i really think something about the daleks was cheapened when they started turning humans into daleks
like, that's not the kind of fear the daleks personify. they're fascism, they're genocidal dictators who think they're inherently better than everyone else. the cybermen are body horror and the dangers of super-advanced tech, and when you give the daleks the cybermen's thing, it feels like both are just generic monsters
“Ten and His Villains”. I’m so excited to finally share the first of several illustrations I painted for @dtfanzine. This was not only my first zine participation but also my first time modding one and it’s been an incredibly enriching experience. When I was conceptualising this piece, it somehow slipped my mind that most of these had metal components, so it was an exercise in patience to render it all, but it was so worth it 😂

The Cybermen are scariest when they're not indestructible, shiny robots. The Mondasian Cyberman gets the body horror right. They look like humans who've been chopped up, sewn back together, and poorly stuffed into this suit. And the fact that they look so frail and can be damaged, but still don't react to pain is horrifying. I love that. Less robot, more zombie
