Catboy nonny here with the weirdest idea yet. So Desmond for some reason doesn’t activate the Eye (his choice or some intervention, doesn’t really matter) and the world burns. World is an apocalyptic wasteland. AND for some fuckin reason, Des is now a catboy.
Now here’s the fun part. The survivors are obviously gonna go coocoo for coco puffs because I said so, and a group of them start worshipping Desmond and using surviving anime and comics as proof of his divinity. MODERN APOCALYPSE CULT FOR CATBOY DESMOND!
Where is his team during this? Unclear, but Bill’s dead because fuck Bill.
Desmond has no idea why it turned out like this.
After being knocked out by some kind of blast that appeared from Minerva’s hologram before he could touch the device, he woke up to the feeling of flickering cat ears and swaying cat tail.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, he couldn’t make any other noise other than cat noises.
His phone was also cracked beyond repair and, considering how much his ass hurt, it might have been his fault.
Wait, he didn’t planned to get toppled by Minerva’s mind blast or whatever.
It wasn’t his fault!
Anyway, with no other ways to communicate with his team, he put his hood up to hide his cat ears and hid his cat tail by making it curl around his waist so his hood could cover it.
It wasn’t exactly comfortable (especially since he had to puncture a hole on his jeans for his newly acquired tail) but it would have to do.
It was more important for him to find his team.
.
The world burned and it changed the entire world.
Some changes were immediate.
All electronic devices died…
The death of so many people who were unable to stay in a building fortified enough to protect them from a force of nature they don’t even know about.
But the worst was yet to come.
The Solar Flare did more than destroy what it touched.
It changed the world itself.
The soil itself lost many of its nutrient, making it harder to grow plants necessary to survive.
Animals were not spared from its flames and their population dwindled into frightening numbers.
And the humans…
It is during these kinds of tragedy that humans show both the worst and best of them.
Humans formed different groups and tackled this new world in different ways.
And the weak groups…
They usually fell because it was the strong groups who managed to horde resources, leaving little for the weak to fight over.
It was during one of these ‘skirmishes’ that Desmond found his first followers.
Calling it skirmishes wasn’t exactly correct.
A group of humans enjoying the carnage and lawlessness of these lands were hunting down a small group of young adults who were just trying to find enough food to make it to the day.
Their first mistake was checking a convenient store, a hotspot for every other groups in the area.
They would have fared better had they broken into empty houses and looked for canned food instead.
Desmond took care of the ‘hunters’ easily. They weren’t professionals and stood no change against Desmond.
Still…
It brought a bad taste in his mouth how these people used to live normal lives before everything happened.
The people he saved tried to thank him but then…
They saw his cat ears.
And one of them shouted…
“WE FOUND OUR PROTAGONIST!!!”
.
Desmond’s luck smacked him right on the face.
The people he just saved?
They were part of an Anime club in junior high (to be more specific “Japanese Culture Appreciation Club”) and they all shared a delusion that this is now that set of an anime and they all have to find the protagonist to survive.
Desmond being a badass with cat ears and a silent type (not by choice!) became their protagonist.
When Desmond tried to explain that, no, he was not a government experiment that escaped or he wasn’t isekai’ed and that he used to be a normal human, they just believed that Desmond has ‘awaken’ his powers after the Solar Flare.
No matter what he says, the group follows him around and treat him as the ‘protagonist’ which is, really, just a word they use to deny any allegation of ‘worshiping’ going on.
Desmond can’t leave them behind because they’re kids, for fuck’s sake. They weren’t harming anyone (other than Desmond’s self esteem and pride) so…
Uuuhhh… Desmond is now in charge of young adults who believe him to be the protagonist.
… and it will grow to include other people.
… later on.

This time, she fed it to Yellowy herself, then looked back up at him. “Why… are you doing all this?” Namwoon shrugged. “I like dogs.” [Incarnation ‘Shin Yoosung’ has activated ‘Lie Detection’ Lv. 3.] [‘Lie Detection’ has confirmed your words as true.]
chapter 2 of my kim namwoon fic!
you know how I said this was about the epilogue? 70% of this chapter is flashbacks to the 999th regression timeline. oops
maybe I just wanted to write kim namwoon interacting with lee seolhwa and shin yoosung and the abyssal black flame dragon (of course)

around what year is bil? specifically what memes does sikagami know
~2011 2012 dated by ch 2's mention of him getting into breakdancing in 2009, and the fact that he quoted jay-z and kanye west's "in paris" to hyuga in ch 3 5
he's not so into memes at the time, just because old internet stuff is old internet stuff. but of course some things are in his vernacular
memes might slip through in his inner voice as a reminder of who he used to be - that he's not just kagami taiga but not in an obtrusive way - but he's very conscious of communicating with the people around him. a meme is only funny if other people get it, right?

