.
I began to rethink my intention to treat with the mages. The kid could blow my cover!
Even more unnerving, his friend underwent mitosis:
Having had enough of time doppelgangers for one day, we quickly ran out of there.

thank you Karolina!! <3 Quista is still incomplete as a character, so I reserve the right to change my mind about stuff here later, but also I love her and I love her and Sera, so!
3. What's their favorite thing to tease each other about?
maybe a bit of an easy one, but: I'm gonna say their respective heights, lol. Quista is obviously WAY taller than Sera is or ever will be, and Sera is WAY shorter, so they'll affectionately tease. things like "must suck to have to hit your head on the door all the time" vs "must suck to not even be able to SEE the door ever"
Sera: ...I can though, Inky, it's right there
Quista: ...I need to practice my quipping
4. How do they compare to each other's exes? Are they the same "type" or an upgrade/something different?
idk how much info we get on Sera's exes canonically, but I would assume that they were fellow Jennies, maybe? servants and general common folk that she came across? Quista already differs there in that she was a mercenary, and a qunari at that - p different from what the average Fereldan/Orlesian would think of as ordinary, imo. and based on guessing, I would assume Sera's usually gone for at least... eh, maybe the livelier type? chattier? which Quista typically isn't lol, she's a lot more introverted and nervous around people.
on Quista's end, I genuinely have no idea if she's dated anybody before Sera ngl sdjfgjs
6. Do they have pet names for each other? Do they like them?
Sera calls Quista "Inky," which she adores!! it's cute and it makes her smile. Quista's called Sera "my bee-loved" on a couple of occasions, which Sera might love even more than Quista does Inky.
10. What was their last big fight? What did they learn from it?
idk if I can give a good answer, just because I still need to play Quista's game properly lol. I guess the biggest thing that comes to mind is that sometimes Quista can be a bit reckless w her Fade research? which makes Sera worry, and they've had to talk about it a few times before agreeing to understand that this is a passion for her that won't go away (Sera's lesson) / people care about you and don't want you to endanger yourself, just be careful (Quista's)
13. How do they express love for each other? Do they have compatible love languages?
Quista's an acts of service and gift giving type, I think! she's a good alchemist and good at weapon-making, so new bombs for Sera? done. fixing her bow? done. little things to spoil her and make her feel loved.
if I had to guess, I think I'd say Sera's a words of affirmation and quality time person? just letting her Inky know how precious she is, and getting as much time together as they can. they express their love differently, but I think they appreciate it equally - Sera likes being spoiled, and Quista likes that somebody wants to spend so much time with her. so they're compatible in that sense? yeah!
15. What habits or characteristics have they picked up from each other?
you've got me beat on what Sera would pick up, bc Quista still needs some fleshing out there, but I do know that Quista has more than likely picked up several of Sera's more colorful phrases, lol.
23. What was their first impression of each other?
smol cute elf lady instantly into the buff qunari lady and her muscles. buff qunari lady instantly into this smol cute elf lady and her instantly cutting down a rancid nobleman. I like to think Cassandra, Solas, and Varric noticed but were too polite to say anything.

Sera: 😳
24. How did they fall for each other?
I might actually have a better answer for once lol, but I like to think that Quista joining Sera on her prank spree is the moment Sera knew that she caught feelings for her, because Quista was actually laughing and smiling without getting embarrassed afterwards.
Quista's trickier to pin down, but I know that Sera's passion for the little people and her love of life is what won her over in general.