my biggest fear with digging up the IBO timeline is that they could absolutely write past the ending of the series in a bad way and kneecap an ending I enjoyed for the sake of official fix-it fic
my second biggest fear is that they could reveal all of the demon frame designs and destroy one of the best OC in-ramps for chuuni teenagers to start writing mecha

Hello! I wanted to ask what made you fall in love with bingqiu?
Hey there!
Ah hmm that's an interesting question, I've never thought about it actually. I like bingqiu a lot, but I never considered it as falling in love with the ship? They're a fun ship to play with and they have a wide range that's pretty flexible so I'm always in my comfort zone drawing them.
I suppose most of the art I draw for bingqiu are a love letter to them, though. And I think that's pretty telling of my brain rot for them 😂
I think the food the fandom cooked up really helped a lot. SV fic writers are on a whole other plane of existence when it comes to analyzing binghe's character and filling in on his journey of healing with sqq by his side. I'm the annoying type of audience that gets bored when the main couple gets together at the end...so when scum villain ended the way it did, mxtx may as well have german suplexed me on the concrete. scum villain is a story that subverts its tropes left and right and the ending was no exception! I love that bingqiu getting together at the end was not an automatic happily ever after, but rather, they still are putting in the work and effort to understand and stay in each other's lives. The glimpse of that path we get in the extras really did solidify my desire to see how bingqiu will continue to stay together--bingmei vs bingge extra was probably the finishing blow for me tho lmao. I couldn't stop thinking about what the heck happened to bingge after he left the sv world that I read a bunch of fics about him and needed to soothe the angst with sv bingqiu
on a side tangent, bingqiu parallels another of my all time ship, nozomizo from liz and the blue bird. mild spoilers if you haven't seen liz, but nozomizo had a similar codependent relationship that needed them both to grow apart as individuals in order to stay together. bingqiu separated unwillingly and binghe's growth as an individual was fueled by betrayal, despair, and that dying glimmer of hope that maybe, maybe shizun could accept him now that they're equals. but they don't. because binghe still hasn't emotionally grown to get past his temper tantrums (thanks xin mo) and sqq is still failing binghe by constantly misunderstanding him. but bingqiu still choose each other, choose to love and support each other, and they refuse to be separated again. whereas nozomizo was a healthy separation with a promise of reunion, bingqiu was fighting through the muddy trenches with a vague hope that the other is reaching out their hands too. i thought it was neat how differently both ships handled their codependency that still guarantees a happy ending, no matter how dirty and bruised they got along the way.
I also think sqq's compassionate narration in regards to binghe's suffering got to me lmao. He truly does care for binghe, and even if naysayers argue it's not romantic, it's undeniable that binghe is special to sqq. although not the best choices, most if not all of his choices were for binghe's best interest (thanks system). sqq had so much heart for binghe that it affected me through the screen too. binghe's abandonment issues and fake wet tears have captivated me. his gap moe as a chuuni emo demonic overlord and wife with a maidenly glass heart has bewitched me body and soul. i want luo binghe to be happy so badly!!
i think that's why bingqiu fascinates me. most of the bingqiu arts i draw are like slice of life vignettes, so without the meat and bones of fanfic diving into bingqiu's messiness, i would not have ascended to this level of brain rot for them...

would love to see a fic where zeta or one of the other girls has a breakdown in front of cid. you know, cause of the trauma. and at first cid is being his usual unhinged chuuni self, but eventually starts to become like legit concerned. and so he does something that he has never done before. not in his entire life.
he breaks character
because he wants to make sure shes okay. and the shadow persona wouldnt really be able to ask that kind of thing. which rapidly comes to the realization on zetas side that her boss has no idea that this was all real the entire time and just thought they were just being nice and going along with his delusions. and on cid side that "oh shit. this is like, actually real?"

The divine eye... gahhh- this power. It's overwhelming!
Another drawing for a fic @meditatemoremedicateless has posted that we discussed in Discord. "But I don't want to be a chuunibyou!!" wherein post-Rebellion sealed goddess Madoka interprets Homura's weirdness as her being intensely chuuni and...
She kinda likes it 😳

Sooo... I've noticed a couple of KHR fics in your bookmarks - who's your favourite character? If you said it before and I missed it, then my bad, but I'm gonna guess.... Mukuro? Byakuran? Reborn? Actually scratch that, who would be YRZ's favourite?!
obviously it's a tie between reborn and muroko for me. Iove an unrepentant bastard with deep deep issues. It's great! hibari is also great btw. chuuni teenage fuck whom i love <3
yrz admires nana's ability to be so. godamn. oblivious. he craves that normality.

First of all, happy birthday! Hope you get more candy that you like! As for the prompt: Whilst accidentally stumbling onto the bad side of town (again), Kaidou finds himself surrounded by a group of delinquents without a way to escape, just as gets prepared for the worst, one of them puts their arms around his shoulders and starts introducing themselves to their ex leader’s partner
I originally intended to post this with the rest of the birthday prompts but through a series of bizarre incidents I am now unable to do that unless I want to lose this ask and everything I've written entirely. I don't know how that happened either.
Anyway
So I actually have no idea how to write this since I don't write saiki k fic and don't plan to but I love this so I need to post it. I'll ramble a little bit about what I'd like to read from this idea to make up for the lack of actual writing lol
I'm a huge fan of Kaidou suddenly having just... this gang of delinquents who are willing to lay their life down for him. This is their ex leader's boyfriend! His new partner! And he's a huge scaredy-cat and incredibly weak so they need to be extra careful to keep him safe! (They don't realize that half the time they're the ones being scary, but despite that, Kaidou likes them because they're similar to Kuboyasu)
I think it'd be incredibly funny if Kuboyasu had no idea any of this was happening. Maybe he left Kaidou alone for like, five minutes and in that time Kaidou got himself lost and promptly "kidnapped" and Kuboyasu hunts them down and is about to go on a rampage until he realizes 1) oh that's his old gang and 2) they're actually being pretty hospitable, or as much as delinquents can be. I'm imagining Kuboyasu kicking a door down and wielding a baseball bat but Kaidou is just sitting on a couch and someone is pouring tea for him and he's still a little shaky but starting to relax now that he knows who these scary people are and all in all it's just a good time.
Bonus points for an epilogue scene where Kaidou is about to get actually mugged or something when suddenly a bunch of delinquents pop up behind him and put the fear of god into his harasser. Does he realize they're there? Or does he assume his chuuni behavior actually worked? Well... Lol

Holy shit are you the one that wrote that really good orv soulmates au? You're killing it! Also do you ever think about Kim Namwoon? I do. I think it's cool how he's introduced as a chuuni with no moral code, but as the story progresses he somehow develops into this odd character that represents the lack of a divide between good and evil. At first, his actions in the train are shown as cruel and evil, but then you realize that in some ways, he's actually kind of right? Ima write an essay (1/??)
Ok so im back- so I can't put images in an ask, but Kim namwoon's monologue about killing that woman is actually really interesting. He talks about how they HAVE to kill her- If they don't, they're all going to die. And that's wrong (but only because of the grasshoppers- is Gilyoung wasn't there, He'd actually be in the right here) So, in the context of the first scenario, Kim Namwoon is 'evil'. but as you read more, you realize a lot of stuff which retroactively redeems him (2/??) For example, Everyone outside of car 3807 who survives is a murder, just like Kim Namwoon. And they aren't evil for it- there's a distinction made between murderers and monsters. There's a lot of this- The scene in the theatre dungeon on the boats (live no matter what), etc etc. and we see that Kim Dokja isn't opposed to them either. The main reason he let Kim namwoon die is because he hates him. which is cool! especially because it leads the way for future character development (3/??) Regarding their relationship- Kim Dokja has to come to terms with the fact that Namwoon wasn't actually all that bad, both by working with him in the underworld and meeting the ''him' from alternate regressions. This arc works for two purposes- 1) It relates to the theme of evil versus good- Kim Namwoon is neither, so it's unfair to treat him as one or the other. But the second is my favorite- Kim Dokja's opinion of Namwoon serves as a kind of metaphor for his opinion on himself. (4/5) We know from the text that He sees Kim namwoon as similar to him, and so it's interesting to see him stop hating him as he comes to terms with stuff.
Always cool to hear from someone who's read wall fic :). You reminded me that there's a few Kim Namwoon scenes in the next chapter I'm excited to write... but my writing anxiety has been acting up again on the end of chapter four and I have to finish sewing a l/eech be/anie b/aby from scratch this week, so it'll probably be a bit til we get there.
I think that your analysis is really interesting, mostly because going at it from the angle of "morality" of omniscient reader is a perspective i kind of lack on my own. Like good vs evil is one of The themes of ORV that they hand out to you in their list of themes they have written on some literal walls, but honestly its not something i really think about on my own. For me, like you mention, the big emphasis of KNW's character is what he represents to Kim Dokja, bc i think one of my favorite themes is the relationship of him as a reader to the WoS characters and the "impossible communication" theme.
I think that one of my favorite aspects of Kim Dokja is the way that he was able to empathize and see himself in the different characters in WoS and give them the specific comforts they needed at different times in the story (reaching out to LJY, SYS, YJH, etc) and fundamentally giving them someone who is on their side and their for them when everything is lost and they are alone, because that's something that he didn't have. All throughout reading ways of survival, the only thing by his side was this story. He sort of knows what the solutions to their problems are just cause he knows what he needed back then... so this really positive trait is coming out of his projection of his own thoughts and feelings from the past to these characters he loves. It's great that we have Kim Namwoon as an inversion of that, a character onto whom he's projected not the struggles he faced, but rather the traits that embarrass him.
This is mostly my interpretation but I really feel that there are similarities in the ways KDJ talks about himself as a child idolizing Yoo Joonghyuk and going through a chuuni phase and the way that he talks about KNW, and I think him being unkind to KNW is an extension of him being unkind to himself. Like at the beginning of ORV KDJ is in this place where his hero worship of YJH is at this crossroads with his view of his own self that he expects YJH to just treat him like a bug he has to exterminate unless he proves some other value. This perspective is interesting when you take into account that KDJ of the past would imagine being friends with the WoS characters and even used to pretend he was YJH, and that in fact the entirety of ORV was something he had continuously planned out since childhood when he wrote stats in his school notebook because it paints this picture of his daydreaming just being brutally beat down as he grows up and starts thinking about what would be really "realistic" with the kind of person that he believes himself to be... And then as that process is happening, Kim Dokja reads over and over again YJH just, at the start of every regression, picking up this annoying younger guy who's so desperate to impress him and somehow manages to get his attention while being embarrassingly chuuni and seeming to revel in the chance to kill someone... I think what you say is interesting about whether or not KNW was "right" to murder someone on the train, but honestly I don't think it matters as much whether or not he was right or wrong, just that Kim Dokja thought he was being an asshole about it, lmao. The whole thing of him killing Kim Namwoon is really interesting to me becaus it's a mix of a lot of great things. On one hand it's a big asset for the theme of a reader in the world of his favorite story because the premise of "My favorite book is real so I finally get to kill that character I've always hated," which is hilarious in its own right, gets turned into "wow I killed a 19 year old" when he's slowly starting to realize WoS characters are Real People, but it's also honestly a big piece of forshadowing for the end of orv before the epilogues and Kim Dokja's true character. Kim Namwoon's type of character is the kind that in most apocalypse stories is setting the tone of the edgey new reality, introducing the fact that people will die. He also represents the very idea of being forced into a situation where you must become a murderer or die; the jumping off point of WoS that Kim Dokja as a character fundamentally connects to. As a kid, he was forced to defend himself from his abusive father, and ultimately killed him. This is a central, scarring event of his childhood, and even though he represses and warps this memory into his mother's version of events, the concept is still something real to him and something that shapes his way of thinking. Obviously sometimes killing is necessary, but to enjoy it too much or brag about it on some level is associated with KDJ's past with his mother who wrote a book about murder and himself who once had to kill someone... It's obvious why Kim Dokja would hate a character representing this kind of narrative, that someone must be killed and because of that those involved are blameless, because Kim Dokja always pushes the blame of others' deaths onto himself... because in the world where everything is as Kim Dokja imagines and dreams it to be, KNW comes back as a spirit of vengeance to temporarily stall him on the bridge, there's an idea that KDJ deserves some retribution that he avoids to pursue his goals, which is consistent with what happens at the end right before the epilogues -
(quick digression: I've said this before and I'll say it again; I think that KDJ killing KNW is the reason that YJH tried to kill him in the beginning of ORV. KDJ dismisses it as YJH being an asshole for no reason, but I really believe that on some level YJH saw that KDJ just killed his chuuni little mentee and was like okay i want this guy to die. also getting into orv ending spoilers here ok)
-where KDJ tries to kill the kid version of himself by using disconnected film theory and stabbing himself. Like I genuinely think that KDJ avoids thinking about morality with the efficacy of "I know that I'm in the wrong, but I'm always wrong and terrible and regardless of what ever I am I have to get to the end of the story" and then after that whether or not he feels that he deserves salvation or damnation because to him the story that he loves is both...
gah, that was a tangent. I just mean that I think that part of killing KNW is Kim Dokja trying to kill a part of himself, the part of himself that dared to have the dreams that he had about the WoS characters being his family, just like he tries to kill the OD who still has those dreams... and is utterly baffled that those dreams could actually be realized in any universe. Additionally, the turn around KDJ has with KNW reminds of this in that he sees KNW in this constructive environment where he kind of just gets to be a kid and build gundams and realizes that these things that he hated about himself and KNW were just like... things that kids do. Like being chuuni about murder and the dark truth of the world is just a phase that teenagers go through sometimes just like building gundams... /hj... and like being cringey and having unrealistic ideas and desires isn't inherently malicious, like how we see KNW in the alternate dimension is just sort of a little brother character who has a crush on LJY and fools around with his mentor's stuff... It's similar to the kind of realization you want KDJ to have at the end towards himself when he sees the OD going with SP and crew to be a family lmao.

watching crisis core playthroughs for fic research(tm) and. some late night scattered thoughts on genesis i guess
like i've been seeing lot of comments about him being bland and poorly written and inconsequential to the plot but tbh that's kind of the reason i like him as a character. this utterly pathetic bastard man with chuuni syndrome spends the entire game trying to prove with literal blood sweat and tears that he is the main character, screaming and crying and throwing dramatic fits as he doubles down further and further until the very end where he is forced to accept that he isn't
not to mention why he's even like that in the first place. his entire underlying motive revolves around how he wants to fuck sephiroth be friends with sephiroth. he wants to be important to sephiroth. (did he really leave without saying anything because he believed sephiroth was too loyal to shinra? or did he want sephiroth to follow on his own without him asking as a way to prove how much he meant to him? or was he just too afraid to ask and risk facing the definitive answer that sephiroth really didn't care at all?)
i'd have to be more coherent but there's something to be said here about parallels (and their respective contrasts) with cloud esp given the compilation's themes on heroism
anyways i don't remember if i've talked about loveless as a coping mechanism on here before but regardless there is something very tragic about genesis as a character trapped within the story trying to fight the narrative itself especially given his love for literature. he does not have one yet (maybe not ever) but he has amazing potential for a redemption arc post-canon. i found him digging in the trash in my backyard and he is absolutely fascinating i cannot fix him but i genuinely believe cloud strife can
also sort of unrelated but while the people who dislike genesis are valid in their opinions there's a lot about him that has been bastardized between the original japanese and english localization. idk his vibes hit very different if you compare the subtext of what they are saying side by side i think it's somewhat worth looking into if anyone is interested in his characterization or struggling with writing him in fic etc etc

those vocabulary complainers are weak. in the middle of an essay where he was clowning on one of his contemporaries, mark twain once wrote that "the difference between the almost right word and the right word is the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning," and I for one deeply appreciate your facility at calling down the lightning in the fics of yours I've read
i appreciate that much, but i think i'm so used to reaching for metaphor and lore to convey an idea that it spills into non-artsy situations, too. like i often can't discuss worldbuilding HCs or chuuni shit with people without getting blank looks in return

Thoughts on the 12th ep of Hypmic Rhyme Anima+. Spoilers beware
Season 1 | Ep.1 | Ep.2 | Ep.3 | Ep.4 | Ep. 5 | Ep. 6 | Ep. 7 | Ep. 8 | Ep. 9 | Ep. 10 | Ep. 11
I love these two they're so stupid and cute ofc they're fighting about what place they're gonna open akira's ideals vs satoru's flashyness. i like how satoru is the one who dreams big between them while akira is more down to earth and focuses on the things that can make others happy too
ah so this is how they originally got arrested huh? metaphorically and literally stepping on their dreams damn
thats a tone shift damn i hate that this anime made me care for two gay dead people (so much that i accidently wrote a fic for them whoops)
genuinely i wonder what the IVs are for, it has to be important enough for kaibyakumon to hide them in his projections
like theres four of them. what do you need so many iv bags for mdude?
i still think the who will answer my questions is on par with roxas being a looser
like damn chiaro is very gay living on within his totally platonic bro friend who is modeled after the guy his original died with
good for him honestly, radical change very rarely comes from peaceful actions
damn another leader unit song? suckssss was looking forward to a nigumi
ah no fake out
oh heay hifumi got his jacket back and is straight to complementing his bestie
I like how MTC is taking a more leadership role in this since it is more military focused and they are quite literally the military unit
that would have been more poignant if we Saw how much shinjuku meant to him
Amanda squeakkkkkkkk shes best character ever
soccer idiot what a meathead
also i love the fact that jyushi thinks that the ball is jiro's friend
oh look at that thinking, Scuro does have have some brains in there
OH THEM!!!! ITS BEEN A WHILE I MISS SECRET ALIENSSSSSSS Iris being slay as always never flinching from samatoki shes such a badass
oh i do not miss rex www iris is as sassy as ever and i love her
i like how the villains are playing these smart, its good. just as i type that kaibyakumon does something idiotic by hiding in the most obvious place
oh wait there was that shadow in like ep2 or smth. that was him. that was kaibyakumon. H U H
ww i thought only gentaro got in
LETS GO OOOOO SCURO BBY YOU ARE DOING SO WELL OH YOU
suprised that they all survived gett in blown up by a bomb without any injuries wow
HAHAHAHA JYUSHI oh you lovable boy
haha kick like soccer ball
damn sheer dumb luck saved them huh unfortunate but at least best boy was the one to show the way
oh gods this is the chuuni group and i love it i love how gentaro is just playing along
with the power of music and gayness he will prevail!
damn hes doing it by himself no holograms needed! oh im proud of himmm what a strong boy!
i like his rap tbh its very much about unity and experience, everything he as both chiaro, scuro, akira, and satoru together make up who the person is, they will have their just revenge, they have learned from their mistakes and they will fight for what is theirs. its really good
also he refrences spawn camping www their combined version does seem like the toxic type of guy who would
awww the heroes too have the power of gay and music by their side
i find it hilarious how jyushi enunciates his team name www its true tho none of them have an ass to speak of
honestly? this one is better than the 3gumi one
oh he holds the mic to his heart …
damn ripp the artificial gays they were good. i liked them :((( wish they stayed alive D:
oh those eyebagsss they're heavyyy hes haunted by les horreurs!
oh he loves them, he loves his boyssssss hypmi really be burying their gays and letting their father mourn
lmfao did aliens really just knock out the chuuoku girls driving the plane and fuck off to bukuro love that iris is the one driving tho, love that for her
hah, not a bad episode, i didn't hate it but it wasn't great either. I enjoyed the gay things and the Secret Aliens cameo but overall just no much really popped out to me unlike ep 10
also i just noticed that sasara's suit the pattern is just overlayed on top of the suit not drawn on. cute

Thoughts on Villain Deku?
That's... all at once simple and complicated.
Midoriya wants to help people. I could see him committing crimes to do so. But...
I once mentioned that I have three main problems with Villain Deku as a trope. That Midoriya feels out of character when he jumps straight to murder as an acceptable response, that he commits acts I find too reprehensible to root for him despite him being the protagonist, and that he almost always joins the League of Villain which is run by a chuuni with no real political philosophy who drags down the legitimacy of all the other Villains.
I don't see Midoriya ever becoming a mass murdering monster on par with All For One, throwing morality out the window in a mad campaign of revenge, and that's by far the single most common interpretation of that idea. That either Bakugou, All Might or both causes him to 'snap' and he's suddenly a completely different character.
If your protagonist commits crimes against humanity, I won't want them to win. That's fine, there are many Villain Protagonist stories like that where the point is watching them get demolished in the end. But most Villain Midoriya fics are about him winning, which is where we get a problem.
Lastly, AFO. God where do I even start. Midoriya is usually allegedly out for revenge against the Hero Society and Quirks that led to him being bullied and ostracized, but... uh... AFO isn't. AFO is out here to live in his chuuni fantasyland. And anyone who teams up with him loses the validity of their argument.
There are ways to write Villain Midoriya that I would like. My Gentle Whispers AU is one, and my Yakaku Academy is another. But I rarely see any fics that really go in those directions.
